Race 1 - 5:30pm THE HOTEL & CONFERENCING AT WOLVERHAMPTON APPRENTICE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) The Starter reported that MY NEW ANGEL, trained by Daniel Loughnane, was unruly in the stalls. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the mare could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference shortly after start. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that LYNNGALE, unplaced, ridden by Kieran Shoemark, had interfered with CLASSIC MISSION, placed second, ridden by Ned Curtis, who then interfered with YOUM JAMIL (USA), unplaced, ridden by Jordan Vaughan. The Stewards found Shoemark in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed the filly to drift left when insufficiently clear of CLASSIC MISSION, causing that runner to be crowded for room and carried in across YOUM JAMIL (USA), which had to be checked. They suspended him for 3 days as follows: Friday 26, Sunday 28 and Monday 29 September 2014.
The Stewards held

Race 2 - 6:00pm THE BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5) The Stewards noted that WENTWORTH FALLS, placed second, had raced greenly and interfered with the winner, TODEGICA, inside the final furlong but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved WENTWORTH FALLS’s placing.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the home turn. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that CYRIL, unplaced, ridden by Fergal Lynch, had interfered with RIVER OF DREAMS (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Shane Gray. They found the interference was accidental.
Fergal Lynch, the rider of CYRIL, unplaced, reported that the gelding ran greenly. Subsequently, Kevin Ryan, the trainer of the gelding reported that he did not face the kick back.
Race 3 - 6:30pm THE wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk FILLIES' HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) The Stewards noted that LILLY JUNIOR, unplaced, had hung right and interfered with VALEN (IRE), placed third, approaching the final furlong but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
The Stewards considered the running of LILLY JUNIOR ridden by B.A. Curtis and trained by Brain Ellison, which finished unplaced. The Stewards noted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that the filly was unsuited by the Tapeta surface. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Non-Race related incidents The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Starter that ROLLING DICE, trained by Dominic Ffrench Davis, refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test. This being the second occasion within the previous 12 months that ROLLING DICE had been reported, the Stewards informed the trainer that if the gelding were reported for a third time within the same period, ROLLING DICE would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.

Ryan Moore is set to get the leg up five times on day three of the St Leger meeting, including his regular mount on Estimate for the Queen. Here you can read the Betfair Ambassador's exclusive thoughts on his quintet of rides...
13:40 Doncaster - Moonraker
Beat a decent horse on his debut at Ascot before finding the combination of stepping up to 6f in better company beyond him in the July Stakes next time. We were just touched off on the line by Mind Of Madness in the Roses Stakes at York last time, where he was still a little bit inexperienced, and I would give him a fair chance of going one better in this. It is clearly a very competitive race though, and there are a few in here that are currently rated higher than him. In fact, the more you look at this race, the more you can give a chance to, so it'll take plenty of winning.
14:10 Doncaster - Stomachion
I would like to think that he will go close here, providing the ground doesn't dry up too much. The race didn't pan out ideally for him at York last time but he still ran well. The ground was a bit too quick for him that day - it was easier than the official good to firm when he won at Newmarket earlier in the season - and they went steady from the front at York and we couldn't make up the ground in time when they quickened up in the straight. So the prominent horses throughout filled the first three places.
Obviously this is a big step up in trip and his stamina is the big unknown, but he gives me the impression that he will last home. There is only one way to find out though, but I certainly think that he has a handicap in him off a mark of 92. Adventure Seeker could be the one to beat.
14:40 Doncaster - Estimate
Obviously ran a superb race on her reappearance in the Gold Cup before that disappointing run at Goodwood. But she bounced back in the Lonsdale at York last time, going down by ½ length to an improver in Pale Mimosa and having the rest well beaten off. She doesn't have that much in hand of a couple of these on official figures and isn't ideally drawn, but, personally, I think that she will win. The longer trip will suit her and she ran a decent third in the Park Hill at this meeting two years ago.
16:25 Doncaster - Peacock
I rode him when he won over 6f on his debut at Newmarket earlier in the season - a race that worked out really well - but he was found wanting when stepped up to 7f for a listed race at Ascot last time. He may be better than he showed there but he will have to be, as I'd say that we all have our work cut out to beat White Lake. I didn't know much about him before I rode him at York, but when I walked into the paddock and saw him I went "he looks the part" - he is a good-looking colt - and so it proved in the race too, as he won like a really good horse. And not many of Luca's do that first time out as a 2yo.
I'd be a little surprised if there was anything in here to beat him, to be honest, though clearly a lot of these are unexposed and promising in their own right, so you can't be too confident. And Acomb runner-up Toocoolforschool does set a decent form standard for him to aim at, especially as the fifth, Salateen, gave that form a boost on Wednesday.
17:00 Doncaster - Enobled
Has been a bit disappointing in truth but it looked like that he was finally going to get his head in front again at Haydock last week, only to get worried out of it on the line by a more unexposed horse. He is due to go up 5lb to 88 in future, but manages to get into this 0-85 Classified Stakes in the meantime, so is effectively 3lb well-in and clearly has a decent chance. The quick turnaround is a bit of worry, though.

Dermot Weld's Mustajeeb, not seen since winning the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot with a penalty, and Aidan O'Brien's Darwin also feature in a strong home team. Brian Ellison does well with his raids on Ireland and saddles Top Notch Tonto, who returned to form when narrowly beaten at York. He will be joined by Mark Johnston's consistent Bow Creek. Jim Bolger's duo of Leitir Mor and Parish Hall and O'Brien's Michaelmas complete the field.

Times Up will bid to become the first horse since 1842 to win the Socialites Electric Cigarettes Doncaster Cup three times in a row on Friday. ![http://e0.365dm.com/13/09/640/tu-close-full_3002723.jpg?20130913155641](http://e0.365dm.com/13/09/640/tu-close-full_3002723.jpg?20130913155641) Times Up: Bids to win Doncaster Cup for third successive season Trained by John Dunlop for his 2012 triumph, the eight-year-old was under the care of his son Ed for the victory last year and he reports all to be going to plan this time around. "Times Up is in fantastic order, he had his final blow-out on Tuesday morning and we are very pleased with him but we are under no illusions about the size of the task in front of him," said Dunlop. "The Lonsdale Cup [when he finished third behind Pale Mimosa and Estimate] was like his first run of the year and prior to that he ran on terrible ground in France when he was sick and he was also sick for his seasonal debut at Newmarket. On and off he was one of the illest horses in my yard. "So it was his best run all year. William [Buick] gave him a lovely ride, and he has definitely progressed since, but I think the Doncaster Cup will be a strong race. "Estimate was a couple of lengths in front of us last time and I’m not sure if we can beat her – I had a chat with Ryan Moore and he is bullish that Estimate will win – but we’ll give it a go. "With this lovely weather Doncaster must be drying out so it should be beautiful racing ground and there will be no excuses on that front. There should also be a big enough field to ensure a good pace which will mean that we can ride Times Up with a bit of restraint." Times Up and Estimate are among a field of 12 for Friday's race with their rivals including Angel Gabriel, Clever Cookie and Whiplash Willie. High Jinx has been declared by James Fanshawe having been off the track since winning a Listed race at Maisons-Laffitte in July.

Estidhkaar will attempt to maintain his rapid progress in a clash with Belardo for Saturday's At The Races Champagne Stakes at Doncaster. ![http://e0.365dm.com/14/07/640/horse-racing-the-july-festival-darley-july-cup-day-newmarket-racecourse-estidhkaar_3171724.jpg?20140712151008](http://e0.365dm.com/14/07/640/horse-racing-the-july-festival-darley-july-cup-day-newmarket-racecourse-estidhkaar_3171724.jpg?20140712151008) Estidhkaar and Paul Hanagan score at Newmarket. The last time Richard Hannon's juvenile was seen, he beat Aktabantay by four and a half lengths in the Superlative Stakes at the Newmarket July meeting, and the runner-up has already graduated to Group Three honours in the Solario at Sandown. Belardo, though, has shown a strong level of form for Roger Varian and was being considered for the major autumn Group Ones after stretching away in the Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury. Just four other horses have been declared for the seven-furlong event, with Aidan O'Brien's War Envoy boasting several decent Group placings to date and Glenalmond stepping up in trip after a good fourth in the Gimcrack. Eve Johnson Houghton's Room Key, third in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, and Aces, who broke his duck at the first attempt for Charlie Hills in a Windsor maiden, complete the line-up.

15:45 Friday 12th September Racing Tips - 12/09/2014
2 year old races haven't been kind to this site but Fast Act looks overpriced at 14/1 back over 5. He didn't seem to handle Goodwood when 2nd to Cotai Glory on penultimate start so a more conventional track should suit too. He is drawn widest of all, probably not ideal given the field will end up far side, but Bond's Girl got a good pace to chase from high numbers before tracking over yesterday and Sarista and Astrophysics should help those high get involved. He'll certainly settle better today and the ground on the straight course will be ideal. Doncaster 13.40 - Fast Act 1pt e/w
Pricewise has ensured the price of Sir Walter Scott has collapsed before my very eyes and is now a best priced 10/1, which won't last long. He is unexposed under Luca Cumani and ran a good race last time. The fact he's eased 1lb is a gift. If he has a chance though then so too does Suegioo who is worth a nibble. He wants further and there's not much pace on but this is a half furlong further than the Ebor and he did best of those from towards the rear that day. He's overpriced at 22/1. Doncaster 14.10 - Sir Walter Scott 1pt e/w Doncaster 14.10 - Suegioo 0.5pt e/w
No prices are of interest in the Doncaster Cup but I like that of Bonnie Grey in the May Hill. She is yet to run a bad race and I think the form of her Group 3 3rd last time will turn out to be very strong. I'm a huge fan of Malabar. She repelled all challengers from the front last time and the 1st and 3rd came for the rear. This is another step up but she looks to be crying out for a mile and not having to do the donkey work up top may suit at a generous 14/1. Doncaster 15.15 - Bonnie Grey 1pt win
Mick Appleby is doing some sterling work with his horses and I hope Danzeno wins today. I'm not a backer at 15/8 though given he can be a bit keen and there's not bags of pace on. Yeeoow was 3rd in this last year on ground softer than ideal, has a 4lb pull with Sir Reginald (winner 12 months ago) and yet is a far bigger price and can't be left alone at 10/1. The yard are in fine form and he's just 1lb above his last win. That came at Ascot over 6, track form that translates well here I always think, and he was staying on behind subsequent scorer Blaine in a very quick time on penultimate start. Last time wasn't great but he's prone to a stinker at York and I can't fathom his price. He'll go close. Doncaster 15.45 - Yeeoow 1pt e/w

14 horses have been declared for Saturday's St Leger (3.50pm) at Doncaster, the final British Classic of the season. Kingston Hill, second in the Epsom Derby, is favourite but faces plenty of dangerous rivals.
John Gosden has three runners, headed by Derby third Romsdal, while Sir Michael Stoute is double handed with Snow Sky and Kings Fete. Richard Hannon's Windshear has attracted plenty of each-way support in the build up to the race while Odeon is a lively outsider for local trainer James Given
The support card features the Portland Handicap (2.40pm), which is as fiercely competitive as ever, but we're helping out by paying an EXTRA PLACE.
SKY BET.

Roger Varian has suffered a couple of big-race false starts with Kingston Hill but the ante-post Ladbrokes St Leger favourite heads to Doncaster on Saturday in what could be a "huge" moment in the trainer's career.
A Group One winner at the same course as a two-year-old and second in the Investec Derby, the grey swerved possible appearances in the Irish Derby and Great Voltigeur Stakes because the ground was considered too quick.
After a week of 'will he, won't he', the Newmarket trainer officially gave Kingston Hill the go-ahead after consulting with big-race jockey Andrea Atzeni over conditions.
Varian said: "It was not a big issue having to miss the Great Voltigeur Stakes as York was actually not that long ago. We purposely gave him a break after the Eclipse and we weren't sucked into any of the big summer races like the King George. He has not been at full throttle all year.
"We are pretty confident Kingston Hill will get the trip. He was ridden aggressively in the Derby from an inside draw and he had every chance to shape like a non-stayer at Epsom, but he galloped all the way to the line. Andrea (Atzeni) has always felt he would get the trip and I am sure he will do.
"Winning my first Classic would be huge. It is a bit more than a Group One, you only get five goes at a Classic in a year and that's if you are lucky enough to have a horse good enough to run.
"There have been some very good trainers with yards full of very good horses who have had to wait a long time to win a Classic."
Clerk of the course Roderick Duncan will not have watered the course, and said: "The instruction is that we try and get safe ground. For Flat racing, we are supposed to aim for good to firm ground and not improve or manipulate that."
Sir Michael Stoute, who finally broke a long Leger losing streak with Conduit in 2008, has opted to run both Gordon winner and Voltigeur runner-up Snow Sky and the still immature Kings Fete.
"Snow Sky has been very consistent and he's had a good preparation," he said.
"With Kings Fete we've nothing to lose. He's got a lot of talent but he's been too keen in the past and we hope this time he'll switch off."
John Gosden has been out of luck on the other occasions he has saddled three runners in Leger, but no other trainer has a more impressive recent record in the season's final Classic.
Stable jockey William Buick picked Derby third Romsdal over Forever Now and Marzocco, with Gosden seeking his fourth Leger since 2007.
"The ground is likely to be on the quicker side of good on Saturday but they will be fine," he said.
"I am very pleased with Forever Now who won at Goodwood and has matured fast - he is still a big frame of a horse but he will stay the trip well. We will drop him out and he will stay well.
"The thing about the Leger is the last furlong and a half - one furlong and 132 yards. Romsdal ran great in the Derby but disappointed in the King George.
"But he seemed in good form at the weekend and we have given him plenty of time to come to his strength. He will stay on his dam's side.
"Marzocco may find the trip a bit sharp but apart from that will run well."
While Gosden leads the championship, Richard Hannon is fighting hard to defend the title landed by his father.
A stable not so readily associated with stayers, Windshear is back up against Snow Sky and Hartnell, to whom he was respectively second in the Gordon Stakes and Bahrain Trophy.
"I think Windshear was very unlucky not to beat Snow Sky last time out at Goodwood and I think the extra distance will suit him. He has had a nice break, put on weight and looks well." said Hannon.
Hartnell, who was only sixth in the Great Voltigeur at York, is one of a Mark Johnston trio, but only Somewhat would prefer the quicker going.
The trainer's wife, Deirdre, said: ''Hartnell goes on any ground but we would prefer it to be on soft side for him.
"We've been placed going all the way back to Double Trigger and then with Bandari and Corsica and have punched above our weight once or twice. I think that if the ground was a bit softer, both Alex My Box and Hartnell would have fantastic chances."
Haydock maiden winner Min Alemarat was fifth in a Deauville Listed event last time and trainer Marco Botti said: "We always thought he would be a better horse in the second half of the season.
"We have had to protect him from fast ground but he stays well."
Odeon is a fractious individual but James Given has successfully tried him with headgear in the paddock to settle him down, and said: "I was a bit surprised that his price is so big as he has finished third in the Voltigeur, beating some of the horses who are shorter priced than him.
"He has got the pedigree for the race as well as the physique and the big galloping track will also suit him."
Scotland, third in the King Edward VII at Royal Ascot, is thought by trainer Andrew Balding to be better than his Gordon Stakes fifth. ===========================================
Last year's Gold Cup heroine Estimate got back on the winning trail in the colours of the Queen in the Socialites Electric Cigarettes Doncaster Cup.
Sir Michael Stoute's mare only narrowly failed to successfully defend her crown at Royal Ascot in June and although disappointing on her next appearance at Goodwood, she was back on-song when runner-up in the Lonsdale Cup at York.
Sent off the 11-8 favourite for her latest assignment on Town Moor, Estimate was always in a good position in the hands of Ryan Moore and appeared poised to strike early in the home straight. There was a brief moment of concern as she looked slightly awkward when coming under pressure, with her tongue hanging out, but the further she went the better she looked and she was well on top at the finish.
Whiplash Willie ran a fine race to take second, beaten a length and a quarter, with Irish raider Kalann just a neck away in third. The Ed Dunlop-trained Times Up, bidding for a third successive victory in the two-and-a-quarter-mile Group Two, travelled well for a long way but faded out of contention.
John Warren, the Queen's racing advisor, said: "Ryan said he had a good bit of petrol in the tank. He said her last two runs have brought her back to where she was, which is obviously great. She is such a game filly. The Queen would be so proud, she would have got a real buzz out of it."
Moore confirmed: "She was never going to get beat today. She travelled sweetly and I didn't have anything to really bring me long enough. When she's in front she just waits a bit, but when she feels them coming she battles away. I hadn't really asked her a serious question and there was plenty in the tank."
Stoute said: "It was great seeing her win as she ran such a blinder in the Gold Cup. Goodwood just didn't suit her, it was just too firm for her there.
"She's a lively filly that has a lot of energy and gets bored every now and again. She can be a little bit narky. Her resolution can never be questioned, but she is a character, and they (the staff) do a great job with her.
"I think we have to consider it (Melbourne Cup), but I won't make the final decision. I'm not paying! You'd wonder a bit about the ground at Flemington as she does like a little bit of forgiveness in it. We'll think about it and discuss it with the Queen and John Warren."
Asked whether this would be Estimate's final season, Warren said: "I would say if I asked the Queen the direct question, I think she would almost for sure say 'don't you think she's done us well enough?' It will be the Queen's decision, but it's almost sure (she will retire) I would say."
On a potential trip to Australia, Warren said: "The most important thing would be the welfare of the filly herself. She fundamentally now has her breeding career in front of her and it's very important to protect the process of that. If you get a filly to start off on the wrong leg in her first year at stud, if she's not cycling correctly and doesn't come into season until late, you end up with a very late foal and have to miss a year the following year.
"There are a lot of complexities that have to be taken into account regarding the welfare of the filly in terms of her breeding prospects. Obviously the travelling is a huge ask as well, so there are many complexities. The tempo of the race in Australia is not quite what this filly is about. This filly is about sticking it out and Australia can be a bit stop-start.
"I know there's been huge pressure from the Australians for the Queen to have a runner, understandably, which would be amazing to do. For so many reasons it's good. I would say today another element to the equation was the ground was kind to her, whereas at Goodwood it was fast. I think Australia probably has quick ground.
"I sound as though I'm talking myself out of the Melbourne Cup, but there are a number of people that will have an input. The French race (Prix du Cadran) is probably the right race for her, but the ground could be bottomless in Paris, so that will have a bearing. We'll talk to Ryan (Moore), obviously Michael (Stoute) will have a view.
"There are only three options - Ascot (Champions Day), Paris and Melbourne. My hunch is she probably won't go to Australia. Ascot could be favourite in the sense that the Queen could see her race again, but Ascot is two miles whereas the French race is further.
"We'll stick all the heads together, put a proposition to the Queen and see which way she feels it will go forward. I know the Queen's most important thing will be about the welfare of the filly."
Whiplash Willie's jockey David Probert said: "He's galloped all the way to the line and handled the ground as we thought it might be a bit quick. He's so genuine and tries his heart out. Since his injury he's come back stronger but we knew he had ability. Hopefully he can get his head in front before the season is out, he should have his ground."
Leigh Roche, rider of Kalann, said: "I thought he might lack the class of a few of these but the key to him is the trip. He'd have preferred the ground even faster as three out I thought he might have won. He's run a great race and for my first ride here that was some thrill."
Peter Niven's stable star Clever Cookie has come a long way since running over hurdles last winter and ran a stormer to finish fourth.
Niven said: "He's run a fantastic race. After the Ebor we went easy on him as the ground was quick enough that day, he could do with it being softer than it was today really. I said to Graham (Lee) to drop him in and he's come home strongly.
"He'll be a Cup horse next year, especially on softer ground. I don't know if he runs again this year but handicaps are out. That was a Group Two with Group One winners. Hurdles are out, why risk him for £15,000?" ====================================
There was a dramatic climax to the Polypipe Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster as Cotai Glory threw away almost certain victory by unseating George Baker, gifting the race to Richard Hannon's Beacon.
The Charlie Hills-trained Cotai Glory got off to a fast start in the five-furlong Group Two and showed a potent turn of foot to leave his rivals trailing in his wake passing the furlong marker.
He was still a couple of lengths to the good when he began hanging violently towards the stands rail as the line approached, and as his saddle slipped, Baker was unable to hold on, getting dumped on the turf.
On the far side of the track Beacon (8-1) got up in the last stride under William Buick to deny 50-1 shot Astrophysics by a head, with Accepted just half a length away in third.
Seemingly none the worse, a tearful Baker was comforted by Hills before the pair walked back on to the racecourse to collect the horse.
Baker said: "I was lugging right when I had the race won, but something must have caught his vision. The saddle went slightly - it's so annoying but it's just one of those things. Put it this way, I definitely wouldn't make a jump jockey."
Hills said: "The horse is absolutely fine and we're obviously a bit distraught. If George had managed (to stay on) another four strides he'd have been all right, but the horse is very quick, you can't take anything away from him. He's got his quirks. It's a hard one to swallow, but he's a good horse and we live to fight another day."
The Lambourn trainer added: "His saddle didn't slip. He just wasn't doing a lot in front, he lost his concentration and ducked to the right, that's all."
Buick said: "I'm glad George is up and walking. We got outpaced early so we were an awful long way back, but he had a huge finish. We were lucky to win, no doubt about it, but then again, if we'd have been second, we'd have been unlucky.
"He's a good little horse and just getting his toe in probably suited him as well. He's obviously thought highly of in the Hannon camp."
Alex Smith, representing winning owners Highclere, said: "Our horse ran the last furlong in a very quick time. It took him a bit of time to get himself gathered together, but he flew at the end. William said that ground was nice enough - he doesn't want it fast. It was always the intention to come here and hope he'd run well, so we've nothing planned, really."
Graham Lee, rider of the David Elsworth-trained runner-up, said: "He's run a good race. He's obviously got plenty of speed. I didn't see what happened to the winner."
Fozzy Stack, son and assistant to trainer Tommy, was pleased with the performance of Accepted, but it could yet be his last run for the yard.
"He'll be a nice horse next year, he towered over most of them in the paddock. He stuck on well but Wayne (Lordan) said he could have done with something to aim at, Cotai Glory was a bit away from him," he said.
"He's in the sale (on Saturday) but obviously we'd like to keep him. He won't run again this season whatever happens at the sale." ==========================================
Agnes Stewart was much too good for her rivals in the John Smith's Extra Smooth May Hill Stakes for trainer Eddie Lynam and jockey Billy Lee at Doncaster.
A winner on her debut at Fairyhouse before finding Jack Naylor too strong in Leopardstown's Silver Flash Stakes, Agnes Stewart was an 11-4 shot for this Group Two test, trying a mile for the first time, and Lee cut a confident figure throughout.
Positioned widest of all from the off, while most of her opponents were rowing along passing the two-furlong marker, Agnes Stewart was still full of running and she quickened clear under hand driving to put the race to bed.
She was given a couple of reminders in the closing stages to keep her up to her work, but was well on top at the end as she came home a length and a quarter clear of 13-8 favourite Muraaqaba, with Shagah a neck away in third.
Lee said: "She travelled well the whole way and I was just getting there (the front) a bit sooner than I'd have liked. I was just trying to hold on to her, but I knew she'd stay when I went for her and she kept galloping all the way to the line.
"I was just thinking all along she was either going to do it easy or not at all as she's a pretty good filly.
"She'll improve over the winter, hopefully. She'll get a little bit further, but I think she has plenty of pace for a mile."
Lynam said: "Last week we got a huge offer for her and I got a bit nervous, but we decided to keep her, thankfully.
"She will have one more run this season, we could supplement her for the Group One at Newmarket (Fillies' Mile) because the dopey trainer put Anthem Alexander down on the entry form instead of her by mistake.
"There's also the option of running in France (Prix Marcel Boussac), but I think we might go to Newmarket."
Deirdre Johnston, wife and assistant to Muraaqaba's trainer Mark Johnston, said: "She was still second in a Group Two, one of the top fillies' races of the season and we'll have plenty more days with her. Paul (Hanagan) isn't sure about the mile and we'll sit down and have a look where to go."
Trainer Richard Hannon said of Shagah: "She's run a super race and picked up black type so it's job done. She's in the Fillies' Mile so we'll have a look at that. She'll make a nice filly for next year." ==========================================
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Stomachion was a comprehensive winner of Doncaster's Ladbrokes Mallard Stakes in the hands of Ryan Moore.
Buckland and Big Thunder led the field into the straight, with Moore already hard at work aboard the eventual winner.
However, while the pacesetters began to falter heading inside the last quarter-mile, 15-2 chance Stomachion was just coming into his own and he powered clear in the closing stages to record an impressive victory by two and three-quarter lengths.
Retirement Plan and Suegioo finished second and third respectively.
Moore said: "He was a bit unlucky at York (last time) as they went slow. It was a muddling race today, actually, but I thought the extra two furlongs would suit him and he's done it very well in the end.
"We had a good draw, but we weren't going very fast, it was a bit crowded and he was just on and off the bridle really. He picked up well when he got the splits, put his head down and quickened up well."
Stoute said: "We always felt he was effective enough over a mile and a half and he'd been proving that, but I felt after York we should go a little further and Ryan agreed. It suited him.
"I always thought it was going to be a muddling affair and he goes a bit on and off the bridle until he really gets into top gear. That's how he races, that's why he stays so well."
Retirement Plan's trainer Lady Cecil said: "He's run another good race, he just needs further.
"We'll take him home and see how he is but he's in the Cesarewitch so that might be where he runs next."
Nafaqa gave his supporters a late scare before landing the Weatherbys Stallion Book Flying Scotsman Stakes under Paul Hanagan.
Formerly trained by the late John Hills and now in the care of his father Barry, Nafaqa was thrown in at the deep end on his debut in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, but performed superbly to finish fourth.
He confirmed the promise of that run when getting off the mark at Newbury in July and was an 8-1 shot stepping back up to Listed class.
The Sir Percy colt travelled well for the first half of the seven-furlong contest before being asked to take closer order.
Toocoolforschool was the only one able to go with Nafaqa passing the furlong marker and the pair quickly pulled clear.
Just as Nafaqa began to get the better of the argument, he started hanging badly as the line loomed, but he still passed the post half a length to the good.
The Queen's Peacock got going late to finish third, with heavily supported 8-11 favourite White Lake disappointing in fourth.
Hanagan said: "Something caught his eye and it seems to be that big tent (towards the back of the racecourse). I thought I was going to do a George Baker all over again!
"He's still a big baby and it's a lot to take in for him."
Hills said: "He will have one more run (this season) and I would hope it will be in the Royal Lodge."
Badr Al Badoor (5-1) gave Tom Queally a welcome winner when outbattling Danzeno in the Coopers Marquees Handicap.
Mick Appleby had big plans for Danzeno after being balloted out of the Sprint Cup last week and had hoped the Chipchase Stakes winner would take this before being aimed at some loftier targets.
Having struck the front under Andrew Mullen, the six-and-a-half-furlong trip appeared to slightly catch him out as, despite being leaned on by the runner-up throughout the final furlong, James Fanshawe's filly narrowly prevailed by a head.
Bruce Raymond, racing manager for the winning owner, said: "She's been running over seven furlongs but not quite getting home, but it helped her to settle.
"It took her a long time to get over a trip to Dubai and hopefully she will go on from here." =========================================
Aidan O'Brien is banking on further progress from dual Derby hero Australia as the master of Ballydoyle strives to win the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes for an eighth time at Leopardstown on Saturday.
The Epsom and Curragh Classic winner was not inconvenienced by the drop back in distance for the Juddmonte International Stakes at York which he won in great style from The Grey Gatsby.
O'Brien made it clear Australia was only just ready to return to the track when he turned up on the Knavesmire last month.
"We were delighted he ran in York and got through it and look forward to Leopardstown with him. He was only ready to go racing that day. He'd had a good break and done very well. He was only ready for a good racecourse gallop," he said.
"That was the state he was at and obviously we were a bit worried going into a big race like that, but he came out of it well and we were delighted with the performance on the day. We'll take one race at a time. Leopardstown is the next target. I suppose we'll discuss his next race after that. That's what we've always done with every race so far."
Australia's rider Joseph O'Brien is welcoming the challenge in what looks a solid renewal.
He said: "It's great there's a good field. You have to beat the best to be the best and the more the better horses turn up the better. It's such a competitive race and very exciting. I might never get to ride another one like him again."
The Grey Gatsby was supplemented at the five-day stage and his trainer Kevin Ryan has no qualms about taking on his old adversary with the Dante and French Derby hero.
When asked if he would rather not take on Australia, Ryan said: "What else am I supposed to do? He ran a great race at York but there's lots of good horses in it - it's not just a two-horse race by any means.
"Australia got first run on us at York, but I'm still not sure we'd have beaten him. This is a different day, three weeks later, and they are the two best around. He stays in training next year, there's no doubt about that."
Australia will be accompanied by his regular pacemaker Kingfisher, while Eclipse winner Mukhadram could also have a helping hand in Alkasser from Dermot Weld's stable.
Mukhadram, trained by William Haggas, was only fourth behind Australia at York, but connections feel they may have got the tactics wrong there.
"It should be a fascinating race. William (Haggas) seems happy with him. He feels he's a horse that loves his racing. He's had a long, relatively hard, season. At the moment he's not showing any sign of the effects. He's a big, tough horse," said Angus Gold, racing manager for owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.
"He's a horse that likes to get on with it and do his own thing.
"We probably disappointed him at York. Sheikh Hamdan told Paul (Hanagan) to make sure he got a lead. The horse fought him for two furlongs and that was it. The horse got fed up with it. He's a very good horse on his day and is taking on the big boys."
Al Kazeem won three Group One races last year and was second in this race 12 months ago before going to stud. Now back in training, the Roger Charlton-trained six-year-old tries his hand at the top level again after winning the Group Three Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor last month.
Owner John Deer said: "It's going to be a tough one and I don't really know where he is compared to where he was last year, but we'll find out on Saturday. He's been doing some nice work on the gallops, apparently, and I hope he might be back to somewhere near where he was this time last year.
"It looks like there should be plenty of pace in the race. It looks as though Mukhadram has a pacemaker in the race and Australia will have a pacemaker as well. If there is a good pace, we'll probably stay back, as will Australia, I would imagine, and we'll see how things pan out from there.
"The one small concern I have is that the ground might be a little bit on the fast side for him. I think it might be similar to when he ran at York last year (in the Juddmonte International) where he looked like he was going to win and didn't quite go through with it on the ground (finishing third behind Declaration Of War).
"He's an older horse now and pretty strong, so hopefully he'll do all right. At the end of the day, he doesn't owe us anything and I just hope he doesn't get thrashed. If he does, we'll look at Group Three races at home or Group Two or Group Ones in Germany or places like that." ==========================================
Joseph O'Brien admits dropping down half a mile in distance is "not ideal" for Tapestry in the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.
Always highly regarded, she was sent off 4-1 favourite for the Newmarket 1000 Guineas in May but ran no sort of a race. She shaped a little better in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, and could then have been considered an unlucky loser in the Irish Oaks as her saddle slipped.
After that she caused one of the shocks of the season when beating King George heroine Taghrooda in the Yorkshire Oaks.
O'Brien told RTE Sport: " Tapestry won very well at York but she's coming back considerably in trip to a mile. It's not ideal but we're hoping she'll run a big race."
Coronation Stakes winner Rizeena renews rivalry with Tapestry and returns to action against her own sex for the Clive Brittain operation. She was last seen finishing fourth behind Kingman in the Prix Jacques le Marois in France.
Bruce Raymond, racing manager for owner Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, said: "She's in great form. Ryan Moore has been doing all the work on her, as usual.
"Looking at the race, I think she has a good winning chance. She ran a great race last time, she is maybe a bit fresher now and we know she's a very good miler.
"I wouldn't mind seeing a drop of rain, although it rarely gets rattling fast in Ireland. It's a race I think she should win and I would certainly be disappointed if she's not in the first three."
Willie McCreery's Fiesolana has been running well in good company all year but still needs to prove her effectiveness over a mile rather than seven furlongs.
"She's run well over a mile this year but I'd still rather it was over seven. She gets the mile and the ground being decent will help her get it. She's in great form, she has a nice draw and the ground is fine, all her wins in Ireland last year were on watered ground," said McCreery.
"Tapestry has a little bit to prove coming back to a mile, I wonder if they are going to go a million miles an hour to make it a real test for her.
"All going well we'll head to France for the Foret after this."
Mick Channon is sending over Wee Jean but his son Michael jnr is aware she faces a tough test.
"Wee Jean is as game as a pebble and has shown she's up to trying for black type. This is a big step up in class, but she'll certainly keep them honest," he said. ========================================
Richard Hannon's Estidhkaar aims to rubber-stamp the promising impression he has already made when he runs in the At The Races Champagne Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday.
Runner-up on his debut at Goodwood, he had no trouble breaking his maiden at the second time of asking at Newbury and was then sent off favourite for the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket.
Paul Hanagan never looked in any trouble in the Group Two and he pulled four and a half lengths clear of the smart Aktabantay, who has subsequently won the Solario Stakes to frank the form.
Angus Gold, racing manager for owner Hamdan Al Maktoum, said: "He won very well at Newmarket and has been trained specially for this.
"He looks like a horse who is going to improve with a bit of time, physically. He needs time to mature and Sheikh Hamdan doesn't want to be too hard on him this year.
"I loved his attitude at Newmarket. The further he went, the better he went.
"The Hannons seem very happy with him so we hope he can perform to his best. The runner-up Aktabantay gave the form a boost when winning the Solario."
Eve Johnson Houghton has a nice colt on her hands in the shape of Room Key, who won on his debut at Salisbury and last time out was third behind the very smart Highland Reel at Goodwood.
"He is a nice horse and was a bit unlucky in the Vintage Stakes," said Johnson Houghton.
"He ran like I knew he would and I think he is only going to improve for that. It has surprised me how precocious he is. I thought he would be more of a horse for next year and, with that in mind, I think it's quite exciting what we have for next year."
Roger Varian's Belardo was an impressive winner of a Listed race at Newbury last time out and his only defeat came behind Ivawood at Newmarket.
Owner Prince Faisal's racing manager Ted Voute said: "We're looking forward to it. He won on fast ground at Yarmouth first time out and it was a good bit softer at Newbury last time, so all ground appears to come alike. I just think he doesn't want extremes.
"Hamdan's horse (Estidhkaar) looks very smart and this race brings plenty of strands of form together, so much so that the winner is likely to be up there with Ivawood as the best about. I think the winner of this will have to be very smart, it's a very good renewal.
"If we finish close I'll be happy, but the Dewhurst is the dream. It's on the horizon but I think we need to win to think about going for it."
Aiming to keep the prize in the north is Karl Buke's Glenalmond, beaten just a length into fourth in the Gimcrack on his second start.
"He ran a blinder at York and even though he had a rating of 75, we never saw it as a gamble. It was fully justified and as his owners bred him and have the mare, they were never interested in winning a nursery of 75, they wanted black type," said Burke.
"I knew he'd run well and he did. I couldn't say he's definitely the best two-year-old I've got as we've got some very nice ones this year, but he's certainly one of the best. What I can say is that his home work is improving all the time." =========================================
Richard Hughes believes the Ladbrokes Portland Handicap at Doncaster on Saturday could be the "ideal race" for Intrinsic.
The Robert Cowell-trained sprinter won his first three starts for his new yard after leaving Sir Michael Stoute and was given a typical Hughes ride when successful in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood.
Although he was well beaten when stepped up to Listed company in the Hopeful Stakes at Newmarket, connections believe he had a viable excuse that day.
Cowell said: "We found that after Newmarket he scoped badly, he looked great going into the race. It was a dirty scope, but not a real bad one. Just on the day he wasn't quite right.
"He's back to five and a half (furlongs) and I thought this looked the ideal race. We want to know if he's going for Group races over five or or six. I'm not worried if it's a bit short as after a furlong he had them all beat (at Goodwood).
"We'll find out if he's a Group horse if he keeps winning those handicaps. If they look like the winner through the whole race then they are usually pretty special. To be able to be in a high-class handicap like the Stewards' Cup and think you're going to win the whole way is a good sign."
Cowell also runs Goldream, who won well on his last outing on Shergar Cup day at Ascot.
Fifth behind Intrinsic at Goodwood was William Haggas' highly-regarded Muthmir, a very impressive winner at York just a week earlier. Connections are hoping the ground continues to dry as he is thought to be at his best on a fast surface.
Angus Gold, racing manager for owner Hamdan Al Maktoum, said: "He's a fast horse. William's been very patient with him, he loves top of the ground. Hopefully it will be quick enough for him. It just didn't pan out for him at Goodwood (in the Stewards' Cup). William's got great faith in the horse and hopefully he will run a good race."
Les Eyre returned to Britain earlier this year after successfully training in Spain for a number of years, and was on the mark earlier in the week when Bob struck in the Leger Legends race for Dale Gibson.
Compton Park has been a real flag-bearer for the Ebor-winning handler and has won three of his last four starts - but they have all been over six furlongs.
"He travels very well in his races and that is why we don't think the drop in trip will be an issue. I'm surprised how effective he was earlier in the season on ground with cut. In Spain he wanted it like a road so I hope it keeps drying," said Eyre.
"He's gone up 17lb for three wins, which seems a bit harsh as the furthest he's won by is a length and three-quarters. With his style you have to hide him in among horses and then pounce in the last furlong. His only disappointing run came at Ripon and David Allan got off and said to never run him there again as he didn't like the undulations.
"It's a bit ambitious, maybe, but it didn't look like he'd get in the Gold Cup at Ayr and this is worth more money than the Silver Cup. He's got a good chance but I'd prefer an extra 100 yards for him."
Alan Bailey's Go Far has won his last three races and arrives in South Yorkshire at the top of his game.
"When they are in such form it's a case of striking while the iron is hot. The handicapper is having a say now and we really wanted to go for the Ayr Gold Cup but even with his penalty for his last win, he still needs five to come out. If he wins this he'll get another 3lb and that might get him in ," said Bailey.
"We could have kept him back for Ayr and it might have rained and he doesn't like soft, or he might not get in so we've nothing to lose by running.
"He 's won over five and six furlongs and is very, very well." =========================================
A new chapter begins with an old associate for Treve on Sunday as she makes her comeback under Thierry Jarnet in the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp.
Twelve months ago in this race, Criquette Head-Maarek's filly looked unbeatable when winning for the only time in her career under Frankie Dettori, who was injured for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and allowed Jarnet to return to the plate and guide her to that memorable success.
Dettori is the retained rider for Al Shaqab Racing, and the pair were narrowly beaten by Cirrus Des Aigles in the Prix Ganay before her third-placed finish in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot. Excuses emerged, but at the start of this week it was announced that Head-Maarek had asked for Jarnet to have the ride, as he does much of the work on her at home.
Harry Herbert, the owners' racing advisor, said: "I'm a huge Treve fan. You only have to look at the Prince of Wales's Stakes when she was running on three legs. That is not an excuse, she was very wrong. She was very sore in her back and did not run her race. That is how brilliant she is, she was only beaten a couple of lengths that day.
"But she looks amazing now. She is physically blossoming and, like a lot of fillies, this is the time of year when they start to blossom and she is coming to the fore.
"Criquette has warned everyone that the Vermeille is not the Arc, so she may be slightly short of fitness on Sunday. Whatever she does, she will come on for that run. She's in very good shape. She is a very brilliant filly. I have no doubt she has trained on and can be a serious contender in the Arc."
John Gosden fields two of Treve's major rivals, and stable jockey William Buick has chosen Pomology over Sultanina. Although Sultanina won the Nassau Stakes, the unbeaten Pomology defeated her in the Lancashire Oaks.
The progressive Dolniya and Baltic Baroness are the most interesting other French-trained runners.
The key three-year-old Arc trial, the Prix Niel, sees Andre Fabre's surprise Grand Prix de Paris winner Gallante up against recent Al Shaqab purchase Ectot and Aidan O'Brien's Adelaide
And in the Prix Foy, for older horses, Fabre's Flintshire is joined by O'Brien and Al Shaqab's 2013 Derby winner Ruler Of The World (Dettori) plus Pascal Bary's Spiritjim, who was disqualified after being first past the post in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud due to a positive drugs test.
Richard Hannon should have a major bearing on the Prix du Moulin with both Queen Anne winner Toronado and the 2000 Guineas winner Night Of Thunder lining up.
Charm Spirit beat another Hannon miler, Shifting Power, in the Prix Jean Prat and Freddy Head said: "He is very well, he's a very nice horse and he is improving all the time. I think he is a different horse right now to what he was at Newmarket (fifth in the Guineas). The going should be good and I think he could be hard to beat."
Master Carpenter won a Group Three at Chantilly in June and trainer Rod Millman said: "He's very well and they are watering the track so the ground should be safe enough for him to run. It's a very competitive Group One, but we couldn't be happier with him and we've got Christophe Soumillon who won on him at Chantilly. That should be an advantage, I think.
"He probably didn't quite get the trip over a mile and a quarter, but he still got some good prize money. I think he deserves his chance in a race like this. I just wish Mr Hannon wasn't running his two!"
High Jinx, who often runs well across the Channel, is the only British stayer in the Prix Gladiateur.
"People have questioned him a bit, but to be fair to him he was never right last year. He got too heavy and had a few little niggles," trainer James Fanshawe told At The Races.
"We gelded him in the winter and he's been really consistent this year. We've been avoiding firm ground with him. It was great to get him winning at Maisons-Laffitte and he's come out of the race really well. He deserves to win a decent race."
The Prix du Petit Couvert has drawn a handful of British raiders including David O'Meara's Move In Time, the Tony Carroll-trained Caspian Prince and David Brown's Wind Fire. Rae Guest's Mirza dead-heated in the race last year and he tries again after narrowly missing out in the Beverley Bullet.
Owner John Deer will also have a representative in the race in the John Hammond-trained Penmaen winner of her last two starts but taking a steep hike in class.
Deer said: "She's a Pivotal filly out of a mare called Lady Grace and she's done very well so far, winning five races. She's going to run in the Group Three this weekend and I just found out she's been entered in the Prix de l'Abbaye. I won the Abbaye with Patavellian (2003) and not many people gave him a chance.
"I certainly wouldn't discount it (for Penmaen) as they always go a hell of a clip and she's the sort of filly who can sit back and come through as she has a hell of a turn of foot. It will be her first run in Group Three company this weekend, so we'll see how she goes."

Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Dobbs for 2 days as follows: Friday 26 and Sunday 28 September 2014.
The Stewards noted that the winner, KARAM ALBAARI (IRE), had interfered with SPECIALITY (IRE), unplaced, approaching the two-furlong marker, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved KARAM ALBAARI (IRE)’s placing.
The Stewards noted that TIGHT LIPPED (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with CHORAL FESTIVAL, unplaced, approaching half a furlong out, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
Steve Drowne, the rider of SABRE ROCK, unplaced, reported that the gelding was never travelling from the bend. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
View Stewards Report Doncaster, 12 Sep 14
Race 1 - 1:40pm THE POLYPIPE FLYING CHILDERS STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 2) The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of George Baker, the rider of COTAI GLORY, just before the winning line. They interviewed Baker and having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by COTAI GLORY hanging sharply right, causing the rider's saddle to slip slightly and unbalancing him. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved the Stewards took no further action.
The Stewards considered the running of AHLAN EMARATI (IRE), ridden by Jimmy Fortune and trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, which finished unplaced. The Stewards noted the trainer's explanation that the colt was in need of a break, having had a busy season. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination during routine testing of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Jamie Spencer, the rider of MIND OF MADNESS (IRE), unplaced, reported that the colt became upset in the stalls and was slowly away.
Race 2 - 2:10pm THE LADBROKES MALLARD STAKES (CLASS 2 HANDICAP) David Probert, the rider of ADVENTURE SEEKER (IRE), unplaced, reported that the colt hung left.
Phillip Makin, the rider of GREAT HALL, unplaced, reported that the gelding hung left.
Race 4 - 3:15pm THE JOHN SMITH'S EXTRA SMOOTH MAY HILL STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 2) Fergus Sweeney, the rider of ALONSOA (IRE), unplaced, reported that the filly ran flat. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination during routine testing of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 5 - 3:45pm THE COOPERS MARQUEES HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2) The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that DANZENO, placed second, ridden by Andrew Mullen, had interfered with HUNTSMANS CLOSE, placed third, ridden by Jack Garritty. The Stewards found Mullen in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left into the whip without taking sufficient corrective measures, thereby causing interference. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Friday 26 September 2014.
The Stewards considered the running of SIR REGINALD, ridden by Paul Hanagan and trained by Richard Fahey, which finished unplaced. They noted the trainer's representative could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination during routine testing of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 6 - 4:25pm THE WEATHERBYS STALLION BOOK FLYING SCOTSMAN STAKES (CLASS 1) (Listed Race) The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Paul Hanagan, the rider of the winner, NAFAQA (IRE), on the run to the line. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they accepted his explanation that the colt had tried to duck right-handed and he feared that it would continue in that direction and so he had to use his whip rapidly down the shoulder in the forehand in an effort to prevent it. They therefore found Hanagan not in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2.
Non-Race related incidents In race two,the Stewards noted that RETIREMENT PLAN, trained by Lady Cecil, entered the Parade Ring after the signal to mount had been given. They noted the trainer's explanation that the colt had proved difficult to saddle.

Derby second Kingston Hill is a worthy favourite if he takes his chance in Saturday's St Leger says Betfair Ambassador Ryan Moore, but don't rule out a good run from Ryan's own mount Kings Fete in the final Classic of the season...
When you are looking at the St Leger, you simply have to start with Kingston Hill, because I think that if he runs to the form of his Derby second then he will win.
Now, I appreciate that he is unproven over the trip and connections would prefer more ease in the ground than he is likely to encounter here.
But if you look at his Epsom second to Australia, he was actually coming back at the winner at the finish, so this trip could well suit him. And it will certainly favour him a lot better than the 1m2f of the Eclipse did last time, even though he ran really well to finish fourth there over far too short a trip.
And, as regards the ground, I hear that Timeform actually thought it was good to firm at Epsom, quicker than the official description of good. So perhaps they don't need to be worried about the drying conditions.
But I suppose that they may pull him out again on the day if they think it is too fast, as they did in the Voltigeur. And if that happens then this race is really up for grabs.
Epsom third Romsdal would arguably be the leading beneficiary if the favourite does withdraw - and I have heard good vibes about him as well - but he has to bounce back from a poor run in the King George, and Snow Sky is arguably a more solid proposition.
He has done little wrong. Ok, he may have been a little fortunate to beat Windshear narrowly at Goodwood but he pulled well clear of the third when runner-up to a smart one in Postponed in the Voltigeur last time.
He should run well for the boss and Prince Khalid if lasting home, as hopefully will my mount, Kings Fete.
On the book, he needs to improve a stone and more to beat a peak-form Kingston Hill, having been beaten off a mark of 96 at Goodwood. And the simple fact is that he finished a length behind Forever Now and Alex My Boy at the same track in the March Stakes last time.
But if I can get him to settle then I think he has ability to step up and take a hand, as the boss has always thought a bit of him.
What I would say though is don't pay too much attention to anyone who says that he is only running here after doing a great piece of work last Saturday.
I rode him in that piece of work and he pleased me, for sure, but it wasn't a searching piece of work at all. He was fit and we were just keeping him ticking over.
However, I do think he is a fair each way bet at around 14-1.
Of the others, I have always been a fan of Windshear, despite the fact that he has found one good too often, and he has plenty of stamina in his pedigree.
But I think Kingston Hill will probably win if allowed to take his chance. If he doesn't, then I am one of a few who could take advantage in his absence.

Frankie Dettori will attempt to move on from what he described as the disappointment of losing the ride on Treve when he puts Ruler Of The World through his paces in Sunday's Arc trials at Longchamp. ![http://e0.365dm.com/14/08/768x576/mr-frankie-dettori_3187752.jpg?20140809153420](http://e0.365dm.com/14/08/768x576/mr-frankie-dettori_3187752.jpg?20140809153420) Frankie Dettori: Disappointed with losing the ride on Treve Frankie Dettori will attempt to move on from what he described as the disappointment of losing the ride on Treve when he puts Ruler Of The World through his paces in Sunday's Arc trials at Longchamp. As the retained jockey for owners Al Shaqab Racing, Dettori was expecting to be helping Treve towards the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe with her defence of the Prix Vermeille, but trainer Criquette Head-Maarek requested that she could have Thierry Jarnet back on board instead. This has left Dettori's most likely Arc ride as the Aidan O'Brien-trained Ruler Of The World, who landed last year's Derby but has only appeared once since Al Shaqab acquired an interest in him. That came when only 13th in the Dubai World Cup. "Criquette rang me, and I'd be lying to say I wasn't disappointed," said Dettori. "That was her decision, I'm part of the team, and she's sticking to what she knows best. It was disappointing but there's nothing more to say." Of Ruler Of The World, the Italian told Channel 4 Racing: "He's a Derby winner and I'm looking forward to riding him. "He hasn't run for a while but I'm very excited. I spoke to Joseph O'Brien (jockey) yesterday, he said the race would bring him to 100 per cent. He's doing his home work well." Asked if Ruler Of The World would be his Arc mount, he said: "Probably but we'll see what happens Sunday."

Views from connections ahead of Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. ![http://e2.365dm.com/14/07/768x576/sir-maximilian-copy_3176684.jpg?20140722172041](http://e2.365dm.com/14/07/768x576/sir-maximilian-copy_3176684.jpg?20140722172041) Sir Maximilian: Curragh hopeful Tim Pitt's stable star Sir Maximilian bids to continue his rapid ascent up the sprinting ladder in the Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. Since kicking off his season with a handicap victory at Chester, the five-year-old has claimed the lucrative Rockingham Handicap over this weekend's course and distance before returning to Ireland to land last month's Abergwaun Stakes at Tipperary. With proven top-level speedsters like Stepper Point and Extortionist in this Group Three field, Pitt will find out whether Sir Maximilian is up to a potential tilt at the Prix de l'Abbaye on Arc day at Longchamp. "This has been the plan since Tipperary really, he's very well in himself and we're very much looking forward to it," said the trainer. "He's a course and distance winner, albeit in a handicap, but he proved himself at stakes level at Tipperary and the form book tells you a fast-run five furlongs is what he needs. "We're drawn alongside Stepper Point, so hopefully he'll give us a nice lead." Pitt admits he has been surprised by the progress his five-year-old has made. "When he started off the year winning a handicap at Chester off a mark of 88, you wouldn't have thought he'd end up running in top sprint company, but full credit to the horse he's blossomed throughout the year and deserves his place in the field on Sunday," he said. "The dream is that he wins on Saturday and then goes for the Prix de l'Abbaye, but we'll worry about this race first. "Even if he doesn't win this weekend, if he runs well and shows he can be competitive at this level, he would probably deserve to go to Longchamp. "He's a 109-rated five-furlong sprinter, where else do you go with him?" Few would begrudge the William Muir-trained Stepper Point an overdue victory, having found only the brilliant Sole Power too strong in both the King's Stand at Royal Ascot and the Nunthorpe at York. Muir said: "He's run some great races all season and runs a solid race every time. He'll run at the weekend and then it will be the Abbaye, fingers crossed." Just a short-head behind Stepper Point when third in the Nunthorpe was Extortionist, who has enjoyed a tremendous three-year-old campaign for Olly Stevens. He ran a rare disappointing race in the Sprint Cup at Haydock, but Stevens is hopeful he can bounce back, with Andrea Atzeni taking the ride for the first time. Stevens said: "I sort of wish I hadn't run him at Haydock as the ground wasn't as good as they said it was and he just didn't handle it. "Thankfully Pat Smullen didn't give him a hard time and thought about his next race and I'm very thankful for that. "I'm really excited about running him as a stiff five furlongs at the Curragh should suit him well and it will also be a good opportunity for Andrea to get to know him ahead of next season. I'm hoping he comes back saying he's fallen in love with the horse. "We know he's a horse who can turn around quite quickly - the last time he won a Group Three it was his third run in 14 days. "He's had a long year and I just hope the run at Haydock hasn't had any ill effect on him." The David Marnane-trained Jamesie has done most of his running over six furlongs and was last seen edging out Gordon Lord Byron in the Renaissance Stakes. "We know he's at this level. Whether he's at this level at five furlongs, we're not sure, but our hand is forced to a certain extent," said Marnane. "It's a stiff five furlongs, so we're just hoping he can keep tabs on them early and if he gets to eyeball them at the finish, we know he's pretty good at that. "Whatever happens he's had a great year. He won in Meydan and has won a Group Three at home, so you can't ask for much more than that. "This will probably be his last run of the year, so we'll see what happens, but he's in great form and in a great place at the moment." Russian Soul is a regular in these races for Mick Halford, who said: "He's a very consistent horse and he's in great form, so we'll see what happens. "Sir Maximilian and Guerre might be the two to beat and we didn't do great with the draw (stall three), but we're happy with our horse and hoping for the best. "It's wonderful racing over the two days, great for Irish racing and hopefully they'll get the crowds they deserve." Aidan O'Brien saddles Guerre and Fountain Of Youth. A 10-runner field is completed by Abstraction, Master Speaker and Robot Boy.

Views from connections ahead of Saturday's Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster, including Roger Varian on market leader Kingston Hill. ![http://e2.365dm.com/14/09/640/racing-newmarket-kingston-hill_3203165.jpg?20140912155159](http://e2.365dm.com/14/09/640/racing-newmarket-kingston-hill_3203165.jpg?20140912155159) Kingston Hill: All set for the St Leger Roger Varian has suffered a couple of big-race false starts with Kingston Hill but the ante-post Ladbrokes St Leger favourite heads to Doncaster on Saturday in what could be a "huge" moment in the trainer's career. "There have been some very good trainers with yards full of very good horses who have had to wait a long time to win a Classic." Clerk of the course Roderick Duncan will not have watered the course, and said: "The instruction is that we try and get safe ground. For Flat racing, we are supposed to aim for good to firm ground and not improve or manipulate that." Check out Sky Bet's St Leger prices right here! He's got a lot of talent but he's been too keen in the past and we hope this time he'll switch off." John Gosden has been out of luck on the other occasions he has saddled three runners in Leger, but no other trainer has a more impressive recent record in the season's final Classic. "Marzocco may find the trip a bit sharp but apart from that will run well." While Gosden leads the championship, Richard Hannon is fighting hard to defend the title landed by his father. £5 free bet every week plus exclusive offers with the Sky Bet Club! I think that if the ground was a bit softer, both Alex My Box and Hartnell would have fantastic chances." Haydock maiden winner Min Alemarat was fifth in a Deauville Listed event last time and trainer Marco Botti said: "We always thought he would be a better horse in the second half of the season. "We have had to protect him from fast ground but he stays well." Odeon is a fractious individual but James Given has successfully tried him with headgear in the paddock to settle him down, and said: "I was a bit surprised that his price is so big as he has finished third in the Voltigeur, beating some of the horses who are shorter priced than him. "He has got the pedigree for the race as well as the physique and the big galloping track will also suit him." Scotland, third in the King Edward VII at Royal Ascot, is thought by trainer Andrew Balding to be better than his Gordon Stakes fifth.

15:50 Saturday 13th September Racing Tips - 13/09/2014
Can't wait for the Portland and I'm surprised Muthmir isn't shorter. A maiden winner here over 6, he looks a Group horse running off 100 in a handicap and this trip should be ideal. He was technically the wrong side and a touch too keen last time meaning he got daylight too soon and others had more of a pace to chase. Out of 15 today, High On Life, Magical Macey and See The Sun should give him a superb tow into this and I fancy he'll take some stopping at 6/1. The form of his York win is sensational. Also worth a nibble is York Glory who is back to his last winning mark. Hopefully Clear Spring will give those drawn low a bit of pace to chase and 25/1 is too big. That last win came at Ascot, form that translates well to the also recently relaid Doncaster track, and Ryan Moore has to be a plus. Doncaster 14.40 - Muthmir 2.5pt win Doncaster 14.40 - York Glory 1pt e/w
I do fancy Aljamaaheer to win the Park Stakes with ground and trip firmly in his favour. He is yet to win this season though and, given that the yard are just struggling a little, I'll swerve at 7/4. This is a weakish Group 2 with Es Que Love carrying a penalty and others having a bit to prove. Penitent and That Is The Spirit will probably take each other on for the lead, worrying for both of them, and the really interesting one is Cable Bay. He needs to step up on last year but his Champagne Stakes course and distance 3rd last year is solid form given The Grey Gatsby was 2nd. He was easy to back on belated reappearance but will be better for it and 9/1 makes him a play. Doncaster 15.15 - Cable Bay 1pt e/w
The Kingston Hill watering saga is a shame in a number of respects. It's impossible to see the clerk watering having described the ground as softer than it probably was earlier in the week (perhaps with an eye on the participation of the Leger favourite). It's tricky to see Kingston Hill running if they don't water given Varian's comments. Funny given that he ran a great race in a quick ground Derby but if they think he wants it softer then they have every right to take him out. That will destroy the market but, as we look at it currently, I like Windshear very much at 8/1. He has run some brilliant Leger 'trials' in defeat over shorter and this extra trip should bring out the best in him. I fancy he will reverse form with Snow Sky and, whilst his form is not quite Group 1 standard, it is very strong and this is a sub standard renewal bar the favourite. Also worth support is Alex My Boy who has 8lb and some to find with the selection from their Ascot run but I think that was an exceptionally good handicap and Alex My Boy has improved since. He flew from the rear that day and looked crying out for further last time at Goodwood. He will not mind quick ground at all and 20/1 is value enough. Doncaster 15.50 - Windshear 1pt win Doncaster 15.50 - Alex My Boy 1pt win
One from Chester and it was to be Mabait until I saw he was drawn widest of all. I'm sick of trying to beat the draw at Chester and, though there's a bit of pace on here, there's surely not enough to get Mabait involved. Clockmaker is very much a price selection but he does like it here and is well drawn to race prominently. He has won with Hayley Turner on before and has dropped to a winning mark, though he's been putting in some inconsistent efforts of late. On his course and distance win off 3lb higher last year though, when he tracked a decent pace and extended away, he has a super chance and he's no 20/1 shot. The hood is left off and that may just freshen him up. Chester 14.20 - Clockmaker 1pt e/w
