Copied from the other forum. Make selections for the VDW Selections table on here below the guidelines for entry onto the table, which will run to the end of the 2010 flat season, (unless anyone else is happy to takeover logging them).
As they are VDW style selections, there shouldn't that many a week, and I can cope with logging a few. However, if anyone wants to go through the card or whatever, I can give you access to self-log them, as Skyrack has.

I've simply modified one I've been using for myself, as you'll see.
Each contributors name appears at the top, and links to their individual page.
The Guidelines
There are two aspects to consider when looking at how we're doing. One is strike rate. The other is profitability. No point getting an 80% SR and breaking even is there?
These guidelines should help to give us framework to work to and after a while, hopefully a reasonable insight into our betting patterns will emerge.
Do try to remember, this isn't a competition. We're only competing against ourselves. Yes, sure, we all want to be doing better than the other fellow. But at the end of the day, the important thing is we learn to improve ourselves. It's all very well discussing what may or may not help. Quite another demonstrating it pre-race and being able to measure both the results and the improvements.
I am going to try to cater for everybody’s different takes on things, (singles, dutching, each-ways , etc), but within a framework that makes it manageable.
OK, to the guidelines:
1. Selection must be clearly stated. Either the word "Selection". Or something like "my choice is", or "I am backing" or even, as I intend to do, a post with nothing other than the selection. If you want to mention other horses as part of an analysis, (which is optional), that's up to you, but just make sure your actual selection is OBVIOUS. If it isn’t clear to me, I will send the boys 'round.
2. Don't get upset with how other people are posting their selections. If there is a dispute, I will make a decision and please just let it go at that. Remember, one result either way won't affect the overall results and trends much. And always keep in mind this is about YOU. Forget "them".
3. When making a selection, you MUST post the time, course and selection. I have to look the results up and haven’t got time to go searching the world.
4. Each bet (or race) selected will have 10 points on it.
5. If you dutch two (or more) in a race, each bet will have an equal share of the 10 on it, (e.g. if there are 2 horses in the race, 5 points go on each, etc) unless you specify 7.23 on A and 2.77 on B, for example.
6. If you dutch, and one of them wins, I will treat that as a winning bet for SR purposes only if you are IN PROFIT for the race (subject to 6a - if the profit is tiny, the bet will be considered a cover bet).
6a. If you make a cover bet - if one wins, but you only break even*, the bet will be logged in such as way as not to affect the SR. Chances are that the selection was meant as a cover bet, and if it comes in, it seems reasonable for it not to affect the SR.
(*As SP's fluctuate, let's also say "give or take a small amount either way").
7. Each way is fine, and will be staked 5EW (i.e. 10 in total). But this is how I will treat it. If it wins, it is obviously a win. If it places and you are IN PROFIT as a result, it is a win. If it places at less than, say 4/1, it is a loser. If you just about break even, it will be logged so as not to affect the SR. Don't worry about it if it goes against you. Remember, this is just one small result and the 'clock' re-sets at 10 bets.
8. E/W bets will be settled at 1/5 odds for non-handicaps and 1/4 the odds for all handicaps.
5-7 runners 1/2
8-15 runners 1/2/3
Handicaps 16+ runners 1/2/3/4
9. Irish races are OK. French races only if the results will appear on the Racing Post website (e.g. the Arc). Nothing else, unless there is a specific request for, say, the Breeders Cup.
10. RE-SET. There will be a little table for each contributor. And each table will run for 10 slections only. Then a new table will start. The reason for this is that, hopefully, we will be trying to improve and as we improve, we can see the overall trend of our 10-slot SR's improving.
11. All selections for the table must be posted on the VDW pre-race selections thread to be counted for the table. Feel free to post them elsewhere for discussion if you want to. But to go into the table - they must be posted on the VDW pre-race selections thread. Thanks.
12. If you take an early price, you may state it and I will use that for calculation purposes. Otherwise, it will be SP. It's not a competition - only use genuine odds! (Larry suggestion 9/1/10)
No doubt other considerations will occur to us as we go along, so the guidelines are not “set in stone”.
It would be helpful, although not mandatory, to specify the selections in a similar format as the Tipping Competition (as it is easier for me to import them into a table like that). If this gets too time-consuming, I may have to make that compulsory. Let’s see how we go.

Edited to incorporate a small change to Rule 7 (EW result logging) to bring in line with the dutching change.
