Driving Abroad? Driving abroad
A few things to consider before driving abroad:
1. Don't assume your UK car insurance policy covers you automatically for travelling abroad - some of the low cost “value” car insurance policies will omit this benefit in order to give you a cheaper quote.
2. Double check you policy - If your policy does include European cover, it may only provide you with the minimum requirement for driving in that country which is generally third party only cover.
3. Get a good motor breakdown policy - Many policies will charge an extra premium for European breakdown cover but this peace of mind is worth the few extra pounds to guarantee your holiday isn't going to be marred by a flat battery or burst tyre.
