Yesterday I was unable to get onto the internet after I has closed mu computer down. In the end I rang BT and was on the line for over an hour and got nowhere. In fact the woman who was dealing with me stated she would have to end the call as she was going off duty and would ring me between 9-11 Sunday morning. Still no connection. I finished up speaking to a supervisor who was not much better speaking to other people round her whilst dealing with me. In the end they stated it was not a fault at their end but was my computer. As it happens this was correct but the service I got from BT was terrible. Anyway the way I found out it was at my end was the fact that an old tower system computer I have got could access the internet but not my lap top. After shaking it, hitting it with a hammer doing a system restore which it stated it could not do because something else was running which it wasn't, I remember that I had done an update on my AVG earlier in the day. I removed AVG and got the internet back. I then downloaded AVG again and lost it again. So I of course removed it and things seem alright now. I have used AVG for years and never had problems before with it. Its a puzzle. I have not go AVG on at the moment.

I got a bill from them today for a phone line that I had discontinued (and fully paid up) about 16 month ago. It was for £6 + VAT. £4 of it was for paper billing and the other £2 was because there was no direct debit set up on the account. Is it me? I called them and they kindly agreed to cancel the bill, with no hint of an apology. I wonder whether I could bill them for wasting 15 minutes of my life?
Did you get your AVG re-loaded? There is probably a setting to allow internet. Might be through the firewall. I'm sure you won't be alone - get googlin'. Here's a few to start you off... www.google.co.uk/search...
