FLAT racing will be staged at Wetherby for the first time in the course's 123-year history with the news a fixture has been allocated for April 26,2015.
Following the conclusion of the first stage of racecourse fixture moves for 2015 during the development of next year's fixture list, the BHA informed Wetherby its application to stage Flat racing had been successful.
A trial over a series of distances at the course on June 10 was widely praised by jockeys and trainers alike. PJ McDonald, one of the jockeys to take part in the trial, said at the time: "You could race around here tomorrow - the bends are that well graded. It's class."
Although the primary focus for Wetherby will remain jump racing, the course will attempt to acquire additional BHA leasehold fixtures for next season over both codes.
Course chief executive Jonjo Sanderson said: "We are delighted to have been allocated our first Flat raceday on Sunday, April 26 next year.
"This day is a conversion of an existing jumps fixture, which had been scheduled to take place the previous Sunday.
"The rationale behind the introduction of Flat racing at Wetherby is to try and grow our business and attract a new customer base to Wetherby, as well as achieving a greater utilisation of the excellent equine and customer facilities that the racecourse has to offer.
"This should not be seen as a step towards the end of jump racing at Wetherby - in fact the opposite. Any Flat racing fixtures we secure will be supplementary to our core activity of jump racing and provide vital support to Wetherby's jump racing programme." =====================================

William Haggas is hoping conditions remain on the fast side as Muthmir bids to follow up last week's York success in the 32Red Cup (Stewards' Cup) at Goodwood on Saturday. Muthmir: Stewards' Cup favourite The four-year-old leapt to the head of the market for this historic six-furlong handicap when running away with the Skybet Dash on the Knavesmire and a 6lb penalty ensured him a place in the line-up. "Muthmir looks like he's shaping up into a nice horse. He was impressive at York last week, hopefully he'll run well," said Haggas. "He's fine, but he needs fast ground, which I think he's going to get." Haggas has won this race twice in the past and last year's victor, Rex Imperator, goes for back-to-back triumphs. He has been highly-tried in his last two starts, finishing down the field in the King's Stand Stakes and Darley July Cup. The five-year-old reverts to a handicap for the first time since this race 12 months ago. "Rex ran very well first time then ran two poor races in admittedly strong company. This will be more his go. I don't have huge confidence in him," said the Newmarket trainer. "They're drawn on either side of the track (Muthmir in stall two and Rex Imperator 26) and one will be on the right side." Intrinsic had been a leading ante-post fancy for the Wokingham at Royal Ascot, but did not make the cut. Robert Cowell's lightly-raced four-year-old has at least got into this big sprint handicap. He has won both his starts this season, at Ascot and Goodwood, and his trainer is looking forward to this challenge with the son of Oasis Dream. "The target was Ascot, but we didn't make the cut there, so this has been the target since he didn't get in there. We've always had this on the agenda," he said. "He's in really good form and he's ready for it. "These races are a lottery which is why it's usually 7-1, 8-1 the field. "You need a bit of luck in running, but we were keen on a draw (22) roughly where we are because I wanted to be around where the speed was and that seems to be where the speed is and it wouldn't matter if there was any rain at all." "We feel a strongly-run six furlongs will be right up his street and if it wasn't for the fact there are 28 runners and we're going to need plenty of luck in running, we'd be pretty confident. "There is a possibility of some rain. I'd probably prefer it to stay away as he's been running really well on fast ground of late, but at the same time he has run well on soft in the past, so I'm not overly concerned either way." Michael Wigham believes there could be more improvement to come from Fairway To Heaven, who warmed up for this big test with victory at Windsor five weeks ago. "He was a late developing horse and has only run nine times in his life," said the Newmarket trainer. "We were pleased with him at Windsor last time and hopefully he goes there with a decent each-way chance. "I think there's still a few pounds in the locker." Ninjago bids to improve on his fifth place in this race last summer and his trainer Richard Hannon, who also saddles Expert, has drawn a line through his latest effort in the Wokingham. "Ninjago was in no-mans land in the Wokingham, having been drawn in the middle, so he has run well under the circumstances," he told www.richardhannonracing.co.uk. "He loves these big field handicaps - he ran a blinder to finish fifth in this race last year off the same mark - so, hopefully, he'll again be in the money. "It is always tough for three-year-olds, Expert has looked a different horse at home since he was gelded and we think it is well worth a stab."

Freddy Head would not be scared of having another crack at Kingman with Charm Spirit in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day. Freddy Head: Trains Charm Spirit The two met in the 2000 Guineas with Kingman claiming second and Charm Spirit finishing fifth. Kingman has gone on to prove himself as the best miler around but Charm Spirit is building up his own record nicely, winning twice at Chantilly. He landed a Group Three prize before taking the Group One Prix Jean Prat, turning around the 2000 Guineas form with Shifting Power who was marginally in front of him at Newmarket. "He's a very nice horse, he's very tough and improving," said Head. "I like him a lot, maybe we'll aim him at the Queen Elizabeth at Ascot, that could be his target. "I think we might bypass the summer with him, then keep him fresh for the end of the season. "We won't be scared of Kingman if he turns up, we weren't too far behind him in the Guineas. "Charm Spirit wasn't well that day, either, he didn't enjoy the journey over and looking at him in the paddock I didn't think he looked in great shape. "He's improved a lot since then."

Aidan O'Brien expressed a slight concern about the 10-furlong trip Venus De Milo will face in Saturday's Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. Venus De Milo (right): Goodwood hopeful The four-year-old has run over a mile and a quarter just twice in her nine-race career, winning a Listed race at Naas on her second start and on her most recent outing when second to Thistle Bird in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh. Runner up in the Irish Oaks last July, she ran over a mile and three-quarters on her comeback this season behind Missunited in the Savel Beg Stakes. "She'll love the fast ground. A mile and a quarter is as short as she'd want to go, but she's in good form and she could run here and then go to York (Yorkshire Oaks)," said O'Brien. "She's in good form. We have to keep her busy as she's a difficult horse to keep fit. It (the trip) is probably as tight as she wants to go, but we think the track will suit her well." Her main market rival is the French challenger Narniyn, trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre. The Aga Khan-owned filly had won four on the bounce before stepping up in class and trip for the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud last time out. She was not disgraced in fourth, beaten two lengths by Arc-bound Spiritjim and Lady Cecil's Noble Mission. "Narniyn looks very well and she did a good piece of work on Monday," said De Royer-Dupre. "She did not show her true ability when finishing fourth in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud last time as the race came too soon for her after she had won a Group Three at Longchamp. "I also feel that she is much better over this mile and a quarter rather than the mile and a half at Saint-Cloud. "It looks a very open race, the only problem could be the turn and the up and down nature of the course. But there is a long home straight and Narniyn is very easy to ride and has good balance. "She would prefer good ground - last year she won a Listed race at Chantilly very easily when it was riding good to firm and although she won the (Group Three) Prix de Flore on very soft, I don't think that was ideal for her. "Goodwood is a beautiful track and I like going there as it is not too far to get to. I have yet to have a winner there but have gone close with both Mandesha (runner-up in this race in 2007) and Jehannedarc (second in the 2012 Lilly Langtry Stakes)." The Aga Khan's racing manager Georges Rimaud said: "She is a nice filly and it is a case of so far so good. "She ran an OK race at Saint-Cloud where the ground was a bit too soft for her and the mile and a half is probably a little bit too far. "I think she will appreciate better ground, so I hope we get that at Goodwood, and the mile and a quarter will be more suitable for her as well." This time last year Ed Dunlop's Amazing Maria looked to have a very bright future when winning a maiden at this meeting by six lengths. She returned to Goodwood to win a Group Three but has been held back by a series of minor issues this season, preventing her from running in the Guineas and the only time she has run she was tailed off in the Investec Oaks. Dunlop said: "I don't want the ground to be rattling, but hopefully the ground is nice as the plan has always been to go to Goodwood. "The Oaks didn't go as we hoped - it was a bad time for all my horses - and we didn't learn anything because she didn't stay. "We have been very happy with her recently. She was a very good two-year-old and is obviously two from two at Goodwood, but we are still finding out about her. "We have always rated her very highly and hopefully we will learn something about her at the weekend." Richard Hannon's Lustrous ran a fine race to be second in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot, but she was well beaten in the Irish Oaks last time out. "Lustrous has plenty on her plate in the Nassau Stakes, but she ran as well as we could have hoped in the Irish Oaks - she split the Epsom Oaks runner-up and Irish 1,000 Guineas winner - and it does not look the strongest renewal," said Hannon on www.richardhannonracing.co.uk. Sir Michael Stoute runs Mango Diva, a Group Two winner at the Curragh last time out, while John Gosden has declared both Sultanina and Eastern Belle, although there is a doubt about the ground for Sultanina.

19:00 Saturday 2nd August Racing Tips - 02/08/2014
High draws get much attention in the Stewards Cup and it's supporting race and that looks where to focus for the opener, though there is just pace in 14,24,15,3. How much rain we get remains to be seen but it's unlikely it will be worse than good come race time. Favourites have a poor record in the race but Tatlisu looks to have a bucket load in his favour and is worth a go at 7/1. His Muthmir form is very strong and he doesn't seem ground dependent. His trainer has a good record in this and also saddles El Viento with likeable claimer George Chaloner on top. He is well drawn and was staying on in this last year off 3lb higher when not ideally drawn. Good ground is fine and he's overpriced at 20/1. Goodwood 15.05 - Tatislu 1pt e/w Goodwood 15.05 - El Viento 1pt e/w
Intrinsic is top of the list for the main event at Goodwood but he's too short in a race like this. The first to mention is Flyman at 33/1 with blinkers back on. I'm not sure why they were left off last time but he was drawn the wrong side anyway and can resume progression draw well here. Jack Garrity takes off some weight and he's overpriced at 33/1, especially if the rain comes. Behind Flyman for his win was Joey's Destiny who is 6lb worse off today but was unlucky at Doncaster. He is progressive and the time he won in at Nottingham was notably quick. 6lb higher, this is tougher but he's a course and distance winner and shouldn't be 25/1. Goodwood 15.50 - Flyman 1pt e/w Goodwood 15.50 - Joey's Destiny 1pt e/w
This is not a betting heat to go crazy with but, with a short favourite in Enlace, there are a few prices to tuck into. Of them, I like L'Addition at 12/1 who, like the favourite, is 1 from 1 and open to plenty of progression. She should handle the switch to turf ok and some cut wouldn't be a problem given her dam's relatives. Also worth a punt is Indian Keys for a yard flying with their juveniles. Her Haxby form has her well treated for this and she has a feasible opening mark. Half sister to a heavy winner, the rain won't hinder her chances at 33/1. Newmarket 14.55 - L'Addition 1pt e/w Newmarket 14.55 - Indian Keys 1pt e/w

Race Ratings Saturday, 2 August - 3.15 Goodwood Nassau Stakes (Group 1) (Fillies & Mares) (Class 1) 1m 1f 192y.
11-451 Mango Diva 13 4 9-7 Sir Michael Stoute Was a Listed and Group 3 winner last season, and has progressed this term, running on well after being left short of room over 9f at Epsom, and won a Group 2 at The Curragh two weeks ago. Sta- ble has a good record in this race, and she may improve again. Respected. 97 111-14 Narniyn 34 4 9-7 A De Royer-Dupre Not disgraced when fourth in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud last time. Faces her own sex here, but this race looks of a high order and Narniyn may just find one or two too good. Has some good-soft form, so may handle the expected good ground. RATING 96 112 Sultanina 28 4 9-7 John Gosden Unraced before this season, Sultanina followed up her maiden win with a Group 3 success at Hay- dock. Though the form of that race hasn't been the strongest, apart from the runner-up's Listed win next time, Sultanina ran well next time, when second to her unbeaten stable mate Pomology and ahead of last year's Oak winner, Talent. Good form, if left with a bit to find, but not written off as one from a stable that has won the last two re- newals of this race. RATING 98 28-812 Venus De Milo 34 4 9-7 A P O ́Brien Has something to find with Thistle Bird having been second to that horse in the Pretty Polly last time. Looked to lack Thistle Bird's pace at the end of the race, and that 12f would suit more than a return match over 10f again. On that basis, expect her to set the pace to make the most of her stam- ina, but probably still vulnerable to one with pace over this trip. RATING 99 7311-0 Amazing Maria 57 3 8-12 Ed Dunlop Won the Group 3 Prestige Stakes at this course as a two-year-old last season, but was beaten a long way out when last in the Oaks on seasonal debut, last time. Not that much stamina in the pedigree, but drop back to 10f might help, if still lacking the proven class of a few of her fellow en- trants. RATING 93 32-221 Eastern Belle 51 3 8-12 John Gosden Took her time to lose her maiden tag, but did it last time in a 10f Listed fillies' race at Newbury. Has been freshened up in the interim, and hails from a stable with a good record in this race, but still looks the second string to Sultanina and prob- ably out of her depth in this company. RATING 94 8-5127 Lustrous 14 3 8-12 Richard Hannon Narrowly denied in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot, but was then held by the winner of that race last time, when never a factor in the Irish Oaks. Has a slim chance of a place on best form, but lacks consistency at this level. RATING 95 1-10 Madame Chiang 57 3 8-12 David Simcock Followed up debut maiden success at end of last season, with winning seasonal debut in the Group 3 Musidora Stakes at York. Attracted some support for the Oaks, but looked ill-suited by quick ground at Epsom and ran on through beaten horses to fin- ish mid-div in the race. Drop back in trip and possi- ble easier ground could help, and not written off as an each-way prospect, given the weight concession from the older horses. RATING 96 257210 Palace 14 3 8-12 A P O ́Brien Plugged on at the end of the Oaks to finish a fair seventh, but was last in the Irish Oaks, behind Lustrous, last time. Ran well over a mile and 10f in two starts between the two Classics, so drop back in trip to 10f might suit, but even her best form still leaves her with a fair amount to find with the best of these. RATING 93 63-611 Thistle Bird 34 6 9-7 Roger Charlton Second in this race last year and has stepped up since, winning the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes (10f) last time by a clear margin. Is in a rich vein of form at the moment and should be there- abouts if in the same heart here. RATING 100 ========================================
NOTEBOOK.
Yorkshire trainer Ann Duffield looks to have a po- tentially handy sort to go to war with in nursery handicaps this season, in the form of BARON SPIKEY . The two-year-old son of Lord Shanakil be- lied his odds of 22/1 to finish second in a five-run- ner maiden at Ayr last Monday, behind an odds-on winner of Mark Johnston, who had been placed in his two previous starts. Baron Spikey had finished seventh of 12 on his debut over 7f at Redcar last month, but had clearly come on for the run and fin- ished well over the 6f, if lacking the final degree of pace that the winner had. There is a chance that he could win a small maiden, if connections choose to go down that route, but he won't be harshly rated by the handicapper for his form so far, even if he is heading the right way, and can find an opening in nurseries. The mares' novices' hurdle that opened Uttoxeter's Monday evening meeting probably wasn't the strongest of affairs, but the winner and runner-up, who were sent off the 2/1 joint-favourites for the four-runner contest, both offered their connections some encouragement for the summer ahead. The winner, SURENESS , trained by Charlie Mann, showed some ability on the Flat for her former trainer Marco Botti, winning over 9 and 10f, and achieved a peak rating of 76. Since joining Mann, she has taken her time to find her feet, but has im- proved for the summer ground and got off the mark in a 2m handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter at the end of June. That form made Sureness the pick of the four run- ners in this race, and the tactical nature in which the race developed, with a modest early pace giv- ing way to a sprint finish, arguably played to Sure- ness's strengths, rather than those of the eventual runner-up, JAJA DE JAU . The latter was placed once in three starts on the Flat, for which she was rated 66, before trainer Anthony Honeyball switched her to hurdles two seasons ago. The win tally amounts to just one victory in 15 races over hurdles and fences, having been tried twice over the larger ob- stacles this summer with limited success, but Jaja De Jau, like Sureness, came to this race as a recent course-and-distance winner, when winning a Class 5 handicap hurdle in early July. She went up 9lb for that win, but she was unfortunate to be positioned further back than Sureness on this latest start when that horse kicked for home. She probably has a little more stamina and a little less pace than the winner, and stayed on all the way to the line, beaten less than two lengths. Both look up to scoring in similar races this summer. The 6f juvenile maiden at Windsor looked a typi- cally competitive affair, with 13 runners including debutants from a number of established yards. Of those that finished well, the fourth-placed KING JERRY looked one to note, keeping on well at the close to be beaten less than five lengths by the winning 11/8 favourite. King Jerry is trained by Ralph Beckett and is a half-brother to a two-year- old winner over 5f, and out of a dam who is a half- sister to 11 winners, including four at Listed or Group level. Like King Jerry, the fifth-placed LITTLE RIGGS out- performed his 66/1 starting price for trainer Ed Walker, making progress in the second-half of the race until weakening inside the last furlong. In the circumstances, he can be said to have made a fair debut, particularly when taking into account his breeding, as a son of Cape Cross out of a Dubawi mare, and a relative of several middle-distance runners. He will surely come into his own over fur- ther in time. ============================================
STAT WATCH.
The stats noted in last week's newsletter helped us to bag a brace of Group winners at Ascot last Saturday, with Osaila winning the Princess Mar- garet Stakes at 7/4 and Tagroodah landing the feature race, the King George VI & Queen Eliza- beth Stakes at a nice 7/2. This Saturday's Channel 4-televised action comes from the last day of Glorious Good- wood (2.05, 2.40, 3.15 and 3.50) and New- market (2.20 and 2.55). Given that it's Glorious Goodwood this week, appropriately enough, the yards of Richard Hannon and Mark Johnston have been in good form, as both trainers have saddled plenty of winners at the Goodwood meeting over the years. Hannon's tally of 5 winners puts him joint- fourth in the trainers' standings for the week ending Monday, 28 July, behind the leading trainer by wins, Willie Haggas (8 wins), Mark Johnston (7) and Sir Michael Stoute (6). The Haggas team has been particularly strong, with a superb strike rate of 57%, bettering the excellent 35% of Stoute. The form jockeys were Tom Eaves, by wins, with a tally of 8 and a good strike rate of 23%, followed by Joe Fanning and Ryan Moore, who both rode 7 winners each, with Moore's strike rate of 32% particularly noteworthy. In fact, Moore would have had the top strike rate of the week but for the 33% records of Freddie Tylicki and Daniel Tudhope. Turning to the action at Goodwood, the feature race of the day is at 3.15, the Group 1 Nassau Stakes. Of the trainers with entrants in this race, Roger Charlton has the best long-term (last five seasons) record in this race, with a 25% strike rate and his yard has been in great form of late. His possible runner in this race is Thistle Bird, who is one of the few of the field to have proven herself at Group 1 level this season and was second in this race last year. An outsider who could go well is Ed Dunlop's Amazing Maria, who is unproven over distance but has won twice at this course and the sta- ble has a solid 18% strike rate in the past 14 days. If back to her Group 3 winning form of last season, she could maybe sneak a place. At 2.40, the Class 2, 1m 4f handicap looks a fairly competitive race, with Sir Michael Stoute, who has trained two of the 10 most- recent winners of this race, having a poten- tially useful sort in Kings Fete, who has won over distance and on the expected good going. He could be open to more improvement, as could Luca Cumani's Second Step, another with previous winning form in similar condi- tions. One who hasn't won yet but could go well at a price is Andrew Balding's Smiling Stranger, who has gone close over distance and on the ground. At Newmarket, the 2.20 is a 7f handicap for three-year-olds, in which Saeed Bin Suroor's unexposed entrant Fajry catches the eye by dint of his trainer's current general form (19% wins last 14 days) and long-term form at the course (23% wins). Fajry has won over dis- tance and wasn't beaten far on his second start and handicap debut last time, when he stumbled and was left short of room at the close of the race. Trainer Ollie Pears has a very good 25% strike rate at Newmarket over the last five seasons and his entrant Jacbequick has winning form on the ground and several times over distance. =========================================
RACING NEWS.
In the US, trainer Bob Baffert enjoyed an eighth success in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational courtesy of Bayern, who beat, among others, this season's Kentucky Oaks winner, Untapable. The result puts Bayern's career back on track as the one-time Kentucky Derby hope missed that Classic, and finished out of the reckoning in the Preakness Stakes. Following this win, he may run in the Breeders' Cup Classic later this season. Club trainer James Fanshawe enjoyed a Listed success last Sunday when High Jinx prevailed under Christophe Soumillon in the Prix de Carrousel at Maisons-Laffitte. Fanshawe said that High Jinx is now likely to go to York's Ebor meeting later this month for the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup. Fellow Newmarket trainer Lady Cecil didn't enjoy the same degree of luck when Frankel's younger brother Noble Mission narrowly missed out on victory in Germany. The five-year-old won the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup earlier this season and was sent off favourite in the Bayerisches-Zuchtrennen at Munich race- course, but he didn't break well enough from the stalls to get his vital front-running position from the outset and, though he led later on, he was worn down in the last half-furlong by Lucky Lion. Noble Mission may now head to the Irish Champion Stakes in September. John Gosden's ace filly Tagroodah con- firmed her superstar potential when sweep- ing her rivals aside in the £1m King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot last Saturday, leaving the highly-regarded Telescope trailing in her wake. Prior to the win, the three-year-old daughter of Sea The Stars had been priced at 12/1 by most bookmakers in the ante-post markets for October's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, but her performance at Ascot caused most to slash her to 4/1, and some to 3/1 and 7/2. Sea The Stars won the Arc in 2009 and another of his progeny, Sea The Moon, the winner of the German Derby, is also fancied in the Arc betting, at around 6/1. Connections sug- gest Tagroodah's next possible race may be the Yorkshire Oaks at York's Ebor meeting. Paul Nicholls's first Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, See More Business, has died aged 24. Nicholls described the popular chaser as a "horse of a lifetime" and said that the plan is to bury him at the top of the gallops at Nicholls's training base in Ditcheat, Somerset. See More Business was a vital star in the early stages of Nicholls's train- ing career, owned by John Keighley and Paul Barber for much of his racing career under Rules. In addition to his Gold Cup success, he was also a dual winner of the King George Chase and, by the time of his retirement in 2003, he had won 18 races from 36 starts and more than £700,000 in prize earnings. Irish trainer Willie Mullins's dual-purpose star Simenon has been sidelined for a few weeks after incurring a stress fracture fol- lowing his latest run in a Grade 3 hurdle at Tipperary. Simenon was the runner up in last year's Ascot Gold Cup and was fifth in this year's renewal. Mullins had been hop- ing to run him in the Galway Hurdle, before making some overseas entries for an au- tumn campaign, but said the seven-year-old son of Marju would need six weeks off and he would make plans from that point on.

Ryan Moore takes the saddle for six rides on Saturday at Goodwood, and here he gives us his exclusive take on each of them...
14:05 Goodwood - Tatlisu Has paid for his defeat of the highly progressive Muthmir and a subsequent second to a back-to-form Blaine with a 9lb rise in the weights, but he certainly comes here in good form and 6f on fast ground suits. And even if plenty of rain does arrive, he handles cut well. Has a very solid chance but it is just a case of if the handicapper has his measure now. A midfield draw looks ok.
14:40 Goodwood - Satellite
This looks a very strong 3yo handicap. Our Kings Fete is a very progressive horse and has to be respected, while the likes of Second Step and Thursday's runner-up Rainbow Rock, stepping up in trip, clearly have to be given big shouts, too. But the lightly-raced Satellite has decent claims in his own right, having been possibly a little unlucky to lose out in a photo in testing conditions at Doncaster last time to Roseburg. He handles faster ground but the question here is whether he can cope with a harsh-looking 8lb rise for that Doncaster effort. I think the step up to 1m4f will suit.
15:15 Goodwood - Mango Diva Has 4lb to find with a couple of these on official ratings but she did it well for me when getting up close home to win a Group 3 on fast ground over 1m1f at the Curragh last time, and this extra furlong looks sure to suit. She is very much going the right way and I can see her going close, and she acts well enough with a bit of cut too, if that is required. Comes here in good order and this isn't the strongest Group 1 race for fillies and mares you will see, that's for sure.
15:50 Goodwood - Ninjago In common with a fair few others in here, he looks to have a lot going for him, but he is a horse who undoubtedly needs things to fall his way. But he is well enough drawn in 15, should have his conditions and runs off the same mark as when a good fifth in this race last year. Obviously needs to be delivered late, so he will need luck in-running. Didn't run up to his best at Ascot last time but his earlier Newmarket run gives him a fair chance.
16:25 Goodwood - Fieldsman Doesn't have that much to find with the form horses in here and ran a promising enough race when sixth in a decent maiden at Newbury first time up. Ed's 2yos tend to come on a fair bit for their debuts, so I definitely have chances here. 17:35 Goodwood - Money Team Looked to do it well at Redcar last time and 5f on fast ground are his conditions, so he wouldn't want the forecast rain to come. And he has been raised 7lb for that win, so this will be a lot tougher. But he has clearly bounced back to form since joining David Barron at the start of the season, and I'd be hopeful of another good run here.

ODDSCHECKER.
Goodwood hosts the Nassau Stakes and the 32Red Stewards Cup, both competitive affairs, and look pretty tricky to pick the winner. However we do have one particular fancy. Fairway to Heaven warmed up for the big handicap with a good win at Windsor and is lightly raced compared to his rivals. We reckon he'll put in a big run at an enticing 20/1!

Sir Michael Stoute's Integral goes in search of a second successive Group One win in Sunday's Prix Rothschild at Deauville. Integral: Deauville hopeful The Cheveley Park Stud-owned filly was an impressive winner of the Group Two Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot on fast ground and then answered doubts about her ability to handle a softer surface when a clear-cut winner of the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket. She looks the archetypal Stoute improver and while only four go to post in France this weekend, they include the 1000 Guineas winner Miss France, her Andre Fabre-trained stablemate Esoterique who beat Integral earlier in the season and L'Amour De Ma Vie, second to Integral at Ascot. Chris Richardson, managing director of Cheveley Park, said: "She's been very progressive this season and was most impressive in the Falmouth. She remains in good form at home "There are only four going to post but the other three are all top-class in their own right so it's a trappy little race. "We now know she's as effective on ground with a bit of cut as fast ground so we're unconcerned on that front. "We're happy to keep her to a mile for now as we know she's very effective at it but there's a possibility of her staying in training next year and we may look at having another go at 10 furlongs then. "We'll just take it step by step." Miss France was beaten just over a length back in fifth when stepped up in trip for the Prix de Diane (French Oaks) and while her connections do not feel that conclusively proved she does not stay the mile and a quarter, they are happy going back to a mile for now. Anthony Stroud, spokesman for owners Ballymore Thoroughbred Ltd, said: "She endured a bit of bad luck in the Diane, she got stopped in her tracks just as she was quickening up. "Her dam (Miss Tahiti) was second in that race so I wouldn't say she didn't stay, I just think the winner (Avenir Certain) is very good. They went a slow pace and it was one of those things. If you ran the race again you may see a different result but the winner is very good, there's no doubting that. "That was only her third race of the season and she'd won the Guineas before that so we know she's very effective over a mile. "There are only four fillies but the other three are very good indeed, it will be very competitive. "It could be a messy race like we saw for the Sussex Stakes this week. I hope one of the others decides to go on but if nothing does we have the option. "It's very hard to make all over a straight mile, though."

Trainer Mike Murphy is targeting York compensation for American Hope following his heartbreaking defeat at Ascot last week. American Hope (left): Heads to York next Fourth behind Ertijaal in one of the valuable events at Lingfield on Good Friday, American Hope ran a superb race back on the grass when fifth in the Britannia Stakes at the Royal meeting. He returned to Ascot for another lucrative prize last weekend and looked likely to collect until being caught in the last stride by Mange All. The three-year-old is now being targeted at the The Sky Bet City Of York Stakes. Murphy said: "We're still trying to get over it, but he ran another very good race and the owners have had a lot of fun with him this year. "He just hit the front a bit too soon. It was nobody's fault, he just pinged the stalls, he couldn't get any cover and he's been mugged on the line. "His next target is a Listed race at York over seven furlongs on August 22. The drop back in trip ought to suit him, it certainly won't inconvenience him anyway. "He's been running so well all year and it would be nice if we could find a race for him to get his head in front." American Hope (left): Heads to York next Fourth behind Ertijaal in one of the valuable events at Lingfield on Good Friday, American Hope ran a superb race back on the grass when fifth in the Britannia Stakes at the Royal meeting. He returned to Ascot for another lucrative prize last weekend and looked likely to collect until being caught in the last stride by Mange All. The three-year-old is now being targeted at the The Sky Bet City Of York Stakes. Mushir is set for a return to Listed class on his next appearance after regaining the winning thread at Thirsk on Friday. Roger Varian's Oasis Dream colt was unbeaten in two starts as a juvenile and made a most encouraging three-year-old debut when narrowly denied by Shifting Power in the Free Handicap at Newmarket's Craven meeting in April. Mushir turned in the first disappointing effort of his career on his next appearance at Newbury, but bounced back with a decent effort in defeat in Listed company at Chester before triumphing in a conditions race in North Yorkshire. Speaking on his website www.varianstable.com, the trainer said: " He has been running well without winning, so this was a good opportunity for him. "It was a decent enough performance under a penalty and giving weight to older horses. I'd say we'll look at a Listed race again next." ====================================== Trainer Mike Murphy is targeting York compensation for American Hope following his heartbreaking defeat at Ascot last week. Fourth behind Ertijaal in one of the valuable events at Lingfield on Good Friday, American Hope ran a superb race back on the grass when fifth in the Britannia Stakes at the Royal meeting. He returned to Ascot for another lucrative prize last weekend and looked likely to collect until being caught in the last stride by Mange All. The three-year-old is now being targeted at the The Sky Bet City Of York Stakes. Murphy said: " We're still trying to get over it, but he ran another very good race and the owners have had a lot of fun with him this year. "He's been running so well all year and it would be nice if we could find a race for him to get his head in front." ======================================= Andrea Atzeni was the man to follow at Doncaster as the jockey secured a superb 95-1 four-timer. Luca Cumani's Pleasant Valley set the ball rolling when she obliged as the 11-8 favourite for the Unison Essential Protection For Workers Maiden Stakes, and the pair then teamed up to win the Unison And Uia Insurance Handicap with 5-2 chance Mizzou. Whispering Warrior (9-2) gave the jockey a treble in the Unison Defending Our NHS Handicap, with the four-timer completed when 11-10 favourite Justineo eased clear in the Unison Defending Public Services Conditions Stakes. Atzeni said: "That's my first four-timer, but it's easy when you've got the right horses." ======================================== Clonard Street sprung a Galway Festival surprise by making a winning debut in the 'This Is The Ladbrokes Life' EBF Maiden. The Archipenko colt, trained by John McConnell, had several well-bred horses from the top yards behind him as he lifted this extended mile contest in promising fashion at odds of 22-1. He showed a willing attitude to go through a narrow gap in the hands of Gary Carroll and overhauled Prologue to score by half a length, with Spryt in third. McConnell said: "We always liked him at home. He always showed us a bit. He's not flashy, his best work has been at the end of his work, so we thought he'd find more on a racecourse. He's really tough and talented. "I'm in a little bit of shock. We'll have to go for something OK now, but when we bought him we always said the horse was for sale. There's tons of improvement there." Ross Coakley's allowance proved crucial as the 5lb claimer got Yulong Xiongba (9-2) up in the last few strides to grab the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Nursery Handicap. Intense Style looked home and hosed when going on after turning for home, but the 6-4 favourite was collared by Johnny Murtagh's youngster, who was receiving lumps of weight and prevailed by a head. Coakley said: "I rode him in two of his three previous runs and I've always liked him. I ride him out a good bit at home. "He was a shade keen early and I didn't want him to get to the front too soon, but they quickened down the hill and my lad just got tapped for a little bit of toe. When he hit the hill he got going and stayed on all the way." Dermot Weld sent out his eighth winner of the week when Silwana, the 2-5 favourite, fared best in the deteriorating conditions to take the Ladbrokes Red Day EBF Fillies Maiden, leading off the final bend and holding Cailini Alainn by two lengths. Jockey Pat Smullen said: "She stays very well - she ground it out. She was very workmanlike but she has a good attitude." Denis Hogan's Winter Lion (8-1) roared to victory in the Ladbrokes 'Summer Of Sports' Handicap, while the Dot Love-trained Lucky Pat convincingly won the concluding Ladbrokes Top Treble INH Flat Race at the same odds. ======================================= Prince Rudi rolled back the years to land the feature race on the sixth day of the Galway Festival. Trained in Co Kildare by Stephen Nolan, the 12-year-old gelding picked up just shy of 30,000 euros in the Ladbrokes Handicap Hurdle with a really brave effort under 3lb claimer Ian McCarthy. The 20-1 outsider tracked Flatfoot Boogie for a long way and when he challenged at the final flight there were plenty still in contention, but Prince Rudi was in a particularly belligerent mood and kept the onrushing Shanpallas at bay by half a length, with Give Me A Break third. McCarthy said: "You need a tough stayer for this race. Stephen said to just get a lead and it turned into a test of stamina. "He's a horse with an awful lot of problems, so it's credit to him (Nolan), the way he's handled the horse and chosen his races." Nolan added: "He's a machine for his age. I had him in the Galway Blazers, but we bypassed that to come here. He's been a model of consistency. The rain came at the right time. If there had been no rain he wouldn't have run. "He won the Pertemps qualifier at Leopardstown one year and missed going to Cheltenham by 3lb, and it was then we decided to go chasing with him. He'll run in the Kerry National if he gets in and the Paddy Power at Leopardstown over Christmas. If all goes to plan he'll have the Irish National as his long-term target." There was a sting in the tail for McCarthy as he was suspended for four days by the stewards for using his whip with excessive frequency without giving his mount time to respond. The betting suggested Marchese Marconi was a good thing in the Ladbrokes Maiden Hurdle and so it proved as Aidan O'Brien's 4-11 favourite brushed aside Marty's Magic after the second-last to win as he pleased by 14 lengths under Robbie Power. Owner JP McManus's racing manager Frank Berry said: "That was pretty straightforward. He jumped well bar one, when he dived at the second-last. "He appreciated the give in the ground. He was always on top of his head on fast ground in a handicap earlier in the week. We'll try him in a winners of one race." =================================================== Double Bluff defied top weight to earn another Glorious Goodwood winner for trainer Mark Johnston and jockey Joe Fanning in the Jaguar Handicap. The 7-1 scorer, runner-up at Ascot just six days ago, helped make the running with Smiling Stranger until being asked to go and win his race three furlongs out. This early move paid dividends as the 3-1 favourite Kings Fete could not make up the leeway, having been in the rear early on. Kings Fete was still three lengths down at the line, with Second Step another length and a quarter back. Fanning said: "He's a tough little horse. I thought this may have come a bit quick, but he's tough and genuine. Now he's found his form again hopefully he can keep on getting better." Johnston added: "It's clearly the best race he's run. We've had a bit of a debate as to what trip to go with him. "Ron (Huggins, owner) and I agreed going back to a mile and a quarter didn't work, so we went back up to a mile and a half. If anything, we'll be going up in trip. He was going well at the finish. "We may have to go to Pattern company depending what the handicapper does. He ran in a Group race last year." Another productive Glorious week for Johnston and Fanning continued with Grigolo (6-1) in the Telegraph Nursery. Charlie Hills likes Dutch Connection (9-2), a clear-cut winner of the NatWest Ahead For Business EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes. "He's a nice horse for the future," said the trainer. "We might look at the Solario at Sandown." Online Alexander (8-1) tidily pocketed the concluding Seamus Buckley´s 20th Glorious Stakes for trainer Kevin Ryan and his jockey-daughter, Amy. =========================================== Barnet Fair struck for talented 5lb claimer Cam Hardie in the 32RedSport.com Handicap at Goodwood. This consolation race for the 32Red Cup later on the card was still a hot contest, despite 10 late withdrawals, mainly due to the quick ground. The field split into two groups and it was the Dandy Nicholls-trained Barnet Fair (7-1), second at Ascot last Sunday, who came through on the far side to narrowly land the spoils from Mission Approved and Tatlisu in a finish of short heads. Slip Sliding Away was fourth and Humidor fifth. Hardie, who was claiming his first Glorious Goodwood winner, said: "He had a good second at Ascot last week and he's franked the form. "He was a little keen with me early on, so I just wanted to get some cover and get him switched off. He idled when he got to the front, but he travelled all the way through to the line." Nicholls added: "It's a good day for the owners. This horse has not been with us long. It's taken us time to get to know him. He's improved with every run he's had. "We may have got it a bit wrong the last time when we got pushed to the stands side, but it's all good. He's a nice horse and everyone else who's had him has done well with him. "I think he's put a bit more condition on since he's been with us. He's never given us any trouble or bother. This horse is a gentleman." Barnet Fair is now likely to cross the Irish Sea in pursuit of further riches. Nicholls went on: "Everyone knows I love having winners here, but there's no point coming if you haven't got the right horses. "I'm a bit sick he didn't get in the Stewards' Cup, but hopefully there's next year. I hope you'll hear more about this horse. "The handicapper can't put him up too much, and there are a couple of races in Ireland for him now." ====================================== Sultanina cut down French filly Narniyn to give John Gosden a hat-trick of victories in the Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. William Buick's mount stormed past the 7-4 favourite inside the last 100 yards to claim the Group One honours by a length and a half, with Irish challenger Venus De Milo in third. Sultanina (11-2) was stepping down in trip after losing her 100 per cent record in the Lancashire Oaks last time, when second to stablemate Pomology. Venus De Milo made the running under Joseph O'Brien and had Lustrous for company after half a mile, but Narniyn made what looked like a winning move when creeping up on the far rail to hit the front over a furlong out. However, she had no answer to the late thrust of the lightly raced Sultanina, who asserted her authority with a useful turn of foot. Buick said: "I'm absolutely delighted for everyone - it's fantastic. This filly has really stepped up to the plate. It was only the fourth run of her life, so it was a good training performance. We've always held her in high regard, but no-one as high as her owner." The Nassau is a race Gosden has dominated recently, winning with The Fugue in 2012 and Winsili last year. The trainer said: "It's special. The Fugue would have come here and this filly is what you could call a supersub. "It's lovely. The Aga Khan's filly (Narniyn) is a really good filly to come over and is a tough nut to break. The last furlong and a half was a right duel between the pair. "This filly is very classy and Philippa (Cooper, of owner-breeders Normandie Stud) bred her down the road, just 11 miles from here, and she always told me this filly was the best and I could never work it out. "I didn't run her until this year as a four-year-old. She's gone and won a maiden, a Group Three, second in a Group Two and now won a Group One, so it's unbelievable. "We're going to enter her on Tuesday in the fillies' and mares' race on Qipco Champions Day in October. I might just freshen her for that and go straight there and bring a fresh filly for the autumn." Trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre said of the runner-up: "I think the ground was too fast for her, she was changing her legs. She did well but she has the capacity to do better. Her next race will be the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville in three weeks." Venus De Milo is now likely to head to York later this month. Trainer Aidan O'Brien said: "It was a solid run but she'd prefer going further and she was a little bit at sea on the track as well. She wants to be racing so I'd say she will go for the Yorkshire Oaks. York will suit her better." ===================================== Intrinsic, who missed the cut for the Wokingham at Royal Ascot, put the record straight as he sprinted to victory in the 32Red Cup (Stewards' Cup) at Glorious Goodwood. The four-year-old (6-1) veered towards the stands rail in the closing stages but had enough momentum to get home by a length and strike for sprint king Robert Cowell. It was a typically ultra-competitive renewal of this prestigious six-furlong handicap, with several horses holding chances a furlong out, including the gambled-on 5-2 favourite Muthmir. H e had to settle for fifth, on the heels of the placed horses. Ninjago (10-1), the horse Intrinsic's rider Richard Hughes rejected, was second, with Alben Star (8-1) a neck away third and Ruwaiyan (25-1) fourth. Hughes said: "He was a Group horse in a handicap. He idled a bit in front, but he's a very good horse. The bigger the field, the bigger the certainty. He's so much class, this horse." Cowell added: "We knew he was good. I was very hopeful he'd run a huge race. It's come together, but it's always very difficult to win a huge handicap like this. "We're thrilled. I think he's pretty good and he showed it today. He's got all the attributes. He's got an amazing pedigree and that will stand him in good stead. I think he could go all the way." Cowell is now poised to step Intrinsic up in class. He went on: "It will be stakes races from now on and we'll explore Listed and Group Threes now. I did give him an entry later on in the Sprint Cup at Haydock. There are plenty of options and it's a nice problem to have." Jockey Dane O'Neill said of vanquished favourite Muthmir: "He ran OK. He was drawn on the outside and they didn't go a very good pace. They're deciding whether five or six furlongs is his best trip."

It's been a busy week in Goodwood for Ryan but no time to rest as he heads across the Channel on Sunday to ride Integral in Deauville. Here's the Betfair Ambassador's exclusive verdict on the race...
15:10 Deauville - Integral Obviously this race has cut up a lot, and I have to be hopeful that she can continue on her winning run. Her defeat at the start of the season actually came at the hands of Esoterique by a head in the Dahlia Stakes, but my filly has improved a ton since then, and she has really impressed me in winning the Duke Of Cambridge and Falmouth Stakes on her last two starts.
She acts on any ground, so the forecast good going is no concern, and she has so much speed that she gives me plenty of options tactically in this four-runner race.
But these fillies are clearly no mugs, and Integral has to give 7lb to the Guineas winner Miss France and L'Amour De Ma Vie is actually 3lb better off for the two lengths we beat her at Royal Ascot. This won't be easy at all, but I am riding a top-class filly.

I have noticed over the past few weeks there are more and more non runners. When we get these it alters the bookies pay outs, rule 4 etc. They state BOG and after you have taken the odds bang in a rule 4 and you would have been better off waiting until nearer the race off time. I have also observed that when a horse is going down to the start and plays up perhaps throwing the jockey the price of the horse will tumble bringing it into the bracket where the bookies can bring in the rule 4. There always seems to be a major gamble on these horses when it looks like they might not run. Where as I am sure it is the opposite. Makes you wonder. Well it does me.

Looking Back Those that know me will confirm that I am often heard to comment that "this game would tame lions" in the aftermath of grating reversals on the racetrack and last Monday was one of those days that have a lion purring like a kitten on your lap!
The first bet of the day came in the ultra-competitive Connacht Hotel Handicap and the selection was the Dermot Weld-trained Grecian Tiger. Prior to the race, the market gave plenty of encouragement that he was the fancied one of the two Weld runners and, barring a slightly slow start, the race went quite smoothly for him in terms of positioning. Unfortunately, he just bumped into a well-handicapped rival in the shape of Quick Jack that did well to defy a wider-than-ideal draw. It is always frustrating to one extent or another to finish second, but in this case, the better horse won, so there were no great complaints. However, the frustration levels went through the roof 30 minutes later!
The second selection of the week came in the Claytonhotelgalway.ie Handicap with Botanical Lady dropping back to a suitable trip and having an excellent draw. Everything looked right for her, but a good draw can quickly become a nightmare at Galway if the horse in question isn't away on terms and unfortunately, Botanical Lady missed the kick just enough to allow the horse on her outer to cross her and squeeze her back in the early stages.
She was soon well back in the field hard up against the rail and while she was going the shortest way around with plenty of cover, that position dictates that plenty of luck will be needed in the closing stages.
The necessary splits just weren't forthcoming for her when she really needed them and having got into the clear just over a furlong out, she finished best of all to run the positively-ridden Expensive Taste down to ¾-length. I have no doubt she was the best horse on the day, but that is Galway, luck on the day has a significant bearing on the results.
To rekindle the frustration later in the week, Botanical Lady was turned out again in an extended mile handicap on Friday evening. Personally, I didn't back her again, as the longer trip, softer ground and very wide draw combined to make her an unappealing proposition to me at the available prices, but I hope some of my readers went in again on her, as she was very sharply away, made most of the running and bolted up by 3¾ lengths. As mentioned, this game would tame lions!
I firmly believe that the difference between a successful bettor and an unsuccessful one is the ability to remain unmoved by even the most frustrating results. While the above sequence of events were far from ideal, I've experienced plenty worse than that over the years and I'll continue on as normal and will look to get back on track today.
This Week's Plays The big variable that will dominate analysis of today's meeting at Galway is the ground. When declarations were made for this meeting at 10am on Friday morning, the ground was good, and the amount of rain that has fallen since then wasn't really expected. Thus what we have are fields with many horses in there that want much firmer ground than has prevailed, but because it is Galway, plenty of trainers and owners will still be willing to let their charges take their chances. This situation opens up some interesting betting opportunities and I have found two that I am keen on.
The Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Ahonoora" Handicap (16:30) is the main event of the day, but it is also perhaps the race that will suffer the most from fancied horses being unsuited by the prevailing ground. One that is sure to be suited by the rain-softened ground and has no trip/track concerns is the Dermot Weld-trained Northern Rocked.
The eight-year-old has run very well in the last three renewals of this race, finally winning it last year off just a 2lb lower mark than he runs off today. He shaped well for a long way in his run here on Thursday and that should put him bang-on for this. Had the rain arrived before declaration time, I suspect Pat Smullen might well have ridden him in preference to Sparkle Factor who, while undoubtedly being well-handicapped and progressive, would prefer a sounder surface. He is well drawn and a positive ride should see him make a bold bid. This wouldn't be my most bullish of calls, so I recommend a place bet only.
The Galway Shopping Centre Handicap (17:00) is a typical Galway handicap and for all the reasons I mentioned last week, the Iggy Madden-trained Cardiuil is rock solid. I backed him in this race last year and much in the style of Botanical Lady earlier this week, he made things very difficult for himself by missing the break from a good draw and couldn't quite make up the lost ground in the closing stages. However, he was very well away from his stall on Wednesday and recorded a cosy success at the line under Wayne Lordan. Today's shorter trip will be cancelled out by the much softer ground and provided he jumps as sharply from the stalls again, he seems sure to make a bold bid.
However, his current price reflects his chance and there is one at a much, much bigger price that I can't let go unbacked. I was impressed with the Tim Doyle-trained Northern Surprise when he won from a poor draw at Sligo earlier this season and given that he idled in the closing stages, I feel that there is more to come from him.
He needs soft ground, thus his connections gave him a break during the period of warm weather we had for the last few months, but I suspect they always had one eye on Galway. They gave him a run at Tipperary three weeks ago and he shaped like he needed it. His connections are sure to have been doing a rain dance and it has duly arrived for them, but they haven't been gifted with the best of draws. That said, he was suited by being dropped in at Sligo and while it isn't ideal, one is always prepared to forgive one or two things when dealing with a big-price fancy. Cardiuil will be tough to beat, but Northern Surprise could well give him a surprise at a big price.
Recommended Plays Back Northern Rocked 1pt to place @ 2.5 or better in the 16:30 at Galway Back Northern Surprise 1pt to win @ 17.0 or better in the 17:00 at Galway

Intrinsic could make his first Group-race appearance in the Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh on August 23. Intrinsic: Irish option Trainer Robert Cowell has yet to make a firm plan for his rapidly-improving sprinter, who extended his unbeaten record for the yard to three in Saturday's 32Red Cup at Goodwood. In the aftermath, the trainer suggested Intrinsic "could go all the way" and had been given an entry for the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock "He's absolutely fine and full of himself, he looks a picture," said Cowell on Sunday. "It's all a bit up in the air at the moment. We'll have a sit down with Malih Al Basti (owner) and work something out. "He's in a race in Ireland in a couple of weeks, which is an option, while I'm also going to enter him in the big Qipco Sprint at Ascot on Champions Day." Cowell was feeling in decent order himself, explaining he had "ditched the lime green shirt" he had chosen to wear at Goodwood, which had apparently been a source of amusement for his friends and colleagues.

Roger Varian has confirmed Kingston Hill will have his next outing at this month's York Ebor meeting. Kingston Hill: Options at York The Investec Derby runner-up has entries in both the Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes and the Juddmonte International on the Knavesmire and the trainer is set to take advantage of his versatility. Kingston Hill was last seen finishing fourth in the Coral Eclipse and Varian told At The Races: "After the Eclipse he had an easy couple of weeks. "I think he's set for a great second half of the season. "He's entered in everything, from 10 furlongs to the Leger over a mile and six, but the plan is to run at York. "He's got plenty of options but he's a very good horse."

Luca Cumani will monitor the movements of John Gosden's Taghrooda before deciding upon a plan of action for his smart filly Volume. Volume: Yorkshire Oaks possible The Newbury Listed winner was beaten just under four lengths by Taghrooda in the Investec Oaks and went on to fill the same position in the Irish Oaks behind Bracelet. Volume had held up proceedings at the Curragh as she had been fitted with an incorrect type of shoe. "She came out of the race well and we are going to give her a run in the Yorkshire Oaks if Taghrooda doesn't go there. If she does, then we won't run," said Cumani. The Darley-sponsored Yorkshire Oaks is on August 21.

19:30 Monday 4th August Racing Tips - 04/08/2014
After The Goldrush may get an easy lead at Windsor and that means he must be given serious consideration. Both he and Craftsmanship are a little more exposed than a couple of potentially progressive sorts here though. Crystal Lake should be favourite and were this good ground or softer he'd be going up. However, it will be pretty quick underfoot and that may not suit. Miss Atomic Bomb is making her debut for a yard in form and her run at Kempton back at the start of June suggested more to come off this mark. She has to prove herself on turf and at the trip but a sprint off a crawl on quick gives her a real chance and I thought she'd be shorter than 13/2. Al Manaal is well handicapped and will have her conditions, Windsor 19.00 - Miss Atomic Bomb 1pt e/w
There's a few on the shortlist for the sprint handicap but 3 of them, Desert Command, O'Gorman and Dominate, are yet to prove themselves on quick ground. Role Player will go close if translating his all weather form to turf but he's too short to play and find out. That leaves Vallarta and Amadeus Wolf Tone and the latter is comfortably pick of the prices. A course and distance winner off 2lb lower, this is the first time Adam Kirby has been on since and he hasn't really run a bad race all year. Still 2lb below his highest winning mark, a drop to a strongly run 6 looks ideal, and there are four or so runners here that have made all in the past. He's a firm ground winner and a very, very good bet at 11/1 Windsor 19.30 - Amadeus Wolf Tone 2pt e/w
