Not won since February ’07, which is 18 races back, plus has never enjoyed success beyond 20f. The fact that he’s running off 19lbs lower than his highest winning mark suggests age has caught up with him.

Will have taken to the course no fewer than 25 times since last winning in June ’07, yet runs of only a 7lb lower mark. Nevertheless, has turned in a couple of reasonable efforts of late over 24f at Musselburgh under today’s rider and as such deserves to be considered, especially if the ground should become any faster.

Has shown the best of his form on softer ground and over shorter distances. Only success came over 20f on sf ground here last February and is still running off a 7lb higher mark. Nothing in recent form to suggest he’s ready to win today.

Yet to find success in 5 starts over fences and his mark is some 7lbs lower than that over hurdles. Nevertheless, has shown a little promise on a couple of occasions, although on softer ground than this. Nevertheless, come from the SJ Smith stable and looks more likely than stable companion Presenting Alf
General Hardi 8-11-12 OR 96

Still to get off the mark, although he has gone very close a couple of times of late, only getting beaten on the run-in over 20f here in November and over 26f at Catterick earlier this month. However, he’s been raised 5lbs for that and is joint top weight here, as well as a maiden.
Not the greatest chase field I’ve ever seen, filled with those that can’t win and those that have forgotten how. Pays your money and takes your pick I guess, and I wouldn’t even rule out a first-time visor doing the trick for Trisons Star. However, if I was forced to bet, which thankfully I’m not, I’d be perverse and go for General Hardi to eventually get off the mark.
