chased leaders, driven along over 4f out, led on inside 2f out, held on towards finish

chased leaders, kept on well final furlong
Veiled Applause (+2) was 3.35l 4th
Decent enough effort at Doncaster, although had had a prior spin on the AW at Wolverhampton. Meets Veiled Applause on exactly the same terms today, aaaaand while there was little between them he should be better suited by the drop back in trip, though would prefer softer underfoot conditions. Well in on his best form, but needs to improve on Doncaster run.

led, raced against near side rail in straight, narrowly headed over 1f out, soon led again, fought on well final furlong

in touch, headway to press leaders 3f out, led just over 2f out, soon ridden and headed, no chance with winner final furlong, kept on
Showed promise as a 3yo and likely to show improvement as a 4yo. Won fto last season, so break not necessarily a negative, especially as the stable’s going well.
Others:
Veiled Applause – only just behind Kingsdale Orion at Doncaster and re-opposes on same terms. However, 8f would seem to be on the short side for him nowadays.
Intabih – showed nothing on in 3 career runs on Turf. However, quickly took to the AW when tried on that surface last autumn, winning at Wolverhampton and Great Leighs in October. Returned from a break at Southwell at the start of last month and just got the better of Ours (-12lbs); meets him on 2lbs worse terms today and may not confirm that running with the C&D winner.
Never easy with early season races in deciding who is likely to be fit, but my two against the field here would be Kingsdale Orion and Dunn’o, aand even though the ground may be against the former he would get my nod.
Sadly, non-runners have decimated the 4.10 and it is now no longer a betting medium, so we’re left with just the one race today.
