An enquiry was held following concerns raised by the Veterinary Officer that Boxes 1 and 2 in the Racecourse Stables had food present in them from a previous meeting and were not sufficiently cleaned prior to the arrival of the runners at Worcester’s meeting on Thursday 12 October 2017. Jonjo O’Neill, the trainer of GLOBAL CITIZEN (IRE) and TIMEFORWEST (IRE), the Veterinary Officer and the Clerk of the Course were interviewed. The Veterinary Officer was satisfied that the food present was normal foodstuff and the Stewards, being satisfied that GLOBAL CITIZEN (IRE) and TIMEFORWEST (IRE) had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, allowed the geldings to run. A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority. Race 2 - 2:20pm THE SIX OF THE BEST HANDICAP STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 4) The winner, MERCIAN KING (IRE), ridden by Jack Quinlan and trained by Amy Murphy, appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Stratford on 9 September 2017 where the gelding finished seventh of eleven, beaten by 37¼ lengths. It was noted that the trainer’s representative could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Following the race, J J Burke reported that LAMBEAU FIELD (USA), which was pulled up, lost its action. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities..
Race 7 - 5:00pm THE HAZELTON MOUNTFORD EQUINE INSURANCE SPECIALISTS HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 4) (DIV I) After jumping the final hurdle, the winner, SISSINGHURST (IRE), edged slightly left-handed, causing ST ANDREWS (IRE), placed third, to have to be switched right-handed for a run, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of SISSINGHURST (IRE).
The sponsorship in relation to ST ANDREWS (IRE), trained by Ian Williams, did not comply with the Sponsorship Code of Conduct. Trainer Chris Gordon said episodes that led to Worcester's card on Thursday being left with a brace of two-runner races and a three-runner heat were not a good advert for racing and meant faith in racecourses could be eroded.
Gordon had been due to field runners in each division of the bumper, but withdrew them because of the ground, described as good, good to firm in places before being changed to good to firm after the opener.
A host of non-runners followed – 30 of the 33 withdrew because of the conditions – leaving Gordon, who is based near Winchester, frustrated.
He said: "I've got two lots of owners who have come for a day out and it's costly. It took me two seconds when I got here [to work out it was quick] and it was rough as well as being quick. The whole day is a hell of an expense for owners and you lose trust with the racecourse.
"You get up here and there's no good ground. I thought we might find the odd patch of good, which we could live with, but no.
"Mine are winter horses, but I'd have been happy to run them on good ground, but not this. I'd imagine it's a £500-round trip for the horses. It's not a good advert for racing and you do lose faith with the track, but luckily this is a bit of a rarity, an extreme."
'It's tricky'
Clerk of the course Libby O'Flaherty responded by saying: "We were forecast 3-4mm yesterday and didn't get it, so I wouldn't have watered because the ground was genuinely good. Yesterday we had a lovely, drying day. Today was supposed to be cloudy, but this morning it was sunshine and breezy and it's dried out."
Asked if there were good areas in the morning, O'Flaherty added: "There were. There was a big dew on the track and I did change it [to good, good to firm in places from good this morning]. After the jockeys rode they said it had quickened up. If I'd watered and we had got the rain we'd have had good to soft. It's tricky."
Charlie Longsdon, who withdrew three of his four runners, had sympathy for O'Flaherty.
"I feel sorry for the clerk – it's a horrible job and I'd say she hasn't slept all night," he said.
"It is quick, too quick for my summer horse who did run, but I'm not apportioning blame."
'It's frustrating but these things happen'
That view was echoed by Seamus Mullins, 2017 president of the National Trainers' Federation.
He said: "The forecast was for rain, it didn't materialise and they haven't watered because of that. The ground has dried and it's frustrating, but these things happen; it's nobody's fault."
Champion jockey Richard Johnson described the ground as fast, but added it was in great condition, while on-course layer Stephen Rea said: "As a bookmaker it's desperate. It's killed our turnover. This race [the two-runner novice hurdle] I've taken £3 on, normally it'd be £600-£700, maybe even £1,000. You've only got to look and see people leaving; there's nobody here."

The BHA has made the unprecedented move of lodging an appeal against a decision of the disciplinary panel, in a case involving trainer Philip Hobbs.
Concerning an inquiry held on August 10, the BHA believes "the panel's interpretation of the rules in the original hearing was not correct" when it looked into whether Hobbs was in breach of the rules of racing on the grounds that prohibited substance cetirizine, an antihistamine for allergies, was found in a urine sample taken from Keep Moving following his third-placed finish at Ludlow on January 25 earlier this year.
The trainer was found to be in breach of rule (G)2.1, concerning the presence of a prohibited substance in a horse's sample and the five-year-old was disqualified.
However, no penalty was imposed as the panel found Hobbs to be within the conditions set out in rule (G)11.4 in that 'the prohibited substance was not administered intentionally by [him] or by any other person . . . and the [trainer] had taken all reasonable precautions to avoid violating rule 2.1'.
Explaining the decision to appeal, the BHA's chief regulatory officer Jamie Stier said: "The appeal of the BHA is intended to seek clarification in relation to the interpretation of rule (G)11.4 by the disciplinary panel.
"We are appealing against this decision on the basis of the principle alone, not the fact of the absence of the penalty against the respondent. Should the appeal be successful the BHA would be asking for only a nominal penalty to be imposed.
"We have made it clear that an appeal would only be lodged by the BHA in exceptional circumstances and when a decision of the panel may impact on the BHA's ability to regulate the sport effectively."
He added: "While we cannot go into detail regarding the specifics of this case ahead of the appeal hearing, we are of the view that the panel's interpretation of the rules in the original hearing was not correct and therefore an appeal was necessary to establish an agreed interpretation.
"This is the first time that the BHA has lodged an appeal against the decision of a disciplinary panel since the ability for the BHA to appeal was introduced in 2014."
In response, the NTF issued a statement, which read: "The NTF is disappointed that the BHA chose to appeal the finding of the panel as we consider that it made a correct interpretation of a rule that has concerned us for some time; the panel’s finding was a welcome change of approach.
"We do not believe the panel’s decision obstructs the BHA from regulating the sport. In fact, its effect will be to encourage good management practice in trainers’ yards."
The appeal will be heard on Monday and the BHA has agreed to indemnify all reasonable costs incurred in the event that the respondent is successful.

in today's sporting life............. The best bet in Murt Khan's Breaking It Down comes from this afternoon's meeting at Newton Abbot. 3.45 Newton Abbot preview There is a small but select field in the Weatherbys Racing Bank Intermediate Chase and it's a race that wouldn't look out of place at Cheltenham in the heart of the winter. Black Corton hasn't done much wrong in his recent runs but they've been in small fields and it's hard to get a real grasp on whether he warrants his rating of 150. He does though receive a lot of weight from his key rivals and potentially could have the run of the race. Connections of Frodon will be hoping he can emulate his achievements of last season, notching up six wins from nine runs. A tongue tie has been applied today and he faces some stiff opposition on his seasonal reappearance, but he's a young horse and is open to more improvement. One horse who I feel really warrants his rating is . I loved him as a hurdler and thought he had a bright future ahead of him early on in his career. It's been a bit of a mixed bag since he's gone chasing but he has shown signs of brilliance when putting it all together. I think the combination of class and a willing attitude will see him in the winners enclosure today and north of 2/1 seems fair. Our resident tipster Man On The Spot previews the races from Newmarket and York that will be shown live on ITV Racing on Friday. 13:50 Newmarket - Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes SOUND AND SILENCE is penalised for winning a Group 3 sprint in France last month but has already beaten several of these including runner-up Abel Handy at York in August. The Godolphin colt also got the better of To Wafij and Angel Force on the Knavesmire and looks the one to beat on that form. Mokaatil failed to land the odds on the all-weather earlier but made no mistake in a maiden at Ripon while Ballydoyle’s Battle Of Jericho came up just short over 7f in Listed company at Dundalk and drops down to the minimum trip for the first time. Pursuing The Dream won a Listed race in France earlier but struggled in the Flying Childers at Doncaster last month and the remainder have even more to find. 14:25 Newmarket - Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes DARK ROSE ANGEL was beaten only a head by Laurens in the Group 2 May Hill at Doncaster last month and has strong claims on collateral form. She finished in front of Nyaleti on that occasion and the latter subsequently finished ahead of third-placed Gavota in the Rockfel over track and trip. Roger Charlton’s filly also beat Hikmaa, Elizabeth Bennet and Butterscotch here while Anna Nerium got the better of Special Purpose and One Minute to land a Group 3 at Salisbury. I Can Fly made a winning start in maiden company at Dundalk for Aidan O’Brien and makes most appeal of those stepping up in class including Expressiy, Herecomesthesun and Altyn Orda.

Aidan O'Brien is rapidly closing in on Bobby Frankel's record and Anita Chambers believes he can close the gap on Friday. Aidan O'Brien is rapidly closing in on Bobby Frankel's record of 25 top-level wins in a year and Happily can contribute yet another Group One success in the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket. The Galileo filly has already put up two wins to help towards the record bid and while she is unlikely to be of much betting value, it is hard to side against her. Happily was evidently among the Ballydoyle top rank from an early point but looked likely to be eclipsed by better stablemates in due course after Magical edged her out in the Debutante Stakes. However, Happily roared back when clinging on to the Moyglare by a short head from that stablemate while she put the colts to the sword when winning the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at the Arc meeting nearly two weeks ago. This is a quick reappearance after what appeared to be a tough enough race, but O'Brien would not be running her if he did not think she was sufficiently recovered and Happily might not need to be a full force to win anyway. Roger Charlton's charge has looked a potential star in winning her first two outings, coming home six lengths clear on her second start in a novice event at Lingfield in August. She was duly well supported when upped to Group Three level two weeks ago but she was pretty keen from the off, prompting her rider to settle her in the pack. However, the breaks just did not come that day and she did not get a clear run until inside the final furlong, closing with purpose to be beaten under two lengths in third. The daughter of Bated Breath deserved plenty of credit for that run and she will surely be in the shake up again. Abel Handy can reverse recent York form with Sound And Silence in the Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes. The Declan Carroll-trained colt took a massive step up on moderate victories at Nottingham and Thirsk when being beaten just half a length on the Knavesmire, showing plenty of dash to be edged out on the line. Abel Handy appears to be making swift improvement and he would not have to find too much extra to account for the Godolphin runner this time. Dabyah has her first start since Royal Ascot and while a lengthy layoff is not ideal, she will at least be fresh for the Godolphin Stud And Stable Staff Awards Challenge Stakes. Winner of the Fred Darling way back in April, John Gosden's runner has been limited to just one outing since and she lost little in defeat behind Winter in the Coronation Stakes. Beaten three and a half lengths on that occasion, Dabyah looked as though she would appreciate dropping back from a mile so pitched in over seven furlongs here, she is worth an interest, particularly as the race conditions give her a handy pull with the likes of Massaat. Gold Star can bring up his hat-trick in the Unibet Handicap at York. He impressed with a bloodless three-and-three-quarter-length win at Wolverhampton last time, assuming control inside the distance in a 12-furlong heat and there is no reason to think he cannot see out this one-mile-six trip in similar style. Zabeel Prince is another on a roll and he is the obvious pick in the unibet.co.uk Handicap. This unexposed type has to deal with a 10lb hike following his recent Yarmouth verdict, but the Lope De Vega gelding looks the kind of horse who could eventually make his presence felt in Pattern events. 3 4 Happilyt12 29-0OR: 109D 13/8 Form: 711211T: A P O'BrienJ: R L Moore Live betting powered by Sporting Life suggestions: DOWNPATRICK: 2.15 Out Of The Loop, 2.50 Sois Gentil, 3.25 Novo Dawn, 4.00 Tranquil Magic, 4.35 Joey Sasa, 5.10 Wee Small Hours, 5.40 Dinnie's Vinnie. A review of the action from Exeter on Thursday including a taking hurdling debut from the promising If The Cap Fits. It will be interesting to see how high up the ladder If The Cap Fits can go this season after a perfect start to his new career at Exeter. Having finished a close fourth in the championship bumper at the Grand National meeting, there was plenty of excitement about his impending start to life over timber in the first division of the Download The App At 188Bet Novices' Hurdle. Noel Fehily decided to keep things simple on the Harry Fry-trained 1/2 favourite and bounced into an early lead he would not relinquish. Jumping like an old hand, it is only a matter of time before he finds himself back up in graded company as there were some nice horses in behind, including Emma Lavelle's Enniscoffey Oscar, second in the Aintree race and fourth on this occasion. "This is a lovely track to bring him for his first run over hurdles and he's having a good blow," said Fry. "He had really good bumper form and it was just a matter of getting started. I thought he jumped very slickly and now he will run through his novices, next time under a penalty, but we will take it steady with him." Follow Racing UK ✔@racing_UK If The Cap Fits justifies 1-2 favouritism with ease at @exeterraces. Tom O'Brien was on board the 13/2 winner who held off 100-1 chance Rocket Ronnie by a neck. Paul Nicholls' Coastal Tiep (7/4) may only be five but looked all stamina in beating Fry's odds-on favourite Wotzizname in the Great Point Media Beginners' Chase. Sam Twiston-Davies was registering his 48th winner of the season. "He was always going to be a chaser and he was a bit big today - he will definitely come on a fair bit for it and can only get better mentally as we give him more races," said Nicholls. "But Rome wasn't built in a day, so there will be no rush, we'll just let him run through his novices. He was big and bold at his fences and is one of a lot of novice chasers I like very much. "In fact we have more novice chasers among the 125 horses I have in and they should all being well win a lot of races." Trans Express (7/1) was a clear-cut four-length winner of the Great Point Media Handicap Hurdle for locals Sue and Lucy Gardner. A winner at the track last December, he had shown little worthwhile form since. Sue Gardner said: "It's always special having winners at my local course as we are based just four miles away as the crow flies. Trans Express is a very nice prospect and came here just under the mark he won over the course and distance in December. "I know Lucy is thrilled with him and I hope he can go forward now. He's among around a dozen I have in the yard." Robert Walford's Mr Medic (11/4 favourite) can expect a fair hike in the weights after an effortless success in the Bet £10 Get £20 At 188Bet Handicap Chase. Twice a winner over fences already, James Best kicked on some way out and coasted home by 14 lengths.

Tom CollinsFRIDAY TIPPING THE PUNT
BANKER
Limato (3.00 Newmarket)
A five-year-old hasn't won this race since Arabian Gleam came home first under Johnny Murtagh in 2009, but the classy Limato looks likely to buck that trend with conditions in his favour. Despite not being at his best this year, Limato has still run creditably in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee and July Cup this season and was only beaten half a length when dropped into Group 2 company at Goodwood last time out. He stayed the seven furlongs fine that day and despite Massaat boasting the highest rating, Limato is the best horse in the race.
6/4 Limato 3:00 Newmarket EYECATCHER
Torcello (4.10 Newmarket)
It's wise to follow potential improvers in this contest and Torcello, likely to go off around the 4-1 mark, is exactly that. Despite taking three runs to lose his maiden tag, the son of Born To Sea has improved rapidly since and won a Class 2 handicap at Newmarket last month with minimal fuss. Sent off the 8-11 favourite that day, Oisin Murphy, who maintains the ride, bounced out and never saw another rival. Raised 8lb for that success, he still looks relatively well-in off a mark of 93 and can score for the fourth time in seven starts.

Newmarket: David Milnes
Gold Star (3.55 York, nap)
This son of Nathaniel shaped as if this step up in trip would bring about some improvement when scoring over a mile and a half at Wolverhampton. David Egan gets on well with Saeed Bin Suroor's hope, who has worked well on the Limekilns.
5/1 Gold Star 3:55 York Others to follow Newmarket 1.50 Sound And Silence, 2.25 Dark Rose Angel, 3.00 Dabyah, 3.35 Magic Lily, 4.10 Melting Dew, 4.45 Winter Lightning, 5.20 Coconut Creme. Kempton 5.45 Justice Rock, 6.15 Midnightly, 6.45 Scandaleuse, 7.15 Kalakchee, 7.45 Melodies, 8.15 Ahlan Bil Zain, 8.45 Cool Team. Lambourn: James Burn
Dutch Connection (3.00 Newmarket, nap)
Seven furlongs on decent ground suits this classy five-year-old, whose trainer Charlie Hills has his string in good nick.
6/1 Dutch Connection 3:00 Newmarket Others to follow Kempton 6.15 Thammin, 7.15 Secratario, 8.15 Azaly, 8.45 Traveller, 9.15 Rum Swizzle. York 3.20 Awesome, 3.55 Star Rock. North: Richard Young
Nicholas T (2.45 York, nap)
Hasn't lasted home in competitive handicaps over further on his last two starts, but is much better suited by a mile and the pick of this season's form gives him a decent chance.
25/1 Nicholas T 2:45 York Others to follow Newmarket 1.50 Abel Handy, 3.35 Laurens, 4.10 Hochfeld, Kempton 5.45 Lady Joanna Vassa, 8.15 Sidewinder, 8.45 Kitten's Johnstown. York 2.10 Canford's Joy, 3.20 Machree, 3.55 Star Of The East, 4.30 Tylery Wonder, 5.05 Salazar, 5.35 Short Work. West Country: Andrew King
Daklondike (4.55 Newton Abbot, nap)
Was always going to make a better chaser than hurdler and is expected to make a winning start to his career over fences.
11/2 Daklondike 4:55 Newton Abbot Others to follow Newton Abbot 2.00 Pointed And Sharp, 2.35 Diego Du Charmil, 3.10 Whataknight, 3.45 Frodon, 4.20 G For Ginger, 5.25 River Bray. Newmarket 4.10 Duke Of Bronte. Racing Post Ratings: Simon Turner
Guzman (2.10 York)
Looks to be on a fair mark, will have no problem with the predicted easy ground and suspicion is a test such as this could suit him ideally.
16/1 Guzman 2:10 York Topspeed: Dave Edwards
Melting Dew (4.10 Newmarket)
Has produced some solid efforts in defeat this term and Sir Michael Stoute's progressive three-year-old would not be winning out of turn.
10/1 Melting Dew 4:10 Newmarket Longshot: Neil McCabe
Here And Now (4.10 Newmarket)
Been running consistently well all season and was just touched off in a big handicap at York last time out. He should get ideal conditions here and can go close again.
10/1 Here And Now 4:10 Newmarket Ireland: Tony O'Hehir
Santa Monica (8.00 Dundalk)
Charles O'Brien's four-year-old filly boasts winning form over course and distance and has scored at Group 3 level when winning over 1m4f at Cork in June. The daughter of Mastercraftsman finished well when fourth behind War Decree in a Group 3 over this course and trip last month and she gets the vote to score under Billy Lee.

Stephen Cummins has a good record at Kempton (57 per cent strike-rate) and he goes there for just the one ride aboard course-and-distance winner Bluff Crag in the 8.45.
Roger Charlton’s yard is in great form at the moment with a 39 per cent strike-rate over the past two weeks. He runs Gavota in the Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket (2.25). This filly is highly regarded by connections.
Ian Williams is 6-27 (22 per cent) when his runners reappear within seven days of achieving a career-best Topspeed. Shady McCoy returned a figure of 89 when winning at Ascot last week and can defy a 6lb penalty in the 5.35 at York.

Gordon Elliott labelled the stable yard at Thurles “not good enough” as he fumed over a lack of accommodation for runners at the track on Thursday.
Elliott revealed Thurles were 31 stables short for their opening fixture of the season, meaning many horses were denied access to the racetrack until later in the day, instead having to wait in lorries.
Horses were forced to stay in the car park for longer than what would be normal on the day of a race, which Elliott took exception to.
Speaking after sending out Vengeful to win on his stable debut in the two-mile maiden hurdle, he said on Thursday: “They [Thurles] are 31 stables short today and, in this day and age, I don’t think it’s good enough.
“The horses need to come first, but my horses that are running later are still out in the lorry. I’m not making this about me either as there’s loads of other trainers out there in the same position.
“We go on about health and safety and this and that, and yet you turn up to the races and there isn’t even a stable for every horse. A stable is the least you expect when you go racing and I don’t think it’s good enough.”
Rare occurrence
Many courses use temporary stables to accommodate an overflow of horses on the day of a race meeting – Bellewstown being the most obvious example.
Thurles, the only privately-owned course in Ireland and situated in County Tipperary, countered that the unusually high field sizes contributed to the shortage.
Speaking on behalf of the track, Riona Molony, mother of the manager, Kate, said: “We obliged the trainers by having a divide on the card which is why there’s a shortage of stables.
She added: “We wouldn’t have had enough time to put in temporary facilities and we’d also have nowhere to put them.
"We have an above-average number of runners today and it's a one-off as far as we're concerned. It’s not something that happens here normally.”
Born to jump a fence
Robbie Power offered Alan Potts a timely reminder as to why he is widely regarded as one of the best riders over a fence with a brilliant display aboard the owner’s Born To Size in the opening beginners’ chase.
Born To Size, trained by Liam Burke, is a horse with plenty of ability but he counters that by being a difficult ride. However, the five-year-old looked like a model professional on his chasing debut under Power, who was quick to praise the efforts of the trainer and his team.
Power said: “He's a bit highly strung but Liam [Burke] always felt that fences would help him settle a bit better. Liam and Richie Harding have done a fantastic job with him and he paid a lot more attention to his fences. He was too free and never really paid attention over hurdles.”
Mullinavat makes it look easy
The prize for the most impressive winner of the day went to the Henry de Bromhead-trained Mullinavat, who won as a long odds-on shot should in the first division of the 2m handicap hurdle.
Better known as a chaser, Mullinavat made a mockery of his lenient hurdles rating at Tramore recently, and this success – his third on the bounce – suggested he should be up to winning more races over hurdles.
Thought for the day There was a most unsatisfactory start to the second division of the handicap hurdle when Jessicor failed to jump off on terms under jockey Roger Loughran. The stewards did look into the matter but were satisfied a fair start had taken place and took no further action.

Dundalk and Kempton provide evening racing with plenty of interesting angles, including the Irish champion jockey duel between Pat Smullen and Colin Keane that continues and a Listed race which features one of the best-bred fillies in training.
Gather (7.45 Kempton)
Not quite a repeat of the Fillies' Mile run today at Newmarket but this is another race for two-year-old fillies over a mile and it features some well-bred youngsters.
All the money has been for the Cliveden Stud’s Melodies, who improved on her debut when second in a Newbury maiden. Gather is a similar sort who stepped up on her debut run when chasing home previous winner Teppal after racing prominently. This trip could bring more improvement.
15/2 Gather 7:45 Kempton (AW) Goldrush (8.00 Dundalk)
It was a long time in the making but Goldrush’s debut last month at the age of three was worth waiting for after she was sold as a yearling to the China Horse Club for 1.7m euros. This Frankel daughter of the wonderful racemare Alexander Goldrun took apart an 18-runner maiden at Navan and now bids for some important black type in the Listed contest.
The step up in class and distance is befitting of Goldrush's family profile as her mother is remembered for her Group 1 haul that included two Pretty Pollys, a Nassau and a Hong Kong Cup.
7/2 Goldrush 8:00 Dundalk (AW) Ben Rumson (9.00 Dundalk)
The last of seven rides on the card for jockeys’ title leader Colin Keane and this five-year-old, who is looking to follow up an impressive win, returned to the Flat last time over this course and distance last month.
The handicapper has put him up 5lb but Colin Keane clicked with this son of Ask when riding him for the first time and keeps the ride as he bids to fend off Pat Smullen, who happens to ride the market rival Jock Talk.
5/2 Ben Rumson 9:00 Dundalk (AW)

Hereford's limited capacity to water the track means Tuesday's fixture, which would have been the anniversary of its return to action after it was closed in 2012, has been switched to Worcester.
This, the BHA said, was because of the likelihood of unsuitable ground – described as firm on Friday – and a dry weather forecast.
The new card will reflect Hereford's with adjustments for distances and safety factors where necessary at Worcester, which was hit by a host of going-related non-runners at its meeting on Thursday.
That has prompted the BHA to ensure conditions are suitable there and the governing body's head of raceday operations Emma Marley said: "Unfortunately, due to Hereford's restricted irrigation capacity, warm and dry weather forecast for this weekend and likelihood of unsuitable going, the fixture due to take place there on October 17 has now been transferred to Worcester.
"Understandably this transfer may raise questions due to Worcester's high non-runner rate following quick ground experienced on Thursday.
"However, under the circumstances it was clear that the most sensible option was to restage the fixture as nearby as possible.
"The track is watering ahead of Tuesday and it is our expectation and belief that suitable ground will be provided for runners on Tuesday."
Jon Pullin, racing director at Arena Racing Company, which owns both tracks, said plans to improve the watering system at Hereford for the 2018-19 campaign were being put in place.
"We've been watering as much as possible – over 50mm recently – but currently have limited capacity to do so, and therefore cannot guarantee safe ground on Tuesday, especially when many winter jumping horses may be having their first run of the season," he said.
"We're at an advanced stage of commencing plans to ensure full watering capabilities at Hereford for the 2018-19 season and will provide an update in due course.
"Customers with tickets for Hereford's fixture on Tuesday can transfer them and either attend racing at Worcester on October 17 or one of Hereford's three fixtures in November and December. For further information please contact the Hereford team on 01432 273 560."

Charlie Appleby is confident course and distance winner Ghaiyyath can take a step up in class in his stride in the Masar Godolphin Autumn Stakes on Saturday. The Dubawi colt was a promising third on his Doncaster debut in mid-September and showed the benefit of that experience when bolting up over Newmarket's Rowley Mile little over a fortnight ago. He tests the water at Group Three level this weekend in the hands of James Doyle. Appleby told "I was pleased with Ghaiyyath's course and distance victory and he came out of that race very well. "This looks the logical next step and I am confident that he is going into the race in very good order. I am hopeful of a very bold showing." Ghaiyyath features in a nine-runner field that also features John Gosden's Lingfield scorer Purser, the Aidan O'Brien-trained pair Flag Of Honour and Zabriskie and Dream Today from Mark Johnston's yard. Gosden said: "He is in good form and he had a nice little warm up run the other day at Lingfield. "He needs to strengthen through the winter as he is still quite unfurnished. "I'd like to think we will run here then call it a day for the year. He has got a good mind on him but he is a bit of a frame of a horse. "He should be alright going up to the mile." Dream Today looked a high-class prospect after winning the Convivial Maiden at York on his racecourse debut, but could only finish fifth when well fancied for the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster. Charlie Johnston, assistant to his father, said: "He won really well and you don't win that race on your debut unless you're pretty smart. "Bizarrely, he was probably more green on his second start at Doncaster than he was on his first run. He just wandered around a little bit when he came under pressure and we have to hope he learns more from getting beat than he did from winning. "This is a little bit of a step down in class from the Champagne. It's still a tough ask, but we're confident our horse is a Group horse in the making and we think these are the races he should be competing in." Appleby and Johnston also saddle major contenders in the Godolphin Flying Start Zetland Stakes, the opening contest on a seven-race card. Rastrelli is on a hat-trick for Appleby following September successes at Brighton and at this venue. "Rastrelli did his best work towards the end over a mile last time and I feel that the step up to 10 furlongs is going to suit. He goes into this race in good shape," Appleby said. The Johnston-trained Dee Ex Bee bids for Listed honours 13 days after landing a conditions event at Epsom. "This sort of race is tailor-made for him," Charlie Johnston added. "Stepping up to a mile and a quarter won't be a problem for him. In fact, I'm certain he'll improve for it. "We think he'll be a nice middle-distance horse next year and at this stage of the season, it will be about stamina on Saturday. "We don't have any issues or queries on that score." The second Listed prize of the afternoon is the Darley EBF Stallions Boadicea Stakes. Queen Kindly heads a 13-strong line-up and faces Malcolm Saunders-trained course and distance winner Pixeleen, Thafeera, who has won her last three starts for Charlie Hills, and Charlie McBride's Spiritual Lady, who won the Bosra Sham Fillies' Stakes here 12 months ago. The final race of the day is the Group Three Darley Club Stakes. Sovereign Debt won his three starts after joining Ruth Carr, but has been penalised since and must concede weight all round once more. "He's really done us proud but his penalty makes life very difficult for him," said Carr. "As usual it looks a very competitive race but he's going down there as the joint top-rated, the thing is his penalty makes it tougher. "It certainly won't be a pushover but you don't expect that in a Group Two. "If he can pick up some more place money we'd be delighted, he certainly doesn't owe us." Chris Wall's First Sitting beat Garlingari in a Group Three at Deauville on his penultimate start, but was a long way behind the same horse in in the Prix Dollar at Chantilly a fortnight ago. "He came back from France in good form. He just ran a bit flat on the day for whatever reason, whether it was the ground or the nature of the track, I'm not sure," said Wall. "He should have been competitive really as he'd beaten the winner the time before. Frankie (Dettori) looked after him once his chance had gone which has allowed us to run him again. "The 3lb penalty he has to carry for winning the Group Three doesn't help his cause, but we're happy with him and hopefully he can end his season with a good run."

View Stewards report Newmarket, 13 Oct 17 Race 1 - 1:50pm THE NEWMARKET ACADEMY GODOLPHIN BEACON PROJECT CORNWALLIS STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 3) Permission was given for SPOOF to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider two incidents of interference approaching the final furlong, in the first incident when TO WAFIJ (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Andrea Atzeni had interfered with MRS GALLAGHER, unplaced, ridden by Josephine Gordon. The riders were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident. The interference was found to be accidental as TO WAFIJ (IRE) shifted marginally left causing MRS GALLAGHER to have to be eased momentarily. At the same time, in the second incident, BATTLE OF JERICHO (USA), unplaced, ridden by Ryan Moore, interfered with ANGEL FORCE (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Oisin Murphy, which in turn interfered with SANKARI ROYALE (IRE), unplaced. The riders were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident. Moore was cautioned for careless riding as he began to manoeuvre right into a tight gap before taking corrective action causing ANGEL FORCE (IRE) to have to take a check and SANKARI ROYALE (IRE) to be taken off its intended line.
Following the race Ryan Moore reported that BATTLE OF JERICHO (USA), unplaced, was denied a clear run. Josephine Gordon reported that MRS GALLAGHER, unplaced, anticipated the start and was denied a clear run. The Veterinary Officer reported that SANKARI ROYALE (IRE), unplaced, lost a right hind shoe.
Race 2 - 2:25pm THE GODOLPHIN LIFETIME CARE OH SO SHARP STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 3) Permission was given for ONE MINUTE (IRE) to go early to post and noted that it would wear earplugs which would be removed at the start.
ALTYN ORDA (IRE), ridden by Andrea Atzeni, jinked on the way to the start, unseated the rider and cantered loose for a short time. Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and the Medical Officer, both the filly and rider were deemed fit to race.
Following the race Tom Marquand reported that ANNA NERIUM, unplaced, hung left. Frankie Dettori reported that DARK ROSE ANGEL (IRE), unplaced, ran flat.
Race 3 - 3:00pm THE GODOLPHIN STUD AND STABLE STAFF AWARDS CHALLENGE STAKES (CLASS 1)(Group 2) Following the race James Doyle reported that DUTCH CONNECTION, which was pulled up, stumbled leaving the stalls and lost its action. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of DUTCH CONNECTION found the horse to be slightly lame behind. Frankie Dettori reported that DABYAH (IRE), unplaced, ran flat.
Race 4 - 3:35pm THE bet365 FILLIES' MILE (CLASS 1) (Group 1) William Buick, the rider of MAGIC LILY, placed third, was suspended for days for using his whip above the permitted level from two furlongs out.
Race 5 - 4:10pm THE bet365 OLD ROWLEY CUP HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2) (HERITAGE HANDICAP) EYNHALLOW wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
The Starter reported that HIGH END, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, was unruly in the stalls. The trainer was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final half furlong when EYNHALLOW, placed second, ridden by Sean Levey interfered with the winner, FIRST NATION, ridden by William Buick. The riders were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident. Levey was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left away from the whip without sufficient correction giving FIRST NATION a bump and taking him off its intended line.
Following the race Jim Crowley reported that HIGH END, unplaced, got upset in the preliminaries. Frankie Dettori reported that INTREPIDLY (USA), unplaced, ran flat. Sean Levey reported that EYNHALLOW, placed second, hung badly left. Noel Garbutt reported that MEDALLA DE ORO, placed sixth, hung badly left causing him to be unable to ride out in the closing stages.
Race 6 - 4:45pm THE GODOLPHIN UNDER STARTERS ORDERS MAIDEN FILLIES' STAKES (CLASS 4) (PLUS 10 RACE) Permission was given for ESME KATE (IRE) and VERACIOUS to wear a hood in the parade ring.
Race 7 - 5:20pm THE JOIN CLUB GODOLPHIN PRIDE STAKES (CLASS 1) (Listed Race) Permission was given for ARCHITECTURE (IRE) to wear a hood in the parade ring. COCONUT CREAM wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
Following the race Andrea Atzeni reported that UAE QUEEN, unplaced, stopped quickly. View Stewards report Kempton Park, 13 Oct 17 Race 1 - 5:45pm THE racinguk.com HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 7) Permission was given for ESSAKA (IRE), LADY JOANNA VASSA (IRE) and DALALAH to go early to post. DALALAH wore earplugs.
Following the race, John Fahy reported that MOLLY JONES, unplaced, hung left-handed throughout.
Race 2 - 6:15pm THE 32Red HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) Permission was given for COME ON DAVE (IRE) to go early to post, and for SAVED MY BACON (IRE) and ANNIE SALTS to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
Shortly after leaving the stalls, MAJESTIC HERO (IRE), drawn 6, jumped left-handed at the same time as OH SO SASSY, drawn 8, jumped right-handed and, as a consequence, FOXY FOREVER (IRE), drawn 7, was left short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Dane O’Neill, the rider of THAMMIN, placed second, used his whip above the permitted level inside the final 1 ½ furlongs. As the offence warranted a suspension of between 2 and 6 days and taking into account that this was the rider’s fifth such suspension within the previous 6 months, O’Neill was referred to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Following the race, David Probert reported that FOXY FOREVER (IRE), placed fourth, was slowly away.

Euchen Glen 20-1 Betfred Cesarewitch Handicap, 3.40 Newmarket, Saturday
Has found a bit more for step up to 2m, winning at Ascot (at the Shergar Cup) and then finishing well for third behind Magic Circle at York, when he might well have given the winner something to think about if getting out of a pocket a bit sooner; should get plenty of cover from stall 20 and, unexposed as a stayer, is of strong interest.

Newmarket: David Milnes
Ghaiyyath (2.25 Newmarket, nap)
Convincing winner of a course-and-distance maiden last time and runs here instead of the Racing Post Trophy. Charlie Appleby’s colt worked well on the Limekilns on Wednesday.

This race has long been the plan for this five-year-old, who has a touch of class and should relish the marathon trip.

Roxyfet (5.10 Hexham, nap)
Has slipped to a good mark, the stable is among the winners and a sound surface was against him on last three starts. Ground conditions much more to fancied to return to winning ways.
16/1 Roxyfet 5:10 Hexham Others to follow Chepstow 4.10 Sam Spinner. Hexham 2.15 Niceandeasy, 2.50 Log On, 3.25 Tetraites Style, 4.00 Purcell’s Bridge, 4.35 Bellaney Knight, 5.40 Senor Lombardy. Racing Post Ratings: Paul Curtis
Mr Lupton (3.15 York, nap)
Has a good record in big fields, as when beating subsequent Stewards’ Cup winner Dancing Star in a big handicap over course and distance last year, and races off 2lb lower than when winning at Newmarket in May.
10/1 Mr Lupton 3:15 York Topspeed: Dave Edwards
Who Dares Wins (3.40 Newmarket)
Landed a strongly run trial over course and distance last month and Alan King’s versatile five-year-old can shrug off his penalty.
11/1 Who Dares Wins 3:40 Newmarket Longshot: Simon Giles
Captain Navarre (5.00 York)
Entitled to take a big step forward from stable and seasonal debut last time and could have more to offer trying this trip for the first time off 1lb below his last winning mark.
10/1 Captain Navarre 5:00 York Ireland Tony O’Hehir
Drombeg Dream (3.55 Cork)
Finished well when beaten half a length by the useful Warm The Voice at Listowel last time and makes plenty of appeal.
2/1 Drombeg Dream 3:55 Cork

Nigel Twiston-Davies has a 23 per cent strike-rate in this period in the last five years and he runs Wholestone, who makes his handicap debut in the 4.10. The trainer won this with a similar type last year.
When Kevin Ryan and Kevin Stott combine at York, they operate at a 23 per cent strike-rate. Syphax goes in the 2.05 for the pair. His only try over this distance was in the Dante where he was seventh and he is worth another go.
Richard Hughes and Stephen Cummins operate at an impressive 67 per cent strike-rate when combining at Kempton. They have two rides on the card with Let’s Be Happy looking to have the best chance in the 9.15.
Native Optimist has won three times from 11 starts at Hexham. The softer surface should be in his favour and he can add to his course record.

The best bet in Murt Khan's Breaking It Down column comes from this afternoon's meeting at Chepstow while he's added one at a big price at Hexham. 4.10 Chepstow preview Click here for racecard and free video form came with a big reputation when moving over from France to Colin Tizzard's yard. He went off 4/1 favourite from a mark of 162 on his British debut and was pulled up late on having never looked happy. Next time up at Exeter, he was a lot more promising and it looked like he could do with a drop in trip. Connections then took their chance in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham and he was never competitive although he travelled quite well. Today he makes his seasonal reappearance over hurdles running off a slightly more realistic mark of 146. The Tizzard horses look reasonably forward and a trip just shy of two-and-a-half miles with a bit of dig could turn out to be his conditions. He's a big horse and could spring a surprise today at 16/1. 5.10 Hexham preview Click here for racecard & free video form has clearly had a few issues in the past and was rated higher a fair bit higher two years ago. He had a nice pipe opener at Sedgefield after a long break and didn’t run badly in a slow-run race on decent ground. Next time out at Southwell he fell pretty early. Today he has a bit of dig underfoot which should suit. It’s hard to make a case for a lot of these and at . Recommended bets Click here for our transparent tipping record. Ben Linfoot has three Value Bet selections on Cesarewitch day, including a 66/1 chance in the big one and two tips at York including in the Coral Sprint Trophy. The Betfred Cesarewitch has produced some real turn ups in recent years, with 66/1, 66/1, 50/1, 50/1 and 25/1 winners returned since 2008. With 34 horses charging over 2m2f through two counties and around one bend perhaps it’s not that surprising and it does help explain the fact they bet 8/1 the field, despite the favourite John Constable having outstanding claims. Formerly trained by Aidan O’Brien, he’s thrived over hurdles on recent starts for Evan Williams and if he translates that improvement to this Flat assignment he’s going to be tough to beat. We’ve seen many horses that look thrown-in disappoint in this race over the years, though, and with some really enticing each-way offers about (Sky Bet and William Hill are paying EIGHT places on each-way bets at 1/5 the odds) I’m drawn to one at a massive price. That horse is POYLE THOMAS (66/1 Sky Bet and Hills 1/5 the odds eight places) and he’s well worth a small each-way wager at huge odds. He’s clearly not the easiest to train, as 15 starts for an eight-year-old shows, but he’s got plenty of ability and is worth forgiving his two runs for his new yard this season. The first thing to say is that he’s well handicapped, even though he’s 4lb wrong at the weights. When he was with Ralph Beckett he won off 83 and was beaten a short head twice off 90, the same rating he was third off in the Northumberland Plate consolation race, while he was fourth at Goodwood over 2m4f off 92. Racing off 88 on Saturday, he’s handicapped to have a big say on his best form and George Wood, going for the 'Autumn Double', takes a useful 3lb off as well (Wood rode a 14/1 winner for Poyle Thomas’s new trainer, Michael Madgwick, at Salisbury last week and that was his third victory for the stable this season). He also has really good form on the Rowley Mile. He wasn’t a bad 11th, by any means, in this very race four years ago, but his best effort came when he ran Desert Encounter to a short head at the track in the May of last year. That was on fast ground and Saturday’s conditions, ‘Good’ with no rain forecast, are absolutely key to the bet. In two runs for Madgwick he’s been beaten on soft ground, but he’s much better on a sounder surface and you can put a line through his last run at Ascot as he lost all chance at the start and was eased down late on when winning was not an option. Before that, he actually didn’t shape too badly at Newbury and it’s that run that gives encouragement with Saturday in mind. Back on better ground, off a competitive mark, from a perfectly fair draw in 13 and with a good claimer on board, Poyle Thomas can run a big race at odds as big as 80s, although taking the eight places at 66/1 looks the way to go. Eastern Impact Eastern Impact It’s a good card at York as well and though this fixture can often be wet they’re racing on ‘Good’ ground on the Knavesmire and no rain is forecast either. Thats excellent news for EASTERN IMPACT and at 25/1 (General) it’s worth chancing the conditions can see him bounce back to winning form as he’s become really well handicapped. Rated 113 at his very best, Eastern Impact is now off 97, his lowest mark for three years and, earlier in the season, he was running well enough to exploit such a rating. A close third off 102 at Wolverhampton, a second off the same mark at Newmarket and his two-and-a-half-length seventh off 104 in the Wokingham could well all have been good enough runs to win off 97, but he has been well below par on his last three runs. Cut in the ground doesn’t suit him at all, though, while he had no chance when on the wrong side of the track at Doncaster last time, so it’s worth forgiving him those efforts now he’s racing off a really competitive rating on ideal ground. Finally, SYPHAX looks worth chancing at 11/1 (General) in the Download The Coral App Handicap at 2.05. He’s far from straightforward but has been crying out for some headgear and Kevin Ryan reaches for the first-time cheekpieces for this return to 10 furlongs. I don’t think he shaped too badly over a mile last time and going half a stride slower over this trip looks likely to help him, even if he was outclassed when he last tried it in the Dante. Running in this off 98 is a much more suitable assignment, however, and he was rated 110 at the start of the season following his win in the Acomb at this track as a juvenile. He looks fairly treated now and his trainer has a superb record when applying the first-time headgear (Timeform stats reveal he has a +£55.55 profit with horses in first-time headgear over the last five years). Recommended Bets: Value Bet Sky Bet Price Promise Sky Bet are offering EXTRA VALUE to followers of the Sporting Life Value Bet column with guaranteed advertised prices for at least 15 minutes from 1715 BST on the day of publication. Ben Linfoot's Value Bet aim: The Value Bet is designed to generate long-term profit by searching for overpriced horses in the feature weekend races and at the big Festivals in the UK. Running total: +342.39pts to advised stakes/prices (from inception of Value Bet column in January 2010 to current).
