Trainer Andrew Slattery is planning a British compensation mission with An Saighdiur at York this Saturday. An Saighdiur: Narrowly beaten in last year's Ayr Silver Cup The Thurles trainer has seen his sprinter finish third in the last two renewals of the Ayr Silver Cup, being headed close home 12 months ago when Mass Rally took the honours and suffering a difficult run through on his most recent visit to Scotland as he finished just half a length behind Ancient Cross. Seven-times winner An Saighdiur is now being aimed for the valuable Coral Sprint Trophy on the Knavesmire. "We're planning to run and Declan McDonogh is likely to ride," said Slattery. "He'd prefer some cut in the ground, so it's been difficult for him during the summer. "We wanted to get him ready for the Paddy Power Sprint at the Curragh, which he won last year, but he was drawn two and you might as well not even turn up from that sort of draw. "He was unlucky at Ayr, and there aren't many races left for him now so hopefully we'll take our chance."

German raider Amarillo and Irish gelding Ansgar are among those set to form a cosmopolitan field for Saturday's Dubai Challenge Stakes at Newmarket. Peter Schiergen: Up for the Challenge No less than half of the 14 entries for the Group Two are trained overseas, and six of those are from Ireland. Sabrina Harty has brought Ansgar right up through handicap company and he produced his best effort to date last time when second to Brendan Brackan in the Group Three Solonoway Stakes at the Curragh. "I am really excited about running him on Saturday when Rory Cleary will ride," Harty said. "To win a race at Newmarket would be more than great, it would be fabulous. I just hope that they don't get too much rain in Newmarket as he does not want dead ground. Peter Schiergen, the leading German trainer, is not concerned about conditions for Amarillo, who collected the Group Three Jury Stakes at Haydock in June and was not beaten far by the exceptional Moonlight Cloud on her comeback at Longchamp in July. He said: "Any ground is not normally a problem for him and the current 'good to firm' at Newmarket would be fine."

Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run is again set to make his seasonal reappearance in November's Betfair Chase at Haydock. Long Run: Will reappear at Haydock It will be the third consecutive time the Waley-Cohen family's star has returned in the Grade One, in which he finished second to both Kauto Star in 2011 and Silviniaco Conti last year. Long Run went on to regain his King George title on Boxing Day, after which he finished third to stablemate Bobs Worth in the Gold Cup and second to Sir Des Champs at Punchestown. Jockey Sam Waley-Cohen said: "I'm very much looking forward to the season and I think it's most likely he will start off in the Betfair Chase." Trainer Nicky Henderson has also recently mentioned the Betfair Chase as an option for Bobs Worth.

The unraced Hydrogen, who cost 2,500,000 guineas at last year's Tattersalls October sales, remains among the possibles for the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on October 26. Chapple-Hyam: Has kept Hydrogen in the Doncaster showpiece After meeting with an early setback the Galileo colt returned to training with Peter Chapple-Hyam and is reportedly nearing what will be an eagerly-awaited debut run. Richard Hannon's Toormore, already a Group One winner in the National Stakes, and stablemate Chief Barker, would be be defending three-race unbeaten records if they run. Aidan O'Brien has a very strong hand with the likes of Beresford Stakes winner Geoffrey Chaucer, Great White Eagle and War Command still among his team. Royal Lodge runner-up Somewhat, Kevin Ryan's The Grey Gatsby and Charlie Appleby's Outstrip are also still engaged

A rebranded all-weather championship will be launched this winter with a £1million card on Good Friday providing a headline-grabbing finale to the competition. Tony Kelly: Announced AW Championships Arena Racing Company (ARC), in conjunction with the British Horseracing Authority, is preparing to introduce a new race programme with 52 new class two and three races planned, with all races run counting as qualifiers towards the finals card on April 18. The all-weather championships will run from October 26 to April 18, with meetings at ARC's three tracks of Lingfield, Wolverhampton and Southwell as well as the Jockey Club-owned Kempton. Horses can qualify for the bumper Bank Holiday card either by claiming a "win and you are in" race or by being the top rated horses over each championship distance. They will then have the opportunity to run in one of six new races created for the final day of the campaign, with total prize of £1m up for grabs. Jim Allen, racing director at ARC, said: "Developing the championships has been a combined effort and we are very grateful to our partners, Ladbrokes, Coral, 32Red and Bookmakers.co.uk for joining us in this new initiative for British all-weather racing. At The Races will also be supporting the entire series with extensive coverage of the all-weather championships." Tony Kelly, managing director at ARC, said: "It has been an exciting and challenging few months and I am delighted we have been able to launch the new all-weather championships for the 2013/2014 winter season. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank our four sponsorship partners without whom we couldn't have achieved this. I would also like to thank our colleagues at the BHA and at the HBLB who not only embraced the idea, but worked with us to redesign the race programme. "We also undertook an extensive consultation process with the owners, trainers and jockeys associations as well as the Horsemen's Group, we are grateful for their interest and support and we look forward to seeing them enjoying the enhanced benefits throughout the winter. "We hope that this championship heralds a new dawn for all-weather racing in the UK and we are delighted to be leading the way in making that happen." There will be six categories in the new championship with the three-year-old division encompassing every two-year-old race run in 2013 and every three-year-old race run in 2014 on the all-weather tracks over the qualifying period. The final will be run over seven furlongs. The sprint category will be open to four-year-olds and older with the final over six furlongs while the fillies and mares division including every race restricted the fairer sex over the winter, culminating in a seven-furlong heat. The marathon title will be contested over distances ranging from 13 to 16 furlongs, with the latter distance the test in the final, while the mile category is self-explanatory. Races from 10 to 12 furlongs will make up the middle distance category with the final over 11 furlongs boasting a prize fund of £200,000 which makes it the richest all-weather event in the UK. All the others races will have a value of £150,000.

Jockey Paul Mulrennan could return to action by the beginning of November. Paul Mulrennan: Could be back in action by the end of the month The northern-based jockey sustained multiple injuries, including a punctured lung, when he fell from a horse at Hamilton on September 23. Mulrennan's injuries were, however, not quite as severe as first feared, with his agent Richard Hale hopeful his client will be back in the saddle before the end of the season. He said: "The last time we spoke he was in good spirits. "If everything goes right, you'd like to think he'd have a chance of getting back at the end of the month. "If that's the case, you'd have to be very happy with that

8th October 2013 - THE NEW QUEEN OF EUROPE
Treve produced an awesome display in slaying a top-quality Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe field, as a result this week’s blog includes Sunday’s Longchamp extravaganza. Several Group 1 performances are discussed as well as the best of the action at home. The opinions on Longchamp are just our take on things, official figures won’t be verified by the World Rankings Committee until later in the week and any updated handicap marks for British horses won’t be published until next week’s cut off.
Terrific Treve
In recent years the female of the species has been more deadly than the male in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. This year Treve has made it three filly winners in a row for the world’s richest race on turf, writes Stephen Hindle. Following on from Danedream in 2011 and Solemia in 2012, Treve trounced her rivals with an authoritative display, winning by five lengths from Japanese raider Orfevre, who was filling the runner-up spot for the second year in a row.
The first five home were all trained either in France or Japan, with third-placed Intello and fifth-home Penglai Pavilion, along with the winner representing La Tricolore, while the Japanese Derby winner Kizuna came home in fourth. The first of the British contingent was Al Kazeem, who finished sixth having appeared to stumble about five furlongs out.
Now unbeaten in five starts, Treve is most certainly a worthy winner and with a pencilled-in figure of 129 I rank her on a par with Danedream. The World Rankings Committee has still to arrive at a final figure and several members have proposed 130, which would make Treve the highest rated Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner since Sea The Stars in 2009.
Treve’s winning margin was a smooth five lengths, which I have called 8lb. Taking away the 3lb fillies’ allowance, that makes her 5lb superior to Orfevre, who we in Britain had producing a number of 124 performances going into the race. Not only does that fit but Intello, a neck behind Orfevre, could be 123 on his third in the Marois in August. Two lengths further back, Kizuna on 120 is also a decent fit, as he beat Ruler of The World by a short head in the Niel. We have a figure of 120 for Ruler of The World in the Derby, albeit a Derby which is not really working out, Ruler of The World could finish only seventh on this occasion.
The disappointment of the race was arguably Flintshire, who turned heads with his victory in the Grand Prix de Paris in July but failed to fire in the Niel and now the Arc. Leading Light, perhaps unsurprisingly on form, failed to make much impact too, though he had a rather torrid time of things in terms of getting a clear run in the straight and this effort is worth forgiving.
Of course, there are many valuable supporting races on Arc weekend, and one of the few Group 1s for stayers, the Qatar Prix du Cadran, took place approximately two hours after the Arc. Only fifth in the Gold Cup back in June, Altano found this contest much more to his liking, wearing down Marco Botti’s Tac de Boistron, who ran a blinder considering he raced keenly for much of the race, to win by two and a half lengths.
Tac de Boistron was technically the first British runner home behind the German-trained winner, but it was something of a return to familiar territory for him as he used to be a regular in French staying races, his best previous effort a win in the 2012 Prix Maurice de Nieuil. High Jinx was fancied by many, having finished second in last year’s Cadran, but he hasn’t really fired this term and looks set to end of the season on 110 after starting out on 113, having finished only fifth.
The other British raider, Times Up, who beat High Jinx in the Doncaster Cup, was a respectable third but I have him running below his rating of 112. The front pair pulled six lengths clear and this was clearly one of the best staying performances of the season. With a past figure of 115 on Tac de Boistron, I took the view that he had surely returned to at least that level, which gave me a figure of 118 for Altano, having called the two and a half lengths 3lb. On 118, Altano has put in the joint best performance in the staying division this year on my figures, the other being Voleuse de Coeurs in the Irish St Leger.
Maarek relishes the mud
The opening race on Arc day was the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp, and a well-contested lead through the early stages rather set things up for a couple coming from behind, writes Chris Nash.
The winner was the Irish-trained Maarek who had won a Group 3 at Newbury on his previous start. He is at his best in a well-run race on soft ground and so had everything in his favour on Sunday. He arrived in Paris with an Irish rating of 111 but had reached a mark of 114 when winning the British Champions Sprint at Ascot last year and I have him running to the same figure here – rather like the other French races this is just my opinion and has yet to be verified by the World Rankings Committee.
A short-neck behind Maarek was the French-trained Catcall, who for me shaped like the best horse for much of the race and could perhaps be considered an unlucky loser. He cruised through the majority of the contest and probably ended up in front that bit too soon as a result - he has a reputation for needing to be produced as late as possible. I have him on 113, which is a career-best, and could easily see him doing better again next year when things drop right.
The form looks solid judged on the British-trained third, fourth and fifth. Hamza is generally consistent and I have him producing yet another 108-performance in third, whilst Jwala and Reckless Abandon both have Group 1 successes to their name, but neither was seen to best effect. Reckless Abandon’s three-year-old season hasn’t quite matched up to his first campaign but there remains every chance that he can improve on this as an older horse if kept in training.
Tropical Paradise
Understandably the main focus of attention was at Longchamp this weekend, but there was also some high-class sprint action on these shores and the Dean Ivory-trained Tropics arguably posted a performance in advance of what Maarek did in the Abbaye when running away with the 6f Group 3 John Guest Bengough Stakes at Ascot, writes Stewart Copeland.
Tropics’ form has been on a gradual upward curve all season with the exception of a rare poor effort when sent off a well-backed favourite in the Ayr Gold Cup last time. He soon banished the memory of that run with an emphatic success at Ascot, taking his form to a level where Group 1 races are now firmly on the agenda. The Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot next year was mentioned by connections as his long term aim and on this evidence that’s a realistic target.
In analysing the race, both the historical and pre-race standards point to a figure in the 115-117 brackets. I eventually settled on 116, a 9lb rise from his pre-race rating of 107. Taking that view means that the second Music Master has also put up a career best, improving his rating from 103 to 108. The three-year-old colt Music Master had been exclusively campaigned over 7f this season, but often shaped as if he’d improve for a drop in trip. My colleague, who was on duty at Ascot, described him as very much a sprinter in appearance as well. Filling the frame were Hoof It and Heeraat, who both ran creditably and add further substance to the form.
Having been sold for $280,000 as a foal and then $700,000 as a yearling, Tropics didn’t see a racecourse until late in his four-year old season. He’s clearly now making up for lost time and it’s remarkable given what he’s achieved that the Ivory stable paid only 2,500 guineas for him. That’s what I call a bargain!
Seventh Heaven
The Betfred ‘Goals Galore’ Challenge Cup Handicap at Ascot on Saturday is one of the richest handicaps of the Flat season and it once again attracted a classy field, headed by Ascription, who came into the race rated 109, writes Mark Olley.
As an early closing race I am used to seeing many runners compete from a rating that has since been revised, but most unusually only one horse, Arnold Lane, was running from anything other than his current rating. He was due to drop by 1lb from the 108 he raced from to 107 and I have him running to that revised figure.
When I blogged about this race last year, I remember saying that I based the race around Arnold Lane, who finished third then, as he was so consistent. His rating has gone from 99 to 108, mainly due to a Group 3 win in Germany, but I find myself again basing the race around him, Redvers, Shamaal Nibras and Es Que Love who all finished in a heap for fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh.
The race went to the only three-year-old, Heaven’s Guest, who was ridden by late replacement Ryan Moore after his intended mount Wentworth was taken out. They were in a group tracking pacesetter Es Que Love, kicked for home inside the final furlong and then held the fast-finishing Bertiewhittle and Loving Spirit. Heaven’s Guest moves up 4lb to a new career-high rating of 104, while Bertiewhittle goes to 102 and Loving Spirit to 100.
Bertiewhittle has been something of a nearly horse this season having finished second in the Victoria Cup at Ascot in May and also in valuable handicaps at Newcastle and Doncaster. David Barron’s day was not made any better by second-favourite Big Johnny D hitting his head on the stalls and not running any sort of race.
Over at Redcar the listed totescoop6 EBF Guisborough Stakes was won in taking fashion by Top Notch Tonto. He has been very progressive this season, but there was an element of looking flattered about his Group 3 win at Haydock last time. He proved emphatically here that that was no fluke by conceding 5lb to the 110-rated Caspar Netscher.
I decided Caspar Netscher was more likely to have run to the 107 I had him running to when fourth in the Group 2 Park Stakes last time than the 110 he achieved when second to Garswood in the Group 2 Lennox at Goodwood. The race standards for the runner-up suggest a figure of 107 which also helped with my decision. All of the above means that Top Notch Tonto has a new rating of 115, which is the highest rating achieved by any horse in this race since it was granted listed status back in 2003.
Finally onto the Qatar Prix de la Foret at Longchamp which is the only Group 1 7f race run in Europe. As this race was on Sunday it technically falls into this coming week’s racing and any rating changes for the British runners won’t come into effect until Tuesday 15th October.
Gordon Lord Byron set an electric pace and rather teed the race up for the ultra-patiently-ridden Moonlight Cloud. She swept through under Thierry Jarnet to win going away by three lengths in a visually stunning style. I called the three lengths 8lb and have her moving up 1lb to a new mark of 123. This is just my opinion as I am only responsible for the British trained runners, though as such I can say that third-placed Garswood’s new rating is likely to be a career high 117 (up 6lb).

FEW of those at the head of the betting for Saturday's Betfred Cesarewitch have been done any favours by the draw.
With a lower draw generally favourable, Tiger Cliff has been drawn in 30 while Domination is in 16, Oriental Fox has stall 20 and Lieutenant Miller is in stall 32. Big Easy is in 36, with Platinum in 21.
Ante-post gamble Smoky Hill is drawn best of those contesting favouritism in stall 14 while Sir Mark Prescott's Pallasator is in seven. Clowance Estate has stall two while Chiberta King, with Oisin Murphy taking 5lb off his back, has stall one.
With only one turn, a 90-degree right-hander, the draw is surprisingly influential for a 2m2f handicap and Pallasator, an 11-1 shot, has a lot in his favour and with rain forecast his jockey Luke Morris feels everything is right for a big run.
Pallasator, who was fourth on his only start at two, raced three times last year and remained unbeaten. He made his first start of 2013 at Haydock last month, finishing third behind Platinum in the Old Borough Cup.
Morris feels that run will have helped put his mount spot-on for his big target and reports he has been working well since. "I've been really pleased with him at home and there are showers forecast, which should suit him," said Morris.
"Hopefully he'll build on his run at Haydock. He has been in a proper race at Haydock the last day and you would hope that he would come on as that was his first race. The step up to two and a quarter miles should suit him as well."
It is perhaps also significant that Prescott has deemed the four-year-old worthy of an entry in next week's Group 3 Long Distance Cup on British Champions Day.
Capellanus and Aleksandar are the two reserves for the 34-runner, £250,000 heritage handicap.
On the same card Anjaal, Cable Bay, Friendship, Outstrip, Stormardal and War Command make up the Dewhurst field while Astaire, Great White Eagle, Hot Streak, Saayerr, Shamshon, Sudirman and Supplicant are among the 13 in the Middle Park.

16:40 Thursday 10th October Racing Tips - 10/10/2013
First National Hunt selection for some time and it's a horse I know quite well. Qianshan Leader had to wait until April last year to get any sort of run on the good ground he needs and that came at a time when the yard was in terrible form. His best effort was at Taunton off 8lb higher in tougher company than this and he has to be off a handy mark today. He was 3rd of 6 over course and distance off 6lb higher later in April in a first time visor but he tends to be more consistent with the cheekpieces that are back on today. I know the trainer has concerns the ground may actually be too quick this afternoon but he has won on good to firm before and I can't see him out of the places at 6/1, especially given the current yard form. Kim Bailey has also had a superb start to the season and I'll throw some money behind Bishophill Jack who is going the other way to the selection and running off a mark that was too lofty last season. Unraced on quicker than good is a concern but yard vibes are good about this 7 year old back from a summer break and the best is yet to come. Exeter 15.20 - Qianshan Leader 1pt e/w
Lack of pace sums up the 6 furlong class 6 handicap at Ayr this afternoon and that somewhat rules out the well treated Alexandrakollontai and Black Douglas for me, though the latter can and may race a little more prominently. The 2 I do like are a couple of Linda Perratt trained runners in the form of Saxonette and Rock Canyon. The former is certainly off a workable mark and I've put her up here before when she ran well at Hamilton over a furlong shorter last month. I'm not sure she wants the ground to come up too soft but P J McDonald has a really good recent record on her. Connor Beasley is often the go-to claimer for the yard when wanting to take off a useful few pounds and he rode Saxonette last time out. This time he is atop Rock Canyon who has a far better record at Hamilton than he does at Ayr. However, a closer look at his Ayr runs shows he is yet to race in today's circumstances, which should be ideal. A winner at 5 and 6 furlongs, one of those on soft ground, his 4 course and distance starts have either come on quick ground or in far better company than this but he is capable of a win in this class of a mark of 50. Competetive last year off 63, the hope is he is raced prominently enough to mount a challenge come the finish at 18/1. Ayr 15.10 - Rock Canyon 1pt e/w
Feature race at Ayr is another that lacks pace in depth but the three coming out of stalls 9, 10 and 11 should ensure a fair gallop between them. Of those, Ralphy Boy must have a great chance of dictating things but this is a step up on previous efforts, for all that he is in great form. Another For Joe was outpaced over 7 furlongs here last time and should fare better up at a mile today. His last win came over 9 furlongs at Hamilton on heavy ground off 4lb higher and he has perhaps his best form over 1 mile 2 furlongs so a crawl will not suit. He has led before though and there's every chance he will not race at the very back of the pack with a few hold up horses in the field and should definitely be competitive off a lowest handicap mark since debut in this sphere last May. He has form in this class and I'm a little surprised he is a double-figure price at 11/1. The other worth support could be Irish traveller Star Links who has an impressive record when partnered by Robert Winston and ran a cracker over course and distance in August. Ayr 16.40 - Another For Joe 1pt e/w

Brown Panther will not have a prep run in Australia before the Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 5. Brown Panther takes the Goodwood Cup earlier this season An impressive winner of the Goodwood Cup before being forced to miss the Irish St Leger with a temperature, the five-year-old ran a perfectly satisfactory race when fifth over an inadequate 10 furlongs in a Goodwood Listed race late last month. Tom Dascombe's inmate, who is jointly-owned by Michael Owen, will make the trip to Australia next Thursday, but will not have an outing before the main event. Dascombe said: "He's in Newmarket [in quarantine] at the moment. He worked yesterday, everything went very well, and his flight is booked for a week today. "He won't be having a run beforehand once he gets to Australia, he'll be going straight for the big race." ) The Cheshire handler also confirmed stable jockey Richard Kingscote, who was replaced by Kieren Fallon on Brown Panther for a brief period before regaining the ride, would be on board in Melbourne. Dascombe said: "Richard (Kingscote) is going out to ride him and I'll go out a week before the race. We're all looking forward to it." Kerrin McEvoy will partner the Willie Mullins-trained Simenon when he makes his Australian debut at Caulfield on Saturday. Runner-up in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot before narrowly beaten in the Lonsdale Cup at York, the six-year-old last month made the journey to Australia in the hope of getting a run in the Melbourne Cup. As he is not guaranteed a starting berth, Simenon lines up in the Herbert Power Stakes over a mile and half in the hope of getting the penalty which is likely to get him into the race. McEvoy, who enjoyed a successful stint in Europe for Sheikh Mohammed's operation before relocating to his homeland, will be chasing back-to-back wins in the Herbert Power after guiding Alain de Royer-Dupre's French raider Shahwardi to victory 12 months ago. The jockey told "You can't put them all in the same box, they are different horses. "The French train a little bit differently to the Irish and Shahwardi had a bit of ping in him when he got here. "I'll have to see if Simenon has the zip to be competitive over a mile and a half and we won't know that until the day."

Lady Cecil will be fulfilling one final ambition for the season if Tiger Cliff can secure his second major handicap in Saturday's Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket. Tiger Cliff: Heads a maximum field Henry Ponsonby's consistent four-year-old went through the motions on a bleak Warren Hill on Thursday morning as he continued his preparations for the two-and-a-quarter-mile battle just a short hop away on the Rowley Mile, for which he is the sponsors' 7/1 co-favourite, but 9/1 with Sky Bet. It will be Tiger Cliff's first start since his emotional victory in the Ebor at York, on a course Cecil's late husband Sir Henry was very fond of. Never unplaced in seven outings to date, the top weight was a brave second in the Ascot Stakes on his previous appearance. As she watched Tiger Cliff pass by under work rider Luis Villarroel, Lady Cecil said: "It's a very open race and plenty of good horses in there, like the Irish horse (Domination) and those from Sir Mark Prescott (Pallasator) and Nicky Henderson (Lieutenant Miller and Earth Amber). It will be very competitive. "Henry won it once, and we'd settle for winning it once as well. We've been very lucky having good winners at Ascot, Goodwood and York, but to have a win at home would be fantastic. "He has done all his work now. Michael Prosser (Newmarket clerk of the course) has said there is some rain forecast, and that would be appreciated." While Lady Cecil is a reluctant interviewee, she finds enough positive aspects of her job to have decided to continue training from Warren Place next season. "It helps having such a good group of people around you, and it's enjoyable," she said. "I really enjoy being out with the horses, but it's rather different weather at this stage of the season." Tiger Cliff, who will start from stall 30 under Tom Queally, is one of two major contenders for Ponsonby. The owner's red and white colours will also be carried by the Henderson-trained Lieutenant Miller, who will be partnered by Ryan Moore and is also drawn high in stall 32. Henderson also saddles the Richard Hughes-ridden Earth Amber (stall five) as he searches his third Cesarewitch success following the previous wins of Landing Light (2003) and Caracciola (2008). Prescott has never won the Cesarewitch and has endured more than his fair share of disappointments in the race, such as the gambled-on favourites Hasten To Add and Alleluia. Pallasator won all three of his starts last season but did not reappear until last month's Old Borough Cup at Haydock, where he stayed on for third. "He is fourth favourite and he has definitely got enough class to win the Cesarewitch, but he is not easy and not straightforward and whether he will stay two and a quarter miles is very much in doubt," said the master of Heath House. "The dangers are the horses like Lady Cecil's, and as a Flat trainer I strongly disapprove of these National Hunt horses, usually skilfully trained by Nicky Henderson, but I hope his class sees him through." The Charles Byrnes-trained Domination is another towards the head of the betting in the 34-runner field, despite being significantly higher in the weights than when winning the Cesarewitch Trial over the course and distance last September. A dual winner over hurdles at Cork in August, the six-year-old is drawn down the middle in stall 16 and will be partnered by Fran Berry. Mikel Delzangles' French raider Smoky Hill (14) has been heavily supported, while other major contenders include Oriental Fox (20), Big Easy (36) and Platinum (21). The two reserves are Capellanus (29) and Aleksandar (10). Royal Western India Turf Club officials are remaining tightlipped over the Martin Dwyer case until they have heard from the British Horseracing Authority over their decision not to reciprocate the jockey's 56-day riding ban. Dwyer: Ban was not reciprocated The Derby-winning jockey made a number of visits to the subcontinent to argue his case after it was alleged he did not ride the filly Ice Age on her merits at Mahalaxmi in February. At one stage the suspension was increased to eight months on appeal by the board of appeal of the RWITC. The ban was subsequently returned to 56 days on a second appeal, but the BHA said on Wednesday that Dwyer's ban would not be imposed in Britain. Adi Narielwala, chairman of the RWITC board of appeal, said the Indian racing governing body is now awaiting the reasons behind the BHA's stance. He said: "At this stage there is no comment. "We will wait until we receive the papers from the BHA and look at them carefully before giving our thoughts." Dwyer always maintained that he was innocent of any wrongdoing, and that his mount had not moved correctly and that she had suffered a nosebleed during the race. Sadakshara Padmanabhan, Dwyer's Indian-based representative throughout the lengthy appeal process, said the RWITC had mishandled the case from the outset. He said: "I had full faith the BHA would not reciprocate this ban as there were so many things wrong with the whole inquiry. "I feel that the RWITC stewards did not do a very good job at all in this particular case. "The horse had a history of bleeding and they did not take this on board at all. They did not know how the horse would react on a racecourse and what levels of stress it was under. "There was also no leading evidence to enhance the punishment. This cannot be done in a law court, it can only be done in a high court. "I think they (the stewards) should be more careful in future when they mete out punishments, as this isn't the first time something like this has happened in India."

Worcester, 10 October 2013
4.30, fifth race
The Stewards’ held an enquiry under (B) 11.6, into the circumstances surrounding the bypassing of the third last hurdle, following the fall of COURT APPEAL (IRE). They interviewed Andrew Thornton, the rider of SPIKE MAC (IRE), placed third, and the Clerk of the Course. Andrew Thornton stated that he could see there was a horse down on the other side of the hurdle and having heard a groundsman ask him to stop, he decided to pull up. He then waited until the bypass was set up and continued to complete the course. The Clerk of the Course confirmed that there was insufficient time to both attend to the fallen horse and deploy the bypassing procedure. Having viewed a video recording of the incident the Stewards’ were satisfied that all parties had acted in the interest of safety and that Andrew Thornton had bypassed the hurdle correctly. They therefore ordered the placing’s to remain unaltered,

Ayr, 10 October 2013
2.40, third race
The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into the start and the possible withdrawal of LAYLA’S HERO (IRE), drawn 4, ridden by Adrian Nicholls. Having viewed recordings of the start the Stewards found that the gelding had reared and unseated its rider on leaving the stalls. Being satisfied that the rider had been in the saddle at the time the race was started they therefore deemed LAYLA’S HERO (IRE) to have started.
3.10, fourth race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, ALEXANDRAKOLLONTAI (IRE), ridden by Julie Burke and trained by Alistair Whillans, compared with its previous run at Ayr on 1 October 2013 where the filly finished ninth, beaten 19½ lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that ALEXANDRAKOLLONTAI (IRE) had broken better from the stalls on this occasion. They ordered ALEXANDRAKOLLONTAI (IRE) to be routine tested.
The Stewards noted that MY BOY BILL, placed third, had interfered with the winner ALEXANDRAKOLLONTAI (IRE), in the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
3.40, fifth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, DARK OPAL (IRE), ridden by Joey Haynes, had interfered with KHEFYN (IRE), placed third, ridden by Raul Da Silva. The Stewards found Haynes in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift right when insufficiently clear. They cautioned him as to his future conduct in races.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Noel Garbutt, the rider of LUCY BEE, unplaced, had appeared not to keep straight from the stalls. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the start they found him in breach of Rule (B)45.2 and suspended him for 1 day as follows: Thursday 24 October 2013.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, DARK OPAL (IRE), ridden by Joey Haynes and trained by John Weymes, compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 24 September 2013 where the filly finished seventh, beaten 9½ lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that DARK OPAL (IRE) had benefited from a break of 16 days. They ordered DARK OPAL (IRE) to be routine tested.
4.40, seventh race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Oisin Murphy, the rider of SILVER RIME (FR), had been slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the start they accepted his explanation that due to a combination of the gelding shaking his head around in the stalls and the blindfold being tucked tightly under the bridle he had had difficulty removing it.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, INGLEBY SYMPHONY (IRE), ridden by Patrick Mathers, had interfered with HIGH RESOLUTION, unplaced, ridden by Samantha Bell. The Stewards found Mathers in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left without taking sufficient steps to prevent interference. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Thursday 24 and Friday 25 October 2013.
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Starter that STAR LINKS (USA), trained by Shane Donohoe, had refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test. This being the second occasion within the previous 12 months that STAR LINKS (USA) had been reported, the Stewards informed the trainer that if the gelding were reported for a third time within the same period, STAR LINKS (USA) would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
5.10, eighth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference shortly after the start. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that HELLBENDER (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Shirley Teasdale, had interfered with IMPERIAL BOND, unplaced, ridden by Kevin Stott. The Stewards found Teasdale in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that she manoeuvred left when insufficiently clear. They suspended her for 2 days as follows: Thursday 24 and Friday 25 October 2013.
10/10/2013
Exeter, 10 October 2013
4.50, sixth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Jack Quinlan the rider of RESIDENCE AND SPA (IRE), on the home bend. They were unable to interview the rider owing to his injuries. Having viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by the gelding clipping the heels of CASH INJECTION. Being satisfied that the incident was accidental, the Stewards took no further action.
10/10/2013
Kempton Park, 10 October 2013
6.10, second race
The record of vaccinations in the passport of ONE PICTURE, trained by Richard Hannon, had been altered. The Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (E)19.5 and fined him £80.
6.40, third race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the unruly behavior of PRINCESS TAMAY (IRE), ridden by Liam Jones, which had been unruly on the way to the start. They interviewed the rider and the trainer’s representative. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings the Stewards informed the trainer that future similar behaviour may result in the filly being reported to the British Horseracing Authority.
7.10, fourth race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, TAMARKUZ (USA), ridden by Dane O’Neill and trained by Saeed bin Suroor, compared with its previous run at Newmarket on 21 September 2013 where the colt finished last of seventeen, beaten by 121 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the colt was better suited by the all-weather surface. They ordered TAMARKUZ (USA) to be routine tested.
