Goodwood, 13 October 2013
2.00, first race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Mark Grant, the rider of OPERA BUFF, placed second, from two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Mark Grant for 7 days as follows: Sunday 27, Monday 28, Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30, Thursday 31 October, Friday 1 and Saturday 2 November 2013.
2.30, second race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference from inside the two furlong marker. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that STAN NINETEEN (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Pat Cosgrave, had interfered with PENNY DROPS, placed third, ridden by Ryan Moore. They found the interference was accidental.
4.45, sixth race
The Stewards noted that THUNDERBALL, drawn 19, had anticipated the start and barged the gate at the same moment as the race had been started, thereby enabling the gelding, which was immediately pulled up, to break quickly. Being satisfied that it was not caused through a faulty action of the starting stalls, they took no further action.
5.45, eighth race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Dane O’Neill, the rider of the winner, FIRST POST (IRE), from approaching two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended O’Neill for 2 days as follows: Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October 2013.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by David Probert, the rider of MYBOYALFIE (USA), placed second, from two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Probert for 2 days as follows: Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October 2013.

Ffos Las, 13 October 2013
5.30, seventh race
The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Richard Johnson, the rider of RELENTLESS DREAMER (IRE), shortly before the line. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by the gelding putting its foot in a divot, causing it to fall. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved the Stewards took no further action.

Musselburgh, 14 October 2013
2.10, first race
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, TADALAVIL, ridden by Samantha Bell and trained by Linda Perratt, compared with its previous run at Ayr on 10 October 2013, where the gelding finished 11th, beaten approximately 9¼ lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding appreciated the drop back in trip, the faster going and had a better draw. They ordered TADALAVIL to be routine tested.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approximately four furlongs out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that CHEYENNE RED (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Paul McGiff, had interfered with MEGALEKA, unplaced, ridden by Tim Clark, who in turn interfered with DISTANT SUN (USA), unplaced, ridden by David Bergin. They found the interference was accidental.
3.45, fourth race
The Stewards noted that the winner, BAYAN KASIRGA (IRE), had interfered with GEANIE MAC (IRE), unplaced, who in turn interfered with CORTON LAD, placed third, inside the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved BAYAN KASIRGA (IRE)’s placing.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the reason why Julie Burke, the rider of VITTACHI, placed fourth, had appeared to ease her horse prematurely. Having heard her evidence and viewed recordings of the race they noted her explanation that when she eased up she had already been passed.
5.20, fifth race
The Stewards noted that ROTHESAY CHANCER, placed third, had interfered with SOMEONE’S DARLING, unplaced, approximately two furlongs out, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved ROTHESAY CHANCER’s placing.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, LAYLA’S OASIS, ridden by Barry McHugh and trained by Richard Fahey, compared with its previous run at Ayr on 19 September 2013, where the gelding finished 15th, beaten approximately 8 ¾ lengths. They noted the explanation from the trainer’s representative that the gelding appreciated the faster going. They ordered LAYLA’S OASIS to be routine tested.
5.20, seventh race
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approximately one furlong out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that DEFICIT (IRE), placed second, ridden by Tom Eaves had interfered with SLIP OF THE TONGUE, placed third, ridden by Luke Morris. The Stewards found Eaves in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left without taking sufficient steps to prevent the interference. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Monday 28 October 2013.

The Starter reported that ROLLING DICE, trained by Dominic Ffrench Davis, was reluctant to enter the stalls. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the colt could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
5.00, seventh race
The Stewards noted that the winner, STOMACHION (IRE), had interfered with HARWOODS STAR (IRE), placed fourth, around two furlongs out, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved STOMACHION (IRE)’s placing.
The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference inside the final two furlongs. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that interference took place between the winner, STOMACHION (IRE), ridden by Ryan Moore, and KASTINI, placed second, ridden by Richard Hughes. They found the interference was accidental and had not improved STOMACHION (IRE)’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered.

Aidan O'Brien could rely on either Kingsbarns or Ruler Of The World in Saturday's QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot after admitting to fears about ground conditions for both Declaration Of War and Magician. Kingsbarns: O'Brien's likeliest runner in the Champion? The Ballydoyle handler left the quartet of runners in this weekend's 10-furlong Group One at Monday's confirmation stage, with Kingsbarns, Declaration Of War and Magician also among the entries for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on the same card. However, with ground conditions at Ascot looking certain to be on the easy side, Declaration Of War could be saved for a trip to the Breeders' Cup meeting in California next month. Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Magician, not seen since finishing last in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, also looks likely to miss Champions Day. Speaking at Limerick on Monday afternoon, O'Brien told At The Races: "Declaration Of War could maybe struggle to run, because if the ground is not good or better he won't run. "If he doesn't run, he'll probably go straight to the (Breeders' Cup) Classic. "Magician is a little bit the same, he wants real good ground as well. "Ruler Of The World and Kingsbarns are in and both of those have form with ease in the ground, so maybe they'll run if the rain keeps coming as it is. "He's (Kingsbarns) in the Queen Elizabeth and he's in the Champion and Ruler Of The World is only in the Champion. "Whether the two of them will run in one or they'll split up, I'm not sure." Last year's Racing Post Trophy hero Kingsbarns has made just one appearance as a three-year-old, finishing tailed off in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown. "The Fugue and himself just collided after crossing the road in Leopardstown and we think he knocked his legs together as Joseph (O'Brien) felt he lost his action for a furlong," said O'Brien. "He couldn't move on him when that was happening and when you sit on him for a furlong and half, he was too far out of it then and he just let him coast home. "He's been in good form since." A total of 15 horses are still in contention for the Champion Stakes, with French ace Cirrus Des Aigles taking top billing. Winner of the race in 2011 and second to the brilliant Frankel 12 months ago, Corine Barande-Barbe's pride and joy endured a disappointing start to the campaign but looked right back to his best when winning the Prix Dollar at Longchamp last time. Godolphin's hugely talented but fragile five-year-old Farhh is set to make his first appearance since his brilliant win in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury in May, but connections have yet to decide whether he will run in the Champion Stakes or the QEII. Jim Bolger has both Parish Hall and Trading Leather engaged at the confirmation stage and Richard Hannon's Sky Lantern is another with a Champion Stakes entry as an alternative to the QEII. Mukhadram and Hillstar are others still in the Champion Sta

Brian Ellison and owner Keith Brown have decided the opportunity to try Top Notch Tonto on soft ground at Ascot in Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes is too good to pass up. . Brian Ellison: Trains Top Notch Tonto It was not a risk-free strategy, as it cost £70,000 to add the in-form chestnut to a 17-strong field which contains most of Europe's established Group One milers, but a further deterioration in conditions underfoot would swell their confidence. The gelded son of Thousand Words changed hands for just 3,000 euros as a yearling and after a promising juvenile season with Ian McInnes, he has made further progress since joining Ellison in mid-summer and chases a hat-trick after winning a Group Three at Haydock and a recent Listed race at Redcar. "I left it to the owner, I said 'It's your money so you had better make the decision'," said Ellison. "The ground is right for him, and I just hope it keeps raining really. We thought about waiting and trying him in a Group race next year, but when would he get his ground? "We'll take our chance, and there might be a few to drop out yet." Among those likely to fall away if the ground remains easy could be Sussex Stakes winner Toronado, as the Richard Hannon camp have already warned he could be diverted to the Breeders' Cup and that Olympic Glory would be their more likely runner. As Hannon chases the trainers' title again, it would appear that Sky Lantern would head instead for the Champion Stakes if she runs on the card at all. Dawn Approach, the 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace winner, looks set to make his first appearance since a disappointing effort at Deauville in August. He carries the blue colours of Godolphin, whose Lockinge hero Farhh is also doubly entered on Saturday. The Group One stars do not end there, as Jonathan Pease has confirmed his Prix du Moulin winner Maxios and Tom Hogan has done the same with the remarkable Gordon Lord Byron. Mike de Kock's great hope Soft Falling Rain, who looked so good at Newmarket last time, is still in the line-up along with John Gosden's superb filly Elusive Kate and her stablemate Gregorian. Aidan O'Brien has Declaration Of War, Kingsbarns and Magician still in the frame. Burwaaz, Caspar Netscher and Dawn Approach's frequent pacemaker Leitir Mor complete the field.

Last year's 2000 Guineas and dual Derby winner Camelot has been retired, owners Coolmore have announced. Aidan O'Brien celebrates with Camelot after last year's Derby Trained by Aidan O'Brien, the four-year-old fell short of his best form this season, winning just one of his three starts. Camelot was being trained for the Breeders' Cup Turf next month but was found to be lame this morning. Unbeaten as a two-year-old, including a Group One win in the Racing Post Trophy, Camelot excelled at three. Victory in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket was followed by a smooth display in the Derby at Epsom before he had to show his courage to win the Irish equivalent. The son of Montjeu then attempted to become the first horse since Nijinsky to win the Triple Crown but had to settle for a three-quarter-length second to Encke in the St Leger before finishing down the field in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. After that race he was struck down with a bad bout of colic and while he returned with a Group Three win at the Curragh this season, he finished behind Al Kazeem in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot and did not run again. "From the very first time we saw him at the sales we just loved him," O'Brien told www.coolmore.com. "He was the perfect racehorse, a beautiful horse with a terrific action. Speed, class and a super-intelligent horse to go with it - he had it all. "Unfortunately we never saw the same brilliance on the racecourse as we had done before his colic operation, but he was showing signs of it at home in recent weeks so it's obviously disappointing that he won't get the opportunity to run again." Camelot will stand at Coolmore next season, with his fee yet to be announced.
