THE BHA on Wednesday brought corruption charges against Scottish Grand National-winning jockey Richie McGrath, former trainer Kate Walton and five others.
Table of races in question
The period in question runs from October 1, 2009, to July 18, 2012, with 57 races potentially involved in the investigation.
If found guilty of breaching rule (A)41.2 'Involvement in corrupt or fraudulent practices in relation to racing' a ban from the sport of up to ten years could be issued, with an entry point of three years.
McGrath and Walton also face a charge of providing a bettor with an unfair advantage in the betting market, which could include the information that McGrath was prepared to prevent a horse from running on its merits.
Licensed individuals Mark Aspey, Carl Flint, Kristian Robson, David Stevens and David Greenwood face charges of breaching rule (E)92.2 by placing lay bets on Rumble Of Thunder when they knew they were prohibited from doing so. Walton faces a charge of encouraging them to do so.
McGrath, who won the Scottish Grand National on Ryalux in 2003 and is on the board of the PJA, has not ridden in public since March, while Walton last had runners in December 2012. Rumble Of Thunder - Newcastle - 19/3/11
Speaking on behalf of McGrath, his solicitor Andrew Chalk, said: "Richie is shocked and bitterly disappointed to be facing charges, but vigorously maintains his innocence and intends to fight to clear his name, however financially straining that may be.
"However, this case yet again highlights the vast imbalance in resources between the prosecuting authority and those who have to defend themselves, often with their livelihood at stake. A fair hearing demands a level playing field, but these cases are rarely played out on such a surface.
"Additionally, Richie has informed the Professional Jockeys Association that, whilst he fights to clear his name, he will temporarily stand down as a board member of the PJA."
Paul Struthers, chief executive of the PJA, said: "We respect Richie's decision to temporarily stand down from being on our board. In the meantime, it is the PJA's role to support Richie where we are able and we will offer every assistance we can to him."
The panel for the hearing will be Tim Charlton QC (chair), Hopper Cavendish and Celina Carter. The BHA have set aside seven working days for the hearing.

Ante-post favourite Watchable will race from the far side having been handed stall five in the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday.
David O'Meara's four-year-old, who burst into the reckoning for the big sprint handicap with victory at the Curragh last Sunday, was one of the later ones to be picked out of the hat at a special draw ceremony at the Scottish track.
The Richard Fahey-trained Alben Star, generally second best in the market, will start from stall seven after being the penultimate name to be drawn.
O'Meara's Highland Aclaim was the first horse out and given stall 18, with the stands side of the track proving popular.
The Fahey team went for stalls 20 and 22 respectively for Ballesteros and Supplicant, who were the next horses out.
Scottish trainer Jim Goldie plumped for stall four for last year's third and top-weight Jack Dexter, and 16 for Hawkeyethenoo.
Ger Lyons' representative chose stall three for Burn The Boats, while the other Irish challenger An Saighdiur will be on the other side of the course in stall 23. Racy, trained by Brian Ellison, bagged the stands side rail draw in the maximum 27-runner field.
Kevin Ryan is four-handed as he seeks to win the race for a fourth time. Captain Ramius, successful for the Hambleton trainer in 2012 when drawn eight, has got the same stall again. Hamza is also low in stall six, with York Glory and Blaine drawn high in gates 21 and 26 respectively.
Ryan told Racing UK: "We opted to go high if we were coming out early and lucky enough we had a couple of horses that came out fairly early.
"Blaine's in great form and is on an upward curve. He comes into the race on the back of a very good win. He'll love the fast ground. I thought York Glory would run very well in the Portland and then he disappointed us. He's struggling to find his form, but if he did come back to himself he'd be dangerously well handicapped.
"Amy (Ryan, daughter), rides Blaine. She gets on great with him. She's won two good races on him this year so there's no reason why she shouldn't ride him. We opted to go high with two and we've got two drawn low, so we've covered both sides of the track."

Phillip Makin made an excellent start to the three-day Western Meeting at Ayr with a double on Moonlightnavigator and Get Knotted.
He produced Moonlightnavigator (13-8 favourite) to lead inside the final furlong and take the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes by a length and a half from Swift Approval.
"I thought a couple of furlongs out we might be in trouble, but he stays quite well and the step back up to a mile was always going to suit him and he's done it quite nicely," said trainer John Quinn's son and assistant, Sean.
"We might run him once more or we might put him away. I think he might make a nice three-year-old."
Get Knotted (2-1) got the better of Fullon Clarets in the closing stages to lift the SM Signs Maiden Auction Stakes by a neck.
"He's a bit raw and I think the race will have done him done a lot of good. We may give him one run over seven, but I'm not fussed. He's a nice horse for next year," said trainer Michael Dods.
The Quinn stable completed a double when Evanescent (5-1) took division two of the Quality And Value At the Irish Yearling Sales Handicap, a race he also won in 2013. Division one was won by the Tim Easterby-trained Bachotheque (11-1), ridden by David Allan.
Trainer Paul Midgley gave jockey Graham Lee all the credit after Orient Class had ploughed a lone furrow down the stands side rail to run out a ready winner of the Wallace McDowall Handicap.
While the rest of the field came down the centre of the course, Orient Class (8-1) stuck to the near side from his stall 18 draw.
Lee's move proved decisive as he made just about all the running in the five-furlong heat to score by two and a quarter lengths from Sewn Up, with Adrian Keatley's Irish raider Autumn Tide third.
"It was Graham's idea. The only thing I said to him was not to be worried about others, just ride your own race," Midgley told Racing UK.
"I wasn't bothered (by the draw) as this horse is better with a rail anyway. He's a very laid-back horse and will do what you ask him. The ground was quick enough for him today. He's in at Redcar on Wednesday."
The Mark Johnston-trained Fire Fighting (9-2 joint-favourite) stormed to victory in the feature William Hill Handicap, defying a 6lb penalty for winning at Bath five days earlier. The three-year-old came with a powerful dash to claim Maven over a furlong out and score by a length and a quarter.
"A great performance. He has come good now we've found the key to him. Not just putting the headgear on but also sitting him in behind and coming with a late run. He's also bred to improve with age and time and that's exactly what he's doing," said Johnston.
Winning rider Joe Fanning made it a 70-1 double when delivering the Keith Dalgleish-trained Harrison's Cave (12-1) to collar Choisan close home in the Grants Fruit Merchants Prestwick Handicap.
David O'Meara's Anderiego (11-2) came with a rattling run on the outside under Danny Tudhope to take the Hillside Quarry Supporting The Ayrshire Hospice Handicap by a length and a quarter from Coincidentally.

Frankie Dettori has given Ruler Of The World a ringing endorsement as the dust settles on his all-the-way success in the Prix Foy at Longchamp last weekend.
Winner of last year's Investec Derby, the Aidan O'Brien-trained colt was having his first start since finishing down the field in the Dubai World Cup in March, and in doing so put his ca se for another crack at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
He was seventh in the all-aged middle-distance championship in 2013, and is a best-priced 16-1 to score back at the Paris track on October 5.
Dettori, who was riding the son of Galileo for the first time, told At The Races: "I was very impressed. He's a very, very good horse.
"The time was great, he did it all on his own - he had to do it the hard way and it never looked in doubt.
"He'd also had a long lay-off and I'm sure that Aidan will improve him a little bit more and he is the Derby winner.
"Aidan told me he stays well and I didn't want it to turn into a sprint, I had to make the first move to make sure I took the sting out of the field and it worked."

Leading National Hunt jockey Jason Maguire returns to the saddle after six months out injured at Newton Abbot on Friday.
Maguire, attached to the Donald McCain stable in Cheshire, was seriously hurt on the eve of the Cheltenham Festival at Stratford when a horse kicked him in the stomach.
He was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry, where X-rays revealed he suffered a fractured sternum and bleeding on his liver, and he underwent an operation to have part of it removed.
He was later moved to Gloucester Hospital to be closer to his family before being allowed to complete his recovery at home.
His first ride back will be on McCain's Mr Satco in the Channon And Co Chartered Accountants Novices' Chase.
"I'm obviously thrilled to be back," said Maguire.
"It's a novice chase but once you're back, there's no point picking and choosing.
"It's been a long time watching on the sidelines and I'm really looking forward to it.
"When you are out that length of time it makes you appreciate what you have, riding for a powerful stable.
"I was aiming to be back at the end of the month, but I got passed (by the doctor) earlier this week, so that was grand. I can't wait."

Rae Guest is hoping a reproduction of Jane's Memory's French form will be enough to see her win the EBF Stallions Harry Rosebery Stakes at Ayr on Friday.
The Captain Rio filly won on her debut at Leicester, was narrowly touched off in a Listed race at Chantilly and returned to France to finish second to Goken in a Group Three.
Goken has since franked the form by finishing fourth behind The Wow Signal in the Prix Morny and Guest expects Jane's Memory to run well in the 15-runner Listed race.
"She had her two runs in France and we've just given her time," he said.
"Her form with Goken reads quite well, so I'd be hoping she runs another good race.
"I'm not worried about the ground for her, it was pretty decent the first time she went to France so we won't be blaming that.
"She's in the Cheveley Park, but I wouldn't have thought she'd be going there.
"There's the Cornwallis for her but we'll just see how we get on here first."
Qatar Racing are doubly represented with Mind Of Madness, a winner at this level at York, and Cool Strutter, trained by Richard Hannon who told his website: "He had three of these just in front of him in the Roses Stakes at York, and on that form he should again be thereabouts."
Others of note include the William Haggas-trained Squats, winner of three of his last four, Bryan Smart's Fendale, winner of his first two starts and seventh in the Gimcrack, and James Tate's Al Fareej.

Hugo Palmer is still considering the options for Solario Stakes winner Aktabantay.
The son of Oasis Dream gave the Newmarket-based trainer his first Group race success at Sandown last month and while Palmer has a handful of possibilities, he wants to avoid soft ground with his stable star.
He said: "He has been great since Sandown and is due to work at the end of this week. I'm looking at either the Lagardere on Arc day, the Dewhurst or the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf for him, but I don't want to run him on soft ground again."
The juvenile had to dig deep to score at the Esher track and while Palmer is keen not to detract from what was his greatest moment as a trainer, he admits he was slightly disappointed by the performance.
"We were over the moon with the result, but he didn't show us that electric turn of foot he showed at Newmarket on his debut and I can only put that down to the ground," he added.
"He was brave to win but I'm convinced he'll be a better horse on a sounder surface, so I'll have to keep one eye on the weather."
Stablemate Extremity remains on target for the Betfred Cambridgeshire on September 27 and the progressive three-year-old is as short as 14-1 in the ante-post market after winning four of his 10 starts.
Palmer said: "Newmarket is very much the plan if he gets a run.
"He's versatile in regards to ground and I'd like to think the step up in trip will bring about more improvement in him."

Bronze Angel remains on course for the Betfred Cambridgeshire on September 27 following his latest placed effort at Doncaster.
The five-year-old landed the Newmarket feature off a 6lb lower mark in 2012 and is as short as 20-1 to regain his crown this term.
While he has had a busy campaign this year, his trainer Marcus Tregoning reports Bronze Angel to be in fine form and he is planning to employ the services of 5lb claimer Louis Steward to ease his burden.
Tregoning said: "He ran very well in the handicap at Doncaster and was a little unlucky in that he probably hit the front too soon.
"He'll run in the Cambridgeshire and needs the ground to come up good or quicker.
"He's come out of Doncaster very well and we're going to stick with Louis Steward as he'll take some weight off his back."

Brian Ellison's Irish Champions Weekend scorer Baraweez could be joined by stablemate Dream Walker in the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot on Qipco British Champions Day.
Worth £250,000, the mile event revives an historic race title and is a new addition to Britain's richest raceday at Ascot on October 18.
Baraweez booked his ticket with success in the final race of Saturday's meeting at Leopardstowm, the "Sovereign Path" Handicap.
And while he is a general 25-1 chance for the Cambridgeshire on Saturday week, Ascot is his intended target.
Ellison said: "He's in great form but he won't be running in the Cambridgeshire.
"There's that big £250,000 race at Ascot in another month, that's the one for him.
"We'll probably also run Dream Walker in it as well."

Celestial Halo, who gave owner Andy Stewart his first winner at the Cheltenham Festival when landing the Triumph Hurdle in 2008, has been retired.
The 10-year-old, trained by Paul Nicholls, won a total of 10 races over jumps, including a Grade Two event at Auteuil. He also finished second in both the Champion Hurdle and the Ladbrokes World Hurdle.
He was also a smart horse on the Flat when in the care of Barry Hills, winning once, and he wasn't beaten far when seventh in the 2007 St Leger won by Lucarno.
"He's going to be retired. His last race at Cheltenham was in the World Hurdle. He came second the year before when he was understudy for Big Buck's," said Stewart.
"I said to Paul Nicholls at his open day that if he loses some of his enthusiasm then we'll call it a day.
"Having been trained by the genius Barry Hills he was quite laid-back when he arrived at Ditcheat.
"It was Barry's idea to geld him and see if he could win the Triumph Hurdle. He was good enough to do that. As usual a genius like Barry Hills was spot on.
"Then the following year as a five-year-old he took on Binocular in the Champion Hurdle and was beaten on the line by Punjabi.
"He's been a great servant and broke my duck at the Cheltenham Festival and we're going to give him a happy retirement.
"He will stay at Paul Nicholls' for three to six months and remain in a racing environment. We'll just let him down very slowly.
"That's what we did with Big Buck's. We kept him there for five months and he's now happy in his new home."
A son of Galileo, Celestial Halo was a veteran of 42 races and amassed £667,472 in prize money.

Cue Card is back in training and pleasing trainer Colin Tizzard after undergoing a breathing operation.
Tizzard opted for the surgery after thinking long and hard following his star performer's weak finish that cost him victory in the William Hill King George VI Chase on Boxing Day.
That proved to be his last race of the campaign as he sustained a stress fracture of the pelvis in February, which ruled the eight-year-old out of the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Speaking to the Western Gazette, Tizzard said: "I felt Cue Card actually had the King George won three out but coming to the second-last something happened - his head went up and I didn't think he could breathe properly because his palate was flapping and loose. Now it's been cauterized and tightened.
"It's something that has been in the back of our minds for a long time but the horse had been so brilliant we thought it disrespectful to even think about doing it.
"He had the op in August and was off for about 10 days but we're back riding him now, he's started cantering and he looks brilliant."
Cue Card is again expected to take in the Betfair Chase he won so well at Haydock in November last year, and Tizzard still harbours hopes of winning the Gold Cup.
He said: "It's everyone's dream to win a Gold Cup and that's where we were heading last season but if he were to be beaten in his first three races this season we might not be so cocky."

RAPID ADVANCE - Shane Kelly - Rule (B)67
Disciplinary Panel - Other decisions
THIRSK SECOND SEPTEMBER MEETING 2014
The Follow Us @thirskraces Handicap Stakes
After re-examining the circumstances relating to Shane Kelly, the rider of RAPID ADVANCE, failing to weigh in following the Follow Us @thirskraces Handicap Stakes at Thirsk on 16 September 2014, and the resultant decision of the Stewards to disqualify the gelding from fourth place, BHA has determined that in this instance Rule (B)67 was not correctly applied.
The Rule requires the Clerk of the Scales to report to the Stewards any rider who does not present themselves to weigh in, and for the Stewards to then decide whether under the circumstances they should disqualify the horse. In this instance, after finishing fourth, Kelly did present himself to the Clerk of the Scales, but was mistakenly advised that he was not required to weigh in.
In the light of Kelly having presented himself to weigh in, BHA exercised its powers under Rule (B)18.1.2 of the Rules of Racing and cancelled the decision of the Stewards to disqualify RAPID ADVANCE. BHA has therefore reinstated RAPID ADVANCE into fourth place.

SCOTTISH racing was on Thursday night eagerly awaiting the outcome of the independence referendum, expected early on Friday morning, with one racecourse manager saying they have "huge concerns" about a potential Yes vote.
Although the pollsters make it a close call - recent polls have given the No camp a slender four or six-point lead - the bookmakers have a markedly different view.
The odds on a Yes vote continued to drift out on Thursday with 4-1 (from 7-2) the general price on offer, while No hardened into 1-6 (from 1-5) with most firms.
However, in recent days the bookmakers have been keen to stress the disparity between the polls and the betting is down to more money being staked on No with some apparently large-staking London-based punters distorting the market.
Racing took place at Ayr - one of five racecourses in Scotland - on a day when over four million people are expected to cast their vote on whether the country should stay in the UK or become an independent nation, but racegoers were keeping their voting cards close to their chests.
Speaking at the track, Scottish-born trainer Mark Johnston said: “I was scheduled to be at Yarmouth but I thought I can’t be in Yarmouth on this day. I was expecting the place to be littered with stickers, flags and banners and there has been absolutely nothing here.”
Johnston, a Yes supporter, admitted he was amazed at some of the fears held by the Scottish racing industry, should independence win the day.
“I live in hope of a Yes vote and I can’t believe some of the scare-mongering,” he said on Racing UK. “When we get up tomorrow morning there’s absolutely no possibility of these racecourses packing up and moving somewhere else.”
However, Perth general manager Sam Morshead, who fears the racecourse could close in the event of independence, called the day “the biggest in Scottish racing for a century”.
He said: “I have huge concerns. I love Perth to bits and we want to look forward to an exciting future, but the future of the course will be put into jeopardy if the vote is for independence.
“There will be a huge shortfall in income if we do not get things sorted and there is not enough information about what will happen. Prize-money is the issue and I don’t know what will happen if we cannot compete with the courses down south.
“Maybe I am totally wrong about it all and maybe it will be okay. Maybe they will pull a rabbit out of the hat. Who knows?”

Samantha Bell, the rider of BERBICE (IRE), unplaced, reported that the gelding was denied a clear run.
Race 7 - 4:40pm THE WILLIAM HILL HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2) (for The Kilkerran Cup) Daniel Tudhope, the rider of ST MORITZ (IRE), unplaced, reported that the gelding stopped quickly having raced prominently. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Phillip Makin, the rider of WEE FRANKIE (IRE), unplaced, reported that the gelding ran too free.
Race 8 - 5:10pm THE GRANTS FRUIT MERCHANTS PRESTWICK HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, HARRISON’S CAVE, ridden by Joe Fanning and trained by Keith Dalgleish, compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 2 September 2014 where the gelding finished sixth of eight, beaten 17½ lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding settled better on this occasion having worn blinkers for the first time on its previous run. They ordered HARRISON’S CAVE to be routine tested.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by David Allan, the rider of CHOISAN (IRE), placed second, approaching the final furlong. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Allan for 2 days as follows: Thursday 2 and Friday 3 October 2014.

Bronze Angel remains on course for the Betfred Cambridgeshire on September 27 following his latest placed effort at Doncaster. ![http://e2.365dm.com/14/05/768x576/racing-newmarket-bronze-angel_3142533.jpg?20140516130346](http://e2.365dm.com/14/05/768x576/racing-newmarket-bronze-angel_3142533.jpg?20140516130346) Bronze Angel: On course for the Cambridgeshire. The five-year-old landed the Newmarket feature off a 6lb lower mark in 2012 and is as short as 20/1 to regain his crown this term.

Favourite Watchable will race from stall five in Saturday's William Hill Ayr Gold Cup after the line-up was finalised. ![http://e1.365dm.com/14/08/768x576/kevin-ryan-left_3196819.jpg?20140828172602](http://e1.365dm.com/14/08/768x576/kevin-ryan-left_3196819.jpg?20140828172602) Kevin Ryan: Has given himself a few options in the Ayr Gold Cup. David O'Meara's four-year-old, who burst into the reckoning for the big sprint handicap with victory at the Curragh on Sunday, was one of the later ones to be picked out of the hat at a special draw ceremony at the Scottish track. The Richard Fahey-trained Alben Star, generally second best in the market, will start from stall seven after being the penultimate name to be drawn. O'Meara's Highland Aclaim was the first horse out and given stall 18 with the stands' side of the track proving popular with connections of those horses first out of the hat. The Fahey team went for stalls 20 and 22 respectively for Ballesteros and Supplicant, who were the next horses out. Scottish trainer Jim Goldie plumped for stall four for last year's third and top-weight Jack Dexter, and 16 for Hawkeyethenoo. Ger Lyons' representative chose stall three for Burn The Boats while the other Irish challenger, An Saighdiur, will be on the other side of the course in stall 23. Racy, trained by Brian Ellison, bagged the stands' side rail draw in the maximum 27-runner field. Kevin Ryan is four-handed as he seeks to win the race for a fourth time. Captain Ramius, successful for the Hambleton trainer in 2012 when drawn eight, has got the same stall again. Hamza is also low in stall six with York Glory and Blaine drawn high in gates 21 and 26 respectively. Ryan explained why he chose those stalls for his runners. "We opted to go high if we were coming out early and lucky enough we had a couple of horses that came out fairly early," he told Racing UK. "Blaine's in great form and is on an upward curve. He comes into the race on the back of a very good win. He'll love the fast ground. "I thought York Glory would run very well in the Portland and then he disappointed us. He's struggling to find his form, but if he did come back to himself he'd be dangerously well handicapped. "Amy (Ryan, daughter), rides Blaine. She gets on great with him. She's won two good races on him this year so there's no reason why she shouldn't ride him. "We opted to go high with two and we've got two drawn low, so we've covered both sides of the track."

Leading National Hunt jockey Jason Maguire returns to the saddle after six months out injured at Newton Abbot on Friday. ![http://e0.365dm.com/14/02/768x576/jason-maguire_3081692.jpg?20140210172413](http://e0.365dm.com/14/02/768x576/jason-maguire_3081692.jpg?20140210172413) Jason Maguire: Itching to return Maguire, attached to the Donald McCain stable in Cheshire, was seriously hurt on the eve of the Cheltenham Festival at Stratford when a horse kicked him in the stomach. Maguire was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry, where X-rays revealed he suffered a fractured sternum and bleeding on his liver, undergoing an operation to have part of it removed.

16:20 Friday 19th September Racing Tips - 19/09/2014
Rasaman is tempting today in the Bronze Cup but, if yesterday is anything to go by, he's not drawn all that well. There is pace across the track but plenty up high and that makes Mon Brav appealing from 23. He was not beaten far in this 3 years ago off 6lb higher and will get the good pace he needs to chase here, though some luck in running will be required. He's also one of the few that have been cutting it in this sort of company of late, with that Ripon run one of the stronger bits of form on show. He's not one to put the house on but worth support at 18/1. Ayr 14.40 - Mon Brav 1pt e/w
I've had Chooseday on the radar for a while now and he has plenty going for him this afternoon. A drop to a strongly run 5 furlongs, which this should be, looks well worth a go and so do first time blinkers. The tongue-tie worked well on penultimate start but wasn't really given a chance to work last time given he stumbled leaving the stalls and was drawn the wrong side. Blinkers will hopefully sharpen him up a bit and he's extremely well treated for a yard that know how to win these sprint handicaps. The blinkers should mean he will race prominently in behind good pace from stalls 7,13, and 14 and hopefully they'll come down the centre of the track, though Spencer will at least have options from stall 10. He has run well here on both starts and his form in much better company at Ripon means he should be shorter than 14/1. Ayr 15.10 - Chooseday 1pt e/w
Jonny Delta is back to his last winning mark and his form here across both codes reads 121312. He is yet to be successful beyond 1 mile 4 on the flat but recent runs have suggested this sort of trip is what is needed and his run in the Cesarewitch when a touch unlucky and 3lb out of the handicap gives him every chance here. He'll get a good pace to chase too and he's easily pick of the prices at 9/1. Ayr 16.20 - Jonny Delta 1pt e/w

SCOTLAND's decision to reject independence by a margin of 55 per cent to 45 per cent has been welcomed by the racing industry in Britain.
A number of figures within racing in Scotland had stated their uncertainty about what would happen to the industry in the country if a Yes vote was successful with many worried that racecourses would have to close due to a funding shortfall.
"Phew," wrote Harriet Graham, a trainer and clerk of the course at Musselburgh and Perth racecourses, on Twitter. Her feelings were echoed by others in racing.
Trainer Hugo Palmer, who is based in Newmarket but born and brought up in Scotland, said: "Being Scottish born and raised, I'm incredibly proud and relieved to wake up to the news that I'm still British."
Bruce Jeffrey, agent for Ryan Mania, the Scottish-born Grand National-winning jockey, wrote on Twitter: "Looking like 28 from the 32 regions have voted for better together. That surely tells the story."
Bookmakers had predicted a No victory in the run up to the referendum with the pro-union campaign 1-6 for victory on the eve of the vote.
The result of the vote made one London punter particularly happy as they collected £1,093,333.33 from a £900,000 bet placed with William Hill on a No vote.
In the five regions where Scotland has racecourses, all voted No.
