12.45, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference on the run to the line. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, BILLY CUCKOO (IRE), ridden by Dougie Costello, had interfered with TREGARO (FR), placed thrid, ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies. The Stewards found Costello in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his horse to drift to the left, thereby causing interference. They cautioned him as to his future conduct in races.
2.20, fifth race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why BUGLER’S DREAM (USA), trained by John Ferguson, entered the Parade Ring after the signal to mount had been given. Having heard his representative’s evidence they accepted the explanation that BUGLER’S DREAM (USA), usually a straightforward gelding to saddle, was extremely difficult on this occasion and therefore took much longer, leading to him being late into the parade ring.

Sedgefield, 3 December 2013
1.00, second race
The Stewards noted that there was interference between the winner, MR UTAH, and MAGIC PRESENT, placed second, approaching and after the last hurdle, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved MR UTAH’s placing.
2.30, fifth race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, LIGHT THE CITY (IRE), ridden by Jake Greenall and trained by Ruth Carr, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer who stated that the gelding had benefited from the drop to a lower grade race. Having heard her evidence they forwarded her explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of LIGHT THE CITY (IRE) could be reviewed.
3.30, seventh race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Brian Hughes, the rider of COUSIN GUILLAUME (FR), placed second, in the home straight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Hughes for 4 days as follows: Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18, Thursday 19 and Friday 20 December 2013.
03/12/2013
Wolverhampton, 3 December 2013
2.40, second race
The Stewards noted that VODKA CHASER (IRE), placed fourth, had interfered with JAEGER CONNOISSEUR (IRE), placed second, who in turn interfered with BLACK VALE (IRE), placed third, just after leaving the stalls but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
3.10, third race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the five furlong marker. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that THREE PIPS, placed third, ridden by Graham Gibbons, had interfered with KEEP TO THE BEAT, unplaced, ridden by Shane Gray, causing interference to TRUANCY (IRE), the winner, ridden by Robert Winston, and NISSAKI KASTA, unplaced, ridden by Martin Harley. The Stewards found Gibbons in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed the colt to drift left. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 December 2013.

Sedgefield, 3 December 2013
2.30, fifth race
The representative of Sheena Walton, the trainer of HOBSONS BAY (IRE), which was pulled up, reported that the gelding had a breathing problem.
3.00, sixth race
The Stewards considered the running of MONBEG (IRE), ridden by Wilson Renwick and trained by Martin Todhunter, which finished unplaced. The Stewards noted the trainer’s explanation that the race may have come too soon and the gelding was never travelling. They ordered MONBEG (IRE) to be routine tested.
William Amos, the trainer of JAN JANDURA (IRE), unplaced, reported that the gelding had a breathing problem.

3 December 2013 – TOP RACING ACROSS THE COUNTRY There was top class National Hunt action both north and south on Saturday courtesy of Newbury and Newcastle.
JP McManus had to take the good with the bad as his best two novice hurdlers from last season took their first steps into championship company, and My Tent Or Yours and At Fishers Cross are on the list of horses discussed.
Halo shines
It must be a nice feeling to be able to win a race for the fifth consecutive occasion with a supposedly ‘inferior’ horse, writes Martin Greenwood .
The Stewart Family own not only the legendary Big Buck’s, winner of the Bet365 Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury from 2009 to 2012 inclusive, but also the ‘pretty good’ Celestial Halo who, like stable-companion Tidal Bay, can still hold his own in top company despite advancing years.
Relatively new to staying trips, Celestial Halo found Solwhit too good in last season’s World Hurdle but has since won the Prix La Barka at Auteuil and the latest running of the Long Distance at Newbury, both under new stable jockey Daryl Jacob who has ridden ‘Halo’ for his last five victories.
The latest victory had something of a hollow ring to it but that’s not Celestial Halo’s fault. Making all, which he sometimes does, he jumped easily the best of the quartet who consented to race and had the disappointing pair Medinas and Reve de Sivola put to bed a long way out.
Only the unexposed odds-on shot At Fishers Cross, one of last season’s top staying novices, posed any sort of threat to the winner but he lost all chance when screwing mid-air on jumping two out and stumbling badly on landing.
Truth be told, At Fishers Cross hadn’t jumped fluently throughout, a trait which was often evident last season, though he was only just behind Celestial Halo when the incident happened. It’s not easy to be sure what would have been the outcome had the mishap not occurred, and for now I have taken the view that there would have been very little between them.
Race standards suggest somewhere in the region of the mid 160s for the winner so Celestial Halo is now up 4lb to 165, a mark he won a handicap off back in 2009, and the same as Solwhit. At Fishers Cross was in receipt of 4lb on Saturday so his mark is also up 4lb to 161 with the promise of more to come, especially if his jumping becomes more fluent.
Tent pitched at the top
On a week which saw a number of decent winners in the 2m novice division, most notably the smart Flat performer Mijhaar, who raised the pulse with a fine display on his Friday Doncaster debut, the week’s spotlight undoubtedly fell on a fascinating Stanjames.com Fighting Fifth Hurdle on Saturday’s Newcastle card, writes Dave Dickinson.
In justifying odds-on favouritism the imposing My Tent Or Yours didn’t have to quite reproduce his current handicap mark of 160, but his smooth display showed that he has summered well and he is likely to take high rank through the winter.
The race itself actually proved quite straightforward to rate with the 151-rated Grumeti finishing a length in front of Cotton Mill, who appears to have returned to his best mark of 150 in headgear for the first time.
The disappointment was the second-favourite Melodic Rendezvous, who shaped as if things were happening just a little too quickly for him. The form of his win in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton three weeks ago had taken a knock the previous weekend when Far West ran poorly at Haydock and off the back of this run I have dropped the Wincanton race, meaning Jeremy Scott’s gelding now has a rating of 152.
Credit should go to four Northern yards for supporting such a big conditions race and giving punters an eight-runner field. John Quinn’s filly Cockney Sparrow, coming second continues to progress and got herself some Grade 1 black type and a new rating of 147. On the maths it can be argued that Stormy Weather and Rock Relief ran better than their current ratings but both remain unchanged and I have dropped Duke of Navan 3lb to 145.
Tat’s the way to do it
Following a losing run of almost two years Tatenen returned to form with a bang in the Bet365 Handicap Chase at Newbury, writes Graeme Smith.
The Stewart Family’s nine-year-old had been sent off favourite for the Arkle and finished second in the Grade 1 Maghull in his novice chasing days when with Paul Nicholls, but he’d really struggled for form in 2012/13 and was taking advantage of a mark some 19lb lower than he’d started that campaign from on Saturday.
Conditions at Newbury made for a fair test but this was one of several handicaps on the card where the field didn’t really string out and I’ve rated Tatenen for value more than the bare eight-length margin over Carrigmorna King having been impressed with just how quickly he powered away after being produced two from home – he was still only three lengths clear at the last.
A new mark of 140 represents a 12lb rise and his trainer Richard Rowe nominated a return visit to Ascot in January as his target for a race he won in both 2011 and 2012, from marks of 137 and 143 respectively.
Carrigmorna King also came in for a rise following his fine effort in second place. A winner over hurdles on his previous start, Philip Hobbs’ seven-year-old is relatively unexposed at 2m6f and beyond and I’m sure there’ll be people out there who expect further improvement from him if he can brush up on his jumping. ===============================================================

13:00 Wednesday 4th December Racing Tips - 04/12/2013
A good novice handicap chase at Ludlow this afternoon sees King Massini back at the track he was successful at last time. 3 miles that day saw him to good effect but that is the only trip he has won at and I want to oppose under a 7lb penalty, even with Conor Ring effectively taking it off. The 2 that look most dangerous are chase debutants Spoil Me and Bobcatbilly. Ian Williams' 7 year old showed some solid form over hurdles, the best of it when 3rd at Fakenham over 3 miles and it looked too far that day. This is a more realistic trip, having contested 2 miles 1 on heavy ground last time out and he is bred to be a capable chaser. 7lb lower than his highest hurdles mark is feasible but I'm not keen on 3/1. I fancy Spoil Me should be closer to those at the top of the market than 10/1. The yard is in super form without having sent out a winner in the last few days but plenty of places at decent prices. His only win came in a jumper's bumper but he was staying on over 2 miles last time out and is of a fair mark for chase debut. His 5 and a half length defeat by Dormouse puts him right up there for this and any overnight rain will be very welcome. Ludlow 13.10 - Spoil Me 1pt e/w
The staying contest at Ludlow should turn into a real test given the amount of prominent racers on show. That has to be a worry for Charingworth and Cootehill but will be no such trouble for One In A Milan. 3rd in the Midlands Grand National, he will want every bit of this but his concern is dry ground as he appears to prefer some cut, preferable plenty. The unknown quantities are Talkonthstreet, who is well treated on last season's performances but was way below his best last time, and recent French import Union Jack d'Ycy, who could be anything. Preference is for an improver that we know something about in the shape of Faultless Feelings at 5/1. The yard is going well and this 7 year old was very impressive in an all the way win on penultimate start in a decent time. He was staying on last time out over a furlong shorter at Cheltenham in impressive company (very good time) and should be able to go close here off a mark of 127. The 2nd at Uttoxeter (penultimate start) went on to run well in this class next time and Ian Popham's mount may just be ahead of the handicapper. A solid stayer, he will also appreciate a likely battle up front. Ludlow 14.10 - Faultless Feelings 1pt win
An intriguing little Conditions Stakes at Lingfield sees Bancnuanaheireann attempt to build on an impressive 2nd behind Prince Alzain last time over course and distance in Listed company. He deserves to be favourite and I'm a big fan of his. He should confirm the form with Uramazin (who also ran a brilliant race last time) given that he had to travel further than the rest all the way on the wide outside. However, beware the green machine out in front that is Marshgate Lane for Mark Johnston. With no other confirmed front runner (I'm not sure that Freewheel will be up there on first start for Dandy Nicholls), this 4 year old could have the run of things and have the tactical speed to win at 3/1. He also ran over course and distance last time out and there was very little between the times, even allowing for the ground lost by the favourite. I fancy Tom Queally's mount is the better horse off level weights, but the better horse doesn't always win (and his name is so hard to spell I don't want to write it again). Lingfield 13.30 - Marshgate Lane 1pt win
The feature handicap at Lingfield takes place over the shortest distance and 6 year old Picansort looks worth a chance at 11/1 in his toughest task to date. He is dramatically up in class but brings with him a course and distance record that reads 224311211. He was successful the first time a visor was fitted and was a 14/1 winner here last time with it back on after a successful spell with blinkers. Either way, headgear is a must, as is a strong pace, and that seems likely with the presence of Tangerine Trees, Even Stevens and Addictive Dream. His 2 recent winning times here have been impressive and so the step up in class is not as much of a worry as at first it seemed, especially given he is carrying little weight. Yes he is up against better opposition but his best form puts him right up there, though i'm not sure hell be able to post a time faster than standard. The other to support looks to be Ubetterbegood, mainly because I followed him off a cliff in the summer and will cry if he wins. He was gelded before his last effort at Kempton and that was an unlucky, though greatly improved effort. Lingfield 13:00 - Picansort 1pt e/w

Gerard Butler's response to the news he has been disqualified from racing for five years is expected to be revealed on Thursday. Gerard Butler: Five-year ban The Newmarket trainer attended a disciplinary panel of the British Horseracing Authority last month, and they have announced Butler admitted to all seven charges against him relating to samples of an anabolic steroid found in horses in his care. His solicitor, Richard Brooks of Withy King, said on Wednesday evening: "We will be releasing a statement tomorrow." The BHA accused Butler of an "appalling" dereliction of his duties and nine of his horses produced positive samples, five cases of which were identified as the joint treatment Sungate, which contains the banned anabolic steroid stanozolol. However, considered even more serious was Butler's admission of administering another substance, Rexogin, to four horses himself. Rexogin is designed for use in humans, often for bodybuilding, and contains 10 times as much stanozolol as Sungate. Adam Brickell, director of integrity, legal and risk for the BHA, said: "BHA's position, which was upheld by the disciplinary panel, was that the most serious charges related to Gerard Butler's gross failure to look after the best interests of four horses in his care, which amounted to conduct that was seriously prejudicial to the integrity, proper conduct and good reputation of the sport. "The gravity of the breaches of the rules of racing escalated when, in the course of cross-examination during the disciplinary panel hearing, Gerard Butler finally provided evidence as to where he had purchased the drug in question from, and admitted that the product he had administered himself to four horses was not the equine veterinary product Sungate, but instead an unlicensed stanozolol-based product called Rexogin, manufactured for use in humans. "Furthermore the panel accepted that Butler had administered this product by intra-articular injection using a method restricted by law to qualified veterinary surgeons. "The panel also pointed to the fact that Butler took no veterinary advice before carrying out these procedures, did not have the horses properly assessed prior to their treatment, made no recording in his medication records of having injected the horses and that he subsequently allowed the horses to be treated by veterinary surgeons without informing them of the prior administrations. "Furthermore they noted that it is not appropriate for a trainer to say he is able to undertake an invasive veterinary procedure on the basis that he had seen veterinary surgeons performing the procedure, that he created unnecessary risks for the horses in obtaining the drug from an unlicensed source and that his behaviour in administering the injections was consistent with the underhand and covert manner in which he purchased the drug. "Taking this all into account the panel summarised that the actions of Butler represented 'an appalling breach of his duty to look after the interests of the horses in his care and amounted to conduct that was seriously prejudicial to the integrity, proper conduct and good reputation of horseracing in Great Britain'." Brickell went on: "The charges also related to five other positive samples taken from horses which were administered Sungate on the advice of and by a veterinary surgeon. "The rules are clear that the licence holder, in this case Gerard Butler, is wholly responsible for the presence of prohibited substances in horses in his care and control. "However, it remains of concern to BHA that a practising vet regularly treating racehorses, and therefore presumably familiar with the rules, should have recommended and administered such a product to a horse in a trainer's care or control. "This is an area we are continuing to explore and consult on with a view to strengthening our position. If the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons chooses to follow up on this specific matter we would assist as required, as we have done on previous occasions." Butler also admitted to failing to keep a record of treatments. His ban begins on Thursday and he will be suspended until December 4, 2018 inclusive. He has a period of 48 hours to arrange the relocation of his horses.

Trainer Matt Sheppard is looking forward to seeing stable star Ikorodu Road tackle the fearsome Grand National fences for the first time in the Betfred Becher Chase at Aintree on Saturday. Ikorodu Road: Grand National aim The four-times winner has been a superb servant to his connections down the years and appeared as good as ever when making a victorious return to action at Stratford at the end of October. Sheppard is not sure his charge is particularly well handicapped at the age of 10, but hopes Aintree will bring out the best in him, with a Grand National tilt on the agenda if he does take to the giant obstacles this weekend. "He'll almost certainly be going to Aintree and it looks as though he's going to get his favoured good ground," said the trainer. "The National is the aim, so we'll see how he gets on around there on Saturday."

Champion Court could try to get his season back on track in the Betfred Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon on Thursday week. Champion Court: Peterborough target Martin Keighley's stable star was a strongly-supported favourite for the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham last month, but finished only seventh. Keighley feels the eight-year-old may have been suffering from colic and is expecting a more positive showing on his next start, with the Stewart Family Thank You Gold Cup at Cheltenham a possible alternative to Huntingdon's feature two days earlier. "Champion Court is a possible for Cheltenham, but I would say he is more likely to go to Huntingdon for the Peterborough Chase," said the trainer. "All the tests we did after the Paddy Power Gold Cup have come back fine, but he was definitely uncomfortable after the race so it could have been down to a touch of colic." Keighley remains keen on a tilt at the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day, a race in which Champion Court turned in an excellent performance to finish fourth last year. He said: "He is back in good form now and we are still thinking about the King George, but we will learn a lot more next time and hopefully he can bounce back."

14:40 Thursday 5th December Racing Tips - 05/12/2013
Havingotascoobydo has dropped to an interesting mark and runs over 3 miles plus for the first time in his career today. It's not guaranteed to suit but he has been looking outpaced over shorter of late and is certainly capable of a win off 123 if it works. The one to side with, however, could be Allthekingshorses at 7/2 for a yard in great form. He will stay and has won on good ground before so conditions should suit perfectly. We haven't seen him since he fell almost a year ago at Newbury in a race where the form looks pretty solid and the ground may have been on the soft side for him that day too. He still has plenty of scope for improvement over fences on only his 4th start in this sphere and is 1lb lower than for his last win over hurdles at Doncaster. Wincanton 14.10 - Allthekingshorses 1pt win
The following race again sees the top weight at the head of the market and Roman Flight is very tempting after his impressive reappearance at Kempton on debut for David Pipe. Still only a 5 year old, there should be more to come and conditions will suit. Keiron Edgar is also one of the best claimers to have on side. The one I want to side with is Jumps Road at 11/2 who is only 2lb higher than for his last hurdles win, which came here over course and distance. In fact, both his last wins have been here and a 100% course and distance record is a big plus. The ground may not be such a positive but that last success was on good to soft and he has only 1 career start to his name on officially good ground. Yet to fire this term, this is a significant drop in class, especially from Ascot on penultimate start, and I'd be surprised if he isn't in the mix come the finish. Wincanton 14.40 - Jumps Road 1pt e/w ======================================================

TIMMY MURPHY was suspended for nine days for violent and improper conduct in the changing room at Newbury on Friday following two separate clashes with fellow jockey Dominic Elsworth.
The two riders appeared at a reconvened inquiry at Wincanton on Thursday which was conducted by Paul Barton, the BHA's senior stipendiary steward.
Barton said: "Two incidents happened in the weighing room and Timmy Murphy confirmed today that both were instigated by him. During the second incident, he sustained an injury to a shoulder which came about as the two riders were being separated. Timmy Murphy has admitted the incidents and he has apologised to Dominic Elsworth."
There had been a skirmish between the two in the previous race at Newbury, but after watching a replay of the race on Thursday, the stewards ruled that no riding offence had been committed.
Barton, asked if blows had been exchanged in the changing room, said on Thursday: "I don't know, I wasn't in there but clearly there were two incidents which involved contract between them. The second incident wasn't long after the first one. The two were on good terms today and there was no atmosphere during the inquiry."
The officials found that Murphy was instigator and main protagonist in the fight. Elsworth was found not to be in breach of the rules.
Murphy's ban runs from December 19-22 and December 26-30. He is currently sidelined with the shoulder injury.
The ban means Murphy will miss the King George meeting at Kempton, the Welsh National meeting at Chepstow and the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown, in which he would have partnered Hennessy runner-up Rocky Creek.

Owner Stephen Arnold has been disqualified for three months after admitting to breaching the rules in relation to laying 10 of his horses, the British Horseracing Authority has said. Arnold, whose horses run under the moniker of Rakebackmypoker.com, was called before a disciplinary panel of the BHA charged with 10 counts of laying his horses to lose, involving races between June 2012 and March this year. The panel considered whether Arnold acted in breach of Rule (E) 92.2 in that he placed lay bets and/or instructed another person to do so on his behalf and/or received the whole or part of the proceeds of such an act at a time when he was the owner of the horses in question. A tweet from the BHA read: "Registered owner Stephen Arnold has been disqualified for three months after admitting to breaches of Rule (E) 92.2 on 10 counts. "The disqualification begins as of tomorrow. The disciplinary panel's reasons will follow in due course." Speaking to At The Races last month, Arnold insisted he had not been aiming to profit from horses getting beat, saying: "If I go by their idea of laying then I'm guilty, obviously. "But at no stage was I aiming to profit from any horse getting beat, all I was trying to do was prevent horses crashing for £4 or £5 on a morning on Betfair until we could get a reasonable bet on a horse with bookmakers." Arnold, who has recently moved 21 of his horses to the Southwell yard of Ann Stokell, later wrote on his Twitter page: "Huge thanks for all the support I have been shown in very difficult times disappointing to get a ban, but at least I can lease the horses to stay in the yard with Ann Stokell and no staff will lose their jobs so I am happy about that as that was a big worry for me."

Timmy Murphy has been suspended for nine days following his altercation with fellow jockey Dominic Elsworth at Newbury last week. Timmy Murphy: Banned Murphy left the track with a dislocated shoulder on Friday and it was later discovered he had been involved in a scuffle in the weighing room. Grand National winner Murphy had to give up the ride on Our Father in Saturday's Hennessy Gold Cup and both jockeys were asked to attend an inquiry at Wincanton on Thursday. Stewards interviewed Murphy, Elsworth, Professional Jockeys' Association chief executive Paul Struthers and valet Chris Maude and found that Murphy was the instigator and main protagonist in the altercation. The stewards also found Murphy had suffered a dislocation of his shoulder as a result of having to be restrained by Maude. Murphy will miss the key action over the Christmas period, having been suspended December 19-22 and 26-30. Stipendiary steward Paul Barton said: "On the Friday evening we knew Timmy Murphy had to go to hospital but we didn't know why, although overnight it clearly became obvious something had happened. "We opened an inquiry into the alleged incident, and spoke to Paul Struthers, Chris Maude the valet and Dominic Elsworth to get their version of events. Timmy Murphy wasn't there and the earliest we could hold the inquiry was today. "Timmy Murphy has confirmed there were two incididents in the changing room, both of which were instigated by him. He admitted instigating them, and apologised to Dominic Elsworth. "The second incident happened probably not long after the first one, and Timmy Murphy's shoulder was injured when he was restrained by the valet. "In the rules, the penalties can range from one to 21 days, with an entry point of four. There were two incidents, and it has been aggregated up. It could have been far higher but he is mitigated slightly as he did admit it, and apologised as soon as he could." Timmy Murphy: Banned Murphy left the track with a dislocated shoulder on Friday and it was later discovered he had been involved in a scuffle in the weighing room. It could have been far higher but he is mitigated slightly as he did admit it, and apologised as soon as he could."

Paul Nicholls is keeping his fingers crossed conditions at Sandown do not deteriorate ahead of Saint Roque's bid for a fifth consecutive victory in Friday's Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle. Saint Roque: Set for Sandown More racing news The seven-year-old has risen 30lb in the weights with victories at Fontwell, Worcester, Newton Abbot and Cheltenham and now steps up to Grade Two level for a race better known as the Winter Novices' Hurdle. Nicholls said: "He's obviously on a good run and is improving all the time. He needs good ground. I haven't run him since he won at Cheltenham in October because he is at his best when racing fresh. "He has won four races now, so is not that easy to place. He is very well and I am looking forward to running him again. "I just hope they don't get any rain overnight. I don't think they will, but good to soft ground is as soft as he'd want it." Saint Roque features in a six-runner field, with Nicholls' great rival Nicky Henderson saddling last month's runaway Ascot scorer Beat That. Jonjo O'Neill's Oscar Fortune is on a hat-trick following victories at Huntingdon and Carlisle, while the Charlie Longsdon-trained Killala Quay has also won twice over timber, but was well held at Cheltenham last time. Likely outsiders Back In June and House Party complete the sextet.

Wincanton, 5 December 2013
The Stewards held an enquiry adjourned from Newbury on 30 November 2013 following reports of an altercation in the changing room between jockeys Timmy Murphy and Dominic Elsworth. They interviewed Murphy, Elsworth, the Chief Executive of the Professional Jockeys’ Association and a valet. Having heard their evidence the Stewards found that Murphy was the instigator and the main protagonist in the altercation and that Murphy had suffered a dislocation of his shoulder as a result of having to be restrained by the valet. They found Murphy in breach of Rule (A)32.1 and suspended him for 9 days as follows: Thursday 19, Friday 20, Saturday 21, Sunday 22, Thursday 26, Friday 27, Saturday 28, Sunday 29 and Monday 30 December 2013.
1.10, second race
The Stewards noted that the winner MAYFAIR MUSIC (IRE), had interfered with SWINCOMB SILVALADY, unplaced, who in turn interfered with BIILIDN, placed third, who in turn interfered with SUMMERTIME LADY, unplaced, on the bend turning out of the back straight, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved MAYFAIR MUSIC (IRE)s placing.
1.40, third race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Daryl Jacob, the rider of LUMPY’S GOLD, placed second, from the second last flight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Jacob for 2 days as follows: Thursday 19 and Friday 20 December 2013.
3.10, sixth race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, BINCOMBE, ridden by James Best, and trained by Philip Hobbs, compared with its previous run at Stratford on 26 October 2013, where the gelding was pulled up. They noted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that BINCOMBE appeared better suited by the shorter trip and faster ground. They ordered BINCOMBE to be routine tested.

Market Rasen, 5 December 2013
The Stewards held an enquiry following an inspection which was held as a result of concern over the gusty wind conditions. They interviewed the riders A P McCoy, Jason Maguire, Brian Harding and Brian Hughes; trainers David Thompson, Alex Hales and Jamie Snowden; the Course Inspector, the Clerk of the Course and the Racecourse General Manager. Having considered their evidence the Stewards were satisfied that racing could continue.
1.50, fourth race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, ACRAI RUA (IRE), ridden by Brian Hughes and trained by Tim Fitzgerald, compared with its previous run at Wetherby on 1 November 2013 where the gelding finished sixth of six, beaten by approximately 67 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that ACRAI RUA (IRE) possibly needed his run at Wetherby, which followed a break. He added that the gelding was suited by a step up in trip and the re-application of sheepskin cheekpieces. They ordered ACRAI RUA (IRE) to be routine tested.

1.30, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of LASTCHANCEFORLISA (IRE), ridden by Adam Wedge, on the bend approaching the back straight. They interviewed the rider. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved, the Stewards took no further action.

Wolverhampton, 5 December 2013
3.50, first race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Samantha Bell, the rider of IT’S MY TIME, placed third, in the final furlong. Having heard her evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found her in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that she used her whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Bell for 2 days as follows: Thursday 19 and Friday 20 December 2013.
4.50, third race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Tom Eaves, the rider of BOOGANGOO (IRE), unplaced, had appeared to ease his mount shortly before the winning post when in fourth place. They received a report from the Veterinary Officer. Having heard his evidence, and having viewed the recordings of the race, they noted his explanation that he was concerned for the horse’s welfare having felt it had lost its action, which he had reported at Scales.
5.20, fourth race
The Stewards noted that FEMALE STRATEGY (IRE), placed third, had interfered with GOLDEN STEPS (FR), placed second, who in turn interfered with BELLE PEINTURE (FR), unplaced, approximately two and a half furlongs out, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
5.50, fifth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference at the furlong marker. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that LITTLE BIG MAN, placed third, ridden by Josh Baudains, had interfered with THATABOY, placed second, ridden by Richard Kingscote. They found the interference was accidental.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Graham Gibbons, the rider of SHAMARDYH (IRE), at the furlong marker. They interviewed Paddy Aspell, the rider of BLACK VALE (IRE), and Richard Kingscote, the rider of THATABOY (IRE). Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the incident, the Stewards found that the fall was caused by SHAMARDYH (IRE) clipping the heels of THATABOY (IRE). Being satisfied that the incident was accidental, the Stewards took no further action.
6.20, sixth race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, ROYAL BAJAN (USA), ridden by Tom Queally and trained by James Given, compared with its previous run at Lingfield on 23 November where the gelding finished last of ten beaten 5¾ lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding is inconsistent and may have benefited from the application of a visor for the first time. They ordered ROYAL BAJAN (USA) to be routine tested.
6.50, seventh race
The Starter reported that MARMOT BAY (IRE), trained by Philip Kirby, was unruly in the stalls and withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
The Stewards noted that CASHEL’S MISSILE (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with SIR GEOFFREY (IRE), placed second, who in turn interfered with LUCKY MARK (IRE), unplaced, approximately three furlongs out, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
