I took a prescription into a Boots chemist away from my home area the other day and they were unable to give me all the items on it so they gave me what they could, and also a receipt to the effect that Boots owed me part of the prescription. I then called at another Boots with the receipt and was told that I had got to go back to the original store to collect the rest of the items as they could not supply me with them. I telephoned Boots HQ and was told this was company policy. As luck would have it the store is only about 20 miles from where I live so the next time I am in the area I will collect the items. Worth knowing though for future reference if you cannot collect your prescription in full and are away from home perhaps on holiday.
