Telescope sights set on Sandown
Telescope is due to kick off his four-year-old campaign in the bet365 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown on April 25.
The Galileo colt was considered a major contender for the Investec Derby this time last year, but missed the Epsom Classic after a number of early-season problems.
Sir Michael Stoute's charge looked the part when he returned in a three-runner conditions race at Leicester and although he suffered defeat in the Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock, he signed off with a fine victory in the Great Voltigeur at York.
Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, said: "He is in great form and has done very well from three to four.
"He certainly looks the part and he is a much fuller, more mature horse than he was as a three-year-old.
"The plan is for him to start off in the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown and we look forward to that."

Ryan Moore is now odds-on favourite for the jockeys' title after Richard Hughes was ruled out with injury for a few weeks. But while the Betfair ambassador would be thrilled with a fourth title, he believes that you have to focus on the short term in racing and concentrate on doing your job day-in and day-out.
Everyone knows that I don't like talking about championships and titles, mainly because I think it is a contrived discussion and pretty much something that the media drives, rather than the jockeys and trainers involved. But this year's title seems to be on the agenda again after I was lucky enough to ride a four-timer at Windsor yesterday, and the fact that Hughesie has announced that he is unfortunately sidelined until April 25 at the earliest, so here I am. I do understand that journalists have stories to write and it is newsworthy to a certain extent, but we haven't even got to the Craven Meeting, so let's get some perspective here. Nothing changes on this subject, year-in and year-out. Every jockey's aim is to ride to the best of their abilities for their trainers and owners, on a daily basis. It may be a cliché but you simply go out and do your job every day, just as every person going to work does. And if we are lucky enough to remain fit and injury-free, and enjoy our share of luck, then the winners will come. I know certain jockeys and their agents have purposely set out to win the title down the years - the likes of Muis Roberts and Graham Rock - but to me, and I am sure Hughesie and the others, then winners are simply a bi-product of us working hard and doing our jobs properly. You only have to look at the long list of injuries suffered by jockeys at the Cheltenham Festival - and Hughesie's fall in Dubai, and mine in the past few years - to remind yourself that it can tempt fate to look long-term and too far ahead in this game. It is a dangerous business. You focus on today. Having been lucky enough to win the title three times, it is not something that I would ever disrespect, and if it came along again as a natural consequence of me doing my job then great - it is not as if I haven't put in the hours and miles these past few years. But if you ask most, if not all, jockeys what they live for, it is the big days and the life experiences. Would a Gold Cup or Grand National-winning jockey give up that feeling for a jockeys' title? I don't know. What I do know are that the special days, such as dad and Jamie winning the Champion Chase with Sire De Grugy, are what you strive for and remember. And it is not always about the winning. For example, going over to ride in the Kentucky Derby last year, taking in the whole build-up and occasion, was one of my best riding experiences. So, to be honest, it doesn't matter to me one bit whether I am now the odds-on favourite to win the jockeys' title. I will continue to do my job, and that takes me to Dubai, Ireland, America, Hong Kong, Canada and Japan, where quite clearly success will have no bearing on the jockeys' title. So if it happens, it happens, and I will worry about that - and celebrate it - at the time. Just don't ask me about it again before that please, as I am not talking about it after this!

Missunited is the star turn at Limerick on Thursday when the Mick Winters-trained mare makes her reappearance in the Summer Twilight Nights Race in a season that could see her take in the Ascot Gold Cup. Missunited: Returns to the track on Thursday The seven-year-old faces just two rivals in the shape of last year's winner El Salvador and recent Gowran Park maiden winner Cosmic Cannonball. The daughter of Golan, home-bred by Dan and Vanessa Hutch, proved a real money-spinner last year winning the Guinness Galway Hurdle and returning to Galway the following month to land the Listed Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes on the Flat. Seamie Heffernan will again be on board, and Winters reports her in great form. He said: "Seamie rode her after racing at Clonmel last week and he was happy with her. "He said she got a bit tired up the straight, but she's in good order. "We never thought we'd be going back to a mile and a half with her, and it will probably be a game of tactics with just three runners. Two miles and two and a half miles is her trip, really. "The owners had her at home and have had her riding out for a while. She's come back looking a million dollars. "She's always improved from her runs and I'm sure she will again. She looks fantastic in her coat and her attitude is very sweet, which is important. "I wouldn't mind heavy ground as long as it was loose, so some rain would be a help. She wouldn't really like tacky, holding ground." Looking ahead, Winters said: "The Martin Molony Stakes (Listed) could be next on the agenda after this (at Limerick on April 26), and if she stays in form she could go for the Gold Cup at Ascot. "Then you would have a month or six weeks before the Galway Hurdle. She is still nicely rated on 144 over hurdles compared to the really top mares like Annie Power and Quevega who are about 20lb higher. The prize-money is huge at Galway. "There are plenty of good staying races for her to aim at later in the year, all the Cup races, but we'll space them out a bit more. "As a young mare she was winning races easily and ran two or three times in the space of a few weeks, but she will be operating at a higher level now."

Trainer Sabrina Harty is waiting for drier ground before unleashing highly-rated miler Ansgar in what she hopes will be another profitable campaign. Ansgar scoring at the Curragh last season The six-year-old twice finished runner-up in Group Threes last season, but connections must bide their time, with a trip to England for his seasonal bow not yet ruled out. County Kildare-based Harty said: "We were hoping to go for the Gladness Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday but we kind of thought it was going to be too soft so we didn't end up entering there. "We have him entered in Leopardstown (Amethyst Stakes, May 11) over a mile but we'd like to drop him back to seven. "I think he'd be really interesting over that trip. He went to seven furlong in Newmarket (Challenge Stakes last October) but the ground changed to soft. "An alternative start off for him would be at Haydock on Swinton Hurdle day - it's a seven-furlong Listed race. We might be going there with Kalann anyway and they could both go there if the ground came up good. "He's in great form. He wintered really well and looks fantastic. I'm really happy with him. "He stays really well and he's speedy - he's able to get a lot of horses off the bridle early. When he goes up in class going back in trip seems to help. "He's given us some great days already and you wouldn't be afraid to travel with him as he takes it well enough."

Telescope is due to kick off his four-year-old campaign in the bet365 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown on April 25. Telescope: Set to run at Sandown The Galileo colt was considered a major contender for the Investec Derby this time last year, but missed the Epsom Classic after a number of early-season problems.

Lingfield Park, 9 April 2014
2.30, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference in the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, OLIVERS MOUNT, ridden by Oisin Murphy, had interfered with ZAMMY, placed second, ridden by Jim Crowley and that the interference had not improved OLIVERS MOUNT’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered. The Stewards found Murphy in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift right. They suspended him for 3 days as follows: Wednesday 23, Thursday 24 and Friday 25 April 2014.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference in the closing stages. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that K LIGHTNING (IRE), unplaced, ridden by George Buckell, had interfered with FLEETWOODSANDS (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Declan Bates. The Stewards found Buckell in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Wednesday 23 April 2014.
4.30, sixth race
The Stewards noted that MAMBO RHYTHM, unplaced, had interfered with TRAFALGAR ROCK, unplaced, on the first bend but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
5.00, seventh race
The Stewards held an enquiry into two possible incidents of interference.
In the first incident inside the final furlong, having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found that SERENITY SPA, placed second, ridden by Oisin Murphy had interfered with SKIDBY MILL (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Liam Jones who then interfered with PRINCESS SPIRIT, unplaced, ridden by Sam Hitchcott. They found the interference was accidental.
In the second incident in the final strides, having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that SERENITY SPA again interfered with SKIDBY MILL (IRE). The Stewards found Murphy in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Saturday 26 April 2014.

Catterick Bridge, 9 April 2014
2.20, first race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the circumstances in which SIRPERTAN was pulled up, due to the hood becoming dislodged after the first two furlongs. They interviewed Joe Doyle, the rider, and Mark Walford, the trainer. Having heard their evidence, viewed recordings of the race, examined the headgear and bridle and found them to be in a serviceable condition, the Stewards accepted their explanation that the headgear had become dislodged as a result of the gelding running keen.
2.50, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, ORIENT CLASS, ridden by Graham Lee and trained by Paul Midgley, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer who stated that the gelding had benefited from the application of a first time visor and strengthening up over the winter. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of ORIENT CLASS could be reviewed.
4.20, fifth race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, PICENO (IRE), ridden by Matthew Hopkins and trained by Scott Dixon, compared with its previous run at Southwell on 26 March 2014 where the gelding finished seventh, beaten 24 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that PICENO (IRE) benefited from breaking well from the stalls and having an uncontested lead.
5.20, seventh race
The Starter reported that FLASH CITY (ITY), trained by Ruth Carr, was unruly in the stalls and withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that SPRING BIRD, unplaced, ridden by Gary Mahon, had interfered with CHOSEN ONE (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Gemma Tutty. The Stewards found Mahon in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left without taking sufficient steps to prevent interference. They cautioned him as to his future conduct in races.
09/04/2014
Kempton Park, 9 April 2014
6.00, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference shortly after the start. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found that INVASOR LUCK (USA), placed third, ridden by Frederik Tylicki, had interfered with BIG ORANGE, placed second, ridden by Sean Levey. The Stewards found Tylicki in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding, in that he had allowed his horse to drift right. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 April 2014.
8.00, sixth race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, PRIM AND PROPER, ridden by Richard Kingscote and trained by Brendan Powell, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer’s representative, who stated that the filly was suited by the step-up in trip. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of PRIM AND PROPER could be reviewed.

ARC keen on expanding Championships Organisers of the All-Weather Championships are keen on opening up the valuable Good Friday meeting to overseas runners. The Arena Racing Company is looking forward to hosting the first running in just over a week's time at Lingfield but the fields are made up of entirely British-trained horses which have qualified for races during the winter. Jim Allen, ARC's racing director, said: "In terms of taking the championships forward, ARC, the Jockey Club and our sponsors will have a big debrief at the end of this year's championships looking ahead to next year - I am sure there will be some changes." He went on: "We will also be having discussions with Meydan, the Breeders' Cup and the Irish and French racing authorities to see how we can tie and develop the All-Weather Championships going forward. "We will see if overseas horses can qualify. We have had overseas interest this year - we have had several runners from abroad but I don't think any will be running on Finals Day as they haven't quite been good enough to make the field, which is a good thing in a way. "The All-Weather Championships is certainly something that we want to see develop into a big European, internationally-interested event." ============================================= Big two set for Lingfield showdown Round three of Robin Hoods Bay against Grandeur remains on the cards next week in the Coral Easter Classic All-Weather Middle Distance Championships Conditions Stakes. Ed Vaughan's Robin Hoods Bay has met the highly-rated Jeremy Noseda grey twice at Lingfield already this season, with Grandeur comfortably taking the spoils in February's Winter Derby Trial. A month later in the Winter Derby itself, hot favourite Grandeur was a disappointing eighth as Vaughan and his enthusiastic owner Alan Pickering claimed their most notable success. "I'm very pleased with him," said Vaughan. "He's been cantering and he'll do a good bit on Saturday, but he's a fit horse and he doesn't need a whole lot of work." At a press conference at Lingfield ahead of the All-Weather Championships Finals on Good Friday, the Arena Racing Company PR and communications director Kate Hills had news from the Noseda camp. "Jeremy said Grandeur is in great order. He said that Good Friday is the plan and Ryan Moore will ride," Hills said. "He also said he is hoping Ryan will ride Valbchek in the Sprint." Also firmly on course for the bookmakers.co.uk All-Weather Sprint Championships Conditions Stakes is the William Muir-trained Stepper Point, who gave Martin Dwyer a comeback winner from injury when taking the Hever Sprint on Winter Derby Day. Muir said: "I was quite surprised he won. We thought at the end of last year we'd take him to Dubai but the owner said he wanted to keep him with me for the rest of his life and we gelded him. He didn't take gelding very well and he'd only had one breeze before that race. I didn't think he'd do what he did." Complicit is on course for the 32Red All-Weather Three-Year-Old Championship. Paul Cole's charge guaranteed his place in the seven-furlong contest with victory over Sir Robert Cheval in a Fast-Track Qualifier over the same course and distance in November, shaving over a second off the two-year-old course record in the process. The son of Captain Rio followed up in a foray to France, where he got the better of the highly-regarded Zavarov in a mile conditions event on the Fibresand at Deauville. Oliver Cole, assistant to his father Paul, said: "He has a tremendous amount of talent and Jean Claude-Rouget thinks the horse he beat at Deauville is a good horse. We haven't got to the bottom of Complicit as he only does what he has to do, whether that be on the racecourse or in his work at home. "He was quite a difficult horse last year because he had a phobia of the stalls. We had James Doyle on him at Newbury, but he reared up behind the stalls and James didn't want to get back on him. Graham Lee has worked the oracle with him and we probably haven't seen Complicit at his best on the track yet, which makes him quite an exciting horse. "The drop back to seven furlongs would be a slight question mark because the dam (Molomo) won over a mile and a half, but she has produced three seven-furlong winners. Complicit's half-sister Rainfall won the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot over seven and Complicit himself was pretty good when he won over seven at Lingfield. "We expect some good things from him this year. Whether he needs a longer trip, time will tell, but we will start him off at Lingfield and he deserves to be in the race." ============================================= Glorious result for Walker Warren Place in Newmarket is a far different place without the late Sir Henry Cecil around but the historic stable produced three winners for two different trainers on a fine spring afternoon at Lingfield. Glorious Empire (5-4 favourite) looks to be following the same upward trajectory as Ed Walker, who is now a Warren Place tenant, as he extended his unbeaten record to two. Then Lady Cecil herself sent out a double, with Morning Watch (6-1) staying past 6-4 favourite Belrog in the 32Red On The App Store Maiden Stakes and Grasped eventually justifying her position as 1-3 favourite for the 32Red Immortal Romance Slot Fillies' Handicap. The 32Red Tomb Raider Slot Handicap was as low-key as Glorious Empire's opening assignment at Kempton last November, but the already-gelded son of Holy Roman Emperor seems to have Walker quietly excited. Glorious Empire was always to the head of affairs but what was most impressive was the way he found extra in the home straight and drew a length and three-quarters away from Outback Traveller. "I was a bit disappointed he played up in the stalls and was a bit keen in the first couple of furlongs but he's a very scopey horse with lots of speed," said Walker. "We'll just see what the handicapper does but this was a nice start. I'd like to try him on a galloping track. He's Hong Kong-owned and the stallion is very popular out there so we'll see what happens, but the owners are also happy to keep them here." James Doyle was in the hotseat for both Lady Cecil's runners and he had to work pretty hard on the unbeaten Grasped in the Khalid Abdullah silks. Assistant trainer George Scott said: "She's still got a lot to learn and I'd say that's the last time you'll see her over a mile. Jane will have a chat to the Abdullah team and work out a plan." Morning Watch, who caught the eye on his debut at Kempton, looks a longer-distance project. Scott said: "I'm sure he'll come on for the run but it was encouraging to see him stay a mile and a half. We'll see what the handicapper does but he takes his training well so hopefully he'll take his racing well and give De La Warr Racing some fun." Ryan Tate sat tight following a hectic pace for the 32Red Free 10 Bonus Handicap as he delivered Nimble Kimble (16-1) through for in-form Newmarket trainer James Eustace. "She had deserved to win a maiden before now and she had been working nicely. There's a seven-furlong fillies' handicap back here at the end of the month and we might look at that before trying her over a mile," Eustace said. Indian Violet (8-1) got a good ride from Jim Crowley in division one of the Ladbrokes Handicap for local trainer Zoe Davidson, who said: "He's tricky and what he needs is a good pace. Everything worked out for him today." The winning margin was also a neck in division two, in favour of 6-4 favourite Olivers Mount for Ed Vaughan and Oisin Murphy, who was given a three-day careless riding ban (April 23-25). Murphy went on to complete a double with victory on Tilstarr (4-1) for trainer Roger Teal in the 32Red.com Fillies' Handicap and deny Doyle, on runner-up Havelovewilltravel, a treble. Drawnfromthepast (14-1) will join Walker from Luke Dace after winning the Compare Bookmakers At bookmakers.co.uk Classified Claiming Stakes. ===================================================== Missunited set for big year ahead Missunited is the star turn at Limerick on Thursday when the Mick Winters-trained mare makes her reappearance in the Summer Twilight Nights Race in a season that could see her take in the Ascot Gold Cup. The seven-year-old faces just two rivals in the shape of last year's winner El Salvador and recent Gowran Park maiden scorer Cosmic Cannonball. He said she got a bit tired up the straight, but she's in good order. "We never thought we'd be going back to a mile and a half with her, and it will probably be a game of tactics with just three runners. Two miles and two and a half miles is her trip, really. "The owners had her at home and have had her riding out for a while. She's come back looking a million dollars. She's always improved from her runs and I'm sure she will again. As a young mare she was winning races easily and ran two or three times in the space of a few weeks, but she will be operating at a higher level now." ======================================= Balder chasing Punchestown riches Balder Succes will take on the best two-milers around at Punchestown after his convincing victory in the Maghull Novices' Chase at Aintree on Saturday. Trainer Alan King is considering the Boylesports.com Champion Chase on April 29 to see if the talented six-year-old is again up to competing at the highest level. "Balder Succes delivered impressively in the Grade One novice chase on the Saturday, and I see the handicapper has put him up 9lb to 162, so we are climbing towards the top of the two-mile tree," the Barbury Castle handler told www.alankingracing.co.uk. "It paid off not going to Cheltenham and he is still relatively fresh, so he may well go to Punchestown for their big two-miler. "We know he stays a little bit further, but at the moment I would be inclined to stick to two miles. "He has to improve a bit but we will see how far down the Champion Chase route he can go. "Another summer on his back may just help." ========================================= Sandiva to swerve Newbury heat Sandiva will bypass the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury on Saturday and instead head for the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket next Wednesday as she prepares for the Qipco 1000 Guineas. The Footstepsinthesand filly finished runner-up in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last season and was not disgraced in the Group One Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp on her final start as a juvenile. Richard Fahey, who won the Nell Gwyn with Barefoot Lady in 2011, is pleased with how Sandiva has wintered. He said: "Sheikh Joaan Al Thani (owner) has Marco Botti's horse (Al Thakhira) in the race and does not want to run Sandiva against her. "I'll look at the Nell Gwyn for her now but I would not want to run her on too soft a surface so we will see." Dutch Courage, who won twice as a juvenile, will instead represent the Malton-based handler in the Group Three over seven furlongs in Berkshire. Fahey also plans to split his colts Parbold and Supplicant, with the former a confirmed absentee from the Aon Greenham Stakes on the same card. He said: "Supplicant won the Mill Reef at Newbury last season and should handle the testing ground better than Parbold. "It looks a pretty warm renewal of the Greenham but we have to run somewhere. "Parbold will go to Newmarket with Sandiva and run in the Craven." =========================================== Pearl back in business Pearl Secret totally outclassed the opposition when making an impressive comeback from injury in the totepool Lola Faulkner Conditions Stakes at Nottingham. David Barron's sprinter had just the one run last season, when third in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, and again showed he can take high rank in the sprint division when winning in a hack canter. Jamie Spencer tried to hold him up at the rear of the five-strong field in the early stages but the 3-10 shot was going so well that the jockey switched him to the centre of the course to get a clear run. Pearl Secret was soon in control and bounded away to win by two and three-quarter lengths from Graphic Guest. "The main thing was to try to get him back on a racecourse. Last year, when he fractured a splint bone, we were in trouble and didn't know whether we would get him back or not," Barron told Racing UK. "We've just managed to get him back on the course. It was a case of having to be patient with him. He's very enthusiastic - at home you have to keep a lid on him. "He does love a bit of cut in the ground. I'm quite sure he will go on quicker ground, it's just that we know for definite he goes on slower ground. We will always be a little wary of faster ground for him, anyway. "Jamie said when he came in this horse was quicker than he was and he's always been very quick. "Today they weren't going quick enough for him early on, and he was doing a bit too much, but in the league he's going to be running in they will be going quick enough for him. "All the big sprints will be on the cards for him, hopefully, if we can keep him in one piece. The signs are good and we'd like to have a tilt at one or two of them." =================================================== Flying start for Gosden and Buick Flying Officer capped a 153-1 treble for trainer John Gosden and jockey William Buick with a gritty triumph in the totepool EBF Stallions Barry Hills Further Flight Stakes at Nottingham. The full-brother to 2007 St Leger winner Lucarno was having only the fourth run of his career, but overcame his relative inexperience to take Listed honours over an extended mile and three-quarters. Earth Amber, second 12 months ago, made the 11-4 joint-favourite work hard to score by half a length, with long-time leader High Jinx (also 11-4) rallying to claim third. "I'm delighted with him. He's been off since June last year. He got hurt when he won that race (at Windsor), it's taken a long time to get him back, but he's done absolutely nothing wrong today," Gosden said. "There was no pace, but William was conscious about it and was in a position to do something about it. His brother won the St Leger so we know he stays well. Let's hope we can step him up to two miles now. I think the Henry II (at Sandown) well into May would be a nice gap for him." Gosden and Buick's other wins came in the two divisions of the totejackpot Go For The Big One Maiden Stakes, with Sacred Act and Gm Hopkins respectively. Sacred Act (10-1) made a strong impression with a winning start to his career in division one as he swept to a cosy length and three-quarters success, being visually very impressive. "He was too immature last year to be racing, then I didn't want to run him on the all-weather so I waited. He really enjoyed it and did it well," Gosden told Racing UK. With the benefit of two starts last term, Gm Hopkins (11-4) opened his account with a two-length verdict over Lacan in division two. "He showed a lot of talent first time out at Newbury then he hurt himself at Newmarket. It's been a long road back and it's lovely to see him win in good style. I think a mile is his trip," said the Newmarket trainer. Signore Piccolo (6-1) displayed plenty of dash at a lower level as he treated his rivals with disdain to lift the toteplacepot Racing's Favourite Bet Handicap. Always prominent over the straight five furlongs, Eric Alston's three-year-old sped away in the final furlong to win eased up by two and a quarter lengths under 3lb claimer Jason Hart. "He's a nice horse and has improved over the winter and grown stronger," said Alston. "He's always had plenty of speed and I was never going to run him over six furlongs this year. I only ran him over six last year because the maiden races were there. He might go to Chester. It depends how much the handicapper puts him up." ================================================= Tidal confirmed for Ayr mission Paul Nicholls has confirmed Tidal Bay as an intended runner in Saturday's Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr. The 13-year-old unseated his rider early in the Grand National at Aintree last week and is set to make a swift return after pleasing his handler in a schooling session this morning. Nicholls tweeted: "Tidal Bay just schooled well and runs Saturday at Ayr." =========================================== Mick Winters has his fingers crossed for good weather ahead of Rebel Fitz's challenge for the Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse on April 20. The County Cork handler reports the nine-year-old to be in tip-top chase following his latest success at Cork last month, when he accounted for Tarla by 10 lengths. "A dry week would suit us very well, and the ground should be beautiful according to the forecast. Everything is right for him to go up and be at his peak," said Winters. "He's come out of the race in Mallow (Cork) very well. "On the day the ground was heavy but he had the best of it on the inside as it was only the second race. By the fourth race he might not have been able to handle it at all. "In fairness to Tarla she made it a hot pace and at the second-last I thought it was going to be a fierce battle between them. But she stopped very quickly for whatever reason. "We were delighted with his run and Barry (Geraghty) was very pleased with him. I'd say he fancies his chances at Fairyhouse, and he said he will stay with the horse for the rest of the year. "He's getting on so well with the horse and getting a great tune out of him."

16:30 Thursday 10th April Racing Tips - 10/04/2014
I must have missed something because Cayman Islands shouldn't be favourite today, nor Divine Intavention. Highway Code looks a much more solid option off what should prove a handy mark. He goes on any ground but good ground over 2 miles here last time was always going to prove too sharp a test. He wants 2 and a half miles and, given his defeat of Massena before being outclassed at Cheltenham, 128 looks lenient. The yard are going well and 5/1 is worth taking. Great Value is exactly that at 11/1 but he may find one too good and if Tara Rose wins it will hurt but she is not to be trusted at present. Ludlow 16.00 - Highway Code 1pt win
The following hurdle sees another John Ferguson runner, Chat Room, at the head of the market and this time justifiably so. He is progressive over hurdles and a 5lb rise looks reasonable in what is a weakish contest for its class. Tiger O'Toole is tempting but reason has to get in the way given what he has shown of late. There is one unexposed sort who could serve it up to the favourite on what is his handicap debut. Ever Fortune doesn't exactly looked chucked in off 105 but I like a debutant in this sphere in races lacking depth like this and he looks big at 12/1. Definitely better than the bare result last time when unlucky in running, that run gives him a chance off his mark and his debut was encouraging in a race where few have made handicap bows so his mark is a little tricky to analyse. I see that as a positive for this 5 year old whose best effort came last time out and he'll like the ground this afternoon over a sharp 2 miles which should suit. Ludlow 16.30 - Ever Fortune 1pt e/w

Al Thakhira faces a strong-looking field as 13 fillies bid to cement their Classic claims in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury on Saturday. Al Thakira wins the Rockfel last season Marco Botti's charge had looked a serious contender for the QIPCO 1000 Guineas when winning the Rockfel Stakes in October, but she ended the campaign on a low when tailed off last on rattling fast ground in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf at Santa Anita three weeks later. Now she has a chance to redeem her reputation on suitable conditions in the Group Three for fillies over seven furlongs, registered as the Fred Darling Stakes. A quality field includes Frankel's half-sister Joyeuse, a Listed winner for Lady Cecil and sixth in the Cheveley Park Stakes. She too holds a 1000 Guineas entry. This race looks to have plenty of strength in depth with Charles Hills saddling two promising types in Coral Mist and Dutch Romance. Rae Guest has had plenty of talented fillies in his care over the years and looks to Cape Factor, winner of the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes to do herself justice. The rest of the field comprises Alys Love, Beldale Memory, Dutch Courage, J Wonder, Lady Lara, Manderlay, Stealth Missile and Valonia.

Mick Channon is hoping Sgt Reckless could register a deserved success at the top level should he line-up for the Herald Champion Novice Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival on April 29. Sgt Reckless: Could head to Punchestown The West Ilsley trainer will consider sending the seven-year-old across the Irish Sea if the ground is not too soft. Sgt Reckless has acquitted himself well in two high-profile events this spring, finishing fourth behind Vautour in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham and then running second to Josses Hill in the Top Novices' Hurdle at Aintree last week. "I was very pleased with Sgt Reckless' run at Aintree. He has come out of the race in great form and we have given him an entry at Punchestown. I would be hopeful of another good run if he went there," said Channon. "The rain at Aintree may have gone against him a little bit, but it was jumping ground and you are going to get that most of the time. I wouldn't want it too soft for him as he is a top of the ground horse. "He has got lots of speed and comes with one run, so he wants to get there as late as he can in his races. He's a very good horse." There are two other British-trained contenders in a 20-strong entry - David Pipe's The Liquidator and Clever Cookie from Peter Niven's stable. Willie Mullins is responsible for eight of the home contingent, headed by Vautour and Faugheen, who both have alternative engagements at the Festival.

Clive Brittain has reaffirmed his belief Rizeena could be one of the best horses he has trained ahead of the QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 4. Rizeena: Brittain thinks she's got talent Brittain has had plenty of top-class performers pass through his hands during a superb training career, particularly fillies, with Pebbles (1984) and Sayyedati (1993) his two previous winners of the fillies' Classic. Rizeena won four times from eight starts as a juvenile, including victories in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, and she was last seen chasing home the ill-fated Chriselliam in the Fillies' Mile. With Ryan Moore expected to ride the talented filly on the Rowley Mile next month, confidence is high in the Brittain camp. He said: "I couldn't have her in better condition - her coat, her skin and eyes - and she's ready to do the business on May 4. "I decided not to have a prep run because of the manner she worked and Ryan's comments. "I'm hoping Ryan Moore rides and he's hoping to. She's done very well over the winter and she's fit enough to run now if I wanted her to. "I am very excited and when one comes along which makes your heart miss a beat, it's great. She's got a great temperament and she's ready to go. She can have a two-week hold-up now and will still be fit. "She's got a great turn of foot and a very good stride pattern and everything you could want from a racehorse. "All the signs are that she's one of the best I've had but she's got to go and do it on a race day." Rizeena also remains among the entries for the 2000 Guineas and while the fillies' equivalent remains her objective at this stage, Brittain stopped short of ruling out a run against the colts. "The decision is made about the 1000 Guineas but she's also entered in the 2000, but something would have to make me change my mind," said the Newmarket trainer. "I couldn't see anything among the colts that is outstanding and if the colts are weak, I could run her on May 3 and it wouldn't bother me one bit." Brittain has already began to map out Rizeena's campaign beyond Newmarket. He said: "The plan is the English Guineas, the Irish Guineas, the Coronation Stakes and possibly the Nassau. "She's also got the option for the Oaks and 'option' is the key word

Ludlow, 10 April 2014
3.00, second race
The Stewards noted that Michael Byrne, the rider of the winner, LAMOOL (GR), had struck SPEED MASTER (IRE), placed second, on the nose with his whip, on the run in. Having viewed a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither improved LAMOOL (GR)’s placing or involved a riding offence.
5.30, seventh race
The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference on the run in. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, HOLD COURT (IRE), ridden by Paul Moloney, had interfered with SPEEDY TUNES (IRE), placed second, ridden by Andrew Tinkler. They found the interference was accidental and had not improved HOLD COURT (IRE)’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered
10/04/2014
Taunton, 10 April 2014
2.20, first race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, MILANS WELL (IRE), ridden by Paul O’Brien, and trained by Brendan Powell, compared with its previous run at Ffos Las over fences on 16 March 2014, where the gelding was pulled up. They noted the trainer’s explanation that MILANS WELL (IRE) was suited by the Taunton track and the faster ground. They ordered the gelding to be routine tested.
10/04/2014
Towcester, 10 April 2014
3.10, third race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, DOYENNE DREAM, ridden by Miss B. Andrews and trained by Caroline Fryer, compared with its previous run at Southwell on 17 March 2014 over 2 miles 5 furlongs where the mare was pulled up. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the mare is temperamental and benefitted from wearing a first time visor. They ordered DOYENNE DREAM to be routine tested.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of MONEY MAID (IRE), ridden by Hadden Frost and trained by Simon Earle, which was dropped in in the early stages of the race before staying on strongly from the second last to finish fourth beaten 12¼ lengths. They interviewed the rider and the trainer. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer, and observations from the Handicapper. The rider stated that his instructions were to take his time, get her settled and do his best. He added that she is not the most fluent of jumpers and he got forced wide when he was impeded by fallers three out. He further added that MONEY MAID (IRE) would probably want a longer trip. The trainer added that the mare was quite fragile and had run too free in earlier races. He further added that today’s two mile trip was probably inadequate for the mare. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted their explanations.
10/04/2014
Kempton Park, 10 April 2014
5.40, first race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found that the winner, DESERT COLOURS, ridden by Kevin Stott, had interfered with STARLIT CANTATA, placed fourth, ridden by John Fahy. The Stewards found Stott in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding, in that he had allowed his horse to drift right. They suspended him for 4 days as follows: Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 April 2014 inclusive.
6.40, third race
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, AEOLIAN BLUE, ridden by Shane Kelly and trained by William Knight, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer, who stated that the filly was better suited by the shorter trip and has improved with experience. Having heard his evidence, they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of AEOLIAN BLUE could be reviewed. The Stewards ordered the filly to be routine tested.
8.10, sixth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible two possible instances of interference. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that In the first incident, about six furlongs out, TEEN AGER (FR), placed third, ridden by Jimmy Quinn, had interfered with WELSH INLET (IRE), unplaced, ridden by William Carson, which in turn interfered with PERFECT PASTIME, unplaced, ridden by Stephen Craine. The Stewards found the interference was accidental.
In the second incident, about 1½ furlongs out, the Stewards found that TEEN AGER (FR) had interfered with WELSH INLET. The Stewards found Quinn in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding, in that he had allowed his horse to drift right. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Thursday 24 April 2014.

Ludlow, 10 April 2014
3.30, third race

5.30, seventh race
Nigel Twiston-Davies, the trainer of MINI MUCK, placed fourth, reported that the mare bled from the nose.
Ian Williams, the trainer of GHOST OF A SMILE (IRE), unplaced, reported that the gelding was unsuited by the track.

Llewellyn hit with heavy fine
Carl Llewellyn has been fined £1,500 by the British Horseracing Authority for "conduct prejudicial to horse racing".
The former rider, who is now assistant trainer to Nigel Twiston-Davies, is alleged to have made a racial comment at a Cheltenham Festival preview evening at the Hollow Bottom pub, Gloucestershire.
Llewellyn faced a penalty ranging from a £1,000 fine to a three-year ban.
He admitted to a breach of the rules at a BHA hearing on Thursday morning.
A BHA statement read: "The (disciplinary) panel noted that Mr Llewellyn had been a speaker at a ticket-only racing preview forum held on March 10, 2014 at the Hollow Bottom Public House in the presence of supporters of horse racing and media representatives.
"Comments made by Mr Llewellyn during the first half of the forum had brought horse racing into disrepute in that they had been made in a context which could have had racial connotations and caused offence.
"During a break in the forum, Mr Llewellyn apologised to an individual who was present, explaining that it had been an attempt at humour and that he had not intended to cause offence.
"Prior to the restart of the forum the landlord had also apologised to everyone present on behalf of the public house and Mr Llewellyn.
"The panel further noted that Mr Llewellyn's conduct had led to adverse publicity for the sport, including attracting comment from the Minister for Sport, Tourism and Equalities (Helen Grant).
"The panel accepted an admission from Mr Llewellyn that he was in breach of Rule (A) 30 and his undertaking to make a public apology.
"Taking into account the high profile Mr Llewellyn continues to hold within the sport following his successful career as a jockey, and his current positions as assistant trainer to Nigel Twiston-Davies and a BHA jockey coach, the panel imposed a fine of £1,500 upon him."
=================================================== McLernon suffers Ludlow fall
Jockey Richie McLernon was taken to hospital for precautionary X-rays after he took a heavy fall at Ludlow on Thursday.
McLernon parted company from Great Value after the third fence of a two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase.
Ludlow clerk of the course Bob Davies said: "He's had a bit of physio and he seems all right, but he's gone to hospital as a precaution."
=========================================== Unlucky break for Messenger
Jockey Tom Messenger faces a spell on the sidelines after he suffered a broken collarbone at Towcester on Thursday.
Messenger sustained the injury when he was brought down from Teeton Blackvelvet in a maiden hurdle over two miles.
The rider tweeted: "Gutted to have broken my collarbone for the second time this season!
"On the bright side at least I can watch @the_Masters this week!"
=============================================== Bobs in Punchestown frame
Bobs Worth is under consideration for the Bibby Financial Services Punchestown Gold Cup on April 30.
The 2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner could only finish fifth when defending his Prestbury Park crown and unbeaten record at the track last month, but is reported to be none the worse since and could be prepared for the Grade One feature.
Trainer Nicky Henderson could also saddle last year's Punchestown Gold Cup runner-up Long Run, who fell in last weekend's Grand National at Aintree.
Henderson said: "We have given Bobs Worth an entry and we will see nearer the race whether we go to Punchestown.
"We have actually done very little with him since his run at Cheltenham and we've got a bit of time to decide whether we bring him over.
"I always enjoy Punchestown and had a fantastic time there last year with Sprinter Sacre."
Champion trainer Willie Mullins is set to be represented in the 200,000 euro contest by both Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up On His Own and last week's Melling Chase-winning stable companion Boston Bob.
The Tom Taaffe-trained Argocat and First Lieutenant from Mouse Morris' stable are other possible starters having finished third and fourth respectively in the Betfred Bowl at Aintree.
Also among the 18 entries are the Kim Bailey-trained Harry Topper, winner of the Argento Chase at Cheltenham in January, the Paul Nicholls-trained Bury Parade and Medermit from Alan King's stable.
=========================================== Tidal confirmed for Ayr mission Paul Nicholls has confirmed Tidal Bay as an intended runner in Saturday's Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr. ======================================== Rizeena 'ready to do the business' Clive Brittain has reaffirmed his belief Rizeena could be one of the best horses he has trained ahead of the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 4 ========================================= Thakhira leads Newbury contenders
Al Thakhira faces 12 rivals as she bids to book her Classic place with a big run in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
Marco Botti's charge had looked a serious contender for the Qipco 1000 Guineas when winning the Rockfel Stakes in October, but she ended the campaign on a low when tailed off last on rattling fast ground in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf at Santa Anita three weeks later.
Rae Guest has had plenty of talented fillies in his care over the years and looks to Cape Factor, winner of the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes, to do herself justice.
The rest of the field comprises Alys Love, Beldale Memory, Dutch Courage, J Wonder, Lady Lara, Manderlay, Stealth Missile and Valonia.
========================================= Kingman tops Greenham field
John Gosden's unbeaten colt Kingman heads 10 entries in the Aon Greenham Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
The Khalid Abdullah-owned three-year-old has a tall reputation and won both his starts as a juvenile, with the second victory coming in the Group Three Solario Stakes at Sandown.
He is towards the head of the ante-post market at around 7-1 for the Qipco 2000 Guineas and will be given a stern test in this Classic trial over seven furlongs.
His rivals include Night Of Thunder, who is also out to stake his claim for Newmarket. The Richard Hannon-trained colt took both his races as a two-year-old in promising style.
Paul Cole saddles Berkshire, winner of the Chesham and Royal Lodge Stakes in his first season.
Kevin Ryan lets Middle Park hero Astaire take his chance, while other northern-trained hopefuls are the Ollie Pears-trained No Leaf Clover and Supplicant from Richard Fahey's stable.
Godolphin and trainer Saeed bin Suroor rely on York maiden winner Golden Town rather than Be Ready. Completing the line-up are Lat Hawill, Master Carpenter and Windfast.
============================================== My Tent to sport hood at Ayr
Nicky Henderson has revealed My Tent Or Yours will be fitted with a first-time hood in the QTS Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr on Saturday.
The exuberant seven-year-old was too keen for his own good in the Champion Hurdle at last month's Cheltenham Festival, but still performed admirably to go down by a neck to fellow JP McManus-owned runner Jezki.
Henderson had admitted he needed to find a way to harness My Tent Or Your's huge talent and hopes the application of headgear in Scotland will do the trick.
The Seven Barrows handler said: "I wanted to give him one more run so we could concentrate on changing a few things.
"For starters, he is going to wear a hood on Saturday.
"He'll also wear earplugs and we've played around with the bridle and what have you.
"We just think it is worth experimenting now with next season in mind."
========================================== Kingston Hill added to Derby mix
Racing Post Trophy winner Kingston Hill is among 15 second entries for the Investec Derby at Epsom on June 7.
Connections of the Roger Varian-trained colt have stumped up £8,000 to add the Doncaster Group One victor to the premier Classic, for which there are now 133 possibles.
The Richard Hannon-trained Bunker has been given the Derby option, having shown fair form as a youngster with second place in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and a success in the Listed Prix Francois Boutin over seven furlongs at Deauville.
Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Al Shaqab Racing, said: "The Investec Derby is the aim for Bunker at this stage. He has done very well physically through the winter and we were very pleased with him when he had a spin around Lingfield before racing on Saturday."
Herbert added: "His form from last year is rock-solid and anyone who saw him wandering around the paddock at Lingfield would have been pretty impressed with him physically.
"He will start off in a Derby trial, most probably the Dante (York, May 15) providing Richard Hannon is happy with him, and then we will see where we stand after that. Obviously if that went well, the Investec Derby would be the next stop but it's a big path to cross first.
"I think he is very likely to stay a mile and a half. You never really know until you try them, but he is the right type of horse in that he has a great stride on him and his sire line would very much indicate that he will stay.
"There are plenty of ticks in the right boxes and the most exciting thing is how he has progressed physically, which is key."
Hannon has also made a second entry for Night Of Thunder, who is set to reappear in the Aon Greenham Stakes at Newbury on Saturday. As expected, UAE Derby winner Toast Of New York was added to the Epsom list by trainer Jamie Osborne.
There are three French-trained second entries - Diaghan, Ectot and Norse Prize. The only Irish-trained second entry is Fascinating Rock. Dermot Weld's charge could run in the Group Three Ballysax Stakes at Navan on Saturday.
The other second entries are Postponed, Raven Ridge, Mark Johnston's duo of Hartnell and Somewhat, Scotland, declared to run at Newbury on Friday, Red Galileo and Sir Jack Layden. ============================================ Ayr update "After a drizzly start yesterday we had a dry day with sunny spells at Ayr and it is good to soft, soft in places on the chase track" - Ayr clerk of the course Emma Marley ==========================================

Information correct at Friday 11th April 2014 07:38 =================================================== 15:50 Friday 11th April Racing Tips - 11/04/2014
It may just be worth chancing Burwaaz at Newbury this afternoon, though there is a sniff of heart ruling head here. I really like this horse and he showed that plenty of pre-injury ability remains when 3rd in the Stewards Cup off 1lb higher (2lb higher mark but he's 1lb out of the handicap this afternoon). He has a Duke Of York entry so connections are happy to keep gong with this once very smart Group performer and it's a big ask for the progressive Dutch Masterpiece to give a stone to him. He has weakened on both his last couple of 6 furlong starts and is a nice price at 8/1 now back over 5. Kyleakin Lass is another I followed last season but this is still a tough ask. The drying ground is not in Ballesteros' favour but I fancy he'll give those at the head of the market something to think about. Newbury 16.15 - Burwaaz 1pt e/w
I was very keen to put Solix up this afternoon at Ayr but am a touch disappointed by his price, which should be bigger. He still has plenty to prove for all that first time blinkers and a drop in trip are likely to help. Bless The Wings has also dropped to a likeable mark but has to prove he's still capable of being a threat and 6/1 isn't all that generous. Headly's Bridge won a modest 4 runner affair last time and this is tougher but he's good value for his win on penultimate start and, perhaps more so, his close second over hurdles to Aldopicgros who hacked up last month at Newbury. 2 from 2 over fences, we probably haven't see the best of him and he'll be better suited by a lead today as opposed to having to make the running last time. 5/1 is more attractive than 7/2 about the still loftily weighted Tap Night. Ayr 15.50 - Headly's Bridge 1pt win
A really good Mares' Hurdle sees the very likeable Mickie at the top of the weights but this is some ask against some really unexposed younger sorts. Twin Plan is no more than interesting and the McCoy booking may well drive the price down too close to that of the market leaders. I want to back whichever is bigger out of Bull And Bush and Clara Mc Cloud and actually think the former should edge favouritism. Alan King has his yard in great shape and this 5 year old is open to bags on improvement. She was better than the bare form of her win last time and relished the step up to 3 miles. This is tougher but a 6lb penalty looks lenient and 7/2 a touch generous. Hopefully the ground continues to dry as she will not want it soft. Gordon Elliott's 6 year old is also a last time out winner and she will want it the softer the better. I'm not so sure she's as well treated under her penalty though and has to prove she can follow up her effort last time having run modestly on her first 2 starts for the yard. Ayr 16.55 - Bull And Bush 2pt win

Back injury for McLernon
Richie McLernon is facing a spell on the sidelines after breaking two vertebrae in a fall at Ludlow on Thursday.
The jockey was taken to hospital for further examination after he parted company from Great Value at the third fence of a two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase.
He was later confirmed to have damaged his back.
McLernon tweeted: "Thank you everybody for messages of concern. I've broken my T11 and T12 vertebrae - touch wood for a speedy recovery."

Grugy team on weather watch
Gary Moore is praying for a return to wet weather so that Sire De Grugy can defend his crown in the bet365.com Celebration Chase at Sandown on April 26.
It was in this Grade Two event last spring that the eight-year-old established himself as a top-class two-mile performer when defeating Finian's Rainbow.
He has gone on to greater heights this term, chalking up three Grade One triumphs culminating in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham last month.
Moore reports his stable star to be in tremendous nick, but he will not risk him at Sandown, his only possible engagement this season, unless he is happy with ground conditions.
"He seems in great order and couldn't be better," said the West Sussex handler.
"We're very happy with him - now we want some rain. The forecast isn't looking great, but hopefully we will get some rain. We've only got a couple of weeks now.
"It's ground permitting, he won't go otherwise. There definitely has to be some cut in the ground."
========================================= Hutchinson misses National ride
Wayne Hutchinson will miss the ride on last year's winner Godsmejudge in Saturday's Coral Scottish Grand National after suffering a knee injury in a fall on Thursday.
Hutchinson came to grief three flights from the finish aboard the Richard Woollacott-trained Lady Garvagh in the first division of Towcester's mares' maiden hurdle and will sit out the action at Ayr over the next couple of days.
Trainer Alan King has booked Aidan Coleman to replace Hutchinson aboard Godsmejudge in Saturday's feature event.
King said: "He's damaged his knee and we're not sure if it's a cartilage problem or what it is at this stage. He's going to see the specialist over the weekend and we'll know more then.
"It's obviously disappointing for Wayne - there's never a good time to get injured."
========================================= Russell shoots for National glory
Leading Scottish trainer Lucinda Russell feels she has three live chances as she aims to fulfil a lifelong ambition by training the winner of the Coral Scottish Grand National on Saturday.
The Andrew Parker-trained Merigo became the first Scottish-trained winner of the race since Cockle Strand in 1982 when striking gold in the Ayr marathon in 2010 and he went on to regain his crown two years later. Now Kinross-based Russell wants to add her name to the list.
"Whenever I've been asked which race I would like to win the most, the answer has always been the Scottish Grand National. It would mean a lot to us and it's great to be going there with three good chances," said Russell.
The talented trio is headed by Green Flag, who has enjoyed a tremendous novice campaign over fences. As well as registering three victories, the seven-year-old has filled the runner-up spot in the Feltham Novices' Chase at Kempton and was last seen when fourth behind subsequent Aintree winner Holywell in a Cheltenham Festival handicap chase.
Russell said: "Green Flag ran a fantastic race at Cheltenham. We were delighted with him and his form is rock solid. There is a bit of a question mark about the four miles, so as far as he's concerned hopefully they don't get too much rain as he would have a better chance of getting the trip on good ground than he would on soft."
Russell also saddles smart stayer Lie Forrit, who makes his first start over fences this season following two victories over hurdles. The team is completed by Nuts N Bolts, who might be an outsider with bookmakers, but his trainer believes he has solid claims.
"I've been delighted with the way Lie Forrit has been running over hurdles and he is on a decent weight over fences compared to his hurdles mark. I'm pretty sure he'll stay the four miles and he should have every chance as well," said Russell.
"I'd be very confident Nuts N Bolts will get the trip and any amount of rain wouldn't bother him. His jumping is consistent, he was never going to have many runs this year and this has been his main aim for the season. The reason he's probably the outsider (of the three) is because he hasn't got much recent form, but hopefully he'll run well."
Godsmejudge has been largely disappointing since last year's triumph, pulling up on his last two appearances. Alan King, who also saddles Midnight Appeal, is hopeful his charge can bounce back to form this weekend, with Aidan Coleman deputising for the sidelined Wayne Hutchinson in the saddle.
King said: "Both horses seem well and we're looking forward to the race. Things obviously haven't gone great this season for Godsmejudge, but he seems to be coming back to himself and the drying ground should suit him well.
"Choc (Robert Thornton) rides Midnight Appeal. He's in good form and I think the ground will be in his favour as well. This has been his plan for some time. He has been running well in big handicaps all season. It is an unknown trip-wise, but he has always given the impression he will stay."
Heading the weights for the extended four-mile contest is the Paul Nicholls-trained veteran Tidal Bay. The 13-year-old unseated Sam Twiston-Davies at the Canal Turn in last week's Grand National at Aintree after being badly hampered and is turned out quickly, with Nicholls confident his charge remains at the top of his game.
"My view is that he's 13 and we're not saving him for anything. He's been fine all week and there were two races left to run him in, this or the bet365 Gold Cup. The fact that the ground is soft on Saturday has swayed it for me, really," the trainer told At The Races.
"He schooled on Thursday morning, jumped really well and was feeling well, so we thought we'd let him take his chance. He didn't have too hard a time (at Aintree). He enjoys his life and never leaves a nut. Arguably he's well handicapped and he's capable of running a big race."
Nicholls also runs the second horse in at the weights, Sam Winner, and said: "He's got a big chance. Four miles will suit him well and it's a good race for a novice."

Nicky Henderson is keen to find out whether the application of headgear will help harness the considerable talent of My Tent Or Yours in the QTS Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr on Saturday. My Tent Or Yours (right): Ayr hopeful The seven-year-old has enjoyed a fine season so far, winning the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle and the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton en-route to his Champion Hurdle bid at last month's Cheltenham Festival. While he lost little in defeat, going down by a neck to fellow JP McManus-owned runner Jezki, My Tent Or Yours' early exuberance may have cost him victory and he is now fitted with a hood in an attempt to kerb his enthusiasm. Henderson said: "Everything has gone great since Cheltenham and I just wanted to give him one more run so we could try a few different things with him. "I know it's a handicap, but it's a limited handicap with good prize-money. "There weren't many alternatives. It was either this or Punchestown (Racing Post Champion Hurdle) and there wasn't much point in him taking on Jezki again as far as JP is concerned. "Jezki is going to Punchestown, so we'll go to Ayr and we'll see what happens. "They will be racing on fresh ground, so there shouldn't be any worries on that score." Never miss MY TENT OR YOURS run - add him to your free My Stable alerts here! My Tent Or Yours concedes upwards of a stone in weight to 10 opponents, headed by last week's Aintree winner, Court Minstrel. Evan Williams turns his charge out under a penalty just seven days after his Merseyside triumph. He said: "He's come out of Aintree exceptionally well and we're happy to let him run. "It's not just about the top horse, Alan King (Montbazon) and Gordon Elliott (Flaxen Flare) have good horses in there - it's a very competitive race. "Our horse is in great form and deserves to take his chance, so we'll see what happens." King believes Montbazon is in even better form now than when finishing a close-up third in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham last month. He told his website "He was third in the County Hurdle and the form is looking pretty good with the winner (Lac Fontana) going in again at Aintree last week. "I hope and think he has improved for that run as we did not have a clear run going into the Festival, but things have gone perfectly since. "He seems in great form and we are getting plenty of weight from My Tent Of Yours, so we have to give it a go, and the drying ground is definitely a bonus." Clever Cookie has enjoyed an excellent campaign for trainer Peter Niven, completing a hat-trick in the Premier Kelso Hurdle at the start of March. Niven said: "It will be a big ask for him, obviously, but he's in good form and we'll find out if he's any good. "We gave him an entry at Aintree last week, but we decided to wait for this. Josses Hill bolted up in the Aintree race, anyway. "I always had this race at the back of my mind, so we'll see what happens." Cotton Mill, Cockney Sparrow, Ifandbutwhynot, Swing Bowler, Silk Hall and Barizan also line up.

Leading juveniles Tiger Roll and Guitar Pete are set to lock horns for the third time this season in the AES Champion 4YO Hurdle at Punchestown on May 3. Tiger Roll and Guitar Pete The Dessie Hughes-trained Guitar Pete came out on top when the pair finished first and second in the Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown in February, but Gordon Elliott's charge gained his revenge by claiming top honours in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, with Guitar Pete back in third. Hughes' charge has since franked the form by striking gold at last week's Grand National meeting at Aintree and connections of both horses are confident of bold shows at Punchestown next month. Tiger Roll is also in the Racing Post Champion Hurdle, but is set to stick to his own age group. Elliott said: "Tiger Roll will go to Punchestown for the AES Champion Four-Year-Old Hurdle. "He has taken his race at Cheltenham well and is in good form at the moment. "He could not have done any more than he was asked in the Triumph. He looks like a nice horse, so we are looking forward to getting him out again." Hughes said: "Guitar Pete is pretty likely to go to Punchestown now. He has taken his race at Aintree terrifically well and is in very good form. "I was impressed with him at Aintree and it was a good ride from Paul (Carberry). We probably should not have been making as much use of him as we were in previous races. "He had been up in the van every time he won before that and we thought we probably made too much use of him in Cheltenham. "We wanted to get a lead at Aintree and, although we didn't want to drop him out as far as we did, that's Paul Carberry for you! "I think we will get closer to Tiger Roll as long as it's not one race too many." Tiger Roll and Guitar Pete are among 23 entries for the Champion 4YO Hurdle, with Abbyssial, Adriana Des Mottes and Gitane Du Berlais among a strong hand for champion trainer Willie Mullins. Nick Williams' Fox Norton, John Quinn's Pearl Castle and Nicky Henderson's duo of Kentucky Hyden and Royal Irish Hussar are potential challengers from Britain.

Philip Hobbs is ready to let Fingal Bay return to Grade One level in the Ladbrokes World Series Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival. Fingal Bay: Punchestown hopeful The eight-year-old spent over a year on the sidelines with an injury before making a winning comeback at Exeter in early February and he followed up with a thrilling victory in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival. He is likely to face a far sterner task in Ireland, however, with Willie Mullins' incredible mare Quevega potentially bidding for a fifth consecutive victory in this three-mile Grade One event. Hobbs said: "It is pretty likely that Fingal Bay will go to Punchestown for the Ladbrokes World Series Hurdle. "He came out of Cheltenham brilliantly and is in really good form at the moment, but it will be a hot race. "We are hoping he can improve again, but this is an experiment to see what level he is at over hurdles or whether he needs to go back over fences." Don't miss FINGAL BAY run - add him to your free My Stable alerts here! Quevega is one of eight entries for champion trainer Mullins, with Annie Power, Diakali and Thousand Stars also in contention. The Rebecca Curtis-trained At Fishers Cross and Paul Nicholls' Zarkandar also feature among the 20 entries for the 200,000 euro contest. Hayley O'Connor of Ladbrokes said: "We're thrilled to see the A-lister entries for our race, with strong British contenders in the mix. "Quevega's command of the race could face a ferocious challenge and it may shape up to be one of the highlights of the week."

11/04/2014 =============================================== Disciplinary Panel Enquiries
DOLATULO (FR) - Gavin Sheehan - Placings Appeal
STRATFORD-ON-AVON THIRD MARCH MEETING 2014
The Great Value Wines From Bordeaux Undiscovered Handicap Chase
The Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority on 10 April 2014 considered an appeal lodged by Gavin Sheehan, the rider of DOLATULO (FR), the winner of the Great Value Wines From Bordeaux Undiscovered Handicap Chase, against the decision of the Stewards at Stratford to find him guilty of careless riding and to suspend him from riding for 4 days, following an enquiry on 29 March 2014. Sheehan also appealed against the decision of the Stewards to find that DOLATULO (FR) had interfered with BENBENS (IRE), placed second, and that the interference had improved DOLATULO (FR)’s placing, and to reverse the placings.
The Panel heard evidence from Sheehan, who was legally represented, and Sam Twiston-Davies, the rider of BENBENS (IRE). It also viewed recordings of the race.
The Panel found that Sheehan was not guilty of causing any interference to Twiston-Davies. It was satisfied that having landed over the last fence 1½ lengths ahead of Twiston-Davies, Sheehan had every right to maintain the racing line to the commencement of the running rail that was alongside the water jump on the run to the finish line. Twiston-Davies, who was gaining ground, attempted to pass on the unrailed part of the course but had not the speed to do so in time, resulting in him running out of racing room and having to take a check before colliding with the rail.
The Panel therefore upheld Sheehan’s appeal against the finding of Careless riding and quashed the 4 day suspension. As a consequence of finding that Sheehan was not responsible for causing any interference the Panel also upheld the second part of his appeal, placing DOLATULO (FR) first and BENBENS (IRE) second.

========================================== Tendon injury sidelines Warhorse
Owner Roger Brookhouse believes Western Warhorse is unlikely to run next season after suffering a tendon injury at Aintree last week.
The David Pipe-trained six-year-old was a shock 33-1 winner of the Arkle Trophy at last month's Cheltenham Festival, but finished a disappointing third when strongly fancied for the Manifesto Novices' Chase on Merseyside.
However, the injury was soon discovered and given it is likely to keep him out of action for a year, Brookhouse feels there is little point in rushing back for the tail-end of the next campaign.
He said: "He has a tendon injury, unfortunately, and he's back home with me. We'll deal with him and give him plenty of time. I think he's going to need a year off, so I don't think he will run at all next season.
"We know he has plenty of ability, so we'll give him all the time he needs and hopefully he'll be back. It's a tremendous shame, but these things happen."
================================================= Top hurdlers in Champion entry
Champion Hurdle hero Jezki and the horse he deposed at Cheltenham, Hurricane Fly, are among the entries for the Racing Post Champion Hurdle at Punchestown on May 2.
Hurricane Fly was sent off the 11-4 favourite for the Prestbury Park showpiece, but could finish only fourth as the Jessica Harrington-trained Jezki powered up the hill to claim victory in the hands of Barry Geraghty.
Hurricane Fly has, remarkably, won the Racing Post Champion Hurdle for the last four years and has won eight times from nine starts at Punchestown, but he will have his work cut out on this occasion.
His trainer Willie Mullins also has Annie Power, Diakali, Un De Sceaux and Quevega engaged in the two-mile Grade One.
Jezki's owner JP McManus also has Champion Hurdle runner-up My Tent Or Yours entered for the Nicky Henderson team, but he appears unlikely to run given he lines up in this weekend's Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr.
David Pipe's The Liquidator and Gordon Elliott's Triumph Hurdle winner Tiger Roll also feature among 15 possible runners.
================================================ My Tent set weighty task
Nicky Henderson is keen to find out whether the application of headgear will help harness the considerable talents of My Tent Or Yours in the QTS Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr.
The seven-year-old has enjoyed a fine season so far, winning the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle and the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton en route to his Champion Hurdle bid at last month's Cheltenham Festival.
While he lost little in defeat, going down by a neck to fellow JP McManus-owned runner Jezki, My Tent Or Yours's early exuberance may have cost him victory and he is now fitted with a hood in an attempt to curb his enthusiasm.
Henderson said: "Everything has gone great since Cheltenham and I just wanted to give him one more run so we could try a few different things with him.
"I know it's a handicap, but it's a limited handicap with good prize-money. There weren't many alternatives. It was either this or Punchestown (Racing Post Champion Hurdle) and there wasn't much point in him taking on Jezki again as far as JP is concerned.
"Jezki is going to Punchestown, so we'll go to Ayr and we'll see what happens. They will be racing on fresh ground, so there shouldn't be any worries on that score."
My Tent Or Yours concedes upwards of a stone to 10 opponents, headed by last week's Aintree winner Court Minstrel. Evan Williams turns his charge out under a penalty just seven days after his Merseyside triumph.
He said: "He's come out of Aintree exceptionally well and we're happy to let him run. It's not just about the top horse, Alan King (Montbazon) and Gordon Elliott (Flaxen Flare) have good horses in there - it's a very competitive race. Our horse is in great form and deserves to take his chance, so we'll see what happens."
King believes Montbazon is in even better form now than when finishing a close-up third in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham last month.
He told his website: "He was third in the County Hurdle and the form is looking pretty good with the winner (Lac Fontana) going in again at Aintree last week. I hope and think he has improved for that run as we did not have a clear run going into the Festival, but things have gone perfectly since.
"He seems in great form and we are getting plenty of weight from My Tent Of Yours, so we have to give it a go, and the drying ground is definitely a bonus."
Clever Cookie has enjoyed an excellent campaign for trainer Peter Niven, completing a hat-trick in the Premier Kelso Hurdle at the start of March.
Niven said: "It will be a big ask for him, but he's in good form and we'll find out if he's any good. We gave him an entry at Aintree last week, but we decided to wait for this. Josses Hill bolted up in the Aintree race, anyway. I always had this race at the back of my mind, so we'll see what happens."
=========================================== Fab four for red-hot Gosden
John Gosden continued his explosive start to the new Flat season by sending out four potential Group-class horses to win within a brief space of time at Newbury.
Most notable was Western Hymn, who made a positive first step along a route which could yet take him to the Investec Derby with an efficient victory in the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes.
The watching Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum was rewarded with the impressive performances of his colts Kasb and Muwaary, while the filly Bright Approach could be yet another to follow for a stable which also had a four-timer on Wednesday.
Gosden wants Western Hymn to jump through at least one more hoop before Epsom is firmly considered, but on only his second start, the 11-8 favourite made at least 10 lengths up on the leaders in the final couple of furlongs.
William Buick angled him up the inside and got a ready response as he recorded a two-and-a-quarter-length defeat of Sir Michael Stoute's Derby entry Snow Sky, who quickened up in good style himself.
Gosden said: "This is a nice graduation race as he's an immature horse who is still learning. It's a bit quick but we'll take a look at the Sandown Classic Trial now. Then there's always time for another race until that dreaded day at Epsom!"
Royal Ascot looked more likely for the Hamdan pair, and while it is early days for juveniles, there are not likely to be many better ones seen this month than Kasb (10-1). The son of Arcano was slowly into stride in the Al Basti Equiworld EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes and made up an awful lot of ground before winning by a length, going away, from Charlie's Star.
Gosden said: "If I have a two-year-old in April, I like this race. I think I've won it twice before. One never ran again - let's hope this one will - and the other won a Listed race. He has been nice at home but a bit cheeky and very full of himself. We'll go for the six-furlong races now."
Muwaary (2-1 favourite), another unexposed and unbeaten three-year-old, supplemented his only previous success over course and distance last summer by showing plenty of speed in the Dubai Duty Free Full Of Surprises Handicap.
Asked if the Britannia Stakes was on the agenda, Gosden said: "He was off 82 and obviously well handicapped. He'll go up a bit, but that's not a bad idea."
Bright Approach can now chase some black type after edging away from the more experienced 13-8 favourite Be My Gal in division two of the Whitley Stud Maiden Fillies' Stakes.
Gosden said: "She was unsold, and Saeed Manana kindly sent her to me. She's from his best family and could have a crack at the Cheshire Oaks."
On an absorbing afternoon for the purist, the Ralph Beckett-trained Evita Peron (4-1 joint-favourite) looked set for higher office after quickening up well in the Coln Valley Stud Bridget Maiden Fillies' Stakes.
"She's fragile and quite angular and I'd have preferred another 10 days, but I wanted to get her out on decent ground," said Beckett. "She's in the Irish 1,000 Guineas - she'd need to go for something else before that - or the German Guineas is another option."
Lucky Beggar (5-1) looked as if he could make the grade at stakes level as a four-year-old after beating hardened sprinters Jimmy Styles and Steps in the Dubai Duty Free Handicap.
Trainer Charlie Hills said: "He has won that off a mark of 102, so we might think about the Palace House at Newmarket. He likes a bit of cut."
============================================== Al out to prove her class
Marco Botti is optimistic Al Thakhira can put a nightmare trip to America behind her when she has her first run of the season in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury.
The Dubawi filly could not handle the lightning quick conditions at Santa Anita and finished tailed-off last behind Chriselliam in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. However, the ground at Newbury is certain to be on the easy side as Al Thakhira bids to prove herself a Classic prospect.
She had won her previous starts, including the Group Two Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket, in the style of a smart filly and has been pleasing her trainer in her work ahead of the seven-furlong contest, registered as the Fred Darling Stakes.
Botti said: "At least the ground is not going to be fast, so that should be in her favour. She worked well at the weekend and is in good form and ready to start. Last year she was impressive in the Rockfel. Let's hope this year she still retains that ability. On her Rockfel form she should have a good chance."
The Lady Cecil-trained Joyeuse has a point to prove after falling below expectations when only sixth of seven to Vorda in the Cheveley Park Stakes on her last start of 2013. The half-sister to Frankel had earned her place in the Group One by finishing third in Royal Ascot's Albany Stakes and winning the Listed Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury.
"She's had a straightforward winter and preparation," said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah. "She was a little disappointing in the Cheveley Park, but she has developed well over the winter and this is what trials are all about. We are very happy with her."
Cape Factor won four of her five starts, culminating in the Listed Bosra Sham Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket in the autumn, and trainer Rae Guest believes the filly could encounter her ideal racing conditions at the Berkshire circuit.
The Newmarket handler said: "She's wintered well and everything's good with her. She likes plenty of cut in the ground, which it looks like there is, which will be a big plus for her. We're hopeful of a big run and she's in good form. She's come on nicely and is doing good work."
Manderley is still a maiden after five starts as a juvenile, though she did run Wedding Run to three-quarters of a length in a valuable sales race at Newmarket. Richard Hannon believes that performance gives hope of her dealing with the better quality of opposition.
The Wiltshire handler told his website: "Manderley steps into Pattern company for the first time in the Fred Darling. But she gave Wedding Ring a fright in the big sales race at Newmarket last year, and that Godolphin filly only just missed a place in the UAE 1000 Guineas at Meydan, so ours deserves to take her chance."
================================================ Toormore given Craven entry
Europe's champion two-year-old Toormore heads 15 entries in the Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.
Richard Hannon's unbeaten colt will warm up for the Qipco 2000 Guineas in this Group Three over the Rowley Mile in a dress rehearsal for the first colts' Classic.
He does, though, have to carry a 3lb penalty for lifting the Group One National Stakes at the Curragh in September.
There are two other horses with the same burden. They are Toormore's stablemate Anjaal, winner of the Group Two July Stakes, and Group One Phoenix Stakes scorer Sudirman, from David Wachman's County Tipperary stable,
Marco Botti is putting Patentar in at the deep end on the strength of his debut success in a York maiden in October.
"I am pretty sure Patentar is much better than his official rating (of 87), but we will just have to see if he is a 115- or 120-rated horse - he will have to prove that on the track," said the Newmarket trainer.
"We had lots of other options with him but he has been working well and doing everything right at home and his owners want to find out how good he is. He was still a bit weak last year so we decided to give him plenty of time.
"The Craven looks a very hot race, an excellent trial for the Guineas horses, and I am realistic that this represents a big jump from winning a maiden. But he is one of our three-year-olds we hold in high regard and we hope he could be a Group horse.
"The step up to a mile shouldn't be a problem for him as he was doing his best work at the finish when he won over seven furlongs at York."
==================================================== Kingman facing Greenham test
Kingman puts his Classic aspirations on the line in the Aon Greenham Stakes at Newbury.
The John Gosden-trained colt is third favourite at a top-priced 7-1 for the Qipco 2000 Guineas, as much as for his reputation at home as for his achievements on the track so far.
He has done what has been asked of him with victories in both his starts as a two-year-old - a six-length romp in a Newmarket maiden followed by a cosy success in a four-runner affair for the Group Three Solario Stakes at Sandown at the end of August.
Injury prevented him from running again last season, but all has gone well in the build-up to his return to the track in what looks a quality renewal of this Group Three event over seven furlongs.
"It's nice to get him back. He's wintered very well. He's had a very straightforward preparation and everything has gone according to plan," said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah.
"He's pleased in his work and whatever he does tomorrow, I'd hope he'd do a great deal better. I'm sure he'll come on a good deal for it. It will definitely give us a pointer as to where we are with him."
Abdullah's retained rider James Doyle has also been happy with the horse's preparation.
"I sat on him last week. I was really pleased with him. He did a nice, routine piece of work. I couldn't be happier with him, he's moving good," the jockey told At The Races.
"I think the prep is needed to get more experience into him. He's lightly raced. It wasn't a big field at Sandown and I wasn't able to teach him."
================================================== King has faith in Godsmejudge
Proud Scotsman Alan King believes Godsmejudge could be coming back to form at the right time ahead of his defence of the Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr.
Although based at Barbury Castle Stables in Wiltshire, King was born in Lanark and raised outside Hamilton and described last year's triumph as "something awfully special".
Godsmejudge has endured a disappointing campaign so far, pulling up on his last two appearances, but King, who also saddles Midnight Appeal, is hopeful he can bounce back this weekend.
He said: "Both horses seem well and we're looking forward to the race. Things obviously haven't gone great this season for Godsmejudge, but he seems to be coming back to himself and the drying ground should suit him well.
"Midnight Appeal is in in good form and I think the ground will be in his favour as well. This has been his plan for some time. He has been running well in big handicaps all season. It is an unknown trip-wise, but he has always given the impression he will stay."
Wayne Hutchinson guided Godsmejudge to victory 12 months ago, but after suffering injury at Towcester on Thursday, Aidan Coleman takes over in the saddle this weekend.
Coleman told Racing UK: "Unfortunately for Hutch he hurt his knee in a fall on Thursday and I am not sure how long he's going to be out for.
"Godsmejudge won the race last year and he's only 6lb higher. I know he's pulled up on his two most recent starts but horses who have run well in the Scottish National before, usually do so again, plus Alan King's horses are in terrific form, as illustrated by three winners at Aintree. I'll have a chat with Hutch and hopefully Godsmejudge can go close."
Heading the weights for the extended four-mile contest is the Paul Nicholls-trained veteran Tidal Bay, turning out quickly after exiting the Grand National at Aintree last weekend at the Canal Turn.
"My view is that he's 13 and we're not saving him for anything," the trainer told At The Races. "He schooled on Thursday morning, jumped really well and was feeling well, so we thought we'd let him take his chance. Arguably he's well handicapped and he's capable of running a big race."
Nicholls also runs the second horse in at the weights, Sam Winner, and said: "He's got a big chance. Four miles will suit him well and it's a good race for a novice."
There are two Irish-trained runners in the field, with Stuart Crawford's Yes Tom joined on the journey by the Colin McBratney-trained Sole Witness.
Yes Tom won twice and placed six times from nine starts at Ayr when trained by Crawford's fellow County Antrim-based handler Roy Wilson and made a winning debut for his new trainer at Down Royal last month.
Crawford said: "He had a great start for us in Down Royal, it was a nice confidence booster for the horse and we've been very happy with him since. We're quite excited about his chances."
================================================
Byron outgunned by awesome Rupee
Gordon Lord Byron was clinically put in his place by Lankan Rupee in the Darley TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick racecourse.
The Tom Hogan-trained six-year-old was a Group One winner on his first start in Australia last month but could finish only sixth in this six-furlong affair at the inaugural running of 'The Championships' at the Sydney circuit.
Gordon Lord Byron was settled in midfield early on, but jockey Craig Williams was hard at work as they straightened for home. Hogan's three-times Group One scorer made up a little late ground in awful conditions, but he fell some way short of the astounding Lankan Rupee.
The Mick Price-trained five-year-old was quickly into his stride under Craig Newitt and continued to pull further clear to extend his winning run to five races.
Hogan felt conditions at Randwick contributed to Gordon Lord Byron's downfall. He is now set to step back up in trip for the Champions Mile at Sha Tin in Hong Kong.
The County Tipperary handler said: "He missed the break and couldn't get traction on that ground - it was very slippy and sloppy on top. He's thankfully none the worse and will now go to Hong Kong, where we hope for better ground. He'll leave (Australia) on April 22 and we'll then get him ready for the Champions Mile on May 4.
"We want to win every day, but he's a wonderful horse and even gets us prize-money when things go wrong."
Newitt said: "I truly believe he can go anywhere in the world and dominate. He was getting a bit leg-weary late on but he had them all covered. He's gone to a whole new level."
Price said: "I was a bit concerned about the wet track but I left it to the jockey. The horse has come of age."

Scottish Grand National Stats
Coral Scottish Grand National Handicap Chase Grade 3 (CLASS 1) (5yo+) 4m110y
* The Scottish National is a 4m Handicap Chase
* The recent winners had the following Chase runs * 6 18 4 10 16 13 10 19 6 24 21 14 14 5 9 10
* Previous winners had the following runs that season * 6 5 3 3 5 4 4 5 6 5 5 6 6 6 7 5 3 5 * Every past winner had at least 3 runs that season * I would want at least 3 and no more than 7 runs
* I'd avoid all horses that ran in the English Grand National * You have to go back to 1987 for the last one that won * Over 85 horses have since tried and failed
* I looked at horses from Non Handicap Chases * Horses coming from Non Handicap Chases are 2-71 * We can divide this 2-71 record into 3 different categories
* Horses from Listed or Graded Novice Chases were 0-25
* Horses from Non Graded Novice Chases were 0-26
* Horses from the 4m NH Chase at Cheltenham were 2-20 * Both winners came from this race finishing 2nd and 3rd last time
* We need to oppose horses from all Novice Chases * Unless they come from the NH Chase at Cheltenham
* Horses aged 7 won in 2013 2001 1992 1984 1979 1968 1966 * Horses aged 7 have won just 3 times since 1984 * They have underperformed over the years * The 3 winners aged 7 had 6 14 6 Chase runs * They had 6 5 6 runs that season
* Horses that Fell or Pulled Up last time are 0-116
* Horses coming from 2m 6f or shorter struggled * Only 1 past winner did that and he had a run within a week
* Looking at absences 16 of the last 17 winners ran within 57 days
* The last 15 winners were all 1-2-3-4-5-6 last time out
* Look at horses from Cheltenham's Festival * Those that came from Handicap Chases did not score well * In the last 17 renewals only 1 horse did this back in 1998 * Horses from a Cheltenham Handicap were just 1-45
