Well managed to get one placed yesterday. Let’s hope the luck holds out for another day!
Sandown 2.30 Cl 2 Handicap 156 (95.0) 10f gd/sf – 10 Run
3yo = 7lbs wfa allowance
Last year – 280 (92.3) gd/fm – 9 ran
Hyanna 10/1 4-8-3 (90) Dr 3 by 0.25l form Migration 9/4 F 3-8-7 (94) Dr 6
Hyanna 5-9-6 (99) Dr 9 (194.0)
’19 record: 2/4/11 Best: 182.3 off 90 carrying 8-10
’20 record: 11/1/3 Best: 192.1 off 96 carrying 9-4
09/08/20 Cl 2 Hcap (129/95.2) 12f gd/fm Ascot 9-4 22/1 2/13 0.1l off 97 – 192.1
raced keenly in 3rd, pushed along over 2f out, went 2nd inside final 100 yards and closed, not reach winner
Plus: class (W); going (F); distance (W); course (W); form run lto (15 days);
Minus: up 2lbs (wt); up 2lbs (OR);
Verdict: runs off a 9lbs higher mark than when successful last year, but has no doubt improved as has won off 94 and narrowly beaten off 97 in same Ascot race he was 6th last year; regular jockey takes a handy 5lbs off; a contender again this year.
Data Protection 5-8-6 (85) Dr 3 (180.0)
’19 record: 2/4/11 Best: 161.7 off 85 carrying 9-10
’20 record: 1/1/5 Best: 174.4 off 85 carrying 8-9
10/08/20 Cl 2 Hcap (129/94.8) 10.5f gd Chest 8-9 11/2 3/8 3.75l off 85 – 174.4
pressed leader, led over 7f out, ridden over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, no extra in 3rd final 100 yards
Plus: class (W); going (W); distance (W); course (W); form run lto (13 days); down 3lbs (wt);
Minus:
Verdict: won off 81 at Newmarket on penultimate start, but found the extra half furlong a little too much off the new mark at Chester; might find the mark a little high, but no 12/1 shot.
Muraad 4-9-7 (100) Dr 1 (195.0)
’19 record: 1/2/4 Best: 172.0 off 88 carrying 9-7
’20 record: 1/2/3 Best: 192.3 off 93 carrying 9-0
01/08/20 Cl 3 App Hcap (95/86.4) 9f gd/fm Good 10-0 9/2 F 1/14 0.5l off 95 – 181.4
held up in rear of mid-division, pushed along and switched towards inner over 2f out, ridden between horses over 1f out, ran on strongly to lead final strides
Plus: class (F); going (F); course (F); form run lto (22 days); down 7lbs (wt);
Minus: distance (?); up 5lbs (OR); up in class; up in trip;
Verdict: improving sort and way he finished last time suggests he should get the trip; up 5lbs though and may find it hard to give 6lbs to last year’s winner.
Victory Chime 5-8-13 (92) Dr 5 (187.0)
’19 record 3/0/7 Best: 172.8 off 87 carrying 9-9
120 record 1/0/1 Best: 175.4 off 90 carrying 10-0
09/08/20 Cl 3 Hcap (67/85.4) 10f gd/fm Wind 10-0 7/1 1/5 0.1l off 90 – 175.4
tracked leader and clear of field, leader had reduced lead 6f out, ridden over 2f out, sustained challenge to lead entering final furlong, held on gamely near finish
Plus: distance (W); course (W); form run lto (14 days); down 15lbs (wt);
Minus: class; going; up 2lbs (OR); up in class;
Verdict: good record though only up to Cl 3, but will appreciate the low weight today.
I think that Hyanna offers far better to do the double than Muraad trying the trip for the first time. In third place may come Victory Chime who is a C&D winner.
