Halford thrilled with Curragh pair Mick Halford is charting a possible path to the Palmerstown House Estate Irish St Leger with his two smart stayers Certerach and Dabadiyan. Both horses had their first runs since the Dubai Gold Cup at the end of March in the Curragh Cup at the weekend. Certerach, who won in Dubai, finished second to Ernest Hemingway with Dabadiyan fourth. "I was happy with both of them," said Halford. "Both are in the Irish Leger and at this stage it's a feasible option for the pair of them. "Before then Dabadiyan will probably go to Roscommon on Monday for the Lenebane Stakes and I think Certerach will go to Leopardstown on July 17 for the Challenge Stakes. "Jamie (Spencer) seems to suit Certerach, he likes being dropped out and ridden on a long rein." ======================================== Exciting We Are recovering well Freddy Head hopes to have We Are back at his Chantilly stables later this week after the unbeaten filly underwent a successful operation. The three-year-old secured her third win from as many starts with an impressive effort in the Group One Prix Saint-Alary at Longchamp in May and was pencilled in for a tilt at last month's Prix de Diane. However, Head was not happy with her during her preparation and she has since been treated in Newmarket for an ovarian tumour. The trainer is pleased to report his exciting filly is making a good recovery and and she is now set to be trained for an autumn campaign, with the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp in September among her targets. "She's much better. I hear the news is very good and I think I might get her back home this week," said Head. "She had an ovarian tumour. They took the ovary out, she was operated on in Newmarket. She's doing very well and she will race again. She'll come back for an autumn campaign. The Vermeille will be her aim." =================================== Breeders' Cup target for Anodin Freddy Head is planning another attack on the Breeders' Cup Mile this year as he looks to Anodin to continue his extraordinary record in the race. The Frenchman was the first to ride and train a winner at the meeting, having partnered Miesque to lift the prize in 1987 and 1988 and saddle the great Goldikova to land a hat-trick of victories from 2008 to 2010. The Chantilly trainer is now eyeing the race at Santa Anita for Anodin, who was an excellent third to Toronado in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot. "I'm very happy with him. I don't know where we are going to run next, but the horse is very well," said Head. "I don't think he'll go for the Sussex. It's 90% sure he's not going. "We'll think about the Jacques le Marois (at Deauville) or we could wait for the Moulin (at Longchamp). The goal is to go to the Breeders' Cup to run in the Breeders' Cup Mile. We'll just have to decide what we do in between." ===================================== Haydock target for recovering Byron Tom Hogan hopes Gordon Lord Byron will be fit enough to return to action in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock in September. Second and first in the last two renewals of the Merseyside Group One, the six-year-old has created a niche for himself as a true globetrotting sprinter. Only eighth in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot last month, he returned with a pulled muscle. "He tweaked a muscle, he had a very sore sacroiliac joint around his hamstring," said Hogan. "I think he did it jumping from the stalls. He was running free, which when older horses do that you know there's something wrong. "I knew after a furlong and a half he wouldn't win. "We've had all the best services out to see him, physio, vets, and he's recovering well. "Hopefully we'll have him back in September for the Haydock Sprint Cup again, that seems to be his race. "We'll consider all invitations again, this time we might go the other way around the world!" =================================== Soumillon sticks with Canarias Christophe Soumillon will maintain his association with Spanish speedster Noozhoh Canarias in the Darley July Cup next Saturday. Enrique Leon's three-year-old has not been seen since setting a scorching gallop in the 2000 Guineas when he faded to finish sixth behind Night Of Thunder. Bearing in mind that race included the subsequent Irish Guineas and English, Irish and French Derby winners the form could hardly have worked out any better and Leon has been happy with his stable star ever since. "He went home after the Guineas and had a couple of weeks off. He's been back in work and is doing very well, we are very happy with how everything is developing and we have fingers crossed for next week," he told At The Races. "He doesn't need a prep race before a big race so we're happy to take him straight to the July Cup. "Christophe will ride him again, he said at the two-furlong pole in the Guineas he thought he was sat on the best miler he'd ever ridden. A furlong later he knew he was a sprinter. "He will have one more serious gallop on the racecourse but he doesn't need much, he's in pretty good form at the moment." =================================== Charlton to decide on Bird plans Roger Charlton is weighing up several Group One options for Thistle Bird after she opened her account at the highest level at the weekend. The six-year-old mare had come close a few times to breaking her Group One duck, most notably in the Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last year, and that race is once again a possibility. The Prix Jean Romanet in France and also the Beverly D Stakes at Arlington Park in America are also in the offing. Writing on his website, www.rogercharlton.com, the Beckhampton handler said: "It was one of those truly magical weekends with Thistle Bird winning the Pretty Polly Group One at the Curragh on Sunday. "She has been so tough and consistent all her life, just improving and improving and at the age of six to have produced her best performance is very rewarding. "She was given a great ride by George Baker, who like James Doyle when he won on Al Kazeem last year, had never ridden over the (round) course before. "She was winning her sixth black type race out of a total of eight races and twenty starts. "It was marvellously game of Lady Rothschild to allow me to keep her in training as a six-year-old and we now have the option of returning to Goodwood for the fifth time to run in the Nassau Stakes Group One on August 2, the Romanet Group One (for four-year-old and up mares at Deauville) on August 24 or travel to Arlington for the Beverly D Group One on August 16. "The race is worth in total $750,000 and is over nine and half furlongs on turf for mares. The race was won last year by Dank where she beat Gifted Girl. "The Curragh has been good to me since I started training having won 11 stakes races there, including two Group Ones, a Group Two and five Group Threes." ======================================= Stoute assembles Newmarket team Sir Michael Stoute is planning to run two of his Royal Ascot winners at next week's July Festival at Newmarket. Integral, an impressive winner of the Duke of Cambridge Stakes in Berkshire, will return to Group One level in the Falmouth Stakes on July 11, while convincing Duke of Edinburgh Stakes scorer Arab Spring is set to test the water at Pattern level for the first time in the Princess of Wales's boylesports.com Stakes a day earlier. At a press morning to promote the three-day meeting, Stoute said: "We are going to run Integral in the Falmouth. She ran in the Sun Chariot last year and only got beaten a length by Sky Lantern, so she has been in that (Group One) arena before. "I was impressed with her at Ascot, so hopefully she will be in the line-up for the Falmouth - that is the next logical race for her." Arab Spring, a lightly-raced four-year-old by Monsun, has been patiently brought along in classic Stoute style. He made just one appearance as a three-year-old, filling the runner-up spot at Newmarket, and made a winning return at Kempton at the end of March. Since then, Arab Spring has won handicaps at Newbury, York and Royal Ascot and progression to a Group-class performer looks inevitable. Stoute said: "We hope to run him in the Princess of Wales's and we will see how we get on. He is entitled to go into a Stakes race now. He has been very progressive." Arab Spring could yet be joined in the Princess of Wales's Stakes by stable companion Hillstar, who is also among the entries for this Saturday's Group One Coral-Eclipse at Sandown. "Hillstar has been confirmed for the Eclipse but I don't know if we will run him there. We will try and determine what the field will be and he doesn't like the ground too quick," said Stoute. The master of Freemason Lodge expects to have a small but select team of around five for the July Festival. Abseil, eighth to Field of Dream in the Royal Hunt Cup, is on schedule for a 666Bet Bunbury Cup bid, while Idea and Bragging could both contest three-year-old handicaps. ========================================= Stoute hails 'world-class' Moore Sir Michael Stoute has claimed that there is probably no better jockey in the world at present than Ryan Moore The Stoute-Moore combination were on fire at Royal Ascot, teaming up for four triumphs. Internationally, Moore has also ridden a string of top-class winners in the last year, including Dank and Magician at the Breeders' Cup, Joshua Tree in Canada and Gentildonna in the Japan Cup. Newmarket-based Stoute points to Moore's global successes in the past 12 months as proof of just how fine a jockey he has become. Stoute said: "There probably isn't a better one around anywhere - big statement, isn't it! "He has become world-class. You have only got to look at his record. Last year in late October he won the Canadian International at Woodbine. Then he moved down to the Breeders' Cup and rode a couple of winners there. And he finished up winning the Japan Cup. "So he really is an international rider. He is a thorough professional - very dedicated. He would be an asset to anybody." ====================================== Telescope focused on King George Royal Ascot hero Telescope remains firmly on course for a tilt at the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on July 26. The Highclere Thoroughbred Racing-owned colt was hugely impressive when powering to a seven-length success in the Group Two Hardwicke Stakes last month and Stoute is planning a swift return to the Berkshire circuit for the four-year-old. The 10-time champion trainer said: "We are hoping to take him to the King George - that is the next plan for him." He added: "It wasn't a vintage Hardwicke, but it was the way he won it - I think that entitles us to have a crack at the King George. We don't know who is turning up but that that will be a big test for him. "The BHA handicapper has given him his highest rating yet (123), so that was a good performance in the Hardwicke. "We would be happy with how he has come out of Ascot. He has not been doing anything serious since - he has just been chilling. But we've got a long time now - four weeks from last Saturday." The sizzling Ascot success was Telescope's second at Group Two level and suggested he can fulfil all the expectations triggered by a maiden success at Newmarket as a juvenile. Stoute said: "He is a horse who has had a lot of criticism because he was very, very built up having just won a maiden as a two-year-old. Last year he had a setback but he has never been out of the two, this fellow." However, Stoute did give a firm hint that the son of Galileo is at his best when racing on fast ground Earlier in the season, he was well beaten on two occasions by Noble Mission in the Gordon Richards Stakes and the Huxley Stakes on more testing terrain. He said: "I ran him in heavy ground at Sandown and shouldn't have run him at Chester because his action is not the same in that sort of ground. He labours in it."

Brighton, 1 July 2014
3.00, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the reason why HANDWOVEN (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, was slowly away from the stalls. Having heard evidence from the Starter and the jockey, they noted their explanation that the gelding had put its head into the stall beside it as the gates were opened.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, PERFECT PURSUIT, ridden by Ryan Tate and trained by Clive Cox, compared with its previous run at Newbury on 12 June 2014 where the filly finished 11th of 13, beaten by 7 lengths. They noted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that the filly was better suited by the quicker going on this occasion. They ordered PERFECT PURSUIT to be routine tested.
4.30, fifth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference just inside the furlong marker. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that RED PASSIFLORA, placed second, ridden by Luke Morris, had interfered with RIGHT OF APPEAL, placed third, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa. The Stewards found Morris in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his filly to drift left without taking sufficient corrective action. They suspended him for 3 days as follows: Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 July 2014.

The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference on the run to the line.. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that FRANK THE BARBER (IRE), placed second, ridden by Russ Kennemore, had interfered with SCENT OF POWER, placed third, ridden by Noel Garbutt. Integral, an impressive winner of the Duke of Cambridge Stakes in Berkshire, will return to Group One level in the Falmouth Stakes on July 11. Intergral: Heading for the Falmouth Stakes The daughter of Dalakhani was a beaten favourite on her seasonal reappearance at Newmarket in May but will head to the July Course at the top of her game. At a press morning to promote the three-day July meeting, Stoute said: "We are going to run Integral in the Falmouth. Hero of the hour at Perth
Hero De Villeneuve carried the Champion Hurdle-winning colours of Sublimity to pick up the feature event at Perth under a patient Brian Hughes.
Like Sublimity, the gelding is trained in Ireland by Robbie Hennessy and was delivered with great timing in the RAF Leuchars Ops Squadron Handicap Chase.
Hero De Villieneuve (15-2) has been busy, as he had slotted in two victories at Bangor in North Wales last month before a couple of outings in Northern Ireland.
Hughes waited and waited, allowing Five Star Wilsham to set sail for home and had no problems with the step up to three miles as he forged seven lengths clear on the run-in.
"We've had a few winners over in England, Wales and Scotland, we'll have to think about moving over!" said Hennessy, who was working on development projects at home.
"He's a horse that had three wind operations and is a tall horse who's only just coming into himself. He's actually 10lb better off in Ireland, so that's an option, so we'll see what the British handicapper thinks. We'll keep him ticking along as he likes good ground.
"We just said to sit tight on him, but Brian's three from three on him now and knows him well."
Conditional jockey Ryan Day impressed as he rode his first ever winner under Rules. The Workington-born youngster has been taken under the wing of the experienced Brian Harding as he joined Cumbrian trainer Lisa Harrison.
Eleven-year-old Solway Sam (8-1) has not been the most reliable of individuals but he stuck his neck out to finish three-quarters of a length ahead of Rev Up Ruby in the Monsterbet Handicap Hurdle.
"Its absolutely brilliant, especially as I didn't fancy him as much as the other horse I rode for Lisa (the pulled-up Topo Gigio). I've been there about four weeks now, and had two winners point-to-pointing. Brian Harding is looking after me, he's been a big help to me," Day said.
Gabrial The Great, a smart handicapper for Luca Cumani, continued his swift transition for Donald McCain by strolling to his third consecutive jumping win as 1-6 favourite in the Murrayshall Hotel And Golf Courses Novices' Hurdle.
Wilson Renwick was on the mark again later aboard another Irish visitor Top Chief (5-2 favourite) for standing dish Gordon Elliott in the Farmers Market September 8th & 9th Selling Handicap Hurdle.
The shape of the Celebration Of The Horse Day July 30th Novices' Handicap Chase changed at the first when two of the market leaders, Lady Fingers and Pumped Up Kicks, crashed through it and took the fence out of service but thankfully horses and jockeys were unscathed.
It was left for Humphrey Bee (9-1) to thwart Stitched In Time with Harding taking the spare while trainer Nick Alexander's daughter Lucy is on the sidelines.
Super Collider (5-1) scraped home for the Corbett family in the ABF Soldiers Charity Handicap Hurdle.
==================================== Carpenter in line for France return
Master Carpenter could return to France for his next mission in the Prix Eugene Adam on July 20.
On Monday, Rod Millman's chestnut gave the trainer a winner with his first runner at Chantilly as he picked up the Prix Daphnis thanks to a commanding ride from Christophe Soumillon.
A month earlier, the colt gained his first Listed success in the Heron Stakes at Sandown and had finished third behind Kingman and Night Of Thunder in the Greenham.
Writing on the stable's website, Millman's son James said: "With Master Carpenter clearly most effective on a soft surface, we decided to miss Royal Ascot and our decision was certainly vindicated by success at Chantilly.
"It also showed that he can travel abroad which certainly opens up more options, especially as there is often ease in the ground in France. He could well head back across the English Channel for a Group Two at Maisons-Laffitte in three weeks' time.
"Long time aim could be the QEII at Ascot's Champions meeting, with soft ground likely, and Top Notch Tonto showed last year that place prize money is achievable for horses that might not be true Group One class but are most effective in soft ground."
================================= Stewards' Cup name change defended
Goodwood and sponsors 32Red have defended the decision to change the name of the historic Stewards' Cup.
The famous sprint at Glorious Goodwood on August 2, which was first staged in 1840, will this year be known as the 32Red Cup. The bookmaker is also backing the consolation 32RedSport.com Handicap which opens the card on the same afternoon.
Back in 2010, the sponsors changed the name of one of Britain's other traditional handicaps, running the Bunbury Cup as the 32Red Trophy before bringing the old name back the following year.
The decision to change the name could be viewed as controversial and did not receive universal approval on social media.
Goodwood's PR manager Lucy Humble said: "From our point of view it was a commercial decision, we've worked closely with the sponsors and it was something they wanted to do. We weren't in a position to turn down a sponsor for this race. We all know it's a big betting race and, apart from last year, it has often been sponsored by a bookmaker.
"Stewards' is still in there in brackets and if, for example, 32Red decided not to sponsor next year, we'd be 100 per cent behind turning it back to the Stewards' Cup."
Matt Booth, commercial director at 32Red, said: "We had a decision to make, basically. We've been in horseracing sponsorship for a number of years now, including sponsoring heritage races, and if you make a significant investment, you want the best chance for your name to be carried in the relevant media.
"Quite often, especially with the length of the race titles, there is the chance that the name of the sponsors can be dropped, and we didn't want that to happen."
Three former winners have been entered again in last year's hero Rex Imperator, Hoof It and the veteran Borderlescott. Robert Cowell's Intrinsic has been made the 14-1 ante-post favourite by the sponsors despite missing the cut for the Wokingham at Ascot.
James Tate feels Ruwaiyan has the ability to go close having chased home Danzeno in the Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle on Saturday. The capable Iptisam could give the trainer a second string to his bow.
"Ruwaiyan has taken his race at Newcastle very well and we are now looking at the 32Red Cup. He runs well in big fields and has definitely got faster as he's got older. Saeed Manana owns the family, so it could be that we look at Listed and Group Three races, but big field handicaps will suit this horse better," said Tate.
"We had been looking forward to dropping him back to six furlongs for a while and we expected a big run at Newcastle. The only disappointing aspect was that they didn't go that fast in it because he doesn't like to make the pace.
"We will get a stronger pace at Goodwood and he has already proven himself at the track having finished second there over seven on his penultimate start. If he is drawn well, we would be very much looking forward to it.
"Iptisam progressed really well on the all-weather and ran a cracking race to finish second to Stepper Point in a Listed race. He was drawn 10 that day, which is almost an impossible draw to win from at Lingfield.
"Unfortunately, he had a problem in the Palace House, but he has fully recovered from that and will be ready to run in about two weeks. I guess we will be looking at one run before the 32Red Cup. We will see how he gets on and then make a decision."
Alben Star, Gamesome, Line Of Reason and Lancelot Du Lac are all among the bumper entry.
=============================== McCoy in the wars at Worcester
Champion jockey Tony McCoy was in the wars at Worcester as he overcame a crunching fall to ride the winner of the following race before standing himself down for the rest of the day.
Partnering Flemenson in the Blazing Savills Handicap Hurdle, McCoy appeared to have the race in the bag when his mount dived at the second-last flight, firing the Ulsterman into the ground. Sur La Mer and Harry Derham were following and had nowhere to go, with the horse standing on McCoy's chest. The race was won by Aalim.
After a few anxious moments, McCoy and Flemenson were on their feet, with the jockey soon changed into the colours of Full Throttle for the BellBet.com Offers You World Cup Value Novices' Hurdle, where the 10-11 favourite was an easy winner.
McCoy had earlier claimed the World Cup Live Updates At FootballScore.com Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race on Ozzy Thomas (15-8 favourite).
Speaking to At The Races after Full Throttle's win, a visibly shaken McCoy said: " He (Sur La Mer) stood on my chest and I got a kick in my leg which I've got a couple of stitches in.
"I'm pretty sore so I'd say I'm done now for the day.
"I couldn't do much there, I was a passenger."
McCoy passed up the mounts on Jonjo O'Neill's Downtown Manhattan and Laura Mongan's Stay In My Heart.
======================================= Hughes considers Sussex tactics
Richard Hughes admits he will have to get his thinking cap on to come up with a way to beat Kingman aboard Toronado in the Qipco Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on July 30.
Toronado won the "Duel on the Downs" last year when he finally got the better of Dawn Approach but he now faces another big rival.
Kingman established himself as the best three-year-old miler with a dominant display in the St James's Palace Stakes, while Toronado laid claim to being the best older miler around in winning the Queen Anne.
It is a mouthwatering clash but the weight-for-age scale is firmly in favour of John Gosden's younger colt.
"I have to give Kingman 8lb. That's a lot of weight," Hughes told At The Races.
"There's not going to be that many runners in it so that doesn't really bode well for me either so tactically it is not in my favour.
"The idea would be to stretch Kingman but there's a very fine line between stretching him and being there like a sitting duck and giving him a good lead, a very fine line.
"He (Toronado) has made the running before when he won the Guineas trial (Craven last year) so tactically he's very versatile."
======================================= Aigles on road to recovery
Cirrus Des Aigles continues to recover well after his scare on Derby Day at Epsom with trainer Corine Barande-Barbe optimistic the popular gelding can return for an autumn campaign.
As soon as the eight-year-old had passed the post for his sixth Group One win in the Investec Coronation Cup, there was alarm when he pulled up lame and jockey Christophe Soumillon jumped off.
He was able to walk soundly soon after and subsequent X-rays revealed there to be no lasting damage.
Cirrus Des Aigles is the family pet at Barande-Barbe's traditional Chantilly stable, and his handler said: "Everything is good, he's doing well.
"We were advised to leave him to rest for six weeks, and that's what he's doing. He just goes out to eat some grass and relax.
"He should come back into training at the end of July and hopefully he will be able to run at the end of September, maybe at the Arc meeting."
As geldings are not allowed to contest the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Cirrus Des Aigles has made the Group Two Prix Dollar his own, winning it three times in the last four years.
========================================== Ascot winners in Gimcrack mix
Star juveniles The Wow Signal, Baitha Alga and Hootenanny feature in an 88-strong entry for the £200,000 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes at York on August 23.
The trio all won at Royal Ascot, in the Coventry, Norfolk and Windsor Castle Stakes respectively, although The Wow Signal and Baitha Alga are unlikely to run against each other as both are in the ownership of Al Shaqab Racing. The Prix Morny is another option.
American ace Hootenanny, trained by Wesley Ward, is also in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes 24 hours earlier.
Promising Hugo Palmer colt Aktabantay got off the mark at Newcastle and has been given the York engagement, as has David Brown's Norfolk runner-up Mind Of Madness and impressive Roger Varian-trained Yarmouth maiden winner Belardo.
Coventry second Cappella Sansevero (Ger Lyons) has been beaten since by Kool Kompany (Richard Hannon) in the Railway Stakes at the Curragh and the duo could renew rivalry.
The Great War and War Envoy are two of Aidan O'Brien's possibles.
===================================== Gosden aces headline Voltigeur
John Gosden's possible Ladbrokes St Leger contenders Romsdal, Forever Now and Eagle Top have all been given entries in the Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes at York on August 20.
The Group Two is usually the strongest trial for the season's final Classic, which Gosden has landed twice in the last four years.
Eagle Top recently took the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, while Romsdal is at the top of the Leger betting after finishing third in the Investec Derby. Forever Now has already been given a good mention by his trainer after landing a Doncaster maiden.
Both Eagle Top and Forever Now are owned by Lady Bamford, and it has been suggested the former could be supplemented for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on July 26.
Lady Bamford's racing manager Hugo Lascelles said: "We're waiting to see what happens with Eagle Top. The King George has been mooted and he has been given an entry in the Voltigeur. We'll wait and see, but he won't be running in the Leger.
"Forever Now might run at Newmarket next week in the Bahrain Trophy, but he could end up running at York."
Other interesting entries are Sirius, trained in Germany by Andreas Lowe, while Mark Johnston's Hartnell and Sir Michael Stoute's Cannock Chase were also Royal Ascot winners.
Aidan O'Brien has a handful of potential runners and Granddukeoftuscany could be one, as the trainer said after his facile recent win at Tipperary: "We'll train him for the Great Voltigeur and he'll get a rest after this."
Promising John Oxx-trained colt Streetcar To Stars would be another to note. Beaten a nose in a Listed race on just his second racecourse outing, the son of Sea The Stars had no trouble losing his maiden tag at the Curragh last week and is expected to get a Leger entry.
======================================= Hamdan plans still open for Curragh
No decision has yet been made over whether Investec Oaks first and second Taghrooda and Tarfasha will clash again in the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh on July 19.
Both fillies are owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum, with Taghrooda trained by John Gosden and Tarfasha in the care of Dermot Weld.
Taghrooda came out on top in style at Epsom but on home territory Tarfasha may be a tougher nut to crack - unless the ground is soft which would place her participation in doubt.
"We've not really discussed it as yet as all sorts of things can still go wrong, especially with fillies," said the owner's racing manager Angus Gold.
"Both could still run, but we'll see how both are nearer the time and then we'll ask Sheikh Hamdan whether he wants to run them both again.
"Both of them have been in very good form since Epsom, I've been informed.
"It's well documented Tarfasha wouldn't want it soft so if it went heavy that would probably rule her out.
"So many things can go wrong it wouldn't make sense to say one will run and one won't.
"Once they start some faster work closer to the race we'll see, but ultimately Sheikh Hamdan will decide."
====================================== Hill edging closer to Eclipse run
Investec Derby runner-up Kingston Hill has come in for support ahead of Saturday's Coral-Eclipse at Sandown, with trainer Roger Varian stating he is "keen" to run his stable star.
An 11th hour defector from last weekend's Irish Derby, Kingston Hill is now 7-1 from 10-1 with the sponsors despite there still being a slight question mark over his participation.
Rain is forecast overnight on Friday and while Varian is not looking for a mudbath, he would be loath to risk his Racing Post Trophy winner on ground with any jar.
"We're very keen to run on Saturday if we possibly can, we're not looking for soft ground, we understand we're in the summer time - he doesn't have to have it soft, but we're just looking for safe, galloping ground," Varian told At The Races.
"If it was too firm that might put our participation in doubt. Looking at the forecast there might be a bit of weather moving in Friday night/Saturday morning, how much that will bring I'm not sure but if it's enough to make it safe, galloping ground that would give us every chance to run. "
Should the Eclipse be ruled out, Kingston Hill will be on his travels once more, this time to France for the Grand Prix de Paris.
"Paris looks a logical alternative, it's for three-year-olds over a mile and a half, but I hope we get the chance to run on Saturday," said Varian.
"You get a bit fed up looking at weather forecasts as one day it throws you one way and another it throws you the other. In the end patience is the key. We've got a smart horse on our hands and we'll do the right thing by him."
Coral would expect to see more money for Kingston Hill if the rain arrives, while favourite The Fugue would be a likely drifter.
"If conditions were deemed suitable for Kingston Hill to take his chance on Saturday, his price would shorten further following his excellent second place behind Australia at Epsom, while in those circumstances The Fugue would almost certainly be bigger than her current odds," said Coral's David Stevens.
Current second-favourite is Richard Hannon's Qipco 2000 Guineas winner Night Of Thunder. While no match for Kingman at Ascot, the step up in trip and less forceful tactics might see him in an even better light, particularly with some juice in the ground.
"You can't beat a soft lead in any race and at Ascot my lad got that, we quickened first and Kingman went by me while I was quickening which is most unusual," said Night Of Thunder's jockey Richard Hughes on Racing UK.
"We were very disappointed after Newbury (when beaten by Kingman in the Greenham), we couldn't believe he got beaten, and that forced me to ride Toormore in the Guineas but I wasn't surprised when he won. At the end of last year I was hoping he'd stay a mile but when I rode him in the spring I had no doubts that he'd stay a mile.
"There's no reason why he won't get the trip, that's the least of our worries at the moment. Ideally I'd like good or slow ground because at Ascot I just felt in the last 100 yards he wasn't striding out on that quick ground.
"We're under no illusions as to how good she (The Fugue) is and overnight rain or rain on the day will be a help. I've ridden her and she doesn't like it soft. It's the three-year-olds taking on the older horses. We know they're pretty good this year and how good we'll find out on Saturday."
Another wanting rain is Andrew Balding for his runner Tullius, who has been a revelation this season since he returned from injury with a series of very smart performances including when winning the Group Two bet365 Mile at Sandown in the spring.
He has since finished second in the Lockinge at Newbury and fourth in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
"He needs a bit of rain but we'd like to run as we'd like to see how he acts over a mile and a quarter. He'd want good ground at least. I think they are due some rain on Friday so I imagine we'll declare him and make a decision on the day," said Balding.

Christophe Soumillon will maintain his association with Spanish speedster Noozhoh Canarias in the Darley July Cup next Saturday. Enrique Leon: Trainer of Noozhoh Canarias Enrique Leon's three-year-old has not been seen since setting a scorching gallop in the 2000 Guineas when he faded to finish sixth behind Night Of Thunder. "He will have one more serious gallop on the racecourse but he doesn't need much, he's in pretty good form at the moment."

17:20 Thursday 3rd July Racing Tips - 03/07/2014
A couple of 3 year olds have won the 6 furlong handicap at Haydock in the last 10 years and I fancy another will today. Of them, whilst Foxy Clarets looks progressive, he will unlikely be able to dominate and a few could cancel each other out here. Dreams Of Reality could be a little above these and she will be able to sit handy of a decent pace which will certainly suit. The eye shield has made all the difference and she can be marked up more than 5lb on the strength of her win last time out given she had to race wide. The same may happen today but tucking in behind some proper pace should be no worry and looks the best course of action. 4/1 is fair in a race where some have a point to prove now and she should be just as effective on turf. It looks between her and Holy Angel. Haydock 15.20 - Dreams Of Reality 1pt win
The final race on the card sees course specialist Chosen Character line up but you'd expect Multi Bene to reverse the form of their recent run now on better ground. The one I think is worth a go is Life Partner at 11/2 who looks to be crying out for a return to a mile. Heavy ground put paid to his chances off this mark on reappearance whilst cut wasn't ideal on penultimate start in a race won by a very progressive sort. He gets his ground today and did best of those form the back last time out when shaping as if needing an extra furlong. I'm wary of Balducci but am not sure he should be favourite. Haydock 17.20 - Life Partner 1pt win

STEPPER POINT, 50-1 runner-up to Sole Power in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, is likely to take his chance in the Coral Charge at Sandown on Saturday, for which he is a top-priced 6-1 favourite.
Trainer William Muir said on Wednesday: "He came out of Royal Ascot in better shape than any other race this season and therefore the plan is to run on Saturday. ================================ The Newmarket racing industry got the news it least wanted to hear last night when Lord Derby was finally granted outline planning permission to develop his controversial site at Hatchfield Farm in the north-east of the town.
After five years of protests, including one on horseback just last week, Lord Derby's latest scheme to build 400 houses at the location got the green light from members of the planning committee at Forest Heath District Council at Mildenhall.
After a meeting lasting more than two hours, councillors voted 10-5, with one abstention, to approve the application on a recorded vote.
There is still hope for the racing industry, however, as the secretary of state Eric Pickles has the option to call in the decision in the coming months.
There was a healthy turnout at last night's meeting from the Newmarket racing and breeding industries to show their opposition to the plans, as well as the Save Historic Newmarket action group.
Newmarket Town Council, which had previously turned down the application, was led by recently elected mayor Rachel Hood.
Those present also included trainers Lady Cecil, Sir Michael Stoute, James Fanshawe, James Toller, William Jarvis and James Eustace.
In the end their protests fell on deaf ears when it came to the crunch with councillors voting in favour of the development, which is a scaled-down version of the original 1,200-home scheme that was thrown out by Pickles in March 2012.
John Berry, representing Newmarket Town Council, was among the speakers.
He said after the vote: "It's no surprise but it's not the end of the matter as the secretary of state may yet call it in, so there is still hope.
"It's not what we wanted, but I just hope this decision doesn't make owners want their horses trained elsewhere."
Among the fears voiced after the meeting were that Lord Derby would find it easier to get further homes on the site in the future now he has received the go-ahead for the initial phase, but the crucial issue was, as ever, the potential effect the development would have on traffic.
Jacko Fanshawe, wife of trainer James and a Newmarket town councillor, said: "It is just so unfair that something so important has been given the go-ahead by a bunch of nincompoops, most of whom don't live anywhere near Newmarket."
Lord Derby's representative Rebekah Paczek said: "Obviously Lord Derby is pleased with the decision and we look forward to working closely with the horseracing industry in the future. "It's a good outcome but there is still a way to go." ====================================== Sandown quickens as temperatures soar SOARING temperatures at Sandown on Wednesday resulted in the ground quickening up three days prior to a possible mouthwatering running of the Coral-Eclipse Stakes. =====================================

Late summer return for Mustajeeb
Dermot Weld's smart three-year-old Mustajeeb is enjoying a mid-season break before coming back for major targets later in the year, including one on Irish Champions Weekend.
Second to War Command in the Futurity Stakes last year, the Nayef colt beat his elders on his return to action in the Amethyst Stakes before finding soft ground against him when third to Kingman in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
He got back on the winning trail when defying a penalty in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, beating another Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned three-year-old in John Gosden's Muwaary, who had finished fourth in the French Guineas.
The owner's racing manager Angus Gold said: "Mustajeeb is on his summer holidays at the minute and is enjoying a break.
"We'll be looking for targets later in the year and Dermot mentioned the Group Two at Leopardstown on Irish Champions Weekend (Clipper Logistics Boomerang Stakes).
"Muwaary might go back to France, John Gosden has mentioned the Prix Jean Prat so we'll have a look at that."
======================================= Aktabantay aiming high
Aktabantay will be given plenty of options at Pattern level following his novice stakes victory at Newcastle.
Trainer Hugo Palmer will look at the decent races for two-year-olds for the rest of the season over six and in particular seven furlongs.
The first possible target is the 666bet Superlative Stakes at Newmarket's July meeting on Saturday week.
The Oasis Dream colt could wait for the Listed Titanic Belfast Winkfield Stakes at Ascot on July 26 or be given more time and be aimed at the Solario Stakes at Sandown on August 30.
Major races for juveniles in the autumn could then await Aktabantay, who confirmed the promise of his first two starts with a comfortable success at Gosforth Park last week.
"He's come out of the race very well. It's not impossible he'll be entered in the Superlative Stakes at the July meeting, but I fear that may come too quick for him," said Palmer.
"The Winkfield Stakes, the race that Toronado won in 2012, is very much on his agenda, but we could just give him a bit of a break and wait for the Solario at Sandown.
"He's got a Gimcrack entry as well. He will get a Champagne entry and he will get a Dewhurst entry and we will let the horse guide us where we go.
"All options from Listed upwards will be open to him."
================================== Rain crucial for Maarek July hopes
Evanna McCutcheon is anxiously waiting for rain to decide if she can run Maarek in next week's Darley July Cup at Newmarket.
The young Tipperary trainer decided to pull last year's Prix de l'Abbaye winner out of an engagement at the Curragh over the weekend as he must have some cut in the ground.
"We just need some help from mother nature, and the forecast's not looking too good," McCutcheon said.
"He's bouncing at home and raring to go, but I said I'd run him on good ground, but not when there's any firm in it."
Multi-talented McCutcheon was at least in action herself over the Irish Derby weekend, as she rode the winner of the Macari's Of Kildare Ladies Derby.
"It was nice. I've won quite a few point-to-points and I might be riding over jumps at Limerick on Sunday," she said.
"There aren't as many lady amateur riders' races over here as there are in England, but I'll leave riding Maarek to the professionals!"
===================================== Pleascach impresses with win
Pleascach turned out quickly at Leopardstown and made it pay with an impressive success in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning.
The daughter of Teofilo had made her debut in a Group Three at the Curragh on Sunday, finishing a creditable fourth to I Am Beautiful.
The experience was clearly not lost on her as she travelled handily on the heels of Simply A Star.
Seamie Heffernan's mount looked like she might make all at one stage, but Manning had every move covered as the 9-10 favourite moved sweetly into contention.
Once asked she eased clear for a ready two-and-three-quarter-length success.
Bolger, who has in string in great form, said: "She is very green, she's done nothing she just came to hand very quick so we said we'd give her a race at the Curragh. She didn't have a hard race as she didn't know what to do.
"She didn't quite get it all together, but she showed the benefit of the run this evening.
"Long-term the goal is the Debutante, we'll probably run in between but I'm not sure where.
"She's my Guineas/Oaks filly."
==================================== Mission working towards Champion
Lady Cecil's Noble Mission is unlikely to run this month after his agonising defeat in France last weekend.
Frankel's brother looked certain to add the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud to the Tattersalls Gold Cup he won in May, but was caught just strides from the line by Spiritjim.
He appeared not to fully see out the 12 furlongs, although owner Khalid Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe thinks that is a harsh assessment.
He has the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 18 as his main aim later in the season.
"He came out of the race fine. He ran a super race, but obviously it was a bit galling he got caught," said Grimthorpe.
"There are no confirmed plans for him, we'll look at various options but he's unlikely to have a run this month.
"He was only beaten a head so it's a bit unfair to say he didn't see out the trip. On the other hand he'd won his three previous races over 10 furlongs and a little bit further.
"I think he's capable over a mile and a half and I certainly wouldn't rule out him running over that trip again. Don't forget he beat a St Leger winner (Encke) in the Gordon Stakes.
"The Breeders' Cup is not something we are looking at for him at the moment and in a perfect world he'll be in the Champion Stakes, but there are a few obstacles before then."
==================================== Bradley and Powell face charges
Trainer Brendan Powell and former jockey Graham Bradley have been informed by the British Horseracing Authority that they will face a disciplinary panel hearing over charges that allege Bradley was training horses under Powell's name.
Bradley, who has been assisting Powell, applied for a training licence in May last year but that has still to be approved.
The hearing will seek to establish whether Powell is in breach of Rule (A)37 in that he assisted, encouraged or caused Bradley to train horses to run in races which took place in England, Wales and Scotland despite him not holding a trainer's licence granted by the BHA, and then allowed them to run under his name.
Should Powell be found to have acted in a manner prejudicial to the integrity, proper conduct or good reputation of horseracing in Great Britain, in breach of Rule (A)30, he could face a fine with an entry point of £2,000 or a three-month disqualification.
Bradley faces similar charges, in that he is alleged to have trained horses to run in England, Wales and Scotland without holding a licence, and that he encouraged Powell to act in a manner prejudicial to the integrity, proper conduct or good reputation of horseracing in Great Britain.
Powell insisted he was not guilty of any wrongdoing.
He said: "Graham brought the horses to my yard and I've been training them for a year and a half while he's been waiting to get a licence.
"Graham had owners waiting and he got them horses and asked me to train them. He's been in here three or four days a week helping out.
"I can't really say that much else.
"I've been training the horses, they're in my yard and I'll just have to go along with what they say. All I've been trying to do is help Graham because he had a lot to learn and that is basically what it is."
A date for the hearing has yet to be announced by the BHA, who said Bradley's application to train "has not been, and will not be, considered while an ongoing investigation regarding the applicant is being conducted. Graham Bradley is aware of this".
Bradley, who retired from race-riding in 1999, was warned off for five years for passing information to Brian Wright at a time when he was building a new career as a successful bloodstock agent in Wantage. His ban ended in 2009.
He declined to comment when contacted.
================================== Approval Haydock bid hinges on rain
Seal Of Approval's participation in Saturday's bet365 Lancashire Oaks is still up in the air despite the mare being declared for the Group Two.
James Fanshawe's five-year-old was a winner on Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot last year and made a pleasing return when fourth in the Yorkshire Cup. While connections are keen to run, rain is needed for the daughter of Authorized.
A statement on Fanshawe's website read: "We would love to run Seal Of Approval in the Lancashire Oaks, but unless they get a lot of rain which is not forecast between now and Saturday she won't."
Seal Of Approval is one of 12 declarations which include the unbeaten John Gosden pair Pomology and Sultanina.
Charity Line will make her debut for Marco Botti having won a Group One in Italy, with last year's Oaks winner Talent also declared.
Moment In Time, Astonishing and Johnny Murtagh's We'll Go Walking are other runners.
====================================== Dettori on Hill in classy Eclipse
The Fugue and Night Of Thunder headline the first big clash of the generations this season in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday - in which Frankie Dettori is a surprise booking for Kingston Hill.
The Fugue bids to follow up her victory in the Prince of Wales's Stakes and erase the memory of her dismal run in this race 12 months ago.
The admirable mare, trained by John Gosden, finished last behind Al Kazeem last summer but went on to win Group Ones at York and Leopardstown in 2013, and has won four times in all at the highest level.
She will be taken on by one of the best three-year-old colts around in Night Of Thunder, the 40-1 winner of the Qipco 2000 Guineas who has since taken second place behind the Gosden-trained Kingman in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Investec Derby runner-up Kingston Hill has been declared at the 48-hour final declaration stage, but his participation depends on the state of the ground. The Roger Varian-trained colt was a late withdrawal from the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby last weekend because conditions were considered too fast for the son of Mastercraftsman.
If he runs he will be ridden by Dettori for the first time as his usual partner Andrea Atzeni is required at Haydock by owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, who retains the young Italian on all his horses.
Atzeni said: "I'm going to Haydock for a couple of rides. When you have a retainer there's always a risk of something like this happening. I signed the contract last year and it states I go wherever I'm required.
"To be fair, Mohammed has been very good regarding Kingston Hill and has let me off a couple of times but this weekend he wants me at Haydock and I totally understand that. It's a shame, obviously, but it's one of those things.
"I'm going to ride a lovely horse (Roseburg) who has won his last two and is improving very fast. It's my job to go where Mohammed has runners.
"I'll be cheering Kingston on, though, make no mistake. I'm happy Frankie rides him."
In contrast to Kingston Hill, connections of True Story want the going to be fast for the Godophin-owned colt, who was only seventh in the Derby at Epsom. His team have not lost faith in Saeed bin Suroor's charge and will have a pacemaker in the shape of the Mark Johnston-trained Somewhat.
A fifth three-year-old among the 11 declarations is Aidan O'Brien's War Command, who finished behind Night Of Thunder in the 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes. His trainer is also represented by Verrazano.
Officials at Sandown are expecting a little rain but have been doing prudent watering in places.
"We think rain is on its way. The forecast for the last few days has been pretty consistent for us in that a spell of what looks like light patchy rain, but spread over a number of hours, should come across the south east on Friday evening into Saturday morning. Dry and warm until then," clerk of the course Andrew Cooper told At The Races.
"As to the volume of rain in that Friday night spell, nothing I'm looking at says we will get beyond five millimetres of potential rain. It sounds like it's going to be a night of light patchy drizzle before it clears up on Saturday morning. That is the kind of consistent forecast we have been getting all week.
"It is good, Flat racing ground in the main, with the hot dry weather we've had introducing good to firm places.
"We did a little bit of watering on the bend on Wednesday night. One or two of the quick bits we will have a look at now. We have the ability to put on two millimetres, just something to hold the ground where it is. We just might keep on top of the quick bits to keep it in the good, good to firm places territory."
====================================== Star names for Matron Stakes
Sky Lantern and Integral are just two of the star names among 46 for the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes on September 13 during Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown.
Richard Hannon's Sky Lantern won the 1000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes and the Sun Chariot Stakes in a stellar three-year-old campaign.
Integral has progressed through the ranks and was an impressive winner of the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Some smart three-year-olds are also engaged with Clive Brittain's Rizeena, Lightning Thunder, Kiyoshi and Certify entered.
The home defence is headed by John Oxx's promising My Titania and a strong team from Aidan O'Brien that includes Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Marvellous.
Duntle, first past the post two years ago for David Wachman, Fiesolana, Purr Along and Flying Jib are others who may fight to keep the prize at home.
Christy Grassick, manager of Coolmore, said: "Coolmore are delighted to be associated with such a prestigious race.
"Always an exciting contest, this clash of the generations between Europe's leading three-year-olds and their older counterparts forms an important part of Irish Champions Weekend."
======================================== Faydhan dazzles on debut
Faydhan was introduced as favourite for the Qipco 2000 Guineas after making a superb debut at Haydock.
The John Gosden-trained colt, owned by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, impressed BetVictor so much they make the son of War Front 16-1 market leader for the Newmarket Classic.
The 500,000 dollar purchase had been expected to run a big race and was supported to do so, being sent off the 10-11 favourite.
He won in tremendous style despite being slowly away and showing his obvious inexperience. What could not be denied was his class which took him to the front inside the final furlong and he pulled well clear.
He was going further away at the line as he bolted up by six lengths from the race-fit Dutch Connection, with Speedy Move another length and a quarter back in third.
"He's a big baby, he even jumped the road, but he has a great temperament," jockey Paul Hanagan told Racing UK.
"I was pleased. He just took a bit of organising, but once he got to the girth of Joe Fanning's horse (Speedy Move) I was always confident.
"He's got plenty of scope, he'll get seven furlongs but it's still early days.
"I'll have a chat with Mr Gosden and the boss (Sheikh Hamdan) and see what they say."
Faydhan holds an entry in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes at York on August 23.

THE BHA has moved to prevent a repeat of the furore over the re-naming of the Stewards' Cup by recommending all heritage handicaps should retain their original name in the title regardless of sponsorship deals.
The names of Flat Pattern races are currently protected and under BHA plans all heritage handicaps like the Stewards' Cup, run on the final day of Glorious Goodwood and re-named the 32Red Cup this year, could be elevated to the same status of protection.
BHA spokesman Robin Mounsey told the Racing Post: "We consider the heritage and history of the sport as one of its key selling points and as such it is disappointing when any aspect of the sport which carries that tradition and prestige is lost, for however long.
"With the exception of Pattern races, race names are owned by the racecourse. Consequently, we have no authority over name changes in heritage handicap races and as such were unable to prevent the name change for the Stewards' Cup.
"However, it is our intention to address this by amending our General Instructions in order to protect the names of heritage handicaps."
The BHA added that this move was already being considered prior to the Stewards' Cup controversy kicking off.
The current status is that Flat Pattern races are entirely protected and must carry their registered name. But other races have no protection from name changes.
Any change of the General Instructions would have to go via the General Instructions committee so could not happen immediately. The process would involve consultation with the Racecourse Association, who are part of the committee. ========================================= THE death of a racegoer at York last year was a tragic accident, a coroner's inquest ruled on Thursday.
Jack Yates fell backwards as he attempted to slide down the wooden handrail of the staircase on the second floor of the Knavesmire Stand and suffered a fractured skull and spine.
Assistant coroner Jonathan Leach also pointed to alcohol intoxication as a factor in the death of the human resources assistant from Queensbury, near Bradford.
"It was the tragic end to a very young life," he said. "My conclusion is that he died as a result of a tragic accident."
Yates went racing to celebrate his upcoming 22nd birthday with a group of friends, of whom Thomas Hainsworth said in a written statement: "We had been drinking on the train into York. I had five pints and four vodka and cokes, and the rest probably had the same.
"I saw Jack sit on the rail and slide down. He fell backwards from the handrail and I could see him fall."
The incident happened after the last race on Saturday, May 25 last year.
Yates and two of the group had been warned of the dangers of playing on the stairwell by Linda Stephenson, part of the racecourse security staff, who told the inquest at the Barbican Centre in York: "I asked them kindly to get off. The young lad was joking on, saying, 'health and safety, health and safety, everything is health and safety these days.'
"He did move away, and so did the other two chaps with him, but four or five steps later he got back on the rail." ======================================= 'Slur' claim as HSBC closes course layers' accounts BANKING giant HSBC has been accused of a slur against on-course bookmakers after informing a number of layers their accounts had been terminated. ==================================== Royal Ascot bookies fail underage test ON-COURSE bookmakers have been warned they could face sanctions from the Gambling Commission after every layer involved failed a test-purchasing operation during Royal Ascot. ================================== Jockey Club advises against cut in races THE Jockey Club warned a swingeing cut in race numbers could have a significant impact on racing's economy, with a reduction of 345 races leading to total prize-money reductions of around £2.65 million. ======================================== Toomey hoping to ride again Brian Toomey still harbours hopes of returning to the saddle, and said: "Everything is going well at the moment, but I'm lucky to be here after having such an injury. The Godolphin operation could leave Newmarket after controversial development plans were approved on Wednesday. Much of the town, and the racing industry in particular, has been fighting Lord Derby's proposed development plans for Hatchfield Farm but a scaled down version of the original application received the go-ahead by a vote of 10-5 at a meeting of Forest Heath District Council.
The new plan consists of the building of 400 homes and looks set to go ahead although Eric Pickles, Secretary of State, could decide to review the approval.
Fears have been expressed that a potential increase in traffic will harm the racing industry and those concerns were expressed to the Guardian on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed by spokesman Hugh Anderson.
“Thirty years ago, would he have come here as it is now? I think it’s a really good question,” Anderson told the newspaper immediately after the vote.
“It is undoubtedly a more difficult place to operate in than it used to be. I’ve been reluctant to make some kind of a big threat about Sheikh Mohammed’s views on whether we stay or go but the fact is that he personally is extremely concerned about what’s happening here and it must not have a serious impact on what we’re doing because we’ve got a lot of other places we can operate from.”
Earlier, when addressing the committee, Anderson had said: “Newmarket has all the facilities that a top owner and breeder could possibly want but those facilities are put at increasing risk as the town becomes more urbanised.
"It is virtually impossible to prove evidence of what is going to happen in the future but look at the people who are standing outside and protesting.
“You have champion trainers, small trainers, people representing the ancillary industries. They are not all lunatics.”
The council’s planning officers argued that there is a clear need for housing in the area and no evidence of likely harm to the racing industry.

Tony McCoy will missed his rides at Perth today but is expected to be back in action at Market Rasen when jumps racing resumes on Sunday. The record-breaking 19-times champion jockey took a crashing fall from Flemenson at the second-last flight when looking set for success at Worcester on Wednesday, but still went to complete the second leg of a double there on Full Throttle.
However, he gave up his two remaining rides on the card and decided not to make the journey to Scotland, where he had four mounts booked.
"He's having a day off. He's a bit sore. He'll be back at Market Rasen on Sunday," said his agent Dave Roberts.

Luca Cumani's Havana Cooler heads 19 declarations for Saturday's bet365 Old Newton Cup at Haydock Park. Havana Cooler and Salutation ran in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes The Newmarket handler has won the prestigious handicap three times in the past decade and his four-year-old has been to the fore of the ante-post markets since running a fine third at Royal Ascot on his seasonal reappearance. Cumani earmarked this contest for Havana Cooler following that run, writing on his website "Havana Cooler is another that has all the major handicaps on his agenda after his excellent reappearance in the Duke Of Edinburgh. "Third place would have been an acceptable return beforehand, but even so we were very encouraged by the manner in which he stayed on over a trip that’s a bare minimum for him in a race which in truth suited those horses that had already shown decent form at a mile and a quarter, and he will head next for the Old Newton Cup at Haydock where the longer straight will suit him much better. "Looking further ahead Havana Cooler will be back at York in August where he was third last year in the Melrose and will hopefully improve our fair record in the Ebor, as he’s a horse who will benefit considerably from the step back up to a mile and three quarters." Mark Johnston saddled the winner 12 months ago and he is set to be represented by Salutation, who finished one place in front of Havana Cooler at Ascot, and Sennockian Star who finished fourth in the Wolferton Handicap at the Royal Meeting. Other notable runners include Sir Michael Stoute's progressive four-year-old Stomachion and the well-backed Magic Hurricane. Lady Cecil's Mighty Yar is bidding to bounce back from a below par display while Sir Mark Prescott is set to be represented by Cesarewitch fifth Pallasator who will be having his first run of the season. Sky Bet bet: 4/1 Havana Cooler, 7/1 Magic Hurricane & Stomachion, 8/1 Salutation & Mighty Yar, 11s bar.

Seal Of Approval's participation in Saturday's bet365 Lancashire Oaks is still up in the air despite the mare being declared in the Group Two. Seal Of Approval needs rain in order to take her chance James Fanshawe's five-year-old was a winner on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot last year and made a pleasing return when fourth in the Yorkshire Cup. While connections are keen to run, rain is needed for the daughter of Authorized. A statement on Fanshawe's website read: "We would love to run Seal Of Approval in the Lancashire Oaks, but unless they get a lot of rain which is not forecast between now and Saturday she won't." Seal Of Approval is one of 12 declarations which include the unbeaten John Gosden pair Pomology and Sultanina. Charity Line will make her debut for Marco Botti having won a Group One in Italy, with last year's Oaks winner Talent also declared. Moment In Time, Astonishing and Johnny Murtagh's We'll Go Walking are other runners.

Perth, 3 July 2014
4.00, fourth race
The Stewards gave permission for this race to be started by flag due to a fault with the tape mechanism.
5.30, seventh race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Wilson Renwick, the rider of MR BURGEES (IRE), placed second, from the wings of the second last hurdle. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. As the offence warranted a suspension of between 2 and 6 days and taking into account that this was the rider’s fifth such suspension within the previous 6 months the Stewards referred Renwick to the British Horseracing Authority.

This being the second occasion within the previous 12 months that ANNOUNCEMENT had been reported, the Stewards informed the trainer that if the filly were reported for a third time within the same period, ANNOUNCEMENT would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.

WILLIAM HILL have announced that chief executive Ralph Topping is to step down from the role at the end of July when he will be succeeded by operations director James Henderson. ======================================== 8-1 shot Stomachion out of Old Newton Cup Sir Michael Stoute's Stomachion will not run in Saturday's bet365 Old Newton Cup at Haydock, for which he was a best-priced 8-1. He has been withdrawn on a self-certificate with a bruised foot. ==================================== Mukhadram 'focussed' for Eclipse showdown WILLIAM HAGGAS is confident Mukhadram, his contender for Saturday's Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes, is a better horse than when third in the Sandown showdown last year. ===================================

15:35 Friday 4th July Racing Tips - 04/07/2014
The opener on the Sandown card has a couple of likely sorts near the top of the market and I like both Tagula Night and New Fforest. The former loves it here and is well drawn. He looks progressive enough to defy a penalty and Ryan Moore booked has to be a plus. It's the slightly bigger price about the latter that makes him a bet though and the fact that Oisin Murphy still has that 3lb claim. He gets on very well with the horse and is also well drawn to get out and race prominently off a likely decent pace. It's hard to see him out of the top 3 at 6/1. Milly's Gift would be pick at the prices but she does have to prove she has the speed for this drop to 5 furlongs. Sandown 14.00 - New Fforest 1pt e/w
I'm tempted by Snap Shots in the Dragon Stakes but whether he's value is debatable and Mukhmal may be better suited to this smaller field than he faced at Ascot. Beacon could be too good for the both of them. The Gala Stakes has a likeable sort as favourite but he did worry me at Epsom in a race he should probably have done a little better in. Perhaps the return to 10 furlongs will suit but he has just won 1 race in 10 and preference at the prices is for Educate at 7/2. Rated 4lb superior to Windhoek, he goes well on quick ground and will find this easier than the Group races he was contesting in Dubai. A modestly run 10 should suit and he goes well after a break. Sandown 15.35 - Educate 1pt win
Warwick hosts a modest card in truth but there are a few bets to be had and a cheeky one is Orient Sky at a price on handicap debut. Cheekpieces are tried after a forgetful run at Doncaster in March but that came on soft ground in a race won by That Is The Spirit and this 3 year old is not of that class. A poor handicap off an opening mark of 57 is more feasible though and the ground will suit a little better. His last start in 2013 was behind the likes of Group winner Supplicant and a handicap winner off 78, whilst those closer to him in the field won off 60 and 54 so his mark is feasible. He was also hampered at the start in that race and may have finished closer otherwise. He may find a few too good but it is a race lacking depth and 16/1 is worth a go. Warwick 15.10 - Orient Sky 1pt e/w
