Chewing wood. Blackjacks. 3d on a pop bottle. Beer at home means Davenports. The Corona man delivering. I think it was 6d on a pop bottle when my time came. And yes to the Corona man delivering. Corona... and what about Cresta? Remember this advert? And what about those lemon sherbert tubes with the liquorice "straw". They were yummy! BC

Kimmy,
I think the Eagle came before the Lion, but long before them of course were the Dandy and the Beano.
I certainly remember Banger's Sporting Investor. The Empire News was another Sunday newspaper.

Can you remember going to school in thick snow? No talk about schools closing. Making slides in the playground. The long ones for the 'big boys' the small ones for the 'little boys.' You were lucky if the heating worked. If not keep your coat on. Half a pint of milk at morning break. Icicles hanging from guttering and snow falling off roofs onto people walking underneath. Can never ever remember my schools closing for bad weather.

One of my first memories as wee boy was this great big Indian boy wearing a turban selling cutlary from a suitcase round the doors . This record used to make cry when I was a bairn thought it was hellish sad for some reason lol Used to look forward to the Oor Wullie books at christmas where the main characters were Wullie...Soapy Souter... Fat Bob & Wee Eck ;D. www.thatsbraw.co.uk/Oor%20Wullie/OW-Page.htmAlso used to love the smell of the Oranges & Apples in your Christmas Stocking you just knew it was Christmas Morning

Yes always an apple and orange in your stocking. Pillow case bulging with different size boxes. Leaving the biggest until the last to be opened. They were hard times but your parents did their best.
