A trip to Dubai is under consideration for Ansgar following his all-the-way victory in Saturday's Park Stakes at Doncaster. ![http://e2.365dm.com/14/09/768x576/ansgar-beats-aljamaheer_3203595.jpg?20140913154545](http://e2.365dm.com/14/09/768x576/ansgar-beats-aljamaheer_3203595.jpg?20140913154545) Ansgar (right): Doncaster winner Sabrina Harty's stable star has enjoyed a fantastic campaign, winning the Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh and the Supreme Stakes at Goodwood before striking at Group Two level for the first time on Town Moor. With a sound surface essential for her charge, Harty insists all future plans will be dictated by the weather, making a potential trip to Dubai an obvious option. Harty said: "It's great we've been able to find a couple of good seven-furlong races for him as that's his trip and James (Doyle) said if the ground had been a bit tighter he would have won very easy yesterday. "He's such a massive horse, he's had problems with growing pains and things like that and luckily he's had very patient owners. It's all coming together now. "The ground was as loose as he'd want it yesterday, so we'll have to see what the weather is doing before we make any plans. Profiles Ansgar "We'd love to go for something like the Prix de la Foret, but it's probably doubtful you'd get the ground in Longchamp. "We don't mind going a mile if the ground is right, so all options will be considered. "Going to Dubai might be an option." It was an excellent couple of days at Doncaster for the County Kildare handler, with 80-1 shot Kalann running a fantastic race in defeat to finish third in Friday's Doncaster Cup. "He ran a cracker and he's a horse who would prefer much faster ground. He literally wants it like a road," said Harty. "He's had a few issues and a few little excuses, but he's an Aga Khan-bred horse and when he's right he's got a lot of class. "He absolutely loves travelling - you could go to the moon and back with him and I'm sure he'd love it. "We'll see what options there are for him, but the ground is very important."

David O'Meara's Curragh winner Watchable heads a strong team for the North Yorkshire trainer in the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup at the confirmation stage for the Ayr showpiece. ![http://e0.365dm.com/14/07/768x576/watchable-heavy-metal-heavens-guest_3178553.jpg?20140726154040](http://e0.365dm.com/14/07/768x576/watchable-heavy-metal-heavens-guest_3178553.jpg?20140726154040) Watchable (left): Ayr Gold Cup hopeful The four-year-old bagged a big handicap on Irish Champions Weekend and O'Meara can also call on the likes of Louis The Pious, Out Do and Highland Acclaim. As expected Muthmir has been taken out by William Haggas, who has his sights set on a Listed race at Ascot on October 4. At the head of the weights is Jim Goldie's Jack Dexter, as the long wait for a Scottish-trained winner goes on. All the other leading ante-post fancies such as the Richard Fahey trio of Eastern Impact, Alben Star and Rene Mathis, Richard Hannon's Ninjago and Ger Lyons' Burn The Boats have stood their ground. Mass Rally, Blaine, former winner Captain Ramius and Barnet Fair are others still engaged. Those who fail to make the cut for the big race have the option of running in the Silver and Bronze Cups.

After some cracking racing last weekend, the market for the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday 5th October has really taken shape. A very average performance from Treve means the filly is now a best priced 10/1, having been as short as 3/1 on Sunday morning. Taghrooda now heads the field, with 6/1 still available with a number of bookies.

JOCKEY Pat Cosgrave has been placed on the forfeit list in the UAE over his failure to pay the costs for the appeal hearing at which he had a six month Dubai riding ban reduced to four months.
Cosgrave has resisted a demand for nearly £35,000 towards the costs of the appeal, imposed by the Emirates Racing Authority despite his partial success in having the sentence cut. He has not served any suspension in the UK after the BHA agreed not to reciprocate the ban.
Placing on the forfeit by another jurisdiction that is a signatory to the articles of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities should result in automatic disqualification for Cosgrave but the jockey has now submitted another application for the suspension not to be reciprocated in Britain.
The BHA said: "BHA has been notified by representatives of Pat Cosgrave that the jockey has been placed on the forfeit list of the Emirates Racing Authority.
"Under BHA's Rules of Racing such a development would result in the individual being treated as a disqualified person in this country. However, Cosgrave has exercised his right to make an application that the penalty not be reciprocated and he has been granted a stay with regard to the enforcement of the disqualification until close of play Monday 22 September, by which time he should have provided BHA with the grounds on which his application would be heard."
The case stems from a race in Dubai in March when the Group 1-winning jockey was found him guilty of improper riding in the Jebel Hatta in which he is adjudged to have shifted his mount Anaerobio to allow stablemate Vercingetorix a clear run to victory.

Sea The Moon, who was ruled out of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe through injury, has been retired.
Niko Lafrentz of owners Gestut Gorlsdorf told the German website GaloppOnline that the impressive German Derby winner will not run again and will be retired to an as-yet undecided stud.
The son of Sea The Stars won four of his five career outings for trainer Markus Klug, with his only defeat coming in the Grosser Preis Von Baden earlier this month.
It later transpired Sea The Moon had suffered a recurrence of the injury he picked up when winning the German Classic by 11 lengths back in July, but connections had hoped he would be able to race on next year.

Kevin Ryan has warned The Grey Gatsby is not a certain runner in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 18.
The Mastercraftsman colt caused one of the shocks of the season when beating dual Derby winner Australia in the Irish Champion Stakes.
The Grey Gatsby has also claimed the Dante and the French Derby this season, but soft ground could yet rule him out of Champions Day.
"He's come back absolutely fantastic, very fresh and well," said Ryan.
"He only lost six kilos all weekend which is quite incredible when you think about it, the race obviously took very little out of him.
"I've decided from now on I'm going to let the horse do the talking, he doesn't need me to talk him up any more.
"He's Ryan's (Moore) ride if he wants him but Richard Hughes and Jamie Spencer have also ridden him so it will be one of those three and they aren't bad to pick from.
"It's not a given that he runs at Ascot, the ground could have gone soft by then.
"He's getting better with every race and I'd love to go to Ascot, but it's all about next year with him.
"I'm convinced he'll get a mile and a half next year, the French Derby is nearly 11 furlongs anyway.
"If he doesn't run at Ascot, that will be it and he'll start off next year in the Dubai Duty Free."

Captain Ramius, winner of the 2012 William Hill Ayr Gold Cup, will be retired regardless of whether he runs in this year's renewal on Saturday.
Kevin Ryan's classy eight-year-old needs rain in order to turn up this weekend, but with none forecast the likelihood is that he has run his last race.
He is one of a handful of possibles for Ryan, who has won the race three times since 2007.
"Hamza will definitely run and Pat Smullen rides," said Ryan.
"Blaine will run and Amy (Ryan) will keep the ride on him - he's on the up.
"York Glory is a possible. He ran poorly at Doncaster last week when I thought I had him back to something like his best but nothing has come to light.
"Declan McDonogh will ride him if Captain Ramius doesn't run, which is doubtful now because of the ground and that's a shame as it was going to be his swansong.
"He's been a very good horse and if there's a downpour he could still run, but the main thing is that he retires sound."
David O'Meara remains undecided over whether to let last weekend's Curragh winner Watchable make a quick reappearance.
The four-year-old won the "Bold Lad" Sprint Handicap by a head on what was just his seventh career start, with the victory propelling him to the head of the market for the Scottish feature.
"I haven't decided whether Watchable runs yet," O'Meara said.
"He's come back from Ireland fine, and he seems well in himself.
"He's only really had this season as a racehorse, though, and he's already done quite a bit.
"He's going to be a very good horse.
"We'll decide nearer the time."
The sponsor reports healthy support for last year's winner Highland Colori who is now 16-1 from 20s, while Telmeyd for trainer William Haggas and Jim Goldie's stalwart Hawkeyethenoo have also been nibbled at by punters.
"Patriotic punters are backing Hawkeyethenoo, while there's plenty of interest at this early stage for last year's winner Highland Colori," said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Sky Lantern pleased connections in a workout on Tuesday morning as she builds up to her defence of the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on October 4. Connections of the four-year-old, who is trained by Richard Hannon, believe the filly is now on the way back to her best after failing to sparkle in her two starts this season following a fruitless trip to the Far East where she was last in the Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin. "It has been a long road back, but Sky Lantern suffered a bad bout of travel sickness when she went to Hong Kong last December, and we have just had to be patient," the Marlborough trainer told www.richardhannonracing.co.uk. "We knew that she would not be straight enough first time back at Royal Ascot and then the ground came up soft at Newmarket, so the cards have not really fallen her way this summer. "However, she worked super last weekend and again this morning, so now we are setting our stall out to return in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket, with the QEII at Ascot and the Breeders' Cup also on the table if we continue to get positive vibes." Hannon also revealed that Ivawood, ante-post favourite for the Qipco 2000 Guineas, would not be taking up his entry in the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Trophy at Newmarket on Saturday. "The Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on October 17 remains Plan A, and if Ivawood did run anywhere before it would be in the £500,000 Tattersalls Million over seven furlongs two weeks earlier," he said.

Tim Pitt is favouring heading straight for the Prix de l'Abbaye with Sir Maximilian, rather than running in the Dubai International Airport World Trophy at Newbury on Saturday.
Pitt's stable star ran another good race in Ireland on Sunday when he chased home Stepper Point in the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh.
While he has been entered for the Group Three this weekend, Pitt feels Sir Maximilian may have more chance in France if he heads there without another run.
"I couldn't say he will or he won't (run at Newbury) at this stage, but the best thing about the Abbaye is that it will give him a three-week break," said the Shropshire-based handler.
"I'm not saying he'd come up short in the Abbaye - he ran another very good race on Sunday - but he'd have to step up again to get involved in the Abbaye.
"One thing is for sure, he can't win it stood in his box and I think he deserves his place.
"On softer ground, which it's likely to be, they might just come back to him.
"He'll be 20-1, probably, but there has been the odd shock in the race.
"He's creeping up the ratings and I think that was another career-best at the weekend.
"He's the type who'll be better off in Pattern company than in handicaps with top weight.
"He's won almost £100,000 from three trips to Ireland this season and has had a very fruitful campaign."

Sheikhzayedroad and Trade Storm are unlikely to rest on their laurels after giving trainer David Simcock an amazing Grade One double in Canada on Sunday. The Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot or the Pattison Canadian International back at Woodbine could be on the agenda for Sheikhzayedroad following his victory in the Northern Dancer Stakes. Trade Storm, on the other hand, could go to America for the Breeders' Cup or to Australia after he tasted glory in the Woodbine Mile. "They are two good old boys aren't they?" the Newmarket handler told www.davidsimcock.co.uk. "Trade Storm has been frustrating but even when he gets beaten, he is one of those horses you don't get disappointed with - he is just a lovely horse to be around. "Sunday was his kind of race. He got a good pace and beat a useful horse in Kaigun. Sheikh Fahad will decide whether Trade Storm goes to America (Breeders' Cup Mile) or Australia for his next run - he is entered in the Cox Plate. "Sheikhzayedroad will either go to Ascot (Champion Stakes) - but only if it came up very soft - or probably back to Canada for the International."

Twilight Son was backed as if defeat was out of the question in the thirskracecourse.net Nursery Handicap and while his backers will have been panicking at one stage, the odds-on favourite eventually won in the style of a smart horse.
He is certainly in the right hands as trainer Henry Candy will ensure the Kyllachy colt will be placed to best effect and as a half-brother to the high -class Music Master, he has the pedigree to make it to the top.
Winner of a Salisbury maiden on his debut, he was given an initial mark of 77 by the handicapper and it will be interesting to see how the assessor reacts to this success as the winning distance was only half a length.
However, that does not tell even half the story as he was very slowly away, ran into the back of one of his rivals and was stuck with nowhere to go. When the gap on the rail did eventually appear, he shot through it and the 4-7 favourite beat Eastern Racer without coming under any undue pressure.
Winning jockey Fergus Sweeney said: "He did it well in the end. He was green early and you need to remember that he has only had one run, all the rest had had a few more.
"His inexperience showed at the start and that's obviously an important part of the race. He made the ground up easily and is a class act. I wasn't confident the gap would appear but it came in time. He stays and is obviously well bred."
Candy said from Chepstow that it was likely Twilight Son would not run again this season.
Kevin Ryan's Comino (8-1) maintained his 100% record at his local track in the Constant Security Services Handicap.
A winner at the venue on his debut last year, he appeared to lose his way before bouncing back to win here last month over seven furlongs and followed up over the same course and distance under Tom Eaves.
Nameitwhatyoulike stumbled on the bend and without that may have finished closer than half a length adrift.
"He's just come back to himself, he had some little problems early in the year. He got a lovely position and Tom felt he was always going to win," said Ryan.
"He's better with cut in the ground so this should be his time of year. He might have another one or two runs this season but he'll be even better next year."
Hostile Fire (9-2) has paid his way for Ed De Giles this season and may not be finished yet after winning for the fourth time this season in the Follow Us @thirskraces Handicap. James Doyle brought him down the centre of the track to beat Emef Diamond by three-quarters of a length.
"We came here because I was looking for a bit easier ground. He got no run at Haydock last time and otherwise I think he might have nearly won. I've got two horses for a 10-furlong £50,000 handicap at Chester on Saturday week and if it's soft he'll run," said De Giles.
Doyle had earlier won on Sir Michael Stoute's Eye Contact (5-4 favourite) in the David Boowie Jordan Thirsk Competition Winner Maiden Stakes in the colours of his boss Khalid Abdullah.
Paul Hanagan was also successful in the Hamdan Al Maktoum silks that he has worn to great success this year, winning on Richard Hannon's Karraar (11-8 favourite) in the Thirsk Racecourse For Wedding Receptions Maiden Stakes.

Pat Cosgrave has hit out at the Emirates Racing Authority after he was placed on its forfeit list over his failure to pay costs relating to a ban. The ERA has been trying to recover £35,000 in costs after the jockey had a six-month suspension reduced to four months on appeal. The ban dated back to earlier in the year when Cosgrave was found guilty of improper riding in the Group One Jebel Hatta at Meydan in March. He was successful in a subsequent appeal to the British Horseracing Authority not to reciprocate the suspension, with the Professional Jockeys Association critical of the ERA's decision to try to recover costs from the rider. The PJA wrote to the ERA requesting the withdrawal of the claim but the matter has not been resolved, prompting Cosgrave to be added to the forfeit list, which usually results in the person being disqualified from racing. Cosgrave has applied to have the rule disregarded, with a BHA hearing set for September 22. "That sort of money is a lot to pay to go back to work, no matter who you are," Cosgrave told www.racinguk.com. "Me, Ryan Moore, Frankie Dettori, it doesn't matter. To have to pay that sort of money to just appeal is madness. "They reduced my ban by a third, and then expect me to pay for my expenses? If anything they should be paying for mine. "I don't really know what I am going to do. I can't afford to pay it at the moment. I don't think they will back down." The PJA is backing Cosgrave's case and formalising the necessary submissions ahead of the hearing. "We informed the BHA on Friday that the ERA had placed Pat on the forfeit list," said PJA chief executive Paul Struthers. "We had already made a provisional application to the BHA for the relevant rule not to apply and formalised that on Friday. "We will pull together the formal submissions, hopefully this week, and whilst there is an awful lot we want to say on it, pending Pat's hearing we want to exercise some discretion in what we say. "That said, we did invite the ERA to withdraw the costs, unfortunately without success. They haven't responded to any of our concerns. "Whilst we will say more after the hearing, I think any jockey from Britain or anywhere else in the world who is planning on riding in Dubai this winter should pay very close attention to what happens, not just in relation to Pat but also in relation to Silvestre de Sousa because the ERA is now threatening him with a forfeit. "Silvestre appealed a careless riding suspension, I think it was not the suspension as such, but the penalty. He lost that appeal and lost his deposit yet the costs for a careless riding appeal are just shy of £20,000 that they awarded against him. "I understand the law of Dubai, but jockeys should be very concerned about going to ride in Dubai this winter." The BHA confirmed Cosgrave has to submit grounds for his application to have the rule disregarded by the date of the appeal. A BHA statement said: "The BHA has been notified by representatives of Pat Cosgrave that the jockey has been placed on the forfeit list of the Emirates Racing Authority. Under BHA's rules of racing such a development would result in the individual being treated as a disqualified person in this country. "However, Cosgrave has exercised his right to make an application that the rule should not be applied in this case, and he has been granted a stay with regard to the enforcement of the rule until the end of Monday, September 22. By this time he will need to have provided BHA with the grounds on which his application would be heard."

Colourful trainer Oliver Brady died peacefully in his sleep aged 75 on Monday evening following a long battle with cancer, confirmed Horse Racing Ireland.
The County Monaghan trainer was well known for his celebrations in the winner's enclosure, when he would usually make a rousing speech and lead an impromptu sing-song.
He was first diagnosed with cancer in 1995 and underwent several operations since then.
Brady was given just six months to live in 2003 after a cyst the size of a golf ball was found in his stomach. In 2008 he had a quadruple bypass operation to unclog arteries that were up to 97 per cent blocked. He was also a diabetic and has problems with his lungs.
Yet despite all of his health problems, Brady tirelessly devoted his life to his horses and to raising money for the Shabra Charity Foundation which he established with his business partner, Rita Shah.
Brady's first winner was Barr's Hill at Navan in 1985. Among his best horses were Maralan, who won two Grade Two chases within the space of a week in February 2008, and Ebadiyan, successful in the Grade Three Punchestown Juvenile Hurdle in January 2009.
Both horses were ridden by John Cullen, who described Brady as a "great man".
He said: "I've only just been told and it's very sad. He was a great man and a great trainer of a horse. I can't really think straight, to be honest. No one has a bad word to say about him.
"He did lots of work for charity and even when he was very sick the charity was the first thing on his mind."
Brian Kavanagh, chief executive officer for HRI, said Brady added colour and joy whenever he was present on a racecourse.
He said: "I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Oliver. He was one our most colourful trainers and a favourite with all racegoers.
"He lit up many a race meeting and it was always a spectacle to see racegoers running from the stands to greet an Oliver Brady-trained winner. It was always a pleasure to meet Oliver and we will all miss him.
"He was a very able trainer and enjoyed many big wins with the likes of Barr's Hill, Gazalani and Balapour.
"We must not forget the tremendous charity work he did with the Shabra Heart and Cancer Foundation which he founded with Rita Shah."
In his role as a presenter for At The Races, Matt Chapman developed a close friendship with Brady, whom he described as "one of a kind".
"We first came across each other because of a horse he trained called Pablo. He'd won the Lincoln for Barry Hills and I told him there was no chance he would stay two miles over hurdles," said Chapman.
"It wasn't a side bet, more of a challenge, as Oliver was convinced he could get him to win a race. Of course he didn't, but that was more to do with the fact Pablo had several problems.
"When Pablo retired, Oliver invited me to his yard to school Pablo over a couple of hurdles but it was probably the other way round, it was a great example of how not to ride a horse.
"It started out as a hate-love relationship, and we had a real battle, but mutually we began to get along, so much so I ended up telling him that he needed to come back on the show and start taking the mickey out of me again as that was what the viewers wanted and was more fun.
"He took his training incredibly seriously but, at the same time, he was a showman. He genuinely wanted punters to win, which was why he was always telling them which of his horses he thought would win.
"The one thing he wanted more than anything was a Cheltenham winner and he came close several times. But the one which really hurt his was when Ebadiyan was still in front in the Triumph Hurdle and he ran out on the final bend.
"When Baron De Feypo was third in the Coral Cup (2007) more people went to him than the winner and they had to usher him out of the ring he was loving it so much.
"He was an absolute giver. His charity work in Africa and his Cheltenham preview nights, in which he sometimes had 30 panellists, were legendary. Even Dermot Weld would turn up.
"People should be aware that he should have died a long time ago, and I mean that in the nicest possible sense. He's been very ill. Irish racing will never see the likes of Oliver Brady again, he truly was one of a kind."

Goodwood has abandoned the remaining six-furlong races at the course in 2014 to allow for essential remedial work on the track.
There are three remaining events over the distance, the first of which comes next Wednesday (September 24) with that contest being replaced by a contest over seven furlongs.
The new race will close, in line with the existing races, at noon on Thursday, September 18. Declarations are to be made by 10am on Monday, September 22.

Royal stayer Estimate will not run in the Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington, said John Warren, bloodstock and racing advisor to the Queen. ![http://e0.365dm.com/14/09/768x576/racing-doncaster-estimate-ridden-by-ryan-moore_3203155.jpg?20140912152937](http://e0.365dm.com/14/09/768x576/racing-doncaster-estimate-ridden-by-ryan-moore_3203155.jpg?20140912152937) Estimate: Won't go to Australia Connections of the Sir Michael Stoute-trained mare will resist the urge to send the five-year-old to Australia for the coveted prize on November 4, instead opting to stay closer to home after she impressively returned to winning ways in the Doncaster Cup on Friday. Estimate will now have one more outing, at either Ascot or at Longchamp, before she is retired to embark upon a career as a broodmare. Warren said in a statement: "After much consideration and in the best interest of the filly, it has been decided that Estimate will not be heading to the Melbourne Cup. "Her final target will be either the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot or the Qatar Prix du Cadran at Longchamp, after which she will be retired to The Royal Studs." Last season's Gold Cup heroine may have run heroically to finish second in defence of her crown at Royal Ascot in June, but just a month a later she returned a positive test for morphine. Estimate was one of a cluster of horses to have become embroiled in the case, with the source of the drug identified as a contaminated batch of horse feed. Even so, she is still likely to be disqualified from this season's Gold Cup at a British Horseracing Authority hearing on September 25.

David O'Meara remains undecided over whether to let last weekend's Curragh winner Watchable make a quick reappearance in Saturday's William Hill Ayr Gold Cup. ![http://e2.365dm.com/14/06/768x576/david-o-meara_3165791.jpg?20140630132757](http://e2.365dm.com/14/06/768x576/david-o-meara_3165791.jpg?20140630132757) David O'Meara: Late call on Watchable. The four-year-old won the 'Bold Lad' Sprint Handicap by a head on what was just his seventh career start, with the victory propelling him to the head of the market for the Scottish feature. However, O'Meara has yet to commit to the handicap showpiece with the fact Watchable is still relatively inexperienced uppermost in his mind. "I haven't decided whether Watchable runs yet," he said. "He's come back from Ireland fine, and he seems well in himself. "He's only really had this season as a racehorse though and he's already done quite a bit. He's going to be a very good horse. We'll decide nearer the time." Watchable remains 10/1 favourite with Sky Bet for Ayr Gold Cup, but the money has been for three-year-old Telmeyd, an unlucky loser on his last start when left in the stalls under Steffi Hofer in the Shergar Cup. Available at 33/1 after Monday's declaration stage, he was cut again from 20/1 to 16/1 by Sky Bet on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Captain Ramius, winner of the race in 2012, will be retired regardless of whether he runs in this year's renewal on Saturday. Kevin Ryan's classy eight-year-old needs rain in order to turn up this weekend, but with none forecast the likelihood is he has now run his last race.

Kevin Ryan has warned again that The Grey Gatsby will miss Ascot's QIPCO Champion Stakes and a possible re-match with Australia if going conditions are soft. ![http://e0.365dm.com/14/09/768x576/racing-leopardstown-kevin-ryan-the-grey-gatsby_3203860.jpg?20140913194524](http://e0.365dm.com/14/09/768x576/racing-leopardstown-kevin-ryan-the-grey-gatsby_3203860.jpg?20140913194524) The Grey Gatsby and trainer Kevin Ryan after Saturday's success. The trainer of Saturday's Irish Champion Stakes hero reported his progressive colt to have returned to Yorkshire in great condition despite Saturday's exciting contest. But although organisers of Ascot's Champions Day programme would love nothing more than a decider between the two Derby winners, with the score being one-one this season, Ryan will wait until next season if he deems the ground to be unsuitable. "We'd love to run him at Ascot, but if the going was soft he wouldn't run. We'd put him away and prepare him for Dubai," the trainer told Racing UK. "He's kept improving all year. When he was second in the Juddmonte it was actually a better performance than when he won at France. He's got a great consitution. He eats, he sleeps, he's a fantastic horse to train and we're so lucky to have him." Ryan said he felt the horse had benefited both from the decent test of stamina he was handed in Saturday's contest and from a canny ride from jockey Ryan Moore, although he also defended the runner-up's rider Ryan Moore. "I thought Joseph got a lot of unfair criticism. He did go wide around the bend, but Ryan had to swing a bit wide himself," said the trainer. "At the end of the day we got the result we wanted. It's a horse race. Australia got beaten but he's still a great racehorse. "It's all down to the ground. We knew on the Monday that the forecast was for no rain and that it would probably be good to firm ground. "I thought it played to his strengths because you have to stay a mile and a quarter well at Leopardstown. I think we'd have to step him up to a mile and a half next season. I think this time next year we'll be looking at the Arc." Ryan added that The Grey Gatsby had returned home "very fresh and well", despite his exertions. "He only lost six kilos all weekend which is quite incredible when you think about it, the race obviously took very little out of him," he said. "He's Ryan's (Moore) ride if he wants him but Richard Hughes and Jamie Spencer have also ridden him so it will be one of those three and they aren't bad to pick from."
