Two things I have recently learnt about parking meters.
The other day I used a parking meter and after depositing £2.70 no ticket came out. I pressed the button for my money back and it only returned 70p. I then went to another meter on the same car park and obtained a £2.70p ticket. I contacted the local council and eventually got my money back. LESSON ONE: When you get to the car park try and wait until you see somebody get a ticket from a machine so you know it is working properly. I know it might go wrong when its your turn but at least it was working up until then.
On a different day I was on another car park and the price to park was 80p for one hour. £1.40 two hours etc. I wanted to park for two hours so got a hand full of change and deposited £1.30 in the machine pressed the button and got a parking ticket for 1 hour. This is not a typing error yes I only deposited £1.30 instead of £1.40. The machine stated 'no change given' so I had paid £1.30 for 1 hour actual cost was only 80p losing the 50p. LESSON TWO: At the pay machine have the right amount of money in your hand and then you cannot under or over feed it. Its an easy thing to do when you are not fully concentrating on what you are doing.
