16:40 Wednesday 17th September Racing Tips - 17/09/2014
Heaney has to go up for the Kerry National given his form. He ran really well in the Irish National, was a touch disappointing when 7/2 fav last time, but his Munster Natonal form behind Spring Heeled, Jamsie Hall and Double Seven is the best on show, all of whom have won / gone close off higher marks. Heaney returns off 2lb lower and is overpriced at 11/1. I was going to put up Jacksonslady next but am surprised Balnaslow is as big as 16/1. He's inconsistent but has a big pot in him and is still well treated. The worry is the trip and it might stretch him but his rider has had a good week and Mullins has won this a few times with 7 year olds. I like this one's profile at a price. Listowel 16.40 - Heaney 1pt e/w Listowel 16.40 - Balnaslow 1pt e/w
Earlier on the card sees Tarana as a likeable favourite but this looks a little tougher than the Listed race she won last time over the same trip with runners rated 110, 104 and 106. The last of those is Altruistic who is interesting but probably best watched. 3 year olds have taken the last 2 runnings of this and I thought Vintage Nouveau would be closer in the betting to the favourite than 9/2. She was a touch unlucky last time but is still improving and looked Listed class when winning well at Down Royal in handicap company off 88 on quick ground. She is getting 13lb from the fav but officially has just 9lb to find on ratings thanks to her age allowance and looks sure to appreciate the step up in trip. Listowel 15.35 - Vintage Nouveau 1pt win

Scottish Grand National-winning jockey Richie McGrath and former trainer Kate Walton have been charged with passing on inside information.
McGrath, who won the Ayr showpiece on Ryalux in 2003, and Walton will face a British Horseracing Authority disciplinary panel hearing provisionally scheduled for November 11.
It is alleged the pair conspired with registered persons Mark Aspey, Carl Flint, Kristian Robson, David Stevens and David Greenwood and/or others unknown to use inside information about the likely performance of horses for betting purposes.
It is also alleged McGrath was prepared, if necessary, to omit to ride the horse on its merits so as to prevent it from winning or being placed in the race.
Aspey, Flint, Robson, Stevens and/or Greenwood are alleged, in the period between about January 1, 2011 and May 13, 2011, to have acted in breach of the rules by placing lay bets on Rumble Of Thunder when they knew they - or were reckless as to whether they - were prohibited from doing so as Listed Persons.
The BHA said a total of 57 races are potentially involved in the investigation, from October 2009 until April 2012.
McGrath's solicitor Andrew Chalk said the rider, who is a board member at the Professional Jockeys Association, was "shocked" at the charges and "vigorously maintains his innocence".
Speaking on behalf of McGrath, who has not ridden this season, Chalk, partner at Withy King, said in a statement: "Richie is shocked and bitterly disappointed to be facing charges, but vigorously maintains his innocence and intends to fight to clear his name, however financially straining that may be.
"However, this case yet again highlights the vast imbalance in resources between the prosecuting authority and those who have to defend themselves, often with their livelihood at stake. A fair hearing demands a level playing field, but these cases are rarely played out on such a surface.
"Additionally, Richie has informed the Professional Jockeys Association that, whilst he fights to clear his name, he will temporarily stand down as a board member of the PJA."
Paul Struthers, chief executive of the PJA, said: "We respect Richie's decision to temporarily stand down from being on our board. In the meantime, it is the PJA's role to support Richie where we are able and we will offer every assistance we can to him."
Walton had her last runners in the 2012-13 jumps season, and is being represented by solicitor Rory Mac Neice, who echoed Chalk's feelings on financial disadvantage and also said his client has yet to see any information relating to the charges.
He said: "The BHA has publicised the fact of charges without first providing Kate with sight of any of the evidence on which it is based. There's no good reason for that and puts Kate at a significant disadvantage.
"Kate was interviewed two years ago and there is no good reason why the BHA should have taken the step of announcing charges whilst making the decision not to allow Kate sight of the evidence.
"We understand the evidence is not going to be produced by the BHA until, at the earliest, September 22. The BHA has the evidence but has decided not to give it to Kate until a time convenient to them and has not explained why."

Champions Day at Ascot or a trip to Canada are two possible options for Encke following his creditable run when third in the Irish St Leger.
The five-year-old won the 2012 St Leger at Doncaster but his subsequent career stalled as he served a six-month ban as one of the horses caught up in the Mahmood Al Zarooni drugs scandal, missing the whole of 2013.
Now with Charlie Appleby, the Godolphin-owned Encke posted an excellent effort upon his return, when second over 12 furlongs at Goodwood, before stepping back up to a mile and six furlongs to chase home the enterprisingly-ridden Brown Panther and Leading Light at the Curragh on Sunday.
The British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot on October 18, for which he would need to be supplemented, is now on Encke's radar, although the Canadian International the following day remains an alternative option.
Appleby said: "He's come out the race well, we were happy with the run and he travelled well, too.
"There's a couple of options for him now, we could step him up again to two miles and look towards Champions Day or there is the possibility we could go the other way and drop back to a mile and a half for the Canadian International.
"He showed at Goodwood he is still capable of running well over a mile and a half but it's really just a matter of options.
"We wouldn't want extremes of going for him and you don't really know what the weather will be like next month.
"We would have to supplement him for Ascot and if the ground was good or just on the easy side that would be fine, but if it were to be at either extreme, we might look to Canada and ride him more positively.
"I would say Ascot is realistically the more likely option, though."

Dermot Weld is eyeing a crack at Newmarket's Vision.ae Challenge Stakes with either Mustajeeb or Tested.
Mustajeeb, who won the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, finished second in the Boomerang Mile at Leopardstown over the weekend, while Tested claimed the Group Three Fairy Bridge Stakes by an impressive four lengths on her most recent outing at Tipperary.
Weld has now set his sights on the seven-furlong event, with his pair featuring among 39 entries for the Group Two on October 17.
He said: "Both Mustajeeb and Tested are potential Group One performers and one or the other will probably run in the Challenge Stakes.
"Newmarket's stiff seven furlongs should be ideal for either horse.
"Mustajeeb produced a very good run at Leopardstown on Saturday and I think that will turn out to be an excellent run as the third horse Gordon Lord Byron is a very good yardstick.
"Mustajeeb nearly broke the course record at Royal Ascot and it was always the intention to then give him a break and bring him back for an autumn campaign.
"Tested is in great form at the moment and we will definitely look at the Challenge Stakes for her."
The Weld pair are part of a six-strong Irish entry along with Aidan O'Brien's Darwin, the Jim Bolger pair of Leitir Mor and Tobann, the Tracey Collins-trained Majestic Queen and Eddie Lynam's Viztoria.
Last year's runner-up Amarillo heads a two-pronged German challenge with Mogadishio.
The home team features no less than five last-time-out Group winners - Breton Rock, Here Comes When, Captain Cat, Coulsty and Kiyoshi.
Three entries from France include Thawaany, runner-up in the Prix Maurice de Gheest on her latest outing.
Both Thawaany and Kiyoshi are also among 24 possible runners the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at HQ on October 4.

Forever Now will embark on his winter break with connections hoping he can develop into a leading stayer next term.
The Galileo colt finished sixth, beaten five lengths by Kingston Hill, in the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster on what was just his sixth career start.
John Gosden's charge was taking a big step up to Group One company after previously winning a Goodwood Listed heat and Hugo Lascelles, racing manager to owner Lady Bamford, was delighted with his effort.
He said: "We were very pleased with him, he's still immature and weak, but he's been raised to a mark of 110.
"He will be put away for the year now and we hope he can be a Cup horse next year, he's got a chance."
Stablemate Eagle Top, winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, has been off the track since finishing fourth behind Taghrooda in the King George at Ascot in July.
He is still entered for the Qipco Champion Stakes on October 18, for which he is a 10-1 chance, but appears an unlikely runner.
Lascelles said: "He's probably going to be put away for the year as well."

Marco Botti is hoping Energia Davos can spark a fruitful few weeks by landing the first leg of the autumn double, the Betfred Cambridgeshire at Newmarket on September 27.
The nine-furlong prize is worth £160,000 this term and is followed two weeks later by the £250,000 Betfred Cesarewitch, in which Botti has De Rigueur and Suegioo.
The Brazilian-bred Energia Davos is a 16-1 chance with the sponsors after he scored his first success outside of South America at Haydock.
"Energia Davos is in very good form, we have just been waiting for some cut in the ground with him," Botti said.
"He has entries at both Newbury and Ayr this weekend but I do not want to risk him on good to firm ground.
"He likes a strong pace and I think that he will be competitive off his current rating. He did win a Group One in Brazil but he was much younger then and I can't say that he is still up to that level."
De Rigueur is already a winner on the Rowley Mile this term and went on to land the valuable Old Newton Cup at Haydock, while Suegioo lifted the Chester Cup in May before finishing runner-up in the Northumberland Plate.
He also finished third in the Mallard handicap at last week's St Leger meeting at Doncaster.
"The Cesarewitch has always been one of De Rigueur's major targets," Botti said.
"I have no concerns over the trip and on soft ground he is still a well handicapped horse, so he could have a good chance.
"The ground was too fast for him in the Ebor (16th of 19 runners) - he wouldn't let himself down - and then we took a chance running him at Chester a week later (when he finished third) but I don't think he was at his best that day.
"He is one of those horses would does not want too many races and needs to be kept fresh.
"Suegioo ran a good race at Doncaster last week and should also have a good chance. He gets the trip well and has run some good races at Newmarket in the past - he was unlucky in a valuable race there last year."
De Rigueur and Suegioo are 20-1 shots with the sponsors for the Cesarewitch.
The John Gosden-trained Cornrow is the ante-post favourite for the Cambridgeshire at 10-1 ahead of last year's winner, Educate, one of three 14-1 second-favourites.
Quick Jack, from the Irish yard of Tony Martin heads the Cesarewitch market at 8-1.

Hadaatha defied both her inexperience and a lengthy lay-off to land the EBF At The Races John Musker Fillies' Stakes at Yarmouth.
A winner at Newmarket on her debut in April, Roger Varian's charge was last seen when finishing third to subsequent Classic-placed runner Volume in a Newbury Listed race in May.
Kept to that level on her return, Hadaatha (100-30) was slow to break but made significant strides for Paul Hanagan, staying on well in the closing stages of the 10-furlong heat to edge out Albasharah by three-quarters of a length.
Wall Of Sound was a further head back in third in a thrilling finish.
Hanagan said: "I felt for her because she was drawn one and she had to wait quite a while (in the stalls) for the others to come in. The last horse was playing up and she was in there long enough, she was wasn't very well away and I just had to sit there and suffer really.
"You have to remember she's still a baby, but her attitude is lovely. I've been riding her at home quite a lot and she has that change of gear. She's got a bit of class so I was able to ride her confidently.
"She just pricked her ears in front, so I gave her a flick and she went again."
A home-bred daughter of Sea The Stars out of Classic-placed Hathrah, Varian was satisfied to see the filly triumph for owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.
Varian said: "It was good. I was just talking with Richard (Hills, assistant racing manager) and you forget she's only run twice in her life and she hasn't run since May. I thought it was a really good performance to beat those more seasoned fillies.
"We've always thought she's quite a good filly - even last year when we didn't get a run into her. It's nice we've managed to get her back after a break and she's won a stakes race. I'm delighted for the filly and Sheikh Hamdan of course."
While Hadaatha took the Listed honours, Mick Quinn's Refuse Colette (3-1) was notching her fifth win at the seaside venue this year in the Danny Wright Memorial Fillies' Handicap.
The five-year-old scored her maiden success back in June and triumphed once again by two and three-quarter lengths in the hands of Paolo Sirigu.
Quinn told At The Races: "She was running over a mile and a mile and a quarter earlier in her career, she won here over a mile but there were no other mile races for her so we dropped her back to six.
"I've some of those old sprinters at home and she was laying up with them. We went back to six and she's smashed them up ever since.
"We've only got half a dozen horses in, Paolo has clicked with her and it just gets you going again. It puts you back on the map. There's a couple of fillies' handicaps at Newmarket and there's a Listed race I've been placed in a few times, but she does love it here."

Your Busy landed a National double by adding the Guinness Kerry National at Listowel to his Killarney National success in May.
James Nash's reserve got in at the 11th hour following the defection of Golden Wonder and he took full advantage under an inspired Katie Walsh.
A reserve has now won the Listowel feature for the second year running following White Star Line's success 12 months ago and the 25-1 chance came up well for Walsh at the last, before holding Pass The Hat by half a length under a power-packed ride.
The well-supported Shanpallas lost little in defeat finishing a creditable third under Davy Russell and the same can be said about Alderwood, who was a running-on fourth under top weight in the hands of Tony McCoy.
Walsh, the first female jockey to win the Kerry National, said: "It's just unbelievable. I was headed for a stride or two turning in but he winged the second-last and winged the last. He was pulling out for me the whole time.
"He loves it in front. He completely missed the first and it was some performance after that to do what he did in a competitive race like the Kerry National. He was just really on-song today."
Nash, who is dreaming about a trip back to Aintree for the Crabbie's Grand National, having run in the Topham last year, said: "Katie got a brilliant tune out of him. I didn't think he was quite fit enough at Killarney but it proved to be a good prep run. Thank God he got into the race as he was flying at home.
"Even though he's 11 he doesn't have that much mileage on the clock. He's still very keen and enjoys it. He probably got an easy lead and was able to stay in his comfort zone.
"We'll go home and see if we can get into the Munster National but that will depend on the horse. I'd love to go back to Liverpool for a crack at the big one."

Vintage Nouveau bounced right back to form when landing the Listed Edmund & Josie Whelan Memorial Listowel Stakes.
Dermot Weld's stoutly-bred Montjeu filly was having just her fifth career start and the Ulster Oaks heroine showed her class in holding the well-supported Galway winner Tarana by half a length.
The progressive three-year-old, who finished a close third on her previous start at Killarney, was beautifully positioned to track the early leader Drifting Mist and got first run on John Oxx's 6-4 favourite as they entered the straight.
Without looking the easiest of rides, she galloped resolutely to the line under Pat Smullen and should have more to offer.
Smullen said of the 3-1 winner: "She is an improving filly. The conditions of the race suited her receiving all the allowances.
"She showed a bit of inexperience inside the last half-furlong where she lay up on to the fence.
"She's improving and I think she can get better.
"Hopefully she will stay in training next year, and it's great for the family to get black type."
Tony McCoy made an eventful visit to the track, finishing fourth in the Kerry National on Alderwood, before falling at the last on the Aidan O'Brien-trained Shield and then making his afternoon worthwhile with a win for O'Brien and JP McManus on Egyptian Warrior.
After seeing McCoy guide the 15-8 favourite to victory in the M.S.D Animal Health Maiden Hurdle, O'Brien said: "We're delighted with that.
"He had a nice run in Navan, his first run, and his jumping improved a nice bit today so I was delighted for JP. It was great that he won. He likes a bit of nice ground and if it stays like that he will probably keep busy.
"Anthony is a great jockey, a great rider and he was delighted with Egyptian Warrior. It's a pleasure and a privilege to have him riding for us.
"A winner always makes the journey home a bit easier. It was nice for Anthony to ride him first time down here and to win on such a special day - the atmosphere here is just incredible."

Leading sire Street Cry has been euthanised at the age of 16 due to complications relating to a neurological condition. Winner of the 2002 Dubai World Cup for Godolphin, Street Cry was retired to to Jonabell Farm in Kentucky in 2003 and he produced top filly Zenyatta and Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense in his first crop. Other leading progeny included Melbourne Cup winner Shocking and the Queen's Carlton House, with Street Cry siring 15 winners at the highest level to date with three of his stallion sons also producing Group One victors. Sheikh Mohammed's bloodstock advisor John Ferguson told "Street Cry epitomised everything that Darley and Godolphin aim to achieve - he was bred by Sheikh Mohammed in Ireland, excelled at the very highest level on the racecourse in Dubai and the US, and then became the lynchpin of our stallion operations in both America and Australia. "His contribution to the breed has been significant and we have been so fortunate to have him. He will be sorely missed by everyone." Street Cry, a son of Machiavellian, had been reported to have been suffering from ongoing lameness while standing at Darley's Australian division. Saeed bin Suroor trained Street Cry for his Dubai win and he paid tribute to one of his "favourite" horses. He told "Street Cry was one of my favourite horses of all time and I was very sad to hear of his passing. "He was a brilliant horse, who was from a superb family and so easy to train. His victories in the Dubai World Cup and Stephen Foster Handicap were magnificent. "He proved himself to be one of the world's best, while his progeny have gone on to win many big races all over the globe."

THE polls make it too close to call but bookmakers say the weight of money piling in from big-hitting punters tells them Scotland will vote against independence on Thursday in a referendum that has potentially huge implications for the future of Scottish racing.
The odds on a 'yes' vote on Wednesday night drifted out to a top-priced 19-5 in the belief that the bulk of those still undecided will plump to remain in the Union.
Alex Donohue, spokesman for Ladbrokes, which estimates £40 million has been wagered on the contest, said: "The disparity between the polls and the market is down to more money being staked on 'no' and the fact a lot of the undecided voters cannot be reached by polling. We think those people are more likely to stick to the status quo."
All the biggest bets struck have been for 'no', with a London-based William Hill punter on Wednesday topping up his bet, originally struck in June, to £900,000, which would return a £193,333 profit if successful.
A 'no' vote was at 7.45pm on Wednesday a best-priced 1-4 shot with Betfred.
The stakes are considerable for Scotland's five racecourses, with fears about how the sport will be governed in an independent state amid concerns it will result in a major funding shortfall.
But Ralph Topping, former Hills chief executive, has backed a report by N-56, which calls itself an 'apolitical business organisation', that says Scottish racing could be £2.8 million a year better off with a 'yes' vote.
Topping said: "Under independence there is an enormous potential for the Scottish horseracing sector to flourish and grow. At the moment the sector is under-performing."

Adelaide, an unlucky-in-running third in the Prix Niel at Longchamp on Sunday, will be trained for a tilt at the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on October 25. ![http://e0.365dm.com/14/05/768x576/adelaide-obrien-curragh_3147658.jpg?20140525151539](http://e0.365dm.com/14/05/768x576/adelaide-obrien-curragh_3147658.jpg?20140525151539) Adelaide: Unlucky in Prix Niel Winner of the Grade One Secretariat Stakes at Arlington last month, Aidan O'Brien's son of Galileo will go into quarantine on Thursday week. The three-year-old colt was well supported for the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, losing little in defeat at the hands of impressive winner Eagle Top. Connections of Adelaide believe the firmer ground in Melbourne will be to his liking. James Bester, Australian racing manager for Coolmore, told Sky Sports Radio 1: "He probably should have won that race (Prix Niel), as impressive as the winner, Ectot, was. "There was some temptation, given that was a major Arc trial and that prior Arc favourite Treve flopped in her trial, to consider the Arc de Triomphe for him. "That said, he's a horse that relishes really fast ground. "In America, when he won his Grade One, it was really firm ground. "It's all systems go for the Cox Plate. He goes into quarantine on the 25th (September) and he comes out of quarantine in Werribee on the morning of the Cox Plate. "The firm ground that he is likely to encounter in Australia will suit him tremendously. As long as he gets through his quarantine OK, he has to have a serious chance in this race. "This horse will thrive under Australian conditions."

Dermot Weld is eyeing a crack at Newmarket's Vision.ae Challenge Stakes with either Mustajeeb or Tested. ![http://e1.365dm.com/14/06/768x576/action-full-length-mustajeeb-beats-muwaary_3160093.jpg?20140618145327](http://e1.365dm.com/14/06/768x576/action-full-length-mustajeeb-beats-muwaary_3160093.jpg?20140618145327) Mustajeeb: Won the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot Mustajeeb, who won the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, finished second in the Boomerang Mile at Leopardstown over the weekend, while Tested claimed the Group Three Fairy Bridge Stakes by an impressive four lengths on her most recent outing at Tipperary. Weld has now set his sights on the seven-furlong event, with his pair featuring among 39 entries for the Group Two on October 17. He said: "Both Mustajeeb and Tested are potential Group One performers and one or other will probably run in the Challenge Stakes. "Newmarket's stiff seven furlongs should be ideal for either horse. "Mustajeeb produced a very good run at Leopardstown on Saturday and I think that will turn out to be an excellent run as the third horse, Gordon Lord Byron, is a very good yardstick. "Mustajeeb nearly broke the course record at Royal Ascot and it was always the intention to then give him a break and bring him back for an autumn campaign. "Tested is in great form at the moment and we will definitely look at the Challenge Stakes for her." The Weld pair are part of a six-strong Irish entry along with Aidan O'Brien's Darwin, the Jim Bolger pair of Leitir Mor and Tobann, the Tracey Collins-trained Majestic Queen and Eddie Lynam's Viztoria. Last year's runner-up Amarillo heads a two-pronged German challenge with Mogadishio. The home team features no less than five last time out Group winners - Breton Rock, Here Comes When, Captain Cat, Coulsty and Kiyoshi. Three entries from France include Thawaany, runner-up in the Prix Maurice de Gheest on her latest outing. Both Thawaany and Kiyoshi are also among 24 possible runners the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at HQ on October 4.

Toocoolforschool could make a swift return to the track in the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury on Saturday. ![http://e0.365dm.com/14/08/768x576/york-racecourse-dutch-connection-toocoolforschool-york_3193251.jpg?20140820145823](http://e0.365dm.com/14/08/768x576/york-racecourse-dutch-connection-toocoolforschool-york_3193251.jpg?20140820145823) Toocoolforschool (yellow silks): Mill Reef hopeful The Karl Burke-trained juvenile finished half a length adrift of Chesham Stakes fourth Nafaqa in the Listed Flying Scotsman Stakes at Doncaster last Friday, having previously got to within a head of Dutch Connection in the Acomb at York. The progressive son of Showcasing could now step up to Group Two class, but back in trip to six furlongs, at the Berkshire circuit. Burke, who won the Mill Reef with Lord Shanakill in 2008, said: "We were over the moon with how he ran at Doncaster and we're now contemplating the Mill Reef. "He's come out of the race in good nick. He's eaten up and is well within himself. "I feel the drop back to six furlongs will suit as he's got lots of natural pace."

15:10 Thursday 18th September Racing Tips - 18/09/2014
Hanalei Bay, Trail Blaze and Imshivalla should ensure a decent test at Ayr for the mile handicap. Almuheet is of particular interest but my eyes nearly popped out when I saw fellow Middleham Park 3 year old Shot In The Sun at 16/1 (opened up 20's). That age group haven't won this of late but three filled the first 4 places a couple of years ago and only 1 ran last year. Shot In The Sun was staying on from the worst draw last time at Goodwood over 7 and looks well worth a go back at 8. His Epsom Almargo form is solid, again when staying on from the back over 7 off 1lb higher and it's worth pointing out he was sent off favourite for a decent York handicap 2 starts ago (poor run and excuses thin on the ground but he came down the centre of the track in the straight and the race developed far side). This is a drop in class and the yard have a good record in the race. I'm tempted by Fire Fighting later on the card but not quite tempted enough at 9/2. Ayr 15.10 - Shot In The Sun 1pt e/w
