It's a nasty old world out there isn't it? I had a phone call from Windows Support Service this morning claiming they were an official Microsoft Windows appointed company that receive error messages from Windows machines, and that my computer was infected by Spyware and they wanted to "help" me sort it out. He gave me a credible 'phone number and website, stating his name was Edward Robinson (in an asian accent). Not THE Edward G Robinson then I thought! I told him I didn't believe who he said he was and terminated the call. I did some googing and sure enough, it's a scam, probably to get access to your PC, although in some instances it looks like they also try to charge you for their "service". BE CAREFUL.

I had a similar thing before Christmas (spookily the day after I had re-installed Windows) asking me if I wanted help removing all the virus and spyware problems from my PC. I just told them I didn't have a computer and asked given that fact how could they help me resolve the problems I didn't have on a computer that I didn't own - they just hung up.

Since the original call, I've had two more of these idiots ring now. Another Windows something-or-other and today 'E-Pro'. Both got a verbal hiding.
