Just asking if anyone apart from racing is a dab hand at a bit of gardening ?
With a bit more time on my hands of late i`ve decided to grow some veg I have some toms just poking their little heads in a growbag at the moment but would like to venture into more so any tips you have would be very nice
Cheers Trebor
On a side note i like to brew hedgerow wines so if you would like any tips or have any on that also that would be great

Well it goes without saying Kimmy As my Brother has his own computer shop I'm sure i can find some suitable packaging. Although we do like to play with the bubble wrap to pass the time Well onto the gardening side of things, its been a cracking few weeks around here and i think i have over done it with the Tomatoes. I thought use the whole packet in two grow bags thinking some of them might not survive Well how wrong, I will probably end up with how many the average seed count it said on the packet 50 Well i hope my family like tomatoes ;D So this week i`ve spent some of my winnings on some planting troughs, compost and a few more packets of seeds (I can see Trebors Fruit And Veg opening soon ) I`m also hoping to get some more strawberry plants to plant out soon but i cant see that big of a crop this year to turn into some nice strawberry wine I will give you all 1 tip about strawberrys i did buy 2 plants 2 years ago and like i read up KEEP them off the ground ideally on a bed of straw So ok i bought some hamster bedding straw Bad idea it seems there must have been some grass seed in it and it was bye bye strawberrys as the grass grew a lot faster than my sweet little fruits and choked them to death So back to square one with that idea, The grass roots that took hold had alienated the whole underground of the large old type washing basin i had used Anyway lesson learned hence this thread Cheers Trebor

Until 15 or so years ago I loved gardening, potato's runner ,beans cabbages a greenhouse filled with tomato's cucumbers that is until Vandals smashed the glass,it was then I thought why,so I gave it all up gave the greenhouse frame to some young lads just starting an allotment Raked and rolled the vegetable garden then sowed grass seed I tended it for a few years but it seemed to get harder to keep it in trim ,then a kind neighbour said "Look don't you be doing that let me " and so he did until he moved 3 years ago now I have a fine wildlife garden where the cat keeps getting lost Keep up your reports They make great reading PS Just had a man come in with a strimmer it now looks nearly normal

Well i raided the veg patch yesterday only three ripe tomatoes and small ones at that ;D but they tasted great on a cheese butty Also grabbed five nice size carrots and two parsnips(i thought i had planted turnips ;D ) So i did a taste test with the carrots against sainsburys organic ones well the organic ones seemed tasteless compared to mine, mine seemed a lot sweeter Hmm Yummy The parsnips, well they will be roasted on sunday and eaten with sunday lunch Cheers for reading Trebor
