Royal Ascot hero Pique Sous is being lined up for an audacious and lucrative double after connections confirmed the dashing grey is set to line up in both next week's Galway Hurdle and the Betfred Ebor at York next month. Pique Sous: Has big-race targets at both Galway and York Royal Ascot hero Pique Sous is being lined up for an audacious and lucrative double after connections confirmed the dashing grey is set to line up in both next week's Galway Hurdle and the Betfred Ebor at York next month. The Willie Mullins-trained seven-year-old landed the Queen Alexandra Stakes under Ryan Moore in Berkshire last month and is set to revert to the jumping game at Ballybrit next week before a trip to the Knavesmire on August 23. Steve Massey, racing manager for owners the Supreme Horse Racing Club, said: "I've spoken to Willie this morning and the plan is to go for the Galway Hurdle and then run in the Ebor, as long as the ground is right. "It's very exciting to have a horse who is favourite for the richest handicap hurdle in Europe and the richest Flat handicap in Europe. We're aiming to pick up around £400,000 in prize-money in a little over three weeks! "We wouldn't even be considering running over hurdles if it wasn't for the prize-money, but we think he's well treated over hurdles and he's in great form at the moment, so we're keen to give it a go. "Paul Townend schooled him over hurdles this morning and everything went well, so we're just hoping this dry spell continues and he stays sound." With a hurdle rating of 137 Pique Sous is currently set to carry 10st 8lb in the 150,000 euro contest on Thursday week, following the publication of the weights. The top of the weights are dominated by British raiders with John Ferguson's Purple Bay, a runaway winner of Saturday's Summer Hurdle at Market Rasen, heading the field on 11st 10lb. Ferguson also has Parlour Games (10st 12lb), Bordoni (10st 8lb) and Dubai Prince (10st 5lb) among a numerically strong team. Charlie Longsdon's Vulcanite is second on the list with a burden of 11st 6lb, with Alan King's Montbazon (11st 2lb) and the Seamus Mullins-trained Fergal (11st) all on 11st or above. Other contenders include Gordon Elliott's Bayan (10st 12lb), Tony Martin's Quick Jack (9st 10lb) and the Aidan O'Brien-trained Plinth (10st 5lb).

Estidhkaar, runaway winner of the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket's July Festival, has been given the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes as an end-of-season target. Estidhkaar: Dewhurst Stakes the big aim Richard Hannon's Dark Angel colt justified favouritism with some authority in the Group Two and earned himself a an official rating of 113 in the process. While Goodwood could be on his agenda, the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster may be the route he goes down. Owner Hamdan Al Maktoum's racing manager Angus Gold told At The Races: "I've only spoken to Richard briefly and he said Goodwood [Vintage Stakes] could be a possibility. "If we think he's good enough to run in the Dewhurst, though, then we'll work backwards from there. He'll only have a few more races this year. "I would guess that he'll be in the Goodwood race but we may wait for something like the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster to see whether he is good enough to run in the Group One." Meanwhile, Gold said options were still under consideration for another exciting juvenile owned by Sheikh Hamdan. Faydhan, a John Gosden-trained son of War Front made an impression when justifying cramped odds in a Haydock maiden at the beginning of the month. Gold explained: "John said we'll look at a conditions race somewhere to get some more experience into him before deciding on whether to stay at six furlongs or to step him up to seven. "If we decide he's fast enough then we'll go for the Gimcrack (York, August 23) and then possibly the Middle Park at Newmarket (October 17) at the end of the season. "John is pleased with him and he's always looked a nice horse. He was a beautiful yearling and a real sharp looking type. "His joints were a little immature early and that's why we didn't see him any earlier than Haydock. We hope to get him back on the racecourse soon."

Telescope tops 12 five-day acceptors for the QIPCO-sponsored King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. Telescope: Could face 11 rivals in the King George at Ascot Sir Michael Stoute's colt has been a warm favourite for the Group One contest since winning the Hardwicke Stakes over course-and-distance last month but faces several notable rivals. John Gosden has a strong hand with Investec Oaks heroine Taghrooda and Romsdal joined in the line-up by Eagle Top, who has been supplemented to the field at a cost of £75,000. Aidan O'Brien relies on Magician, who could have the services of a pacemaker in stablemate Hall of Mirrors. Lady Cecil's Noble Mission has won three times this season, including the Tattersalls Gold Cup, while his owner Khalid Abdullah also has Flintshire in the race. Coral-Eclipse first and second Mukhadram and Trading Leather are all set to clash again with the latter's trainer Jim Bolger also leaving in Leitir Mor. Brown Panther completes the field. Angus Gold, Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum's racing manager, issued a positive bulletin over the prospects of Taghrooda and Mukhadram. "Everything has gone very well with Taghrooda, she's been working very well and looks fantastic," he said. "She seems very happy in herself mentally." If Mukhadram does take his chance this weekend, he will be tackling 12 furlongs for the first time, but Gold is hopeful the extra distance will not be a problem. He said: "William has always felt he will stay and certainly his pedigree suggests he will. Whether he will be as effective over that trip, until he runs over it nobody can say. "We know he's very effective over a mile and a quarter, so we'll just have to see. "We'll wait and see later in the week how both horses are and let him (Sheikh Hamdan) make up his mind what he wants to do." Gold unsurprisingly expects retained rider Paul Hanagan to side with Taghrooda over Mukhadram, adding: "I think it would be hard for him to get off an unbeaten Classic winner at this stage who is getting a lot of weight from the older horses." For his part, Dane O'Neill - the Sheikh's second rider - said he was thrilled to pick up the mount on Mukhadram. "To pick up a spare with a live chance like he has is unbelievable," he told At The Races. "William's always been confident about him getting a mile and a half and he's pretty versatile in that you can go forward with him or drop him in a bit." Nick Smith, Ascot's Head of Communications and International Racing, is relishing Saturday's contest. "This is what the King George is all about - a Classic-winning three-year-old and up-and-coming Royal Ascot winner of that generation taking on the very best of the older horses, headed by Telescope, who has all the hallmarks of being another Harbinger for the same team after his Hardwicke Stakes win," he said. "To have Mukhadram, the Coral-Eclipse winner, in there too, and the likes of Flintshire and Noble Mission as possibles, makes this one of the most exciting renewals of Europe's premier midsummer race for some time."

19:10 Tuesday 22nd July Racing Tips - 22/07/2014
Mark Johnston is having a good month and Skytrain looks a decent bet at Carlisle this evening. He is 3lb below his last turf win and back over a mile in a race he can dominate. Not that this is a track particularly suited to a front runner but he does get every bit of the trip and nothing else will naturally go forward. The ground will suit and he's overpriced at 8/1. Jacob Black could be well treated but I wouldn't play at 7/2 to find out and Hard Core Debt may be the one to be wary of. Carlisle 20.10 - Skytrain 1pt e/w
Massannie loves summer jumping and looks a solid option at Bangor this evening. She misbehaves when there's a bit of juice underfoot and was reluctant over the winter (she may also have been remembering a fall where she returned in a horse ambulance) but the recent signs have been much more encouraging. Her dam was a decent chaser and if she is nearly as good as her she'll win this in receipt of 7lb from Degooch at 10/11. Fantasy King (N/R) will be a threat but is a bit of a monkey and not to be relied upon. Bangor 18.30 - Massannie 3pt win
Next up at the Welsh track is a mares hurdle and Ereyna has to prove herself on quick ground. Her best efforts have come with cut and she is a half sister to a heavy ground winner. Some relatives liked decent ground but I want to take her on with Our Maimie who proved her liking for good ground last time. This is quicker but she'll handle it on pedigree and she can now be considered unexposed for new connections on this surface. She wants at least this far and the yard are flying. She looks a little overpriced in relation to the favourite at 5/2. Bangor 19.00 - Our Maimie 2pt win

Grade One status for Mares' event
The OLBG Mares' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival has been raised to Grade One status as part of an overall upgrade to British Jump Pattern and Listed races for the 2014/15 National Hunt season.
The race was added to the Festival in 2008 and has been won for the last six years by Willie Mullins' incredible race mare Quevega.
Although she has now been retired following defeat at the Punchestown Festival, the strength in depth the Cheltenham contest has produced has allowed the upgrade from Grade Two to Grade One status to be approved.
The Hampton Novices' Chase at Warwick in January has been upgraded from a class two to a Listed race, with February's John Smith's Scottish County Hurdle at Musselburgh making the same change.
The Hillhouse Quarry Handicap Chase at Ayr's Scottish Grand National meeting in April has also been upgraded from a class two to a Listed event.
As has already been announced by Arena Racing Company, the British Horseracing Authority has added a new mares-only chase to the programme at Doncaster in December and this will become the first Listed or Pattern race opportunity for mares in the jump season.
Ruth Quinn, director of racing for the BHA, said: "We are extremely pleased to be able to upgrade the OLGB Mares' Hurdle to Grade One status as it is a race which has performed consistently in the seven years since its inception.
"This is partially thanks to the presence of Quevega, but also because the race has consistently produced large and high-class fields.
"The work of Quevega and the upgrading to Grade One status mean that the Festival now boasts a truly aspirational and important mares-only race so soon after the concept was introduced to the Festival programme.
"This, alongside the wider work to upgrade the mares' programme, provides a real incentive to buy and keep top-class hurdling mares in training which is important for the horse population as a whole."
Simon Claisse, Jockey Club regional head of racing for the south west region and clerk of the course at Cheltenham, said: "I am firstly delighted that the OLBG Mares' Hurdle, registered as the David Nicholson, has been promoted to Grade One status. Quevega has made the race her own over the last six years, but since its inception in 2008, it has gone from strength to strength.
"Cheltenham racecourse is committed to supporting mare-only races with six Pattern and Listed races throughout our season and for the Championship race at the Festival to be promoted to Grade One shows the strength and depth in this area of the sport. Secondly, it is also great news that the race on Classic Chase Day at Warwick has been upgraded to Listed status and shows the strength of jump racing at the course."
Sports betting community OLBG have signed up to sponsor the Cheltenham Festival race for another five years and will continue their sponsorship of mares' events on the road to Cheltenham at Wetherby, Kempton, Ascot, Warwick and Doncaster.
OLBG's PR Representative Dean Goddard said: "This is fantastic news for our 50,000 members who will enjoy this wonderful journey with us. We'll continue to entertain many of them at the races through the series. Those unable to attend can enjoy following the OLBG Road to Cheltenham on television, with five of the races televised on Channel Four last season.
"The fact the race has now progressed to Grade One status as well has not only delighted all of us at OLBG, but also many owners and trainers of mares who truly appreciate all of our efforts."
Champion trainer Paul Nicholls, although not expecting to have a horse that can compete in the OLBG series this season, is certainly hopeful that will soon change.
"I have more mares in training now than I have done and am very keen to support this wonderful series," he said.
Alan King, on the other hand, already has a contender for the 2015 OLBG Mares Hurdle in L'Unique who finished third behind Quevega when contesting this year's renewal.
"We have kept L'Unique in training and she will remain over hurdles with the OLBG Mares' Hurdle her Festival target," said King.
"I've also recently just purchased a three-year-old Kayf Tara at the sales and topped the Derby sale for fillies when buying a Robin Des Champs half-sister to Raya Star for 110,000 euros. Both fillies will be trained for bumpers this season with the hope they'll progress into the type of mare that can run in the OLBG series."
Nicky Henderson is another trainer who has been busy spending money on mares at the Derby sales and was fulsome in his praise of the OLBG series.
"What wonderful news it is that OLBG are continuing to support mares' racing. I have several mares that can run in the series with Polly Peachum and Mayfair Music two in particular that I'm hoping will have a fine season," he said.
Highland Retreat won two OLBG-sponsored races last season and her trainer Harry Fry said: "The OLBG sponsored series are the races that we look to target our mares at, so much so, we are buying mares at the sales particularly with these races in mind."
Despite Quevega's retirement, Mullins may well have a prime candidate to for next year's OLBG Mares' Hurdle in Annie Power. The six-year-old lost her unbeaten record when runner-up behind More Of That in last season's World Hurdle at the Festival and connections could be tempted to run her against her own sex next March now that the race has been promoted to Grade One status.
========================================= Moonlight shines at Musselburgh
John Quinn looks to have another smart two-year-old to go to war with in the shape of Musselburgh winner Moonlightnavigator.
The 9-4 chance, who fetched £230,000 at the sales, came out on top in a ding-dong battle with Henrytheaeroplane in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes to score by a neck under Philip Makin.
Quinn, trainer of Coventry Stakes hero The Wow Signal, told Racing UK: "He's a really nice colt that wants at least seven furlongs and maybe a mile in time. I love the early closing races but I won't be afraid to put him in a few nice contests in the autumn."
Joe Fanning is riding out of his skin at the moment and continued in a rich vein of form with a double, starting with Staffhoss (9-2) in the Arthur McKay Handicap. The Mark Johnston-trained four-year-old was ridden positively by Fanning and he stayed on best to beat Ellaal by a length and a quarter, breaking his turf duck at the 11th time of asking.
Fanning didn't have to wait long before he was on the score sheet again when Windforpower justified 5-2 favouritism in the Happy 40th Birthday Mark Bemrose Handicap. The in-form pilot was enjoying his 1,800th UK winner aboard Tracy Waggott's four-year-old, who was brave in holding Pavers Star by a head.
Waggott enjoyed a double of her own in the Download The Racing UK iPad App Handicap courtesy of the Dale Swift-ridden Valantino Oyster (4-1).
Buoyed by his Beverley success last week, the Pearl Of Love gelding made all in determined fashion under a 6lb penalty and knuckled down well inside the final furlong to hold the fast-finishing Dhaular Dhar by three-quarters of a length.
La Bacouetteuse (4-1) was the subject of the loudest cheer of the day when he landed back-to-back victories in the Download New Racing UK iPad App Handicap.
The Iain Jardine-trained nine-year-old had come back down to last year's winning mark of 65 and was too good for the in-form Maoi Chinn Tire inside the final furlong. He tracked Jennie Candlish's representative under David Allan when the field of seven turned for home and simply outstayed the well-supported 5-4 favourite to record a two-and-three-quarter-length win.
Jardine said: "He needs a strong pace to aim at and got that today. He's a real stayer and grinds it out at the finish. He can be lazy but he keeps something back for the finish. My girlfriend rides him at home and she's great with him. He's won four times here now so clearly loves the place."
Allan doubled up when Shamaheart (11-2) defied top weight in the Watch Musselburgh On Racing UK Anywhere Today Handicap.
The racinguk.com/anywhere, 3 Devices, 1 Price Handicap went the way of Bryan Smart's Space Artist (7-2), holding off the heavily-backed favourite Flash City. ==========================================
Halford retains Certerach faith
Mick Halford expects Certerach to post an improved performance next time after he failed to sparkle in the Challenge Stakes at Leopardstown last week.
The six-year-old, winner of the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan in March, could only manage sixth behind Pale Mimosa on the back of finishing a respectable second to Ernest Hemingway in the Curragh Cup.
Halford said: "I thought he was in the form of his life going into last Thursday's race, but it turned into a messy contest and I would say it's unfair to suggest he ran flat. He never settled throughout and I would be inclined to draw a line through it. We've got plenty of options with him and I'm confident he'll bounce back to form."
The trainer added: " He's in the Ballyroan and we also have him in the Irish St Leger. There is also the option of taking him to York for the Lonsdale Cup so we have plenty to think about."
Halford has some nice two-year-olds to go to war with this season and Portage created a favourable impression when finishing a running-on second to East India on his Curragh debut on Saturday.
In what is traditionally a red-hot maiden, won by Australia 12 months ago as well as New Approach andTeofilo in the recent past, the Sheikh Mohammed-owned colt shaped with plenty of promise despite running green and breaking slowly from the stalls.
Halford said of the 70,000-guineas purchase: "He's a horse I really like and he could be very smart.
"I'm really looking forward to him as he's a big, scopey sort and that first run will have brought him on plenty.
"He wouldn't run against Toscanini, but he ran great considering he was green and we're all excited about him at home."

Bary plots Arc route for Spiritjim
Leading French trainer Pascal Bary is plotting a route towards the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe with prolific winner Spiritjim.
The four-year-old is unbeaten in four starts so far in 2014, clinching his first Group One victory when narrowly denying the Lady Cecil-trained Noble Mission in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud at the end of last month.
Bary has won multiple Group One prizes at home and abroad during a stellar training career, with the likes of Six Perfections, Divine Proportions and 1000 Guineas heroine Natagora among the horses to have passed through his hands.
Europe's premier middle-distance prize at Longchamp in October has so far eluded the Chantilly-based handler, but he hopes Spiritjim can develop into a realistic contender this autumn.
Bary said: "I am very pleased with him. I think as a four-year-old, he is one of the best I have trained and he is still improving.
"He loves the distance of a mile and a half and I don't think he minds the ground either way.
"I think he will go to Longchamp (for a trial) and then hopefully for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe."
Another Bary inmate to have shown his worth at the highest level this term is Teletext, who ran an excellent third in the Grand Prix de Paris.
He is also bound for an Arc trial, but the three-year-old appears unlikely to be geared towards the Arc itself.
"I think the Arc could be better for him next year. He's a young horse and still improving," said Bary.

High hopes for Odeliz
Trainer Karl Burke believes Odeliz is up to competing at Group One level before the season is out following another excellent effort in defeat at the Curragh on Sunday.
Narrowly beaten on her seasonal reappearance in the Park Express Stakes at the home of Irish Flat racing in March, Odeliz has since been placed in the Middleton Stakes at York and the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom.
Pitched in at Pattern level again in Sunday's Kilboy Estate Stakes, the four-year-old was beaten less than a length into fourth and Burke feels it may have been an even better result had conditions been more testing.
Burke said: "It was a very good run and it's well publicised that to be at her most effective she needs cut in the ground.
"The rain came on Saturday night and without it I doubt we would have run, but it was still good, fast ground and she just can't quicken in it at that level.
"If the ground had been softer, I'm pretty sure we'd have seen a different result.
"I'm 90 per cent certain she'll stay in training next year, which is great news, and I think she could be competitive in a Group One when she gets her conditions, never mind win a Group race.
"She has plenty of options coming up. There is a Listed fillies' race at Clairefontaine and another race at Deauville next month.
"Her main aim for the year is the EP Taylor Stakes in Canada, so we want to make sure we have her at her best for that."
=======================================
Varian seeking York glory
Roger Varian could be double-handed in Saturday's Sky Bet York Stakes with both Farraaj and Cameron Highland under consideration for the Knavesmire feature.
Farraaj was an emphatic winner of the John Smith's Cup at the track earlier this month and will be stepping back up to Pattern company for the first time since March.
Winner of the Group Three Winter Derby at Lingfield last season, Farraaj was last tried at that level when finishing fifth in the defence of his crown.
Varian, who won the York Stakes with Sri Putra in 2012, is also considering an outing for Cameron Highland, a dual Listed winner who finished sixth on his seasonal bow last month.
He said:"Both Farraaj and Cameron Highland are possible runners in the Sky Bet York Stakes.
"Farraaj has come out of his win in John Smith's Cup absolutely fine and looks well. It was a good effort that day - a solid, weight-carrying performance.
"Cameron Highland has got to rediscover his best form but he has been working well since his comeback at Newmarket. He has been a good horse in the past so hopefully he might come back to that."
=================================================
Course specialist in Ascot return
Gabriel's Lad is on course for a tilt at the Longines International Stakes at his beloved Ascot on Saturday.
The five-year-old had excuses when only seventh in the Group Three Criterion Stakes at Newmarket last month and trainer Denis Coakley is hoping his course specialist will bounce back.
He said: "There was a huge storm at Newmarket prior to his latest run and that rain ultimately went against him. He doesn't mind good to soft ground but the heavy showers meant they were kicking the top off and he couldn't get a grip."
Coakley's stable star won the Victoria Cup over the International course and distance two starts ago but the Newbury-based handler is under no illusions as to the size of the task with a big weight.
"You can never be confident in these big handicaps and it's a tough ask now he's 8lb higher than when winning there in May," said Coakley.
"He's in good order at home and I'd like to think that the drop back into handicap company and the switch back to Ascot should play to his strengths."
======================================
Signal pointed at Phoenix
The Wow Signal looks like being stepped up into Group One company for the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on August 10.
John Quinn's juvenile created a deep impression when winning the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last month and the Yorkshire-based trainer is excited as to what the future may hold.
The Prix Morny at Deauville on August 24 was also under consideration, but Quinn told Racing UK: "He's very well at home and we're thinking about the Phoenix for him."
He went on: " I've spoken to Harry Herbert (racing manager for owners Al Shaqab Racing) and if the ground is nice that is where we'll go.
"He's also in the Gimcrack at York and the Dewhurst at Newmarket and we've also got the option of the Group One on Arc day (Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere).
"He has a great mind and a real appetite for work but whilst everyone dreams about next year, I'll let next year take care of itself and crack on with this year."

Charlton weighs up Kazeem options
Roger Charlton has revealed a tilt at next month's Juddmonte International at York is "unlikely" for multiple Group One winner Al Kazeem following his pleasing return to action at Newbury on Saturday.
The six-year-old claimed the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh, the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot and Sandown's Coral-Eclipse during an excellent campaign in 2013, following which he was retired to the Royal Studs in Sandringham after being bought by the Queen.
However, after reportedly getting only around 25 mares in foal, he returned to training with Charlton in May and was a heavily-supported favourite for his eagerly awaited comeback in Saturday's Doom Bar Stakes. Having travelled powerfully for a long way, Al Kazeem weakened into fourth in the closing stages but offered plenty of hope he can return to the highest level.
Charlton said: "The horse is absolutely fine and I have an idea where he will go next, but I would rather not say at this stage.
"There is a race in about a month's time, but it's not at York. I would say the Juddmonte International is unlikely at this stage.
"It is too far away to making any definite plans, so we'll see how things progress."
=========================================
Taghrooda could go off favourite
Bookmakers Coral believe there is every chance Investec Oaks heroine Taghrooda could go off favourite for Saturday's Qipco-sponsored King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.
John Gosden's unbeaten filly was expected to bid for an Oaks double at the Curragh last weekend, but was taken out after connections made the bold decision to let her take on the boys in this Saturday's Group One showpiece.
She has been heavily supported for the midsummer highlight in recent days and was clipped again by Coral on Tuesday to 9-4 from 5-2, prompting the firm to ease Sir Michael Stoute's Telescope to 2-1 favourite from 7-4.
Coral's David Stevens said: "Having been backed down to 7-4 joint-favouritism over the weekend, we thought the gamble on Taghrooda had eased, but it seems 5-2 was considered too big by some punters, and there is still every chance the filly could head the market by race time."
With Taghrooda set to be partnered by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's retained rider Paul Hanagan, the owner's second jockey Dane O'Neill will come in for the mount aboard the William Haggas-trained Coral-Eclipse hero Mukhadram.
"It's great for Sheikh Hamdan he's got two live chances in such a prestigious race," the jockey told At The Races.
"William has always been quietly confident he'll get the mile and a half. To pick up a live, spare ride like him is unbelievable. He's a very straightforward and he's pretty versatile. He can go forward or drop in a little bit, so I'm over the moon to pick him up."
Taghrooda is likely to be joined in the field by at least one stable companion, with Derby third Romsdal and the supplemented Eagle Top also in contention for Gosden.
The latter was a brilliant winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot last month and big-race jockey William Buick is keeping his fingers crossed conditions in Berkshire are not too quick.
Buick said: "He was very good at Ascot, obviously. Hopefully the ground won't get too fast for Saturday. If it gets on the firm side, it wouldn't really suit him.
"It's a good King George this year, but the three-year-olds gets a good bit of weight from the older horses and he's coming off the back of an impressive win in the King Edward. We're all very much looking forward to it."
On a likely clash with Taghrooda, Buick added: "I'm happy to take her on. I've always had a lot of belief in Eagle Top and everyone in the yard is happy with him."

6.40, second race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, SLIM CHANCE (IRE), ridden by Andrew Elliott and trained by Simon West, compared with its previous run at Catterick on 2 July 2014 where the mare finished eighth of eight, beaten 17½ lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that SLIM CHANCE (IRE) had appreciated the drop in trip to five furlongs. They ordered SLIM CHANCE (IRE) to be routine tested.
7.10, third race
The Stewards held an enquiry into two possible incidents of interference. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found, in the first incident approaching the furlong marker, that the winner, CENTRE HAAFHD, ridden by Graham Gibbons, had interfered with ANOTHER ROYAL, placed fourth, ridden by Duran Fentiman. The Stewards found Gibbons in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he failed to take sufficient steps to prevent his mount drifting left. They cautioned him as to his future conduct in races.
In the second incident, approaching the line, they found that CENTRE HAAFHD had drifted right causing interference to ANOTHER ROYAL. They found the interference was accidental.

The Wow Signal looks like being stepped up into Group One company for the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on August 10. The Wow Signal could head to Ireland John Quinn's juvenile created a deep impression when winning the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last month and the Yorkshire-based trainer is excited as to what the future may hold. The Prix Morny at Deauville on August 24 was also under consideration but a chat with Harry Herbert, owner Al Shaqab Racing's racing manager, appears to have cleared the way for an Irish jaunt. Quinn told Racing UK: "He's very well at home and we're thinking about the Phoenix for him. "I've spoken to Harry Herbert and if the ground is nice that is where we'll go.

William Buick is keeping his fingers crossed conditions at Ascot do not become too quick ahead of Eagle Top's tilt at the QIPCO-sponsored King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday. Eagle Top goes clear to win at Royal Ascot. John Gosden's Pivotal colt put a disappointing handicap defeat at Leicester behind him with a brilliant display in the King Edward VII Stakes at the Royal meeting last month and is set to be pitched in against his elders for the first time this weekend having been supplemented at a cost of £75,000. "He was very good at Ascot, obviously. Hopefully the ground won't get too fast for Saturday. If it gets on the firm side, it wouldn't really suit him," Buick told At The Races. "It's a good King George this year, but the three-year-olds gets a good bit of weight from the older horses and he's coming off the back of an impressive win in the King Edward. "We're all very much looking forward to it." One of Eagle Top's main threats is likely to come from within his own yard in the shape of Epsom Oaks heroine Taghrooda, who is set to be ridden by owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's retained rider Paul Hanagan. While Buick respects his mount's stable companion, he said: "I'm happy to take her on. "I've always had a lot of belief in Eagle Top and everyone in the yard is happy with him." With Hanagan likely to side with the unbeaten Classic heroine, Sheikh Hamdan's second jockey Dane O'Neill will come in for the mount aboard William Haggas-trained Coral-Eclipse hero Mukhadram. "It's great for Sheikh Hamdan he's got two live chances in such a prestigious race," said the jockey. "William has always been quietly confident he'll get the mile and a half. To pick up a live, spare ride like him is unbelievable. "He's a very straightforward and he's pretty versatile. He can go forward or drop in a little bit, so I'm over the moon to pick him up."

The Queen's 2013 Ascot Gold Cup heroine Estimate has tested positive for the banned substance morphine, Buckingham Palace has announced. Estimate famously won the Ascot Gold Cup last year A statement from the Queen's racing advisor said initial indications were that the positive test had resulted from the "consumption of a contaminated feed product". Sir Michael Stoute's five-year-old mare produced one of the iconic stories of last season when triumphing in the two-and-a-half-mile Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and the five-year-old filly was only narrowly denied by Leading Light when she defended her crown last month. The British Horseracing Authority announced last week that five horses, including Estimate, under the care of various trainers, have been reported to show the presence of morphine in their 'A' samples, a prohibited substance on raceday under the Rules. The Queen, who cheered the horse on to success at Royal Ascot last year, has been informed of the development. A statement by John Warren, the Queen's bloodstock and racing advisor, said: "On Thursday July 17 the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) announced that a number of post-race samples, obtained from recent race meetings, had been found to indicate the presence of morphine, which is a prohibited substance on race days. Five horses, under the care of various trainers, were affected. "I can confirm that one of those horses was Estimate, the five year-old filly trained by Sir Michael Stoute and owned by The Queen. Initial indications are that the positive test resulted from the consumption of a contaminated feed product. "Sir Michael is working closely with the feed company involved to discover how the product may have become contaminated prior to delivery to his stables. "As the BHA investigates this matter, including potential links between the different cases, Sir Michael continues to offer his full co-operation. "There will be no further comment until the BHA announces its considered findings. "Her Majesty has been informed of the situation."

THE QUEEN’S horse Estimate has sensationally tested positive for the banned substance morphine, Buckingham Palace announced last night.
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained mare returned a positive test after finishing second in the Ascot Gold Cup, a race she won to huge popular acclaim in 2013, at last month’s royal meeting.
The shock announcement follows the news last week that traces of morphine had been discovered in post-race samples provided by five horses. It is thought the positive tests may have been a consequence of contaminated feed.
Although current thinking is that the positive tests are accidental, the news that one of the Queen’s horses has tested positive for a substance prohibited on race days is a story likely to go around the globe.
The Queen is the world’s highest-profile owner-breeder, having raced thoroughbreds for more than 60 years and won more than 1,600 races.
The sanction for Estimate’s positive test, once confirmed by the BHA, is automatic disqualification from the Gold Cup and the forfeiture of the £80,625 prize-money for second place. If it is discovered the horse inadvertently came into contact with the banned substance there will be no punishment for Stoute.
Despite the positive test, last night stable sources indicated Estimate was still on course for the Goodwood Cup at Glorious Goodwood in eight days’ time.
In a statement, John Warren, the Queen’s bloodstock and racing adviser, said last night: “On Thursday, July 17, the British Horseracing Authority announced that a number of post-race samples, obtained from recent race meetings, had been found to indicate the presence of morphine, which is a prohibited substance on race days. Five horses, under the care of various trainers, were affected.
“I can confirm that one of those horses was Estimate, the five year-old filly trained by Sir Michael Stoute and owned by the Queen. Initial indications are that the positive test resulted from the consumption of a contaminated feed product.
“Sir Michael is working closely with the feed company involved to discover how the product may have become contaminated prior to delivery to his stables.
“As the BHA investigates this matter, including potential links between the different cases, Sir Michael continues to offer his full cooperation. There will be no further comment until the BHA announces its considered findings. Her Majesty has been informed of the situation.”
Charlie Hills has admitted he trains one of the five horses who tested positive and it is also believed a Newmarket-trained winner from last month features among the initial tests.
The likelihood that the positives stem from contaminated feed has left trainers up and down Britain nervous about further positive tests, prompting one of the major feed merchants, Dodson and Horrell, to issue a statement late last week that one of their suppliers had informed them “of a possible component contamination”. ======================================== Goodwood going news The first going report for Glorious Goodwood has the ground as good (good to firm in places). Watering as necessary. =========================================

TAKEN FROM ANOTHER SITE.
Below is a list of the tipsters and betting accounts I have come across that are either not to be trusted, making a loss, or running a scam of one kind or another. I am blocked by the vast majority of these 'professionals' on Twitter after confronting them about their claims of profitability or other suspicious activity. If you want to save yourself some money, these are the accounts you want to avoid!
*This list is by no means complete or final and will be updated accordingly from feedback and further proof.
In no particular order: ;-)
@footballacca - Football Accumulator - Set up and run by Lee Wild (prolific con artist), charges £9.99, makes huge losses yet claims to be in profit, his tipsters are fictional, doesn't honour refunds on membership fee, runs fake competitions to gain followers, blocks anyone who questions him. Lee earned over £70,000 from sign ups alone last year, whilst his tips made a loss in excess of £3500 in just 3 months of monitoring.
@horseacca - Horse Racing Tips - As above, Lee Wild venture (currently inactive, but soon will be charging).
@footyaccums - Footy Accumulators - These 4 'lads' work for the bookies and tip ridiculous accas they suspect will lose in order to earn more commission. All activity on Twitter/Facebook is aimed at gaining new followers to sign up through their affiliate accounts. They earn a fortune through commission when their referral's bets lose. They have also done deals with particular bookmakers whereby they're paid to promote their 'special' offers (all of which are designed to generate the bookies more revenue).
@accatracker - As above. Had no data protection for over 148,000 user's details until they were confronted. This personal data was easily accessible to the masses and may have been sold on to identity thieves/fraudsters.
@spankthebookies - Run by Colin Hutchison who started charging after a short run of winners, he now lies about his profits whilst charging £10/month. Begs for sign ups whilst his P/L is false. Ignores his many, many losing tips and gets very abusive towards members after endless complaints. His competitions have also been awarded to himself and friends (proof on Twitter). #DoleTipster
@getonmytips - Run by Joe Saunderson who is the most prolific liar I have come across. Everything written on his website is lie - the P/L is completely fabricated, he doesn't have a team of professionals, he doesn't have an office in central London and he certainly isn't a pro sports bettor himself. See my blog for an in-depth look at this young fraudster.
@getyourtipsout - Run by Joe Norris and friends who are working for the bookies. 'Tips' a horse in every single race (often up to 80 a day) which make monumental losses for backers but earns them a huge commission. P/L is never updated to include all of these losses and their profit figure is completely fabricated. Many people now use GYTO picks to see which horses not to back.
@tip_top_tipping - Tip Top Tipping - Makes huge losses and lies about profits. Refuses to record his results so he can ignore all his losing tips and 'BOOM' a few favourites. Desperate 'tipster' who quite literally begs people to pay him via Paypal for useless tips to feed his own gambling addiction.
@footy_Tipster - Football Tipster - Charges £10/month, numerous complaints, P/L is inaccurate (doesn't include all losses), no detailed results page to prove accuracy.
@bettipsadvisor - Bet Tips Advisor - Known to delete losing tips from Twitter, soon to be charging.
@markj1576 - Racing Tipster - Useless horse racing tipster with the most frequent number of complaints on Twitter. Mostly tips favourites for £15/month, complete guesswork. Very abusive towards people and always desperate for sign ups. Claims huge profits from previous weeks or months when making an overall loss.
@lightfoottips - Lightfoot Tips - Made over £3k losses from previous website then decided to change websites to start all over. Claims of profits are completely fabricated, results are deleted each week. Many people have tracked his results and proved him to be a liar and a cheat.
@brynthomastips - Bryn Thomas - Works with Lightfoot tips on forwardbetting.co.uk, as above.
@abcbet - ABC Bet - Formally Prophet Betting which was shut down due to monumental losses and hundreds of complaints. Charges £15/month for useless 'tips' and an awful strike rate. Makes false claims about profit despite continued complaints from paying members. Blocks people who question their claims. Also linked to Lee Wild.
@abcbetfootball - ABC Football - As above.
@abcbetracing - ABC Racing - As above.
@tips4theslips - Another conman who used to be part of the Prophet Betting group, charges £10/month for awful tips. Desperate for sign ups, yet doesn't record results.
@dailysportstip - Daily Sports Tipping - As above (same person as Tips4theslips).
@nextbettips - NextBet.co.uk - Initially set up by Lee Wild, now supposedly run by others. Tips are woeful yet they charge £50/year and their results records haven't been updated for 10 months. They continue to charge people after subscriptions have been cancelled by unhappy members.
racingtips_UK - (tipsuk.net) - Complete chancer and clueless at what he's meant to be professional at. Was selling tips for virtual racing at one point. Currently gone quiet after a Twitter backlash but keep a look out for when he returns.
@footballtips_UK - (tipsuk.net) - As above.
@bttscoupon - Both Teams To Score - Same scam as FootyAccums, their only aim is to get followers to sign up with their affiliate accounts, then the more their referrals lose, the more they earn through commission. No published records of any profitably as their tips make a loss overall.
@experttipping - Expert Tipping - Claims to be professional yet no record of results, known for illegally selling fixed match info, charges up to £14.95/month, 60% of followers are fake which were paid for to appear more popular, very untrustworthy.
@thespaintrain - The Spain Train - Run by Nick Benham, paid for 20k fake followers to look legit and popular. Only running the account to earn commission from bookie affiliates, complete chancer. #ChooChoo
@footyprofit & @football_layer & @fpinplay (same people) - Football Tips - Charge £9.99/month for useless tips, P/L is fabricated as many losses are ignored from the figures. Not to be trusted at all.
@chasingprofit - Sells bogus racing 'info' for £10/month, lies about prices and profits, ignores all losses on results page. Farcical.
@firsttipping - First Choice Tipping - Run by Richard Somers, who paid for thousands of fake followers to make his account look genuine, but he is far from a professional like he makes out. Charges up to £20/month even though his account is new and has no records. Complete chancer.
@live_Bet_Basher - Live Bet Basher - Known to delete losing tips, blocks people who question this.
@horsebettinguk - Horse Tips - bettingsubscription.com - £15/month but doesn't record tips/results.
@footballtips - Football Tips - Bookie promoter, every tip is tweeted with an affliate link, nothing more than a bookies mate.
@bookieinsiders - Bookie Insiders - Charge £10/month, misquote P/L by not including losses, lie about profits, block unhappy customers.
@beluckytipsters - Refuses to publish record of results, no P/L, gets very abusive when questioned about this.
@overpricedtips - Overpriced HorseTips - Charges £14.99/month, yet no record of any results.
@futbolwager - One of the more ridiculous scams on Twitter. Challenges people to a game of FIFA online for a wager up to £50. You can guess what happens when he loses.
@fixedmatchtips - Edvin Clausen - Illegally selling false 'fixed match' info, currently under investigation.
@sharkharrisonvk - Claims to stake in excess of $50,000 on his picks yet feels the need to charge people $25/month for his services. I've not come across anyone in the UK who has fallen for this but it screams scam.
@upthestakes - Posts bookie affiliate links all day, waste of space.
@monthlyprofits - Horse Racing Tips MP - Charges £5.99/DAY, no results or P/L. Regularly begs people on Twitter to send him £1 via Paypal so he can get a bet on. #DoleTipster
@cleverbets - Claim to be a team of 'highly skilled professionals' but they completely ignore all of their losses every month, typical trick of scam tipsters. £4.99/month but unless you pay you won't see their full results.
@soccer_psychic - Soccer Psychic - £10/month for 'guaranteed profit', no proof of profitability whatsoever.
@mrfootytips - MrFootyTips.net - Works for Bet365, no record of P/L or results. Only aim is to earn commission from Bet365.
@betmatters - Running a tennis betting scam from betmatters.com charging £30/month, no P/L record, abusive when questioned.
@maximumprofits & @provenwinners - MaximumProfits.co.uk - Prolific con artists, the website is typical of your average scam.
@proventipsters - LayToWinTips.co.uk - As above, same people.
@newsportstrader - SportsNewsandBets - comparethebets.eu - Bookie affiliate spammer, has had many different Twitter accounts in the past all posting the same links to spam.
@andrewbrowntips - Andrew Brown - Sells 'inside info' on horse racing for £50/3months, scam.
@tiptankuk - Tip Tank - Charges £10/month but will only show results from past 7 days, no long term records to prove claims of profitability.

20:20 Wednesday 23rd July Racing Tips - 23/07/2014
I can see the appeal of Alketios at Sandown but the equally unexposed Matravers looks a more solid option and he's bigger in the market. The favourite didn't appear to love quick ground last time and has been given a stiff opening mark after winning in a modest time. The time of Matravers' maiden was a second or so quicker and he's bred to love this ground, though it's worth noting Ted Durcan hopped off him last time and said it was fast enough. By Oasis Dream, he'll have the toe should this be slowly run but looks to want a return to a mile and should be ahead of a mark of 73 at a generous 11/4. 3 year olds have dominated this of late but pick of the prices of the rest would be Gracious George at 20/1, though he'll find at least one of the youngsters too good. Sandown 18.35 - Matravers 2pt win
Provenance was a beaten odds on poke last time here over a mile but a drop in trip and better ground should see her to better effect and she's 7/4 this evening. Given the manner in which she won first time out, showing a blistering turn of foot, that's too big. That speed was dampened by softer ground than the official good to soft registered last month and she's better than that effort. A hood goes on which is a slight concern but it may do the trick...that's the reason she's a 2 pointer and not a 3. Crystal Lake is of interest but has to give 1lb to a classy favourite and both Pageant Belle and Zain Empire have a tough ask off their opening marks. Sandown 19.45 - Provenance 2pt win
Gambol should really win the stayers race at 13/8 on the basis of his success in Class 5 company last time out. He's progressive and hails from a yard in fine form. This is tougher and he's up 6lb but the time was good last time and this extra trip on breeding may well bring out further improvement. Meetings Man is the obvious danger and something about him is tempting with Cam Hardie on top. He gets this trip but he has struggled off this mark in this sort of company in the past and is vulnerable to a young improver. Sandown 20.20 - Gambol 2pt win
Rein Man

Raydara facing Flash test
Mick Halford is hoping to find out more about his promising filly Raydara in Thursday's Jockey Club Of Turkey Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown.
The Aga Khan-owned juvenile created a nice impression over the same seven-furlong course and distance, going one better than on her debut in a maiden a week ago.
With a lack of options until the end of next month, Halford has no qualms in sending his filly out again quickly.
"She's in good form after her race last week and didn't have a particularly hard race, so we said we'd pull her out again as there was nowhere else to go until the Debutante," he said.
"She has a nice draw and this race will tell us more about her. All you can do is produce them in good form and I'm happy with her."
Raydara had the Aidan O'Brien-trained pair of Qualify and Cocoon in behind on her debut and that duo are in opposition once again.
"She stepped forward from the Curragh and the others will as well. It's that time of year when two year-olds improve," he said.
Eddie Lynam is enjoying a stellar season with the likes of Slade Power, Sole Power and Anthem Alexander, and his Agnes Stewart looked smart when winning on her debut at Fairyhouse at a big price.
"She's fine. She's in good form and we're hoping for the best," said Lynam.
"It's a step up in class and we'll just have to see how she handles that."
Jessica Harrington's Jack Naylor, the O'Brien-trained As Good As Gold, Jim Bolger's New Alliance and Dermot Weld's Fairyhouse winner Marsali make up the field.
Weld said: "She was an impressive winner of the race at Fairyhouse. She handles fast ground and we're expecting a good run."

Lyons takes aim at Tyros double
Ger Lyons is looking to secure back-to-back wins in the Japanese Racing Authority Tyros Stakes when Convergence runs at Leopardstown on Thursday.
Exogenesis claimed the spoils for Lyons 12 months ago and Convergence is one of just three runners declared for the Group Three over seven furlongs.
The most experienced horse in the field, the Cape Cross colt has improved with racing and had Aidan O'Brien's Gleneagles, whom he meets again, back in fourth when winning last time out.
"He deserves to take his chance. He has already beaten Aidan's horse, who looks likely to go off favourite, so we'll take our chance and hope for the best," said Lyons.
"With the conditions of the race I don't know why there are so few runners."
Completing the field is Dermot Weld's Tombelaine, owned by Khalid Abdullah and a comfortable winner from subsequent 12-length scorer Highland Reel on his debut.
"He's a progressive colt and we're hoping he runs well. It looks a very high-quality race," said Weld.

Midgley delivers Silva service
Paul Midgley was a relieved man when Silvanus streaked away with the Skybet Supporting The Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival Handicap at Catterick.
The veteran sprinter, now a nine-year-old, is not known for his consistency but had run his best race for some time last time out when he chased home vaunted stablemate Line Of Reason at York.
Everything appeared in his favour in front of a bumper crowd for the fifth day of the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival, and so it proved.
Midgley barely had a moment of worry watching the action unfold as the race panned out just as he expected, with Silvanus taking up the running from Red Baron and Mutafaakir just inside the final furlong. The 9-2 chance pulled impressively clear under PJ McDonald, giving the jockey a double, to win by a length and half from the staying-on favourite Cruise Tothelimit.
"Everything worked out perfectly for him. He had a good draw, fast ground and got a lovely lead into the race. I'm pleased PJ has ridden a winner for me as well," said Midgley.
"If he hadn't have won I'd have been very disappointed, not just for him and his owners, but more so for the horse who beat him (Line Of Reason) last time. He's going to York on Saturday for the Skybet Dash and I can't wait.
"He's in brilliant form and Paul Mulrennan will ride him."
McDonald had earlier struck on Ann Duffield's promising newcomer Kayo Koko (10-1), who was an impressive two-length winner of the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes.
A bargain buy from the Doncaster breeze-ups, the Zebedee filly continued the resurgent form of the yard, who endured a slow start to the season.
Duffield said: "We bought her at the breeze-ups and we've liked her from day one, we were amazed we only had to pay £9,000 for her.
"We've got a nice bunch of two-year-olds this year. I can't say I thought she'd go and win by two lengths first time out as I didn't think Catterick would suit - we only brought her here because she was ready for a run.
"She must be decent because she lost a shoe coming out of the stalls. We took her to Ripon for a gallop and she went nicely so we had an idea what we had."
Mark Johnston's Summer Times was a beaten 2-5 favourite in third behind Kayo Koko and the Middleham handler suffered another expensive reverse when Midlander was unplaced at even-money in the Pin Point Recruitment Nursery.
The race was won by Kevin Ryan's Kylach Me If U Can (6-1), placed in three maidens and running off an opening mark of 68.
Richard Fahey's Stardrifter (10-11 favourite) did oblige for favourite-backers, however, when successful in the Download The Racing UK iPad App Selling Stakes. The Tony Hamilton-ridden eight-length winner was bought back in for £12,000.
David Nicholls is another trainer whose form has picked up recently and he was celebrating again as his son, Adrian, timed it to perfection on Cape Of Hope (11-4) in the radioyorkshire.co.uk Your Local Sports Station Claiming Stakes.
Last rounding the home turn, he collared Patrona Ciana, also owned by Middleham Park Racing, to win cosily by half a length, with the pair seven lengths clear of the rest.
Goadby (6-1) just held off Red Cape in the August 15th Is Ladies' Evening Handicap, while Tinseltown won for a fourth time at the North Yorkshire circuit in the catterickbridge.co.uk Apprentice Training Series Handicap.

Prize boost for Newmarket heats
Newmarket's key juvenile races in September have been given a prize money boost which has coincided with an increase in entries.
The meeting on Friday, September 26 sees the Group Two Shadwell Rockfel Stakes, which has swapped places with the Fillies' Mile and has attracted 80 possibles after being boosted by £30,000 to £100,000.
Saturday's feature, the Group One Connolly's Red Mills Cheveley Park Stakes, is up £10,000 to £180,000 and has 50 entries at the initial stage, up from 37 last year.
One horse engaged in both the Rockfel and Cheveley Park is Roger Varian's ultra-impressive Albany Stakes winner Cursory Glance.
Varian said: "She has done great since Ascot. She has definitely improved physically, she's a beautiful filly, very talented, and I am very happy with her.
"I don't know yet what her autumn programme will be but she's won a Group Three so all Group Two and Group One options are open to her."
Other Cheveley Park entries include Arabian Queen, Tiggy Wiggy and Anthem Alexander.
The Juddmonte Royal Lodge, up £10,000 to £110,000 has 100 possibles at this stage, including Estidhkaar and Richard Pankhurst. ========================================
Sunset shines for Her Majesty
Fiery Sunset was a welcome winner for The Queen at Lingfield just 24 hours after it emerged her 2013 Gold Cup victor Estimate had tested positive for morphine.
Fiery Sunset, trained by Michael Bell, was the first horse to run in Her Majesty's colours since the news broke and the three-year-old filly opened her account in pleasing fashion in the Aldermore Block Discounting Maiden Stakes.
Richard Hughes was always sitting pretty on the 6-1 chance as Jonny Rae made the running. The champion jockey kicked on before the home turn and held the late challenge of Button Down by a length and a quarter, with the 11-4 favourite Saarrem third.
All eyes at the start were on Battle Group, who refused to race in this year's Crabbie's Grand National. The Johnny Farrelly-trained nine-year-old consented to go in the stalls on his Flat debut but that was as good as it got as he was never in the hunt under Liam Keniry and finished tailed off.

Goodwood target for Tropics
July Cup runner-up Tropics is to drop back in trip to five furlongs in the King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood for his next race.
Dean Ivory's stable star enjoyed a stellar season last year but with the yard under a cloud, he had been below-par to date in this campaign.
The six-year-old bounced right back to his best at Newmarket, though, and will run over five furlongs for the first time in his career.
"It was like a win to me - it was one of the hardest Group Ones you'll ever get. We were second to what they are calling the fastest horse in Europe (Slade Power)," Ivory told At The Races.
"You could say we were lucky not to be third as some were finishing strongly, but Robert (Winston) said he had a little bit more to come.
"As the winner was coming up to us we thought we'd stretch them out a little bit, so we used Tropics up a little bit earlier than usual.
"That horse has got bags of speed, such a high cruising speed which is why I'm thinking of dropping him down to five for the King George at Goodwood just to see.
"If he's as good over five, it would open up the Prix de l'Abbaye. I'll take the hood off him and I think that will sharpen him up a bit more.
"After Goodwood we'll aim for Haydock and maybe take on Slade Power again."

Gosden team among Leger entries
John Gosden has a strong team among the 33 entries for this year's Ladbrokes St Leger as he goes in search of a fifth win in the Doncaster Classic on September 13.
Derby third Romsdal and King Edward VII victor Eagle Top, both possibles for Saturday's King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, appear his main hopes.
They are supplemented by Forever Now, Marzocco and Cloudscape.
However, there is no place on the team for Sunday's impressive Prix Eugene Adam winner Western Hymn.
Aidan O'Brien has seven entries as he aims to follow up last year's win with Leading Light, who subsequently landed the Ascot Gold Cup.
O'Brien does not have a standout contender at this stage though, with Irish Derby runner-up Kingfisher arguably showing the best form to date.
Indian Maharaja, Granddukeoftuscany, Adjusted, Annus Mirabilis, Blue Hussar and Buonarroti are his other possibles.
Roger Charlton has a live contender in Observational, winner of the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood. He will return to the Sussex venue next week for the Neptune Investment Management Gordon Stakes to have his claims tested.
"We have entered Observational in the Ladbrokes St Leger and it's a race we are looking at," said Charlton.
"Everything is fine with him. He will go for the Gordon Stakes next and we will see how he gets on there before deciding if he needs another run before the St Leger.
"I would not be too concerned about stepping up in trip."
Other leading lights at this stage include Godolphin's Royal Ascot winner Elite Army, Sir Michael Stoute's Snow Sky and Kings Fete, impressive at Doncaster last time out, and the Derby runner-up Kingston Hill for Roger Varian.
Mark Johnston's Hartnell will aim to keep the prize in the north while the likes of Derby fifth Red Galileo and Scotland are others engaged at this stage.
Ladbrokes St Leger, sponsors bet: 5-1 Kingston Hill, Romsdal; 6-1 Eagle Top, Elite Army; 7-1 Hartnell; 14-1 Kingfisher, Cloudscape, Kings Fete, Granddukeoftuscany; 16-1 bar.

Field pitch perfect for Ascot raid
Jamie Osborne could not be happier with Field Of Dream ahead of the £150,000 Longines International Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
The seven-year-old won the race two years ago and showed he was just as effective over a mile when victorious in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot last month.
His other win in the interim came in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket last July, but Osborne decided to skip a defence of that crown as the ground turned against Field Of Dream following heavy rain.
The Lambourn handler feels missing Newmarket and heading back to Ascot with a fresh horse is a big advantage.
"He should have the fast ground he needs and now all we can do is hope for a kind draw," said Osborne.
"It may work to his advantage that the ground went soft for the Bunbury Cup which meant we just come straight for this as it gives us a little bit of extra time.
"I always think it helps him if his races are spread out as he seems to be better when fresher.
"He's in very good nick and is capable of running a big race."
========================================
Panther sidesteps George date
Brown Panther will bypass Saturday's King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot in favour of defending his Artemis Goodwood Cup crown next week.
Tom Dascombe's stable star was seventh in the middle-distance midsummer showpiece, sponsored by Qipco British Champions Series, two years ago but is better known as a stayer.
The six-year-old has already won two major prizes over further than a mile and a half this season, the Ormonde and Henry II Stakes, as well as finishing fourth in the Gold Cup at the Royal meeting.
The going was soft for both his victories this term but conditions look like being much livelier at the Berkshire track at the weekend.
Michael Owen, Brown Panther's breeder and co-owner, tweeted: "We have decided to skip Saturday's King George VI to defend our Goodwood Cup crown next week."

Trainer caught up in morphine case
Oxfordshire trainer Eve Johnson Houghton is the latest trainer to come forward and reveal one of her horses has tested positive for morphine.
The Didcot handler has confirmed the three-year-old gelding Charlie Wells failed a drugs test after winning the 32Red Classified Stakes at Chepstow on June 23, after which he has been placed in two other races.
She is mystified as to where the contaminated food was contained and has had all of her string tested as a precaution.
"I had all my horses tested, but they haven't come up with the results yet. I don't know which bit of feed it's in, but hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it, and hopefully it's a one-off," said Johnson Houghton.
Johnson Houghton admitted to using some products provided by animal feed manufacturer, Dodson & Horrell. Earlier on Wednesday that company announced it was holding a full investigation into how possible component contamination could have occurred after Estimate, owned by The Queen, also tested positive for morphine.
Initial indications are that the positive test taken from the 2013 Ascot Gold Cup winner resulted from the consumption of a contaminated feed product, Buckingham Palace said in statement on Tuesday evening. The Palace said Her Majesty has been informed of the development.
Dodson & Horrell, horse and dog food manufacturer to The Queen since 2006, identified Alfalfa Oil Plus as the possible product which had been contaminated but that it may not have happened on its premises. The company said it has launched a "thorough investigation" with an unnamed supplier of the product.
Dodson & Horrell believes contamination could have come from poppy seeds that occur naturally in the environment.
A statement issued on behalf of Dodson & Horrell read: "Preliminary investigations suggest that any contamination of this component product did not occur at Dodson & Horrell's site. The investigation is currently centring on Dodson & Horrell's supplier.
"Dodson & Horrell has recalled batch numbers week 20-28 of Alfalfa Oil Plus as a precautionary measure, in accordance with our procedures and NOPS (naturally occurring prohibited substances) protocol. No positive test results have been recorded in any other Dodson & Horrell product currently in the market.
"From information currently available to us, it appears that any contamination may have come from poppy seeds that occur naturally in the environment. Please note this does not affect the welfare of the animal.
"Investigations are ongoing through the official and correct channels. Information will be shared by Dodson & Horrell as it becomes available."
Estimate, trained in Newmarket by Sir Michael Stoute, produced one of the headline stories of last season with a nail-biting triumph in the Gold Cup at the Royal meeting. S he then went down narrowly to Leading Light in the defence of her crown last month.
The five-year-old mare is reportedly still in contention for the Artemis Goodwood Cup next Thursday and worked on Wednesday morning over nine furlongs in Newmarket alongside stablemates Snow Sky and Top Tug.
The Queen's Fiery Sunset also won in her colours at Lingfield on Wednesday. The three-year-old, trained by Michael Bell got off the mark in pleasing fashion in the Aldermore Block Discounting Maiden Stakes under champion jockey Richard Hughes.
The British Horseracing Authority announced last week that five horses under the care of various trainers have been reported to show the presence of morphine in their 'A' samples.
"Once all processes have been completed, the cases will be put before a disciplinary panel who will decide what action, if any, should be taken. This may include the disqualification of the horses in question from the relevant races," said a BHA statement last Thursday.
Lambourn trainer Charlie Hills is reportedly one of the other trainers who has had a horse test positive for morphine.

Five convicted fraudsters who amassed a fortune in a horse racing betting scam have had assets worth more than £7.5 million confiscated following a hearing today, 23 July, at Brighton Crown Court.
John (Jock) McCracken, 48, formerly of Whitehawk Road, Brighton was today ordered to pay back £240,000. The judge gave him six months to repay the amount. McCracken faces a jail sentence of three years if he fails to repay the sum within this time.
Previously on 14 May 2014, Paul Spicer, 39, formerly of **** Road, Brighton was ordered to repay £3,050,000 within six months. He faces an eight year jail sentence if the amount is not repaid. His twin brother Gregory Spicer (no image available) formerly of The Drove, Brighton was ordered to repay the same amount, with the same repayment conditions.
On 16 May 2014, John Brice, 41, formerly of Sandringham Road, Hove was ordered to repay £414,000 within six months, or face a four year jail sentence. Matthew Thole, 41, of Michaelston-y-Fedw, Cardiff was ordered to repay £850,000 within six months or face a jail sentence of four and a half years.
The judge ordered that twenty-one victims, who gave evidence in the original criminal trial, will receive over £130,000 between them.
All five defendants have also been made subject of Financial Reporting Orders (FROs), requiring them to submit a detailed report, with every detail of their finances, to the police every year for the next five years.
Today’s confiscation hearing was the culmination of a complex investigation into the fraudulent dealings of the five men. Two criminal trials resulted in Paul and Gregory Spicer being convicted of conspiracy to defraud in June 2010. They were each sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment. Subsequently in July 2013, John Brice, Matthew Thole and John McCracken were convicted of the same offences. Brice and Thole each received prison sentences of four years, with McCracken receiving a five year sentence.
The five men were all involved in a horse racing betting scam, where hundreds of thousands of members of the public were sent glossy brochures encouraging them to join fake horseracing betting investment schemes. The brochures all contained guarantees of profits as well as testimonials from fictitious users. Complaints were received from across the UK and detectives estimate the fraudsters amassed several million pounds from the scam. Paul and Gregory Spicer acquired a property portfolio of 16 properties in Malaga and Mijas, Spain.
The London Regional Asset Recovery Team (RART) worked in conjunction with Merton Trading Standards and Sussex Police‘s Financial Investigations Unit on the case.
DS Marek Coghill of the London Regional Asset Recovery Team, said: “These men amassed a fortune from this betting scam and I am delighted that as well as receiving custodial sentences, they are now having the proceeds of their crimes confiscated. The success of the financial investigation which has led to today's confiscation orders being made reflects the determination of the Regional Asset Recovery Team and our partners to remove the profits of criminal enterprise. I am pleased that the courts have recognised the large amount to be made from this type of crime, leading to today's terrific result.”

The Stewards also enquired into the reason why Ryan Moore had left Newmarket within 5 minutes of the “Weighed In” announcement being given, when required to attend an enquiry. Having heard his evidence they found him in breach of Rule (D)47.5 and fined him £290.
3.30, fourth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference on the bend leaving the back straight. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that KAKAPUKA, placed third, ridden by Martin Harley, had interfered with MISTER MAYDAY (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Pat Cosgrave, which in turn interfered with PASSING BY, unplaced, ridden by Richard Hughes. The Stewards found Harley in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding, in that he had allowed his horse to drift left. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 August 2014.
5.00, seventh race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, GAVLAR, ridden by Tom Queally and trained by William Knight, compared with the gelding’s previous run at Pontefract on 30 June 2014, where it finished sixth of thirteen, beaten 25 ¾ lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that GAVLAR had benefited from the application of a visor for the first time.

Catterick Bridge, 23 July 2014
2.20, first race
The Stewards noted that SUMMER TIMES, placed third, hung left and interfered with BOMBAY MIX, unplaced, inside the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved SUMMER TIMES’s placing.
The Starter reported that SIREN’S COVE, trained by James Tate, refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
2.50, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of HAFINA, ridden by Graham Gibbons and trained by Michael Easterby, which was in the rear in the early stages and ran on in the latter stages to finish fourth, beaten some 12¼ lengths. They interviewed the rider who stated that his instructions were to achieve the best possible placing. He added that the filly had been denied a clear run in the back straight and although staying on past beaten horses in the home straight HAFINA had been green and hung left. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted his explanation.
4.50, sixth race

23/07/2014
Leicester, 23 July 2014
6.15, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Robert Winston, the rider of COISTE BODHAR (IRE), placed fourth, appeared to stop riding on two occasions inside the one and a half furlong marker. Having heard his evidence, along with that of the Veterinary Officer and viewed recordings of the race they noted his explanation that the gelding’s saddle started to slip back from passing the two furlong marker and he was concerned for his safety. He added that the gelding became unbalanced and moved awkwardly when appearing not to be handling the good to firm, good in places ground, both of which he reported at Scales. Winston further added that inside the final half furlong he felt the saddle had moved forward to a position that enabled him to guide COISTE BODHAR (IRE) home under a hands and heels ride.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, FIRST EXPERIENCE, ridden by Kieren Fallon and trained by Rae Guest, compared with its previous run at Warwick on 4 July 2014 where the filly finished sixth of ten, beaten by 14 lengths. Paul Townend is excited by the prospect of teaming up with Pique Sous in the Guinness Galway Hurdle at the Ballybrit track on Thursday week. Paul Townend (r) is excited by Pique Sous The grey is champion jumps trainer Willie Mullins' only entry in the valuable handicap and Townend has come in for the plum ride as stable jockey Ruby Walsh is sidelined with a shoulder injury. Pique Sous will be seeking to make amends for being pulled up in the race 12 months ago when the ground was too soft for him. The seven-year-old is a different proposition on a faster surface, as he showed when winning the Queen Alexandra Stakes on the Flat at Royal Ascot last month. "He's exciting now and fingers crossed. It's a competitive race and you need a lot of luck, but he's a good ride to have in it and I'm looking forward to riding him," Townend told At The Races. "It was just too soft for him last year. Hopefully it stays lively and he turns up and gives a good account of himself."

Jamie Osborne could not be happier with Field Of Dream ahead of the £150,000 Longines International Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. Field of Dream is set for a return to Ascot The seven-year-old won the race two years ago and showed he was just as effective over a mile when victorious in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot last month.

Brown Panther will bypass Saturday's King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot in favour of defending his Artemis Goodwood Cup crown next week. Brown Panther heads to Goodwood Tom Dascombe's stable star was seventh in the middle-distance midsummer showpiece, sponsored by QIPCO British Champions Series, two years ago but is better known as a stayer. Michael Owen, Brown Panther's breeder and co-owner, tweeted: "We have decided to skip Saturday's King George VI to defend our Goodwood Cup crown next week." The going at Ascot on Wednesday was described as good to firm, good in places. Both the straight and round courses were being watered again on Wednesday due to the warm, sunny weather. Clerk of the course Chris Stickels said: "On Monday we put 10 millimetres on the straight course and are doing the same again. We didn't water the straight course on Tuesday. "We put four millimetres on the round course on Monday night and Tuesday night and will go again tonight to maintain current conditions. "It's warm, sunny and dry. There is the possibility of a thundery shower, maybe Friday, but it looks like this lovely weather is going to be with us until Sunday at this stage. "If all goes to plan today we won't water the straight course again tomorrow. We may water the round course. We're only putting four millimetres on there in the evening. "I'll play it by ear a bit, but we are unlikely to water the straight course tomorrow. "It's a possibility we might need to water on Friday night, but we will have to see how the week unfolds."

I want to take on Snow Squall at Sandown with Devilment and Norse Star. The favourite won in a good time last time out and looks progressive but this is tougher and he is 5lb worse off with Norse Star for a length defeat at Salisbury. He was short of room that day but Norse Star would have wanted more of a test and he's over 4 times bigger in the market at 9/1. There's a bit of pace on today and that will suit, as will the step back up in trip. He will love the ground on breeding too, though his sole win came with cut in the ground. Devilment hated the ground last time and could be ahead of his mark now back on quick but he's too short to play. Sandown 14.30 - Norse Star 1pt e/w
Tinshu is better on the all weather but has dropped to a handy mark on turf, 9lb below her last all weather win and 3 below her last success on turf. That came on quick ground when chasing a decent pace over this trip at Newmarket with Dane O'Neill on top. He has ridden her to 5 of her 10 career wins and its pleasing to see him back on with the yard just hitting form. If anything there may be too much pace this afternoon and she doesn't get further than this but has been placed on her last 3 starts over course and distance and it's worth playing at b>16/1 to see if things fall her way. Recent signs have been more encouraging. I can't split the 2 likeable 3 year olds at the top of the market at the prices so will leave them well alone. Sandown 15.40 - Tinshu 1pt e/w

John Gosden plans to walk the course at Ascot on Friday before making a final decision on whether to let Eagle Top line up in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. Telescope heads the King George field The three-year-old was a brilliant winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at the Royal meeting last month and was supplemented for this weekend's Group One showpiece at a cost of £75,000 on Monday. However, Gosden was hoping for rain ahead of the weekend and with the chances of any falling ahead of the race seemingly diminishing, he admits it is not yet certain Eagle Top will take his chance. "Eagle Top is in very good form. Unfortunately our supplementary system is five days before the race. In France, it's a much better system, it's at 48 hours," Gosden told At The Races. "At the five-day stage there was talk of thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday, but now it looks like the rain is much more likely on Sunday. "With the owners, who know the family well and know the horse well, we'll make a decision. I'll be at Ascot tomorrow (Friday) and walk the track. Then we will be making our decision. "He's a very nice horse, but I didn't really want to run him twice on too fast a ground. He did it well at Royal Ascot, but he's bred more for good, good to soft ground." Eagle Top is one of three three-year-olds declared by the master of Clarehaven Stables, with Epsom Oaks heroine Taghrooda and Derby third Romsdal both set to tackle their elders for the first time. Taghrooda looked set to bid for a Classic double in last weekend's Irish Oaks at the Curragh, but was taken out of the race last Thursday with owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum making the bold call to run her this weekend instead. Mukhadram won the Coral-Eclipse for William Haggas earlier in the month and steps up to a mile and a half for the first time, with Dane O'Neill taking the ride as Sheikh Hamdan's retained rider Paul Hanagan has unsurprisingly sided with Taghrooda. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Telescope produced the performance he has long promised with a brilliant display in the Hardwicke Stakes over the King George course and distance, earning himself a step up to Group One level. There is a strong presence from Ireland with Aidan O'Brien's Prince of Wales's Stakes runner-up Magician joined by the Jim Bolger-trained pair of Leitir Mor and Trading Leather. The latter, who carries the colours of Godolphin, was runner-up behind Mukhadram in the Eclipse and big-race jockey Kevin Manning is confident he can make his presence felt this weekend. "You could make a case for basically every horse in the race. It's a very good race," said Manning. "He's going there in good shape and I'm looking forward to riding him. I think he'll put up a big show." Andre Fabre's French challenger Flintshire complete the nine-strong line-up.

Ante-post favourite Horsted Keynes is among a maximum field of 29 declared for the Longines International Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. Roger Varian: Trains Horsted Keynes The Roger Varian-trained four-year-old will attempt to go one better than on his last visit to the Berkshire venue. That came at the Royal meeting when he was second to Louis The Pious in the Buckingham Palace Handicap over the same seven furlongs. David O'Meara's runner is again in the line-up. O'Meara also has Watchable, who was third on that occasion, but has taken out top-weight Penitent which leaves Denis Coakley's Gabriel's Lad at the head of the handicap. The Marcus Tregoning-trained Bronze Angel, fourth in the Buckingham Palace, renews rivalry on the back of a victory at York for which he incurred a 3lb penalty. Jamie Osborne's Royal Hunt Cup hero Field Of Dream is bidding for another major handicap success while other fancied contenders include Ayaar, Belgian Bill, Abseil and Bunbury Cup winner Heaven's Guest. Absolutely So, runner-up in that handicap at the Newmarket July meeting, is a notable absentee while Mike Murphy's American Hope missed the cut by one.

iew from connections ahead of Friday's Listed Woodcote Stud EBF Valiant Stakes at Ascot. Kiyoshi drops in class Charlie Hills is hoping Kiyoshi can gain an overdue success when dropped in class for the Listed Woodcote Stud EBF Stallions Valiant Stakes at Ascot on Friday. The talented filly has not won since taking the Group Three Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last year, but has only tackled Group One races since then. Placed in the Moyglare Stud and Cheveley Park Stakes on her final starts as a two-year-old, she made a belated seasonal debut in the Coronation Stakes at the Royal meeting and was not beaten far when unplaced behind Rizeena. Nothing went right on her latest start when she took on older fillies for the first time in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket's July meeting and ended up sixth of seven to Integral on rain-softened ground. Hills reports the Qatar Racing-owned daughter of Dubawi in prime condition, though he does fear Euro Charline, who finished ahead of Kiyoshi in the Coronation Stakes. "I don't think she really liked the soft ground at Newmarket, but she got a little bit intimidated somehow through the race and lost her place completely and had to use some of her energy to get back into the race," said the Lambourn trainer. "She's come back and looks fantastic. She looks a picture and we thought we'd drop her in grade. It would be nice to get her head in front and build up her confidence. "Euro Charline is obviously in there and a danger. It won't be easy." Euro Charline was a fine third in the Coronation Stakes and takes her chance after connections decided to put back her proposed departure to America. "She's in good form. It's a small field and on her rating she should have a good chance and we are very hopeful," said trainer Marco Botti. "The original plan for her has changed a little bit. She was supposed to go to Saratoga but they have decided to leave here for the time being. "We will just see how she goes and then speak to the owners about what happens next." Zurigha has already won twice at this level and has her first run since being out of the money behind Thistle Bird in the Group Three Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom seven weeks ago. However, her trainer Richard Hannon believes she faces a stiff task as she has to give weight all round. "She has not yet shown her form on turf this year, but she ran better at Epsom last time, so, hopefully, we are getting there. However, the penalty makes it tough," the Marlborough trainer told www.richardhannonracing.co.uk.
