Wincanton, 9 November 2013
12.20, first race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of BEAUJOLAIS (IRE), ridden by Denis O’Regan, and trained by John Ferguson, which appeared to be tenderly ridden in the latter stages of the race eventually finishing sixth, beaten 15 ½ lengths. They interviewed the rider and the trainer. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer. The rider stated that his instructions were to jump out handy, get the gelding jumping and do his best. He further added that BEAUJOLAIS (IRE) was carrying his head in a manner that made him think that the gelding may be suffering from a breathing problem. The trainer confirmed these instructions adding that he had concerns in the past about BEAUJOLAIS (IRE)’s breathing. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted their explanations.
12.55, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry following an inspection which was held as a result of a report from the jockeys that horses had been slipping on the bends.. They interviewed the jockeys, Tom Scudamore, A.P. McCoy and Joe Tizzard, together with the trainers, Alan King and John Ferguson, the clerk of the course, the inspector of courses and Steve Parlett, the general manager of the racecourse. Having considered their evidence the Stewards were satisfied that racing could continue.
3.50, seventh race
The record of vaccinations in the passport of INNER DRIVE (IRE), trained by Don Cantillon did not comply with the Rules of Racing. The Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (E)18 and fined him £280, this being his second offence within the last 12 months.

They interviewed Danny Cook, Daragh Bourke, the rider of SURPRISE VENDOR (IRE), Brian Hughes, the rider of TEO VIVO (FR), Brian Harding, the rider of BRIERYHILL BOY, the Clerk of the Course and the Course Inspector. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by ALFRED OATS slipping independently on the bend. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved, the Stewards noted their explanations and ordered sand to be applied to the bend.

Doncaster, 9 November 2013
12.05, first race
The Starter reported that FINDHORN MAGIC, trained by Peter Makin, was reluctant to load. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
1.15, third race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Silvestre De Sousa, the rider of TORCHLIGHTER (IRE), placed second, approximately two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. As the offence warranted a suspension of between 2 and 6 days and taking into account that this was the rider’s fifth such suspension within the previous 6 months, the Stewards referred De Sousa to the British Horseracing Authority.
1.50, fourth race
The Stewards noted that CHOSEN CHARACTER (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with SWIFTLY DONE (IRE), unplaced, two and a half furlongs out, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Probert for 2 days as follows: Saturday 23 and Monday 25 November 2013.
3.00, sixth race
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Sampling Officer that George Baker had been unable to provide a urine sample and now wished to leave the course as he was due to catch a flight to Dubai. They interviewed the rider and the Sampling Officer. Having heard their evidence the Stewards accepted the rider’s explanation that he was unable to provide a sufficient sample as he had been riding at a low weight and needed to leave the course. Under Rule(B)8, the Stewards granted him an exemption from providing a sample.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching three and a half furlongs. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that CUSHION, placed third, ridden by William Buick, had interfered with MAKING EYES (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Martin Dwyer. The Stewards found Buick in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he manoeuvred right. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Saturday 23 November 2013.
4.05, eighth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching six furlongs out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that ROYAL HOLIDAY (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Nathan Alison, had interfered with CELTIC SIXPENCE (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Adam McLean. The Stewards found Alison in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift right when not sufficiently clear. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Saturday 23 and Monday 25 November 2013.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Nathan Alison, the rider of ROYAL HOLIDAY (IRE), placed fourth, from four and a half furlongs out. 13:50 Sunday 10th November Racing Tips - 10/11/2013
Flemenstar will surely win the Fortria Chase at Navan but is a little short to be putting up here. Captain Cee Bee is a 12 year old stepping up in trip but looks the most likely winner of the Lismullen Hurdle at 9/4. He was a comfortable Grade 2 winner first time out this year and should handle going up to 2 and a half miles for the first time in his career. A P McCoy is a very suitable replacement to Mark Walsh who has ridden him on his last 5 starts and the ground should be perfect. Mala Beach will be the danger having beaten the impressive Defy Logic last time and in reciept of 3lb from the selection. However, he will want a decent pace to chase here given this trip is absolute minimum and that may not happen. Navan 13.50 - Captain Cee Bee 2pt win
McCoy should double up with Marlbrook in the beginners' chase. The 5 year old is unbeaten in a bumper and over hurdles and must be a half decent chaser if connections are already keen to try him over fences. There are a few to take him on though and Minsk will be a real danger if taking to fences better than hurdles,. He was no slouch over smaller obstacles but never really hit the heights he may have. The one it could be worth giving a 2nd chance to is Prima Vista who is very unlikely to win this but has major place caims at 12/1 with Barry Geraghty on top for the first time. He has gone close back on the flat this summer and is worth a speculative punt now back chasing. If he jumps well, and that is by no means a guarantee, he may have been underestimated on better ground than he's had of late over obstacles. A 2nd to Alderwood here in January certainly gives him a chance on form. Navan 15:25 - Prima Vista 1pt e/w

Sizing Australia could return to the scene of his finest hour on Friday for the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham. Sizing Australia (right): Knows the cross-country track like the back of his hand Trainer Henry De Bromhead's 11-year-old won over the unique course at the Festival in March 2011 and proved he was no back number with a win over hurdles at Wexford last month. "We have entered Sizing Australia at Cheltenham and the race is certainly an option for him, although there is a cross country race at Punchestown the following day, which we are also looking at," said the County Waterford handler. "He is in great from at the moment, as he showed the other day at Wexford. I was delighted that he won and pleased for our conditional jokey Kevin Sexton, who gave him a great ride. "He also won at the Punchestown Festival this year, so he seems to have found a new lease of life at the age of 11. He hasn't had it too hard over the years and he is not that old compared to some of the cross country horses. "Hopefully, if we get a clear run over the winter, we can head back to the Festival with him in March again." Irish runners have dominated the race down the years, with only Philip Hobbs' Lacdoudal breaking their stranglehold since 2004. Enda Bolger has won the majority of those with the incomparable Spot Thedifference taking four and Garde Champetre also scoring and he has an interesting entry in the former Willie Mullins-trained Quiscover Fontaine. Hobbs may run Balthazar King, who won a valuable pot at Cheltenham's opening meeting for the third year in a row recently, while Uncle Junior, winner of the race for the past two years, as is former Hennessy winner Diamond Harry. Diamond Harry's trainer Nick Williams said: "He ran well over cross-country fences in France earlier this year and seems back in good form again now after his latest win there last weekend." Meanwhile Sizing Australia's stablemate, Grade One winner Special Tiara, could tackle Sprinter Sacre in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham next Sunday. De Bromhead's six-year-old beat Overturn in the Maghull Novices' Chase at Aintree but then found heavy ground all against him at Punchestown on his final start last season. His campaign got off to an inauspicious start this season when he unseated his rider at the first fences at Naas and if Nicky Henderson's superstar turns up he will not be able to afford such lapses. "Special Tiara is likely to come over for the Shloer Chase. He jumped a shadow on his first run back at Naas and unfortunately unseated Bryan Cooper," said his trainer. "We were hopeful that he would run well at Aintree. We felt that two miles around a flat track on good ground would suit him and we got everything on the day, so we knew that would run to the best of his ability. "The ground was a bit too heavy for him at Punchestown. He is only a six-year-old and was quite a big, weak horse then, although he has summered really well and we are looking forward to getting him out again."

William's Wishes will aim for back-to-back successes in the Carey Group Handicap Chase at Ascot on November 23 after his winning run was brought to an abrupt end in the Haldon Gold Cup last week. Evan WIlliams: Trainer of William's Wishes Trainer Evan Williams' eight-year-old had previously been on a real roll, winning his previous five races and flying up the handicap as a result. He faced by far his stiffest test at Exeter against Cue Card, Somersby and Module and he could only come home fifth of the six runners, but Williams was not too despondent. "I think we learned an awful lot about him," said Williams. "We rode him very aggressively as he had a light weight against some very good horses, but it failed to pay off. "What we'll do now is revert back to the waiting tactics that had served him so well last season. "We'll take him back to Ascot now for the Carey Group Chase that he won last year. He's nearly 20lb higher, but you are far more likely to get a strong pace in these valuable handicaps and that is what he needs. "He's come out of Exeter exceptionally well."

Grand National runner-up Cappa Bleu makes his seasonal reappearance in the Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Graduation Chase at Carlisle on Monday. Cappa Bleu: Returns to action at Carlisle The Evan Williams-trained 11-year-old has only been lightly raced since winning the Foxhunter Chase at Cheltenham in 2009 but he has garnered a large following thanks to his exploits at Aintree. Having been fourth in the Grand National in 2012, he ran an even better race in April and his campaign will once again be based around a return to Merseyside. "He summered absolutely grand," said Williams. "We started him off in the same race last year (finished second) and it's the ideal place to start. There's never going to be many runners due to the conditions of the race. "He's better off in a small field for his first run back after Aintree as his jumping tends to be pretty rusty and he needs a race back over normal fences. He tends to be expecting the drop like he gets at Aintree and it's a confidence thing. "It's a lovely, stiff track and they won't go too mad. "It will be a similar campaign to last year as he doesn't like heavy ground. He ran in the Welsh National two seasons back and it took me a long time to get him back so I don't see any point compromising his chance in the National on heavy ground. "The spring seems to suit him." Five will go to post including David Pipe's Buddy Bolero, the Sue Smith-trained Vintage Star and Michael Smith's Imperial Vic.

Market Rasen, 10 November 2013
3.20, fifth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Mark Quinlan, the rider of MISTER WISEMAN, on the final bend. They interviewed Quinlan and having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by the gelding beginning to tire and stumbling. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved, the Stewards took no further action.
3.50, sixth race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Mr O J Murphy, the rider of DORMOUSE, unplaced, had used his whip down the shoulder in the backhand from the final bend. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Rule (B)54.2 and guilty of improper riding in that he had used his whip contrary to the Conditions of the Race. They suspended him for 7 days on days to be notified to him by the British Horseracing Authority.

1.25, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Liam Heard, the rider of TINKER TIME (IRE), had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found him in breach of Rule (B)59.3 and guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing in that he failed to ride out on a horse that would have finished fourth.. They suspended him for 4 days as follows: Sunday 24, Monday 25, Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 November 2013.

Market Rasen, 10 November 2013
1.10, first race
The Stewards considered the running of ZAMOYSKI, ridden by Richard Johnson and trained by Steve Gollings, which finished unplaced. The Stewards noted the rider’s explanation that the gelding ran flat. They ordered ZAMOYSKI to be routine tested.
1.40, second race
The Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding STELLA’S FELLA, unplaced, trained by Giles Smyly, bled from the nose and also lost a front shoe.

12:45 Monday 11th November Racing Tips - 11/11/2013
There is plenty of forecast rain this morning at Carlisle and the ground cold be very testing come race time. Both chases over 3 miles plus are likely to become real slogs but, whatever the weather, Etxaler will take some beating in the opener. He is 16lb below his highest winning mark and has a course and distance record that reads 1212. Even top-weight might not stop him but he may just want the rain to stay away and is perhaps shorter than he should be. Camden George has dropped to a reasonable mark and should appreciate the step back up in trip after last time, though he hasn't appeared in quite the same form after a year off at the start of last season. The one to chance at a bigger price, though the favourite is worth supporting, is Bollin Fiona. The mare is a second season chaser that should threaten off a mark of 92. Her form is hit and miss given that a few fancies have not made it round in her races, though they are now competing off marks well into the hundreds. She wants plenty of cut and is 6lb lower than her highest winning hurdles mark. Yet to win here, she has twice been placed over shorter but looks as though a step up in trip should suit and has major place claims at 20/1. Last time the ground was too quick at Cartmel but that will not be the case today and Callum Whillans has steered her to both career wins. Carlisle 12:45 - Bollin Fiona 1pt e/w
The Graduatuon Chase over a furlong shorter later in the day sees Grand National 2nd Cappa Bleu in the race he finished 2nd in last year. He has every chance but may well find something younger that little bit too good. Vintage Star could be just that for a team with a good record here over the last few seasons. He should improve for this second year over fences and isn't a bad price at 6/1. The two at the top of the market make plenty of appeal but I would side with Buddy Bolero of the two. Imperial Vic has 14lb to find with the Pipe horse on paper but is only in receipt of 11. That may be enough but these condiins should really suit the gelding that was 4th in the National Hunt Chase in March. He looks an out and out stayer and still unexposed for a team that have a 100% record at the track this year (2-2). He'll relish the rain and is expected to bounce back form that early Ascot fall at 15/8. Carlisle 14.25 - Buddy Bolero 3pt win

Grand National-winning trainer Sue Smith has been fined £3,000 by the stewards at Southwell over the running and riding of Emral Silk. Sue Smith: Fined at Southwell Conditional jockey Jonathan England was suspended for 18 days and the horse banned from running for 40 days following the 32Red.com "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle. Emral Silk, a 12/1 chance, finished seventh of eight behind the winner John Reel, beaten a total of 42 lengths on his hurdles debut. "They have been found in breach of schooling and conditioning in public," stipendiary steward Robert Sidebottom told At The Races. "We felt that the jockey didn't make all reasonable substantial effort to achieve the best possible placing." England's ban runs from November 25 to 30 and December 1 to 12 as it was his second offence within 12 to 24 months. Emral Silk is prohibited from competing in a race from November 14 to December 24.

Long Run's participation in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday week still hangs in the balance. Long Run: Nothing conclusive Nicky Henderson's 2011 Gold Cup winner and dual King George hero disappointed for the first time in his career when unplaced in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby last month. Still only eight, Long Run returned a dirty scope after his Wetherby flop and connections will only ask him to take on the likes of Bobs Worth and Silviniaco Conti if they are convinced the gelding is back on form. "There are lots of different theories but nothing conclusive as yet," said owner Robert Waley-Cohen. "We've not decided if he's going to run in the Betfair at Haydock yet. He will be prepared for the race but he will only go if we are 100% happy with him. "There's no point going for a race like that against the best horses around if you are even 1% below your best. The horse will tell us if he's ready or not. That was the first time he'd been out of the first three in 27 starts, so you'd have to think something wasn't right."

Owner Robert Waley-Cohen admits to being excited at the prospect of Rajdhani Express running in Saturday's Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Rajdhani Express: Exciting his owner The six-year-old won the Rewards4Racing Novices' Handicap Chase over the same two-mile-four-and-a-half-furlong course at the Festival in March, but he has a 15lb higher handicap mark to overcome this weekend. Waley-Cohen's Long Run was beaten in the first major handicap of the jumps season off a mark of 158 in 2010, but it did not do him any harm as he returned to win the Gold Cup the following March. While Rajdhani Express has never been talked of in the same terms by Waley-Cohen or Nicky Henderson, he progressed at a rate of knots in the second half of last season. "It's always exciting when these second-season novices get to test their mettle against their elders," said Waley-Cohen. "You never quite know how they are going to fare, you don't know how good the novices were the year before. All we know about him is that he doesn't like it very heavy, and it doesn't look like it will be. "The ground looks like it is going to be perfect so we must congratulate Simon Claisse (clerk of the course) for that. Dynaste is obviously the one to beat but whether he will run or not, we don't know yet." Trainer Martin Keighley is in confident mood as he prepares Champion Court. Fourth in the King George last season, the eight-year-old fared even better when winning over the same course and distance of this weekend's highlight in April. "I've been really pleased with his preparation," the Gloucestershire handler told At The Races. "He had a nice racecourse gallop around Wincanton and I couldn't be happier with him. This race has always been the plan, it looks ideal. From the end of last season, we put him away for this as he runs well fresh. "He's got everything in his favour and looking at the forecast it will be lovely, good ground." Rajdhani Express and Champion Court are two of 28 possibles for the first feature handicap of the season. Henderson has slimmed his team down to three, with top weight Finian's Rainbow and Nadiya De La Vega still also in the mix. Dynaste remains a possible for David Pipe, as are stablemates Salut Flo and Ballynagour. Jonjo O'Neill's Johns Spirit has been well backed since winning at Cheltenham's first meeting of the season, while Katenko may attempt to make up for lost time for the in-form Venetia Williams having had last season cut short by injury. Old Roan Chase winner Conquisto may run for Steve Gollings, with Tap Night, Walkon, Battle Group and Vino Griego other notable possibles. The Irish raiding party has diminished, with only Hidden Cyclone, Texas Jack, Gift Of Dgab and Sean Airgead remaining as Willie Mullins has taken out Marito and his other entries. Hidden Cyclone won three of his first four starts over fences, with his only defeat coming at the hands of Sir Des Champs in a Grade Two contest at Leopardstown in January, 2012, but failed to live up to expectations last season. Hanlon reported: "Hidden Cyclone definitely runs in the Paddy Power Gold Cup. His preparation is going well and he will do one more bit of work tomorrow. "He had a racecourse gallop at Fairyhouse and that all went to plan, so we are happy with him. "I was very happy with his run at Listowel. A lot of my horses were very sick last year, but I think they are over that now because I have a lot of point-to-pointers and they are winning every week, so I think they are back to form. "It looks like it is going to be a very good race with tough opposition, but we will have a go. "I don't have any concerns about his jumping. In my opinion, they don't go fast enough for him and obviously that won't happen in Cheltenham. The faster they go, the better he will jump. "The uphill finish at Cheltenham will suit and hopefully he is on a nice mark, so we will see how he gets on." The sponsors bet: 5-1 Dynaste, 6-1 Johns Spirit, 10-1 Rajdhani Express, Champion Court, Ballynagour, 12-1 Colour Squadron, Katenko, Hidden Cyclone, Salut Flo, 14-1 Battle Group, Finian's Rainbow, Conquisto, 16-1 bar.

Southwell, 11 November 2013
2.05, fourth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of EMRAL SILK, ridden by Jonathan England and trained by Sue Smith, which was settled midfield until leaving the back straight where he became detached, eventually finishing seventh, beaten 42 lengths. They interviewed the rider and the trainer. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer. The rider stated that his instructions were to sit handy, give EMRAL SILK some light and make the best of his way home. He added that the gelding did not jump well and was flat out. The trainer confirmed these instructions and stated that she was happy with the ride given. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards found the rider in breach of Rule (B)59.2 and the trainer in breach of Rule (C)45.4, in that they were guilty of schooling and conditioning the horse on the racecourse. They suspended the rider for 18 days as follows: Monday 25 November to Saturday 30 November inclusive and Sunday 1 December to Thursday 12 December 2013 inclusive, this being his second offence within a period of twelve to twenty four months. They fined the trainer £3,000 and suspended the horse from running in any race for 40 days from Thursday 14 November to Tuesday 24 December 2013 inclusive

Kempton Park, 11 November 2013
2.15, first race
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Starter that GREY ODYSSEY, trained by Dean Ivory, refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn. The trainer’s representative’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test. This being the second occasion within the previous 12 months that GREY ODYSSEY had been reported, the Stewards informed the trainer’s representative that if the gelding were reported for a third time within the same period, GREY ODYSSEY would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.

Backing hard luck stories at a short price can be a perilous exercise but the Medicean filly must have gone close to beating Jazzy Lady with an uninterrupted passage and she has the ability to gain compensation today.
Iron Butterfly (Huntingdon, nb, 3.10) were an American psychedelic rock ban from the 1960s and supporters of the equine namesake will be hoping she records another number one this afternoon.
James Eustace – who struck with Wily Fox at Market Rasen on Sunday – placed his mare well to win at Catterick on the level last month and she wasn’t disgraced back at the track under her revised mark last time.
She returns to hurdles this afternoon in the hands of Paul Moloney who steered the 4yo to a fluent victory at Fontwell back in March.
Iron Butterfly looks to have some scope to improve still further now she tackles obstacles again and she shouldn’t lack for fitness.
Amantius (Wolverhampton, 5.50) hacked up for rookie handler Johnny Farrelly last week and could well take some stopping under a penalty, even with recent Kempton gamble Echua in opposition.
