STAT WATCH.
Melodic Rendevous' preferred conditions pro- vided us with another winning trend, when he obliged at 9/2 in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton. We hope for more success over Jumps this Sat- urday, with Channel 4 set to cover action from the meetings at Cheltenham (1.50, 2.30, 3.00 and 3.35) and Wetherby (2.05 and 2.40.) It will be interesting to have a Northern meeting to focus on this Saturday, at a time when the strings of the region's leading Jumps trainers, Donald McCain and Lucinda Russell, are really beginning to fire on all cylinders. McCain saddled more winners than any other UK trainer in the week to Monday, 11 November, with 8 winners from 16 runners also providing a fantastic 50% strike rate. Russell's Scottish yard enjoyed 6 win- ners and a 22% strike rate, and a special mention should go out for new trainer Dan Skelton, whose yard is finding form in its first season, with 4 win- ners in the past week and a strike rate of 36%. Given McCain's form, it's hardly a revelation to find that his stable jockey Jason Maguire has been the main beneficiary, becoming the most winning Jump jockey in the same period, with 8 wins and a 42% strike rate, ahead of Noel Fe- hily and Richard Johnson, who tied on 5 win- ners and strike rates of around 23%. McCain and Maguire were the leading trainer/jockey partnership for the week, with 7 wins and a 63% strike rate. The first of the televised races at Cheltenham is the Grade 3 handicap chase over 3m 3f. As an each-way possibility, trainer Feargal O'Brien's Bradley looks interesting, off a 2lb lower mark than when he finished a staying-on fifth over 3m 1f at this course on his seasonal debut last month. O'Brien also has a 36% strike rate with his runners in the past 14 days. Henry Daly also has his horses in good order (50% winning their races in the past fortnight) and his Bet365 Chase winner Quentin Collonges could return to action in this race, who has also won on the expected good-soft ground. The feature race of the day is the Paddy Power Gold Cup, over 2m 5f, which often marks the seasonal debut of Gold Cup hopefuls. In terms of those with course form, Martin Keighley's (20% strike rate last 14 days) Champion Court looks interesting, as does the slightly higher profile course and distance winner, Dynaste (40% over distance). A less exposed potential improver could be Jonjo O'Neill's Johns Spirit, who has winning form over distance, on the ground and at this course, and may be up to defying his rise in the ratings from his seasonal debut win at this course last month. So on to Wetherby, where the first televised race is an interesting 3m 1f handicap chase. Donald McCain's team have been in awesome form in the past week and his entrant in this race, Grouse Lodge, has the potential to go well in this race on the best of his form in novice chases last season. The stable has won this race twice in the last five years, and has the leading record at the course in the past five seasons by wins and also has an excellent 21% course strike rate. As an alternative who may go well at a price, Denali Highway progressed markedly over fences towards the end of last season after switching to handicaps and may have more to offer. His trainer Caroline Bailey has an excellent long-term record at Wetherby (29%, £32 per £1 level stake profit.) ===========================================================
NOTEBOOK.
At Hexham, Lucinda Russell's Kilbree Chief confirmed his ability with a solid winning performance in the 2m 4½f novices' hurdle. Finishing just over a length behind Kilbree Chief was ROMANY RYME , who remains a maiden after five starts over hurdles, but im- proved enough on this latest outing to sug- gest that he can break his duck before too long. The conclusion is that he possibly needed the run on his seasonal debut the time before, and given that he was keeping on well at the end, he may also improve for a step up in trip at some point. MASTERLEADERMAN showed some prom- ise on his hurdling, seasonal and stable debut for trainer Michael Smith in the 3m ½f maiden hurdle at Musselburgh. By Beneficial and out of a Supreme Leader mare, he was always going to need a trip this early in his career and already had placed form in 3m Point-to-Points in his native Ireland last sea- son. On this latest start, his first in more than a year, he chased the pace and was just be- ginning to struggle to hold onto them as he hit the third-last. For all that, he held on to finish third of six runners, a long way clear of the fourth, and will surely improve for the run. He looks a chaser-in-the-making, but can at least win at this level over hurdles in the meantime. A few days later, at Carlisle's Monday after- noon meeting, Donald McCain's GREENSALT looked one to note when finishing a fair run- ner-up in the 2m 1f novices' hurdle on his hurdling debut, behind the well-regarded and odds-on favourite, MILO MAN . Greensalt showed promise in all three of his bumper starts last season and finished sec- ond or third on each occasion. Unlike his tal- ented full-brother Raya Star, who has shown good form in 2m hurdles, Greensalt looks one who will come into his own when his reserves of stamina are called upon. The ground was very testing at Carlisle, and the racecourse has a long uphill finish, so it would be no sur- prise if Greensalt runs over further than 2m in the future, with the knowledge that he also handles better (good) ground from his runs in bumpers last season. His jumping was pretty novicey and he can build on this first run of the campaign with the experience under his belt. Trainer Evan Williams has long liked Milo Man, who won a Taunton bumper on his debut before being tried in the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at the end of last season. Although he only finished in the second-half of the field on that outing, his promise re- mains undimmed given the way he won at Carlisle. Jockey Paul Moloney dictated the race of the pace at a fairly sedate gallop and then demonstrated Milo Man's impressive turn of pace from the home turn, leaving his rivals toiling in his wake. He tired a little late on, suggesting that he will improve for the outing and he's probably better than the eventual five-length winning margin to Greensalt. He should add further novice hur- dles to his tally this season. =====================================================
Race Ratings 3.35 Cheltenham - Saturday, 16 November 2013.
11/2-1 Ballyalton 41 6 Ian Williams Undefeated in two bumper starts season before last, and slightly disappointing when runner-up and odds on favourite on hurdling debut on sole start last term. Atoned for that with wide-margin win on seasonal debut last time, but step up in trip today is a possible concern. RATING 95 F22-12 Creepy 28 5 Martin Keighley A son of Westerner who only got off the mark in a Chepstow maiden hurdle on his seasonal debut two runs ago, but is obviously held in regard, hav- ing been tried in Grade 2 novice hurdles last sea- son. Today's trip should suit and best form gives him an each-way squeak. RATING 96 22-212 Deep Trouble 23 6 Ben Case A consistent sort who won on his final outing be- fore the summer break, and showed promise last time, on his return to action. While his jumping wasn't perfect, he could improve but faces a much stiffer task at this grade. RATING 91 175-11 Drop Out Joe 36 5 Charlie Longsdon Won both starts over timber to date and appar- ently acts on both decent and testing going. Im- proved between first and second starts over timber, and no reason why he shouldn't come on again in this race. Stable has been in good form of late. RATING 96 1121F Indevan 13 5 W P Mullins From major Irish stable and has already won a Grade 3, so probably has the best form of all these to date. Fall last time tempers confidence, but assuming he's none the worse, should go close. RATING 99 15-11 Killala Quay 35 6 Charlie Longsdon Won three of his four career starts to date, includ- ing both of his hurdles outings so far, by good mar- gins, and no surprise to see him step up again today. That being the case, should be there- abouts. RATING 98 238-1 Lac Fontana 29 4 Paul Nicholls Third in the Grade 2 Dovecote Hurdle last season, on second run for stable and over hurdles. Ran re- spectably if held in the Triumph Hurdle, but won nicely last time on seasonal debut. Well regarded but still has a bit to find with likely main players in this race. RATING 97 141-11 Oscar Fortune 13 5 Jonjo O ́Neill Undefeated in two starts over hurdles this season, improving with each run. Stable in great form this autumn and further improvement cannot be ruled out. RATING 98 36P1P2 Paudi The Punter 20 7 G T Lynch Irish raider who has made steady improvement since switching to current stable in April. Still has a lot to find today, though, and any rain could be difficult as best form tends to have been achieved on good or quicker ground. RATING 92 11- Port Melon 203 P 5 Paul Nicholls Unraced son of Presenting who was sold at Tatter- salls Ireland for €140,000 two years ago. From a family with hurdling and chasing form between 2m 4f and 3m, and stable knows time of day in these races. Watch market for guide to his chance. RATING 95 1465-4 Pure Science 29 5 Nigel Twiston-Davies Sixth in Grade 1 Champion Bumper at Cheltenham Festival last season confirmed potential, but jump- ing left a bit to be desired on his hurdling and sea- sonal debut at this course last time. Could improve, though, and connections respected. RATING 94 2151 Rally 15 4 Nicky Henderson Looked in need of run when fifth on hurdling and stable debut two starts ago, but left that behind with a solid winning performance at Wetherby last time. Looked a bit green, even in victory, so could be more to come assuming he learned from the experience, and stable's in good form at moment. Could go well at a price. RATING 95 32-112 Silver Eagle 28 5 Kim Bailey An improving sort, who ran a cracker on seasonal debut over course and distance when runner-up to he well-regarded Thomas Crapper in a handicap hur- dle, off a career-high official rating. One of the likelier sorts on that form and back in novice company, and could be on the premises at a nice price. RATING 98 357-11Toubeera 182 7 Venetia Williams Stable currently in great form and has won over distance on last two starts, prior to a summer break. Margin of victory over decent yardstick Letsby Avenue on latest start gives her a good shout relative to Silver Eagle, so could be a threat. RATING 97 3OF-1L Toughness Danon 18F 7 Ian Williams Surely stable's second string, after Ballyalton, as form looks patchy, despite maiden hurdle win over distance two months ago. RATING 91 1422-1 Warden Hill 27 5 Mick Channon Stayed on nicely over distance on seasonal debut last time to suggest that he will stay up the fearsome hill at Cheltenham. Has ability, but form still falls some way short of the best he could face here. RATING 93 213-11 Timesremembered 21 5 Emma Lavelle Impressive winner of the Grade 2 Persian War Novices' Hurdle at Chepstow, last time, on second start over hurdles. Stable has been re- juvenated this season and there could be more to come. RATING 100 ============================================
RACING NEWS.
Dandino finished fifth in the Melbourne Cup at Flemington last week, but his owners were quick to quell controversy after initial reports suggested they had been critical of Ryan Moore's ride aboard Dandino. Darren Dance, syndicate manager for Dandino's owners, Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, reportedly said Moore's ride was "disappointing,” in the aftermath of the race, but has subsequently denied reports in the Australian press that Moore will not ride Dandino in December's Hong Kong Vase. No decision has been made who will ride Dandino in Hong Kong, but, according to connections, Moore is the likely choice to ride Dandino in Europe, and possibly Dubai, next year. On the back of impressively winning a Listed hurdle at Kempton last month, Champion Hurdle favourite The New One has been delighting trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies at home, who reports that the five-year-old will head to Cheltenham next month for the International Hurdle, and then the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton. Trainer Paul Nicholls reports that his stable's main chasing hopes Silviniaco Conti and Al Ferof are ready to make their seasonal debuts. Silviniaco Conti will head to Haydock this month for the Betfair Chase, which he won last season, while Al Ferof, who won last season's Paddy Power Gold Cup before an injury curtailed his campaign the following month, will go to Ascot for the Amlin 1965 Chase, before possibly run- ning in the King George VI Chase at Kempton's Boxing Day meeting. Irish chasing star Flemenstar made a winning sea- sonal and stable debut for trainer Tony Martin last weekend, when victorious in the Grade 2 Fortria Chase at Navan. A lung infection denied Flemenstar a crack at the Cheltenham Gold Cup last season, but connections are aiming for that race again this term, and Martin was satisfied with the eight-year- old's performance at Navan, saying that he will come on for the race. Flemenstar is currently avail- able at 20/1 with some bookmakers for the Cheltenham Gold Cup and 7/1 for the Ryanair Chase, also at the Cheltenham Festival, over 2m 5f

13:50 Saturday 16th November Racing Tips - 16/11/2013
Cheltenham steels the show today and it may be worth siding with Spring Heeled in the Murphy Group Handicp Chase. It's a step up on what he has achieved so far but, as with the Paddy Power Power Gold Cup, you need a horse that is a good 10lb well in to take this. That doesn't aways mean a younger horse but the last 5 winners have all been second season chasers and Jim Culloty's 6 year old has plenty of scope for improvement. He wants good ground and has looked an improved chaser this term, though does need to sort out some jumping issues. He looked as though he wants further when finishing strongly over 3 miles last time and he's a touch bigger than I thought he'd be at 8/1. Bradley has every chance off 1lb lower than last year (he's 4lb out of the weights today) and watch out for Burton Port if he regains that form of old, though it looks unlikely. Cheltenham 13.50 - Spring Heeled 1pt e/w
The 2 I like for the big race are both owned by JP McManus. Colour Squadron is yet to achieve his potential but he travelled so well last time over course and distance that you have to think there is more to come on better ground. He is 15lb better off with Rajdhani Express (and it really is a close call between the 2) but they are priced up similarly around 12/1 and Philip Hobbs' charge has the right profile for this. His 2nd to the progressive Dedigout last year in a Grade 1 hurdle shows his potential and he may just need better ground, given that he has travelled well on 2 starts on today's surface but fallen both times. Nadiya De La Vega is not an obvious one to say is well in but she has dropped 5lb in the handicap. She started her chasing career 3 years ago but is still only a 7 year old and, 5lb lower than when 3rd in this last year, will appreciate better ground than 12 months ago. She wins first time out for fun and I'm convinced she can compete off a mark of 150 this term in what should be her peak season. 12/1 is a fair representation of her chances against the unexposed types like John's Spirit and Ballynagour but her trainer hasn't won this for some 10 years and sends out 3 today, all with good chances. McCoy is on Tap Night but I fancy he'd have chosen this mare or Colour Squadron had he been able to do the weight. Andrew Tinkler has won on this mare before and she'll be primed first up. Cheltenham 14.30 - Nadiya De La Vega 1pt e/w Cheltenham 14.30 - Colour Squadron 1pt e/w
Those at the top of the market make plenty of appeal for the following handicap hurdle and at this stage of the season it can pay to go with a younger, unexposed runner, especially on today's good ground. The 2 I want to back are 5 year olds Southfield Theatre and Silver Eagle, both at around 8/1. The former was a touch disappointing on debut behind Taquin Du Seuil when being niggled throughout. He did stay on encouragingly though and is unbeaten in 3 starts since the spring. He does, however, have some weight to carry and Kim Bailey's 5 year old looks the better bet. His trainer sees him as needing at least 3 miles and he did very well to finish 2nd behind Thomas Crapper, who won again yesterday, last time over 2 miles 5 furlongs when they went a real crawl. Ground is fine and this trip should see the very best of him off a mark only 4lb higher than for that Cheltenham run a month ago. Cheltenham 15.00 - Silver Eagle 1pt e/w

Paying 5 places in the 2.30 at Cheltenham today!
The Paddy Power Gold Cup is the highlight of Saturday's card and it looks a tremendous renewal. The race looks wide open, with Champion Court who has been well backed and John's Spirit heading the market.
In such a competitive looking race, Sky Bet are paying 5 places and with so many runners having an excellent each way chance this looks a cracking betting event.

Hurricane Fly sets out on the path to what could be another stellar year when he heads a field of five runners in the StanJames.com Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown on Sunday - although Jezki has not been declared Hurricane Fly: Heads the field The two-mile king recorded his second Champion Hurdle victory when regaining his crown at Cheltenham in March and he goes into this weekend's Grade One event, which he bids to win for the second time, apparently "stronger than ever", according to trainer Willie Mullins. However, his task has been eased after connections of Jezki decided to skip the contest and wait for the Bar One Racing Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse on December 1. His trainer Jessica Harrington said: "Everything is fine with him. We've just decided to wait until the Hatton's Grace and step him up in trip." Hurricane Fly heads four runners from the Mullins yard, with Marito, Midnight Game and Mikael D'Haguenet also taking their chances. Mullins said of his dual champion: "We had a fantastic summer which meant fantastic grass, so Hurricane Fly has come back stronger than ever this year, which is extraordinary. Hopefully those looks will carry through to performance. "I'm very pleased with him, he worked very well on Tuesday. We schooled him on Wednesday, he jumped very well so I'm very pleased going towards Sunday. Hurricane Fly will again be partnered by Ruby Walsh, who seeks a 13th success on the Montjeu gelding. He is also full of expectation, adding: "Hurricane is in good form. He is a dual Champion winner, is very good around Punchestown and has won plenty of races around there, so we are looking forward to the race." Michael Bowe's Akatara is the only other contender. Hurricane Fly will set a World Record for Grade One victories if successful, surpassing the record of Kauto Star and US Champion John Henry. He is 1/6 with the sponsors to do so and Ruby Walsh is excited by the possibility: "He looks to be in good form, he's a dual champion hurdler and he's very good around Punchestown. Hurricane Fly is a wonderful horse, it's really exciting to be going for a World Record especially at Punchestown where he has already won six Grade One races." The sponsors Rory Jiwani said, "Obviously we would have liked a more competitive field but it's always great to see Hurricane Fly on the track and a World Record 17th Grade One win looks to be at his mercy. "He's 1/6 to go clear of Kauto Star and American legend John Henry but I suspect we'll have to wait for stiffer tests to see whether he is likely to win a third StanJames Champion Hurdle next March for which he is currently an 11/2 shot

Jockey Barry Geraghty feel Cash And Go has a big chance of going one better than last year in Sunday's StanJames.com Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham on Sunday. Cash And Go: Fancied to go well Second last season behind Tom George's Olofi, Nicky Henderson's charge rather lost his form thereafter. However, Geraghty feels Cash And Go has the ability to be a major player once more off the same handicap mark as in the race 12 months ago. "It was 12 months ago that Cash And Go made his reappearance in the race and ran a blinder to finish second to Olofi off a mark 141," Geraghty said in his www.athteraces.com blog. "He never really recovered his form after he unseated me next time out in the Ladbroke at Ascot in December and because of that he's on the same mark as a year ago. "He's certainly as good now as he was then and although this is always one of the hardest handicaps of the season to win - and that includes here in March - I'm very hopeful of a good outcome. "I'd have plenty of respect for others in the field including Pine Creek who won well at Ascot on his reappearance and I can see one that finished some way behind him that day, Court Minstrel, leaving that form well behind." Despite Geraghty feeling Court Minstrel may improve, trainer Evan Williams expects Court Minstrel to struggle off his current mark. The six-year-old failed to make any impact on his seasonal debut at Ascot in a valuable handicap won by the reopposing Pine Creek. He was saddled with top weight that day and was lining up on a 8lb higher mark than when he last ran in Scotland. Williams feels he has little chance of getting involved here off that same mark of 149. "He's got no chance off that mark, he's got too much weight," said Williams. "I've said it before, and I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think he can win off that rating. "The difference on Sunday is he'll love the ground, though, compared to Ascot." David O'Meara is hoping Ifandbutwhynot, sent off favourite for the County Hurdle in March, will improve for his first run of the season which saw him finish third behind Harry Fry's Karinga Dancer at Aintree. "It was a nice run from him at Aintree - he often comes on for his first start of the season - and we are happy with him," said O'Meara. "He progressed last season and he was running well in the Scottish Champion Hurdle before he fell. We are hopeful he can continue his progression this year. We have always thought a bit of him and we will know a lot more about how competitive his mark is on Sunday." Alan King wants to see a bit more from last season's Grade One-winning mare L'Unique. She made her return in a Listed race against her own sex at Wetherby but appeared to blow up before the last hurdle behind John Quinn's Cockney Sparrow. "I was in two minds as to whether to run L'Unique in the Greatwood Hurdle, but she has seemed in good form at home this week so we have decided to give it a go and, hopefully, she will improve on her comeback run at Wetherby," the Barbury Castle handler told his website, www.alankingracing.co.uk. The top weight is Get Me Out Of Here, who has been second in three different races at the Festival but is without a win since October 2012. John Quinn runs both Kashmir Peak, who has improved on the Flat in the summer, and Calculated Risk. Irish interest is provided by Flaxen Flare, Rawnaq, Thomas Edison, Kalann, Redera and Enchanted Forest. Paul Nicholls' Sametegal was a good juvenile, while David PIpe has two interesting runners in Tanerko Emery and Dell' Arca.

Jockey Danny Cook faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines after he suffered a broken leg in action at Newcastle on Friday. Danny Cook: Faces another spell on sidelines Cook sustained the injury when he was kicked by a horse before the concluding bumper at Gosforth Park. The rider still competed in the race, finishing sixth aboard Serenity Now, but scans later confirmed the bad news. His agent Richard Hale said: "He got double-barrelled before the bumper and went for X-rays afterwards. "He text me to tell me his leg was broken, so it's not great." Cook has endured awful luck with injuries over the last few years including shattering a kneecap in three places at Wetherby in December 2011. He missed out on a winner in the very first contest at Wetherby on Saturday when Run Ructions Run scored under substitute jockey Dougie Costello.

Lingfield Park, 16 November 2013
11.50, first race
The Stewards noted that BEEP had interfered with HARTLEBURY who then interfered with KINDIA (IRE), all unplaced, on the first bend but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
2.00, fifth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference just after the start. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner ANACONDA (FR), ridden by Richard Kingscote, interfered with SOLAR DEITY (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Martin Harley, who then interfered with TIGERS TALE (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Andrea Atzeni, who then interfered with LOWTHER, also unplaced, ridden by Graham Lee. The Stewards found Kingscote in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Saturday 30 November and Monday 2 December 2013.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, ANACONDA (FR), ridden by Richard Kingscote and trained by Tom Dascombe, compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 26 October 2013 where the gelding finished seventh of twelve, beaten by 8¼ lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding benefitted from a change of tactics, making all. They ordered ANACONDA (FR) to be routine tested.
2.35, sixth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that HIGHLAND KNIGHT (IRE), unplaced, ridden by David Probert, had interfered with TINSHU (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Graham Lee. The Stewards found Probert in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left towards the rail. They suspended him for 3 days as follows: Saturday 30 November and Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 December 2013.
3.10, seventh race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, VALBCHEK (IRE), ridden by Shane Kelly and trained by Jeremy Noseda, compared with its previous run at Doncaster on 26 October 2013 where the gelding finished thirteenth of nineteen, beaten by 6 lengths. They noted the trainer could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form. They ordered VALBCHEK (IRE) to be routine tested.
16/11/2013
Wetherby, 16 November 2013
12.25, first race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of PRINCESS CAETANI (IRE), ridden by Jason Maguire and trained by David Dennis, which settled mid division in the early stages of the race and appeared to stay on at one pace to finish fifth, beaten some 17 lengths. They interviewed the rider who stated that PRINCESS CAETAIN (IRE) jumped poorly throughout, ran green and was very weak. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted his explanations. They ordered PRINCESS CAETANI (IRE) to be routine tested.
1.30, third race
The Stewards noted that there was interference between the winner, FLICKA WILLIAMS (IRE), and LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN (IRE), placed second, after the second last hurdle but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved FLICKA WILLIAMS (IRE)’s placing.
3.15, sixth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Robert Mccarth, the rider of ZAFRANAGAR (IRE), placed second, from the last hurdle. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that had used his whip without allowing his horse time to respond. The Stewards suspended Mccarth for 3 days as follows: Sunday 1, Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 December 2013.
16/11/2013
Cheltenham, 16 November 2013
2.30, fourth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference on the run in. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that COLOUR SQUADRON (IRE), placed second, ridden by Tom O’Brien, had interfered with HIDDEN CYCLONE (IRE), placed third, ridden by Andrew J. McNamara. The Stewards found O’Brien in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his horse to drift left handed. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Sunday 1 December 2013.
3.35, sixth race
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from a representative of TurfTrax that INDEVAN, trained by W.P. Mullins, ran in the race without a speed sensing device. They interviewed the trainer’s representative and the TurfTrax representative. Having heard their evidence the Stewards accepted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that there was a genuine mistake and she had saddled the gelding with the paddock number cloth instead of the cloth with which the jockey had weighed out.
4.05, seventh race
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from a representative of TurfTrax that LILY WAUGH (IRE), trained by Anthony Honeyball, ran in the race without a speed sensing device. They interviewed the trainer and the TurfTrax representative. Having heard their evidence the Stewards accepted the trainer’s explanation that there was a genuine mistake and he had saddled the mare with the paddock number cloth instead of the cloth with which the jockey had weighed out.
16/11/2013
Wolverhampton, 16 November 2013
6.20, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why William Twiston-Davies, the rider of BOND ARTIST (IRE), had been slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the start, they accepted his explanation that the blindfold became stuck on the bridle causing him difficulty in removing it.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Patrick Donaghy, the rider of CANTOR, placed second, from approaching the final two furlongs. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Donaghy for 2 days as follows: Saturday 30 November and Monday,2 December 2013.
6.50, third race
The Stewards noted that there had been interference between the winner, DOLDRUMS (USA), and LIKE A DIAMOND (IRE), placed second, on the bend entering the back straight, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved DOLDRUMS (USA)’s placing.
7.50, fifth race
The Starter reported that DUTCH RIFLE, trained by James Tate, was unruly in the stalls and was withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and he was informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

15:15 Sunday 17th November Racing Tips - 17/11/2013
Emperor's Choice was very progressive last season and is 3 from 8 over fences coming into this. Still only a 6 year old, he should have a win in him off this mark and this is a fair bit easier than the race he contested at Cheltenham last term. He doesn't have a great record fresh though and the price about Camden is of more interest. Currently 11/2, he is 2 from 2 at the track, acts on heavy ground, and has won fresh before. He shaped last time as if a step up to this trip should suit and we simply have to forgive an effort on penultimate start, won by Emperor's Choice, when he never got into it and was pulled up. The Clyda Rover is worth support after running badly last time. He too is progressive an got off to such a bad start at Wincanton that the race was over before it had began. This is a smart race though and he may want further but 12/1 is respectable. Fontwell 13.50 - Camden 2pt e/w
There are a few short prices lining up today and it could be a tough day for the bookies. Sire De Grugy look a good thing for all that Special Tiara is overpriced. Dodging Bullets and Raya Star are very closely matched and the market looks to have got that spot on at this stage so it's a no bet for me. However, the fact that Sea Lord and The Liquidator are both a best priced 11/8 for the novice hurdle really makes John Ferguson's 6 year old a decent bet. He is unbeaten in 6 starts over hurdles and, however good Pipe's Champion Bumper 4th is, he will have to go some to beat Sea Lord on only his 2nd start over obstacles. There should be no excuses on today's ground and, as long as he handles the track, he'll take all the beating. I'm a fan of David Pipe and The Liquidator and he is a plausible winner, as to some extent is Lac Fontana, but Sea Lord should probably be closer to evens on form and he only has to give the young pretender 3lb, which I'm not sure will be enough. Cheltenham 13.35 - Sea Lord 3pt win
The Greatwood Hurdle is 7's against the field and last year's 2nd, Cash And Go, has an obvious chance off the same mark as last year. He should go well fresh but I think he's vulnerable to something a little less exposed. Pine Creek is very progressive but the horse that could be worth siding with finished 20 lengths behind John Ferguson's runner last time. Court Minstrel clearly didn't run his race but goes well here and will appreciate genuinely good ground (Williams blamed ground on the softer side last time). On the basis of his Scottish Champion Hurdle win he should be able to defy an 8lb higher mark. He is 6 but came to hurdling late and he is 16/1 for only his 7th start over obstacles. Thomas Edison was very unlucky last time out but has still gone up for his troubles and he should probably be double figures at the prices. The other A J Martin runner has a chance at a big price (Redera) but is getting on a bit and preference of the rest is for Kashmir Peak at 11/1. He was well below par in the Triumph but is better than he showed that day and is well matched with Sametegal (who won last time with a bit more in hand than it appeared) on the basis of their contests last term. He beat the Nicholls runner in Grade 2 company and is 6lb better off today in conditions that should be ideal. His 2nd to the impressive Thomas Hobson on the flat at Doncaster last time shows he arrives in form and looks potentially very well treated. Cheltenham 15.15 - Court Minstrel 1pt e/w Cheltenham 15.15 - Kashmir Peak 1pt e/w

Paul Nicholls gives us his verdict on the seven runners he has on Sunday across Cheltenham and Fontwell...
13.00 Cheltenham - Pay The King
Joined us after winning a bumper in Ireland. May have been beaten at odds-on on both his starts for us, but he still showed us ability and I am happy with him coming into this. And I was also pretty happy to see him given a mark of 116, which I think could underestimate him on what I see at home. I think the better ground will suit him, too. They all have to go and do it on the track though, so it is always good to have Harry available for races such as this.
13:35 Cheltenham - Lac Fontana
Showed us plenty of ability in three starts last season and he got off the mark here with a decent front-running display last month. I told Daryl to be positive with him there as he had been working lazily at home, and to wake him up. I am not sure how strong that form is and he does carry a 7lb penalty for that win in clearly a much better race here - though it has really cut up - but he is a horse we have always liked and I don't think that we have seen the best of him yet.
13.50 Fontwell - Buck's Bond
Ground his way to a win here over 3m2f110yd in the soft back in April, but has very frustratingly fallen on his last two starts, both at Wincanton. I think he would have won there in May and he was certainly not beaten when in third and falling last time, though obviously he would have had his work cut out to trouble the winner Standing Ovation. We have done a lot of schooling with him at home since, as you'd expect, and I can see him going well off a mark of 123 today if his jumping holds together. We try him in first-time blinkers today, and we know he stays and handles testing ground.
14.10 Cheltenham - Dodging Bullets
It was something of a relief to see him win on his chasing debut at Kempton last month, as I still don't really know what went wrong with him at Cheltenham and Aintree. But we tweaked his breathing in the summer - he had a palate operation - and it was good to see him more like his old self at Kempton, especially as we hadn't managed to do a great deal of schooling with him on grass at home because of the firm ground. This is a bigger test for him, but he obviously loved this place over hurdles and I hope that he will progress as gets more experience.
14.55 Fontwell - Benvolio
Took time to settle in here, but he came good with a couple of soft ground hurdle wins over 2m6f at Wincanton last season. That was very encouraging as we have always viewed him as a chaser - he won a point in Ireland - and he schools really well at home. I think a mark of 133 is fair enough for his chasing debut today and I can see him running a big race. Is in good form at home.
15.15 Cheltenham - Sametegal
This will tell us whether we go chasing with him or not. He developed into one of the leading juveniles last season and made a satisfactory return to action when winning here last month, where he idled in front after looking set to win well. He certainly isn't thrown in here off a mark of 144, but this isn't a horse to underestimate and he is a 4yo with only nine runs under his belt, so there could well be more to come.
15.50 Cheltenham - Southfield Vic
Was very impressive when winning an Exeter bumper in April, after which he joined us. And he gave my daughter Megan a great first ride under Rules when finishing second at Chepstow last month, especially considering his greenness there was very evident. Hopefully, that further experience will have taught him a lot and I can see him going well here, even if I think he could be next year's horse.

Trainer Martin Keighley is eyeing one of the staying novice hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival for Creepy after the five-year-old stamped himself as an exciting prospect at the Open meeting. Creepy: Likely to return to Cheltenham in March The Neptune Investment Hurdle over two miles, five furlongs and the three-mile Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle are the races Keighley singled out as the options for Creepy following his victory over Timesremembered in the Grade Two Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle on Saturday. "It was fantastic and he's bright and well this morning," said the Condicote handler. "Emma Lavelle's horse (Timesremembered) that won the Persian War has rock-solid form and Creepy was going away again going to the line. "Not sure where we go next. I'll speak to the owners today. He will be aimed at the Festival and I expect it will be either the Neptune or the Albert Bartlett. We'll see how we get on before then. "He loves it round Cheltenham so he may go back there in the meantime."

Champion Court is to be checked out as his trainer Martin Keighley was not happy with the horse following his disappointing run in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Champion Court: Not feeling himself after the Paddy Power Keighley reported his stable star to be "uncomfortable" immediately after the valuable handicap chase on Saturday when he was only seventh behind Johns Spirit. Though Champion Court appeared none the worse on Sunday, Keighley is going to have his stable star scoped and blood tested. "He seemed bright enough this morning, but I've going to have him blood tested tomorrow and scope him," said the Condicote handler. "He didn't travel the way he normally travels, so there's something amiss somewhere. "He was uncomfortable after the race on Saturday and a bit on edge. He wasn't himself for some reason so we'll have him checked out before we think of making any plans."

Aintree regular Seabass could return to Merseyside next month as trainer Ted Walsh looks to give the 2012 Grand National third his first run of the winter campaign. A lack of suitable opportunities in his native Ireland has prompted Walsh to think of taking the 10-year-old back to Liverpool for either the Becher or Grand Sefton Chase on December 7. "He could go back to Aintree on December 7. There are two races there, the Becher and the Grand Sefton," Walsh told At The Races. "He might go in the Sefton over two-miles-five there in Liverpool. There are not a lot of opportunities for him here. "He's a 154 or 155-rated horse. He'd be top weight in a handicap, but not good enough for a Grade Two or Grade Three so he might go back to Liverpool. It's a valuable pot."

The second fence in the straight on the steeple chase course was omitted due to false ground.
12.45, first race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Trevor Whelan, the rider of BRASS MONKEY (IRE), placed second, from approaching the second last. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Whelan for 2 days as follows: Sunday 1 and Monday 2 December 2013.
4.00, seventh race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, ORVITA (FR), ridden by Richie McLernon and trained by Helen Nelmes, compared with its previous run at Plumpton on 4 November 2013 where the gelding was pulled up. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding benefitted from a return to hurdles having been running over fences. They ordered ORVITA (FR) to be routine tested.

Cheltenham, 17 November 2013
1.00, first race
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Starter that TOUGHNESS DANON, ridden by Kielan Woods and trained by Ian Williams, had refused to race. They interviewed the Trainer and the Starters. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the start, the Stewards informed the trainer that future similar behaviour may result in the gelding being reported to the British Horseracing Authority.
2.40, fourth race
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Starter that Nigel Twiston-Davies, the trainer of MAD MOOSE (IRE), had waved a belt at the horse encourage the gelding to jump off. Having heard his evidence the Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (B)42 and fined him £140.
3.15, fifth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the line. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found that the winner, DELL’ARCA, ridden by Tom Scudamore, had interfered with RAWNAQ (IRE), placed third, ridden by K M Smith. The Stewards found Scudamore in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding, in that he had allowed his horse to drift right without correction. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Sunday 1 and Monday 2 December 2013.
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from a representative of TurfTrax that KALANN (IRE), trained by Sabrina J Harty, ran in the race without a speed sensing device. They interviewed the trainer and the TurfTrax representative. Having heard their evidence, the Stewards accepted the trainer’s explanation that there had been a genuine mistake and she had saddled the gelding with the paddock number cloth instead of the number cloth containing the speed sensing device.

DAILY MAIL.
BOOGANGOO (Wolverhampton, nap, 2.30) made rivals dance to her tune at the Midlands venue on Thursday night and the Scottish raider looks to have leading claims of following up.
The Acclamation filly may not have won the strongest nursery – Jazzy Lady was arguably unlucky in the run – but she stayed on powerfully in the final furlong and looks worth following now she has struck form.
RUWAIYAN (Wolverhampton, nb, 4.30) fled round Dunstall Park when last seen and could make short work of his rivals in the seven furlong handicap.
The selection fluffed the start in a similar event, yet appeared on the bridle turning for home before quickening past some toiling foes to score pulling up at the line.
It has taken time for connections to try the four-year-old at today’s trip and the son of Cape Cross looks capable of further progression now his optimum conditions have been identified.
ASHDOWN LAD (Leicester, 2.40) appears to have been cleverly placed by the talented Tom Symonds and could prove the answer to an interesting handicap.
The gelding’s Herefordshire handler has already established an excellent record in handicaps with his runners showing a handsome level stakes profit and his charge has plenty of experience at the track courtesy of some fine runs on the level there.

15:30 Monday 18th November Racing Tips - 18/11/2013
Shocking Open meeting, shocking weekend, back to the comfort of the all weather. No ground worries, no obstacles, hopefully some winners. We start with Happy Families who lines up against Aiyana 3lb better off after the filly beat her last time over 2 miles at Lingfield. That came after an inspired Ryan Moore ride, however, and you'd expect Andrea Atzeni's mount to stand a better chance today in a truer run race. Heather Main and Atzeni have a level stakes profit of +54 when teaming up together in the last few seasons and that figure is similar when looking at the jockey's record here in the same time frame. The filly is a half-sister to a Northumberland Plate winner and should see out this extra furlong at 11/1. Alpine Mysteries and Flemish School (who could do with a market check) are also of interest but not as appealing as the selection, and she is a better price. My History could have a decent winter ahead but is not guaranteed to get the trip. Wolverhampton 15.30 - Happy Families 1pt e/w
Ruwaiyan has gone up 10lb for his course and distance win last time out but there could be a lesson to be learnt from Living The Life who finished 3rd that day. The Michael Buckley owned filly was attempting to overcome an 8lb penalty for a course and distance win but ultimately it proved too much. She was hampered early and then pushed to lead and I'd probably side with her over the favourite on these revised terms, especially looking at the price about the jolly. However, threats lurk elsewhere and none more so than David O'Meara's Fortinbrass at 6/1. O'Meara is very good with recent purchases and this 3 year old gelding, only in his care for a matter of days, comes here after winning a seller over a furlong shorter last time out. This trip should suit and he is still leniently treated off 2lb lower than his last win. Piddie's Power is the each way option off 5lb higher than her last success. She looked as if she needed a little further last time when dropping back to 6 here and Robert Tart takes off a useful 3lb. She is perhaps better watched on first start for Kevin Frost. Wolverhampton 16.30 - Fortinbrass 1pt e/w
