Ugaro (+11) was 28l 5th
Gidam Gidam had previously finished 10.5l 3/19 in a 157 HC
Appreciated the better ground at Doncaster lto, for which he has only been raised 3lbs and along with the autumn, this is his time of year. Holds Ungaro on that running and should again be there or thereabouts.

Darkness had previously PU/ in a 570 HC
Irish challenger who returned to form at Doncaster last month. Unable to build on that off an 8lb higher Mark at Newbury however, catching the unpredictable Darkness on a going day.

held up in rear, headway 7th, chased leaders 4 out, 3rd and keeping on same pace when hit last
Church Island had previously finished 7l 1/12 in a 163 HC (SB)
It’s been a long time between drinks, although his mark hasn’t dropped much thanks to the numerous times he’s been placed in between. Meets Church Island on 9lbs better terms than at Doncaster, but have the feeling that he’s a little one-paced where it matters, plus could be better suited by going the other way.

held up, headway 13th, led and hit last, driven out
By George had previously finished 1.35l 3/10 in a 65 NHC
Has been raised 7lbs for Huntingdon success and despite the drop in weight, may well find the step up in class more than he can handle today.
Others:
Ungaro – has something to find with Out The Black on latest running at Doncaster, and was PU at Kempton the week before that.
Bleu Superbe – has never even made the frame beyond 16f.
Oscar Park – only novice chaser last year but not seen since finishing down the field in the SunAlliance last year. Has gone well fresh in the past, but asking a lot even if Timmy has been booked.
Hobbs Hill – looked useful novice towards end of ’07, but results since haven’t been as impressive, though has run in a couple of ‘hot’ handicaps since his return in January.
Cool Roxy – saves all his best form for Fakenham where he is virtually unbeatable on gd/sf in class 3 or lower.
This looks as if it could be fought out between Out The Black and Church Island, with preference for the former.

Hernando Royal had previously finished 9.75l 4/19 in a 52 HH
Will appreciate the better ground and not disgraced lto, as he was giving 17lbs or more to the rest of the field at Huntingdon. Prior to that had also not been disgraced in finishing 3/7 to the in-form Lough Derg over C&D here. Not without a chance, though it’s been a while since the trainer saddled a winner.

held up in rear, steady headway on outer when hit 4 out, led next, ridden along 2 out, driven last, carried head high but stayed on well under pressure flat
Terenzium had previously finished 2l 2/13 in a 28 NH
Had a profitable ’08, winning 4 of his 6 starts within the calendar year. Has gone well fresh, but needed two runs in the autumn before getting back on the winning track.
Others:
Tamarinbleu – besides not having run over hurdles for years, the negatives in his profile include races in the spring and races going LH. Has the class, but has he the heart?
Numide – had looked the part before Christmas, but ran too bad to be true in Imperial Cup when coming back from a break. Question about the distance too.
I’ve a feeling we won’t see 8 runners, which is a pity for what looks a decent race. I would expect the winner to come from my trio with Font probably having they best chance, though Warsaw Pact could cause an upset if recovering his earlier form on his return from a break.
That’s it then, so now on to make a start on tomorrow’s big fields.
