Trawling through my paper archive of many years I came across the following system (shows how much paper I have archived) and thought that could be of interest to many younger punters A Simple System Superior to Most (SCHB and Sporting Life Guide September 29, 1967) Dum Spiro Spero (While I breathe I hope), Newport – selected quotes:- “I have been working this system for the past 20 years (takes us back to 1947) and made a profit each year...which is what we small punters chase. I usually wager on Saturdays only with my normal each-way efforts.” “Check the betting forecast and select those races that show the first favourite at 5/2 and longer to choose from , nothing below that. A race must have 8 or more runners, but not more than 12. Select the first three horses in the betting forecast of two races. Number them 1, 2, 3 in the first race and 4, 5, 6 in the second and now couple them for nine win and place doubles as follows – 14, 15, 16, 24, 25, 26, 34, 35, 36." These are my two 'test on paper' races for today: (swerved sprints and non hcaps) Odds from the early betting market not the forecast prices. New 4.00 Persuasion (11/2), Hickory (6/1), Mister Bluebird (6/1) Hay 7.10 Brian The Snail (7/2), Dandy Dinmont (9/2), Riversway (9/2)
