It's been a long campaign, and this old warhorse is weary.
Pitiful offerings today - place only on CAST OF STARS 4.10 Kempton.
B Smart has got his 2yos in decent recent form and SPEEDY JOE could well run well at a big price in the Wolves 5.50 - but I'll leave this one alone.

Thanks for the welcome Men.
CAST OF STARS won at 6/4, returned 1.32 Betfair SP place-only.
Not much for the War Chest at that price, but enough for some bandages to plug the stab wounds thanks to a generous BOGOF offer.
Back to Mount Ida again - well, it IS Saturday night.

I have been following Jo Crowley's 2yos.
Today she runs the filly DESTINY OF DREAMS in the Ling 1.00. However, the price looks poor value when looking at the quality of the trainers in this race. I've built my campaign on value ew betting, not place-only betting at skinny odds - so shall sit this one out today.
I'm nearly tempted by MEGAN MAY 28/1 in the 2.50 bumper at Southwell AW today. But not quite everything lines up once again.

Bummer with Megan May Trojan. Not really Kev, it's a bummer when I back them and they don't place. Could have been worse, imagine if she had won Last week I backed a horse place-only at 3.05 and it won at 20/1. I was more mad at that one

In the 1.20 Lingfield maiden, the odds-on fav Hawaafez looks vulnerable.
The obvious alternative seems to be AL KHATMA 7/2.
However, if playing a risky one, I wouldn't rule out SECOYA 25/1 and even IGITUR 100/1.

Well I wuz wrong and Hawaafez won at 8/11 and the places filled by the 2nd and 3rd favs at 5/2 and 5/1.
IGITUR ran a good race though for the odds - leading for most of the race until tiring and coming 5th. Betfair SP place-only was 18.5 and traded as low as 3.00 (for £110) in-running, so plenty of scope for stake retrieval...and a bit more

Thank you Men. My next Labor is proving to be far more elusive than finding a 16/1 winner. It is to find a Zhu Zhu Princess

Made a rare trek to Woolworths to seek the Princess - seems it's now closed!! Looked at the maidens today. In the Lingfield 12.35 we have SUSPENDER BELT whose race notes reads for her debut LTO Held up towards the rear. Which is a good place for a suspender belt if it's doing it's job...and a good place to be in a race at Lingfield AW where all the late action comes from the rear (especially if one partakes in too much warm ale there). I shall leave this race well alone, far too competitive. In the 1.05, I would rather have EZZLES ew @ 14/1 than Kingscroft @ 4/1 and have thus availed myself of such for a sniff.

Thanks BC, Today's Nag could of run better for me Well what a flippin disappointment. I thought I did well to lay my win part of the bet at 7.0 on Buttfair....only to see it backed into sub 5.0 immediately afterwards. Can you believe the SP was 7/2 and it was unplaced - never in the race?

Sad news indeed about Seve Ballesteros.
By strange coincidence, there is a horse named BALLESTEROS running in the 2.30 Haydock today.
This 2yo debutant trained by Meehan was fp 16/1 and is currently as low as 4/1 with some bookies.
Not a selection, just an interesting observation.

BALLESTEROS ran a credible race, backed down to 1.4 in-running. finished 3rd @ 7/1.
I shouldn't really be looking at the Leopardstown 3.15, a maiden for 3yo+ as it is represented by many high-class Sires.
It seems the market is finding it hard to split the 2 O'Brien runners for favouritism.
Nantucket Bay 7/2 is an unraced colt by Giant's Causeway, whilst Admiral Of The Red 4/1 s a colt by Galileo with one run under his belt.
O'Brien has a better record with debutant 3yos in maidens at Leopardstown, but I wouldn't like to choose between them.
I'm not that keen on Brown Butterfly at 6/1, and for the same price would rather go for Oxx's LONG JOURNEY HOME
